I emailed the restaurant and no reply. I guess they don't care. I also saw many plates with food on them get sent to the kitchen with very little eaten. A reply would have been respectful and could have helped me understand why food was horrible. First I'd like to say setting up reservation for Easter, service and the restaurant-bar was great. We had expectations of a menu because there was no advertising about a buffet. When we called and made reservations nothing was said about a buffet at all. So the 4 of us were disappointed. I would normally go straight to yelp and put a review in, but I thought I'd contact you with my concerns first and see your reply because mistakes do happen. The buffet itself was very disappointing. Salty over crisp bacon, tough overcooked prime rib, desserts tasted like they had freezer burn, chicken was dry, shrimp were warm and selection for 30 dollars was ridiculous. I do have to say the Bloody Marys, coffee, potatoes were good. Our waitress was fantastic and I was impressed with how clean everything was. The fact that we made special plans for Easter and had a friend in town from California we wanted to take her somewhere special really upset me. She actually told the waitress not to waste the overcooked beef she couldn't eat, but to give to someone's dog so it didn't go to waste. I've done bigger buffets myself and prime rib could have been sliced at omelet station. I will leave it at that. We're from out of town and visit here whenever we stop at the local Harley Davidson store. The last 2 times our food has been subpar - most recently was this evening. I ordered the nachos with ground beef , the ground beef had no flavor whatsoever and it seems like they just threw it on last minute . My friend ordered a chicken sandwich asked if she could have it deep fried since last time her grilled chicken was raw , the bartender then came to us letting us know they no longer have fried chicken sandwiches but could use chicken tenders to make it into a sandwich or that's what's he said .We were ok with that , just make it into a sandwich with 2 tenders . Came out as the chicken tenders and ff meal. We didn't send it back since everyone was ready to go at this point since she got her food last. Bartender was nice but seemed very frazzled . read more

We stopped in for a snack and a drink on a Friday night and had a great experience. The restaurant has a great ambiance and a really cool interior with all of the stone work. There's separated restaurant seating and bar seating depending on your vibe and the staff was friendly. The bear paw mushrooms were really delicious but the steak sandwich was just ok. read more

stopped by Remingtons on a Friday night wanting some good food but not really sure what we were craving. was pleased their menu had a lot of different options ranging from wraps, fish fry, pizza, pasta, etc. started with the nachos with chicken and it was fantastic. huge portion and lots of toppings. I opted for the barramundi special. it came with soup or salad & I very much enjoyed their long list of homemade salad dressings. the barramundi was deliciously cooked and I loved the citrus sauce and fresh vegetables it came with. Your website said you had lobster tails but when we arrived we were told, "that's only on Fridays". When we asked about the soup of the day, we were told " we don't have a soup of the day anymore". When we asked about the 8 oz Filet Mignon, that was listed on the menu, we were told they were out. Sitting next to the window by the river was a great view but I suggest you wipe the flies and bugs off the window sill that were 18 inches from my plate! This was gross and so easy for you to remedy. Oh my gosh what a fun little hidden spot. We're still fairly new to the north side of the city, so still exploring all of the new-to-us spots. Over the weekend, we stumbled upon Remington's and are so glad we did. From the outside, it kind of looks like a small-town dive bar, but when you enter it's gives all the good vibes. The atmosphere and ambiance is like being up north. The whole place is very cabin-like from the the log-built walls and thick wood bar, to the very cool, rounded walkway to the back wrapped with rocks floor-to-ceiling. We sat in this space, which doubles as a waiting area, for about 10 minutes until our table was ready. In the meantime, we sipped on well-priced cocktails. I opted for a simple vodka soda, my dad enjoyed his old fashioned, and my husband and mom had some cold beers. We were sat at a four-top in the back near the windows which overlook their patio and the river. Again, a north woods feel that's just cozy and calm. Our lovely server (I believe her name was Rachel) greeted us and helped us decided on some good menu items to order. You'll find substantial pub style bar food but also more custom and homemade items. We started with the calamari steak to share, which was very interested. Good, but interesting. Definitely the first time I've tried calamari prepared that way. It came with lemon butter which was tasty. From there we all tried to order something different to kind of share and try. My mom and I split the cajun crusted walleye and the cedar planked salmon. Both we're super duper good. Very flavorful, and properly cooked. The calamari appetizer was my main dish and I humbly proclaim it to be one of the best and original style of preparation. It's crispy, you can taste the Parmesan in the crust, the beautiful gravy did not dampen the crunch of the crust and the calamari was a flattened plateful wide of billowy sweetness. Sorry about that, but it was that huge and good and new tasting to me! Susan served us and she was a personable sweetheart. They have a full bar. In and outdoor/patio seating. Good range of items on their menu. There is also a bar seating area, as well. I also had their delicious chili. For $1 more one can graduate from the cup to a bowl. First, my server Pat was really nice. Since I'm from out of town she made recommendations that were spot on! She also spent time telling me about all the great attractions in the area. 5 stars for her!!! The decor is unique! This place used to be a bowling alley, so it's really long. It's like a rustic log cabin inside-- really nice. They have a large bar for those who want to hang out meeting new people. I didn't have time, but next time for sure! The people seem to be super nice and welcoming. The food. I ordered cod fish and chips, and my side was potato pancakes. The fish was super crispy and moist! The tartar sauce was yummy too! I would order it again. I had a choice of sides and picked the potato cakes. They came with a little side of applesauce. I think the potato cakes were cooked ahead and reheated -- they were not tender in the inside. A cute surprise was a piece of rye bread and butter on the plate -- Pat said that is typical in Wisconsin. It was soft and yummy. I ordered mac and cheese to go, and added bacon. It came with a side soup or salad -- I got clam chowder. The Mac and cheese was pretty good but the noodles needed to be cooked just a couple minutes more. The soup was amazing? It was a Tuesday night. Neglected to post this review as it was saved in drafts. So it has been about 7 months since we were there. It was COLD that night. Made a reservation. Walked in. Waited 17 minutes standing at the door while the hostess walked away after taking the information of the group ahead of us and made drinks and served food at the bar. Wearing a few too many hats. She yelled over "I will be right with you folks" but took an uncomfortably long time for that to happen. There's a seating area in between bar and restaurant seating where customers can wait (and many open seats there), but we were not offered that option. Just left standing there for a very long time. Bar was full. Then there was no apology or explanation for being left standing at the door as frigid air blasted us when customers came and went. A line formed. Finally got seated. Then we waited even longer for a server to appear despite many empty tables. Ordered drinks and waited another 12-15 min for the server to come. Drinks took another 10 minutes. The wine was awful and priced way too high for the quality. Water served in tiny plastic glasses but at least it was cold. Salad came and was very tiny and just so so. Tiny portion of dressing. Carrots hard and dry. But edible and I was starving. Entrees took another 25 minutes or more. Burger was marginal. Four shrimp arrived with about 2 tablespoons of stone cold veggies and a very lukewarm potato. When the butter doesn't melt on a baked potato, there's an issue. No salt or pepper on our table so we had to grab it from an empty table. No candle or tablecloth. Paper napkins. When you shell out $29 for four shrimp with cold sides, a candle would be nice, even flameless. Or flowers or something besides a flat empty table. Tomatoes on the side were pale and tasteless. Tater tots were not too bad. Bread crumbs were severely lacking in quantity, as was the garlic and sherry in the de jonghe. See photo. I was hungry and by the time the server checked on us, I was nearly done eating. So it goes. They now charge 3.25% on credit card transactions, so ready to shell out extra unless you've got cash. Will definitely give this place a pass in the future given this experience. I now understand the reviews complaining about long waits and poor quality food, but we took our chances and now we get it!! Just really not able to handle a crowd well. There are plenty of other places with superb food (try Harry's!) at a similar price point with absolutely outstanding food and service. And the wait times there are not bad. Bartenders at Harry's are also fantastic. Rethink this one. I give lots of slack due to staffing issues, but only when the establishment is apologetic about the extra wait times and other issues. No such luck here. Server also barely checked on us. I would've sent my wine back but she didn't come back for so long that I just drank it. But it was really a bad wine. Overall, not worth it for what we got. We actually went out for ice cream afterwards because we were still hungry. That never happens! I'm always usually stuffed with leftovers. read more

Love this spot. Friendly. Charming. Attentive we stopped in, late afternoon, on. Friday. Had the French Onion Soup to start with and it was just as it should be- cheesy and delicious. I do wish there had been a little more onion in the soup but it was still a solid effort and worth having. My guy and I both had fish- the Poor Mans Lobster and the Beer Battered Cod. Both were delicious, moist and cooked perfectly. The beer batter was not greasy at all and had a great crisp. Make sure to get the potato pancakes. YUM!!!! So, so, good. My husband and I love this north woods cabin style family restaurant. The bar has a nice specialty cocktails list as well as wines. The beer menu only listed bottles but I could see they have at least 15 beer options on tap. I'm not sure if they're not included in bar menus because you can see the taps? Maybe they are included with dinner menus but I didn't sit in the dining room. My husband and father in law love the reuben, saying it's one of the best in the area. I love their crab cakes and often order them with a side caesar, which is standard but good! On this trip, I ordered to go and it was a thirty minute wait (I called at 6:00). The kitchen is small so you have to be patient but it's worth it. While I waited one of the managers initiated an awkward confrontation with staff which I found uncomfortable. I understand the serving station is directly next to the bar, but there should be a more discreet way to go about that. My husband and I ordered the bear paws, reuben, and steak sandwich. I was pleased that they asked for doneness on the steak sandwich and even more pleased when it came medium rare, as ordered. Ate there tonight... It was an almost rustic bar / restaurant. I liked the decor - especially the group of squirrels on the wall. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food came out quickly, very quickly considering the number of diners. I had the meatloaf. It was good. It tasted good, although I probably should have used a bit more ketchup. The garlic mashed potatoes were great, and the veggies were too. I wasn't expecting it, but it even came with a large 'side salad', which was loaded with little tomatoes, cakes, and a whole mess of other stuff. First of all... wow. I've been here a few times throughout the years. Decided Mother's Day brunch would be here this year. Ordered a mojito.. tasted like I was brushing my teeth with alcohol. Wilted mint and one small lime. Not even made with silver rum. Asked server for extra lime, never got any. Fiancé went up to the bar to get some. For another drink after that, it was so awful we had to send it back. Anyways... fiancé and whole family ordered food. I was not hungry due to being annoyed at the drinks and their quality or lack thereof. Waited over an hour for the food to get brought to the table. Honestly was just debating on getting the check and just leaving. As Mother's Day is a very busy day for us and we have other places to be. One bowl of soup took over an hour to come out and it was the last dish to be served. The server was not very attentive at all and disappeared during the entire hour we waited. The food quality has gone down a lot. The prices are too much for what it's worth. The drinks are awful. Not worth, unfortunately. Really wish I could say otherwise. Very disappointed. Not to mention, we paid cash and the serve never asked us for our change. Never even gave us an opportunity to get change back..... yikes. TLDR: service slow/inattentive. Food quality is moderate. I dined here in early January 2023 - I believe it was Jan 6. I have been in before for dinner, just three times, over the past two years. On those previous occasions, the food was "fine" - that is, I didn't have a problem with the price I was charged vs the quality of food. O Jan. 6 I ordered the two pork chops entrée. I had the mushroom soup that was offered (vs salad), and it was very tasty. I'd asked for a baked potato (vs garlic mashed), which was wrapped in foil when I got my plate. Seriously, who puts potatoes in foil unless you're camping? Now I have to unwrap my potato to make sure I don't bite on foil. Otherwise, the potato was fine, and the side veggies were quite nice. The pork chops, however, were something else. They were WHITE. You know, that white you get when you cook pork chops in sauce or something because they get no browning at all. (OK, I'm being nice. They were actually about as white as you can get. No beige at all.) Over these white chops was the most disgusting excuse for gravy I've ever seen (yes, the menu says there's gravy on the chops). It certainly wasn't like any gravy I've experienced in a casual Wisconsin restaurant. It was SHINY like jelly, and a dark brown that was almost black. I stuck my fork into it and tasted the gravy on its own - it was a bit sweet. I thought that perhaps the way the chops were prepared somehow went with the gravy, so I sliced up a bite of (lukewarm) meat with gravy and put it in my mouth. Trust me when I tell you that the gravy didn't match the seasoning of the meat at all, so I scraped the gravy to the side. That was when the second anomaly appeared. Revealed by the removal of the gravy was a kind of lattice pattern stamped into the meat. They appeared to be "specially applied grill marks". They were DELICATE. It also looked as if they were applied with some kind of heated brand - only the area that was touched by this mystical brand had darkened. If the meat had been cooked on an actual grill, the marks would not have been so fine and pristine - the heat of the grill would have spread it out a bit. The meat itself had a kind of smoky char scent to it and very little flavor beyond the smokiness. It wasn't tender, but it wasn't tough, either. It was definitely an experience I don't recommend to anyone else, and I'm sorry I didn't take a photo. As to beverages, I had a mixed drink because their red wine prices are very high. My server was pleasant, although after the meal check-in (the dangerous "how is your meal?" question) she was essentially absent until it was time for the check, so I had to ask a different server for an extra napkin. read more

First time here. Went belly up to the bar and met Bruce, the bartender, who turned out to be quite the ambassador for Remington's. Told us a bit about the place, food specials and kept our drinks topped off. Very friendly and service oriented gentleman whom we quickly appreciated. We ordered food at the bar; starting with a "Moose Chips" appetizer; sliced and fried zucchini. Very good; perfectly crispy. It was accompanied by a very tasty, tangy house made Marinara. My lady had the chicken wrap and fries and I had the Cobb Salad. The chicken wrap was AOK and the Cobb Salad was excellent. We really liked the space here... Very large facility with a big bar area. Kind of a log cabin motif with an up scale feel to it. We never walked in the back room but, for sure, the back of the building abuts the Milwaukee river. Prices are reasonable. I am starting to like writing reviews about my food experiences. Unfortunately the service I just experienced outweighed the food. I actually have a bad taste in my mouth. My coworker and I went to Remington Inn for lunch. The hostess was very friendly and we were immediately seated because the restaurant was not that busy. Our waitress took our drink order and it went down hill from there. I can't put my finger on why we were treated the way we were. Maybe she was mad we didn't take the special or she doesn't like people that order Root Beer Wings, Cobb Salad, (2) Soups, and a Lava Cake. She seemed unable to attend our table regularly but her other tables and the other patrons being served by others seemed to get a steady flow. We watched another waitress visit a table 3 times to our 1 visit. Then the bill came and would you look at that there is an item on there that we didn't order. When we brought it to her attention. No apology was given. She looked at and said "I don't know how that got there". mind you we had plenty of time to find it because it took 10 minutes to come back and get it. Then the time it took for her to return the card was just as stupid. I believe in tipping at least 20% for Ok Service and 25% or more for excellent service. I couldn't bring myself to even leave 15%. I know everyone has off days but it really felt like her offness was geared towards my coworker and I. Ok now here comes the race card. My coworker is of the Caucasian Persuasion and I am the descendent of Slaves. I joked with my coworker that maybe she didn't approve of our relationship( I am happily married and there is no relationship) but I guess perception is everything. We ignored some of the negative Yelps, and took a chance on a very buggy Sunday evening in September. The decor is lodgy, the staff is friendly enough, and the food was ample and well-prepared. It seems like they have half the town set aside for parking. I had the "Famous Remi Burger" for $13 with tots. It was huge, juicy, and perfectly cooked with just the right bread-meat ratio. 'A' had the Chicken Strips and Fries appetizer for $9 as a meal. It's probably the best deal on the menu, with five huge lightly breaded chicken pieces. There's a good draft beer selection. Not a bargain at $5.50 for what looked like a 14-oz. jar of Lagunitas IPA, but not awful either. We'll definitely be back when we're in this neck of the woods. read more

Good service, waitress friendly and attentive. We were at Remington's on a Saturday evening and although it was 6:30, the TV was on (ok) but the sound was also on and on loudly. We didn't realize that Remington's was a sports bar. The GB Packers were not even playing ... the game was between 2 other teams from the east coast. Although we planned to have dinner, we finished our drinks and appetizer and left. A perfect destination for a great meal while out wandering on a lazy Saturday! My experience was great for the following reasons: --Rustic Interior. It instantly transported me to the Northwoods with the log cabin walls, rough-hewn furniture and commanding river views. There was a patio that looked like a bucolic place to dine, but I equally enjoyed my riverfront seat. The stone grotto separating the bar from the dining area is not to be missed - it's beautiful! --Friendliness. The wait staff were calling a number of customers by their names. That does a person's heart good to see. --Good food. I felt like I should eat healthy so I ordered a salad of spinach, apples, dried cranberries, candied almonds and feta cheese with chicken. It was delicious with a balsamic vinaigrette. I also indulged myself with a freshly baked pretzel that was large, piping hot and had the perfect chewy crispy texture. I ordered it with the mustard sauce, and it came with the cheese, but I didn't complain - I took it as a sign from the gods that it was my day to live a little. My only detractor, and mind you it's slight, is the fact that my service was just a tad bit slow. It wasn't a bad thing, I normally wouldn't mind things being a bit leisurely, but it was so gorgeous out and I was driving my new convertible so I wanted to hit the road. It was a Friday night and the place was packed. It was our first time there. My drink was terrible. I had the meatloaf which was dry and Luke warm, with hardly any seasoning. I took it home to my dog. The garlic mashed potatoes where dried around the edges as if they had been sitting under a heat lamp. We had to go find our own napkins and we still didn't have silverware when they brought out the food. So we waited for that as well. The best part of the night was seeing deer cross the river. As we sat at the window which we had asked to be seated outside and was told the best she could do was a table by the window. As we looked out the window there where several places for a table of two. First and last time for me. I gave it a 3 star because the place was clean and felt like I was at a rustic lodge. Beautiful place. We were sat right by a big picture window looking into a river with a massive tree in the middle. The view was breathtaking. Our expectations were really high. We came here with family as a reunion after not seeing each other for such a long time. My husband order a meatloaf which he says was really good (cleaned out plate) and me & my brother-in-law ordered the chicken marsala (his with garlic mash and mine with egg noodles). Unfortunately when my dish came out I was so surprised to see that the noodles were soaking and swimming in the marsala sauce and there were two pieces of split fried chicken breast in the middle. Suffice it to say that the chicken was dry and did not have any of the marsala flavor while the noodles were almost like in a creamy soup and very very sweet at that. I tried to fix the taste to make it edible by adding salt and it improved it somewhat but it still did not solve the dried tasteless fried chicken issue. I visited last Sunday evening with a few friends after work. The outside and first step inside gives you this corner pub kind of feel. We were greeted by a hostess who led us table in back. I was pleasantly surprised along with the others dinning with us. The main dining was gorgeous it had a nice elegant cabin feel. The large wooden tables, log style paneling, and fire place gave a beautiful view. In addition there were beautiful bay windows in back which looked onto the patio, perfect for a date. For our drinks a couple of us ordered their old fashion and it was made to perfection I can also say that about their margaritas. We started with bear paws which are mushroom pieces layered with a cream cheese type of filling, the menu says stuffed but baked. But it was just warm and layered with too much cheese (not a fan). I recently moved a few miles away from Remington's. The last few times I went, I was greeted at the hostess stand by a girl named Bailee I believe. She was very kind and helpful. She also was the finest babe I've ever seen. Overall my experience was great. The service was nice and Bailee was nicer. Also they had good soup. read more

I was at this place yesterday in the late afternoon. It was definitely not a Sunday Funday. I ordered an appetizer which took forever to arrive. Meanwhile as I waited at the bar, I heard the staff all spouting off about different things and this went on for quite some time. The staff would also stand around the food pick up window by the kitchen, and eat French fries. When my appetizer finally arrived, I wasn't given a plate or napkin. On the shores of the Milwaukee River, Remington's has etched a spot in the Thiensville dining scene. Opened in 2003, this log cabin themed bar and restaurant appeals to all ages. Multiple hails to a black lab I assume is Remington, the setting and warm vibe provide a comfortable backdrop to kick back with friends and family and enjoy some good drinks and eats. Friendly attentive service with nice touches were appreciated. The menu is a mix of apps, sandwiches, and salads. I would say the best Cobb salad on the north shore, too. Easy and convenient parking on the side or across the street removes the excuse to not stop and give it a shot. Not a dinner spot- I would go for lunch and/or happy hour. read more

Cobb salad, Ya'll! I am probably the biggest cobb salad fan you find. I seek it out. I love it. It's my favorite food or thing to order. This place does it right! Lines of fabulous protiens beautiful and fresh. Plus the atmoshere is cozy and inviting. Great service and drink specials to boot! read more
