I'm so impressed with the vegan burger and fiesta bowl! The people here are amazing and so is the food.

I decided to try the vegan burger here, very skeptical and was pleasantly shocked at how much I liked it. I think I had a macaroni and vegetable side dish and both were very delicious, fresh and made in house. I wish I lived closer to this place and wish they were open late at night. I'd go there all the time if that were the case. The owners and staff are extremely nice, friendly and eager to answer any questions with the food. Definitely recommend this place. Especially if your vegan, or allergic to gluten or just want to eat more healthy in general. read more

Ok... wow. My wife and I (both plant based) found this after a quick search on our phone. We are usually good at finding hidden gems with vegan options, but a straight up vegan restaurant... few and far between. The feeling of walking into a restaurant (with our four children) and ordering anything without worry is amazing. There were plentiful options including both healthy (smoothies, salads, etc.) as well as comfort foods (like the yummy burger, nachos, etc.). The staff was super nice and went above and beyond (helping me refill a water bottle for my dog, boxing up our big to go order, etc.). The place is super clean and cute. My little kids enjoyed the books while we waited. I can't wait to head back to this area and visit again. Such an underrated place! Their menu may seem small online but they have specials on the board. The burger patty is realistic and I can't believe its made from oats and walnuts. I had a fiesta burger with bbq mac and cheese and another visit I had the quinoa mango bowl and a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie. Any place that sells pumpkin dishes year round is a place i like. None of these dishes "tasted" like "vegan" meals, they just tasted great. The quinoa mango bowl has amazing dressings on it, and the bbq mac and cheese isnt the most realistic mac and cheese ive had but it is up to par with all vegan mac n cheese I've had at other restaurants. My wife and I dropped in for a change of pace, we are not vegan, but we were in the mood to try something different. Well...we both totally enjoyed our experience and meals. Wow. That's all I can say! I met some friends at the Tin Thistle for lunch. The chefs here understand their vegan craft, well. I ordered a soup and a sandwich and both were robust and flavorful - I was almost done with my meal before I remembered it was vegan cuisine. The lunch sat VERY well with me. No heartburn or after lunch sleepiness that I usually get when I go out for lunch elsewhere. It was incredible. This experience just might make me consider a change in diet. A charming artsy and spacious cafe with a outstandingly fresh plant based food selection. Their burgers will simply make you pause between bites to reflect how rich and flavorful they are and their soups of the day never disappoint (especially on a rainy day). This place is amazeballs!! It's my kid's favorite restaurant in town! Their plant based burgers are amazing and no soy, yay! (over 98% of the soy in America is Genetically Modified) Try the Burger or the Fiesta bowl, you can't go wrong. And their baked (not fried) sweet potato fries are bomb! It's really hard to find vegan restaurants that have good flavors and don't just serve a bunch of tofu dishes. Even their fry sauce and vegan mayo is the best we've found! We are still working our way through the menu, and the ever changing daily specials, but so far everything we've tried has been really great!! Give it a shot, even if you are not vegan you owe your body the health & treat of a plant-based meal, as often as possible. If you've always wanted to give vegan food a shot, but you were worried it would taste like cardboard, give this place a try! Amazing service, amazing food!!!! This is such a gem for vegan food in the mix of a heavy seafood coastline. Mac and cheese is great, my husband was angry because he thought his burger was beef, I quickly grabbed a menu and assured him it was 100% vegan! Prices are great considering where you are. I visited this restaurant back in 2018 and everything was great. However, upon returning to the area yesterday and visiting the restaurant, I found that things changed. One of the dishes I order was a Tuscan burger with sweet potatoes fries. When the server brought the food, we tried the sweet potatoes and they were soggy, stone cold, and half raw. I asked him to re- fry them because they were raw, and he said that he left them in the fryer for 15 minutes and they should be good, and if I wanted them redone I would have to wait another 15 minutes. At that point I told him to forget about it. My point here is that instead of finding excuses, he should have been more proactive and at least apologize for the way the food was presented. Service recovery was non existent. I remembered this place from my previous trip and thought I would stop by since my previous experience was a positive one. Unfortunately the service has changed and my family and I won't be returning. We spent over $50 for 3 people and was not worth it. When I go to a restaurant I don't expect people to go overboard with my food, but at least present something that is edible. read more

I was on a roadtrip southbound from Portland to San Francisco via the 101 and the entire time I had been subsisting mostly off of Taco Bell, Soon Veggie cup ramen and whatever I could cook for myself by campfire. As a vegan on the road, it seems that unless you know the area, there really aren't that many good vegan options, let alone restaurants on the 101(based off my experience). That's why taking a bite of one of the best (and healthiest) vegan burgers I've ever had was a moment of catharsis. I cannot recommend the BBQ burger (w/grilled jalapeños added by the cook!) enough. The patty is quite unlike anything I have come across during my 3 years as a vegan. This isn't your typical veggie patty with bits of corn or quinoa that you'll see later on :P. Nor is it trying to be an impossible/beyond burger/imitation-meat wannabe. It instead has a unique and palatable flavor and texture which is made hearty enough by the walnuts and oats but balanced by the tang and flavor of the onion and spices. The Siracha mac 'n cheeze that came as a side was also a great compliment which captures that classic gooey, slightly oily, Mac with all the flavor and a bit of heat. All this salt and spice was balanced out by the sweet and creamy Mango Lassie which really brought things together. On top of the food, the staff were cheery and helpful, which, while I don't want to imply that everyone doing a job has to be happy all the time, was refreshing to see, especially given the current circumstances. The interior was a treat as well. As while I was waiting for my food I got to see beautiful botanicals in the back garden/sitting area as well as some dynamic, what appeared to be local, art in the main dining room. Everything was quite clean and social distancing. procedures were in place such as masks, 6' marks, reduced seating, and hand sanitizer. I had to stay in town to get my car serviced so I had the chance to go back a second time and got the fiesta Wrap. While everything was basically the same as above, Id personally have to recommend the BBQ burger over the Fiesta Wrap if you're someone who likes a big juicy bite like me. Overall, 5/5. Tim Thistle is a shining plant-based light in the animal agriculture heavy route that is the 101. read more

My husband & I traveled to Bandon and stopped in at The Tin Thistle for lunch. I used to live in the area and am so glad to see this delightful vegan restaurant still putting out great food! My husband and I had a *great* vegan meal here. Although we've eaten in vegetarian/vegan restaurants in Sacramento, Monterey, Eugene and Portland, the Tin Thistle far exceeds any other we've experienced. We feel privileged to have an eatery of this caliber in our community! The ambience is clean, attractive and simply, inviting. And a garden eating area is also available. The food is *incredibly flavorful* and the portions generous. Between us we had two tacos with a side of mac and cheese, tomato basil soup and an ample 'tofurkey' sandwich served on toasted bread with a savory dressing and packed with other fillings (besides the 'meat'). The care taken with the ingredients and food preparation is evident. We look forward to returning for more of this delicious, thoughtfully planned and prepared food. read more

I've been wanting to try The Tin Thistle since I arrived in the area last month. However, I just haven't had the opportunity until now. It is easy to find, right off of the main road, but parking wasn't stellar (unless there's a secret I haven't been made privy to). After walking straight through the tables on either side to the ordering counter, I waited behind another couple. It have me a minute to decide what I wanted. Menus were located on the counter to the left and daily specials are on the large board in front of you. I had the fiesta burger, potato salad, and iced tea. I paid, was given a number and sat at a table by the door. It was an incredibly windy day, more than usual. I watched the passersby as they struggled to keep their hats, scarves and other accessories from flying off into never land. Before I knew it, my order was brought to my table and smelled delicious! I couldn't wait to take that first bite and it didn't disappoint. Everything was wonderful! I thought perhaps I'd take half the burger home. Nope, I ate the entire thing and the potato salad!!
