I had hoped for an amazing breakfast and was disappointed. It's a cute little place, we were seated quickly and had hot coffee right after. The food was the issue. Not bad, just not great! My French toast was thick slices that needed more time in the egg batter before cooking; it was dry in the middle. His biscuit and gravy was okay also; the biscuit was tough. The eggs were cooked and the sausage patty was the best part. The hash browns casserole was also good. Nothing wrong here, just nothing amazing. read more

Long wait on a Saturday morning--2 hours. Great menu with scratch made breakfast plates. The crab cake Benedict was outstanding with real hollandaise and a lemony crab cake. Pancakes had a fantastic vanilla flavor, but cold. Breakfast meats were also cold--leading me to believe that these along with the pancakes were made earlier in the day and held. Great service. Funky atmosphere and welcome addition to the great food scene in downtown Goshen. I've had both the Nashville Hot Sammy and the Chorizo Omelette. The Nashville Hot was decent but lacked a good punch of heat. Needs more heat to make it good. Homemade tots and ranch were a nice side. The chorizo omelette was very good. The cheesy hash browns were outstanding. Believe it or not, my favorite so far was the pancake I had as a side with the omelette. It was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. So good! But, I must add that the prepackaged Smucker's syrup was a bit disappointing from a presentation standpoint in a place like this. Will be back to try more soon! read more

Definitely worth the wait. Even several weeks after opening, the restaurant maintains a wait which is a testament to their fabulous food. The bacon gravy and homemade biscuits are some of the best around. The food was all homemade and the difference is in the taste. The restaurant is fun and vibrant as you enter and they allow for communal seating to facilitate a shorter wait if you desire. Such a great restaurant and we will definitely be back. read more

Went to The Tipsy Biscuit with some friends on a Sunday morning, and had to wait an hour or so for a table of 8. This place has limited seating so be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation. I ordered a Chorizo & Jalapeño Omelette with a biscuit and house fried potatoes. The chorizo and jalapeno omelette had great flavor. The house fried potatoes had a great fry and very tasty. I would highly recommend those potatoes. The omelette should have been served on a bigger plate and the biscuit was more on the fluffier side. My friend ordered Vegan Black Bean Cakes. The flavors were there, but as for the croquette, it was lacking the crispiness. The consistency was more of a soft mush. Service was great, cared for. They decorated the place well. However, I would watch out walking by the frame of fishing lures. They have real fishing lures with hooks on them, that's a potential accident waiting happen. Hopefully they reconsider in removing the hooks! Other than that, I would visit Tipsy Biscuit again for breakfast and make a reservation next time. read more

If you go, especially on a Saturday, you'll need to do one of two things: a) set a reservation or b) get there a half-hour before it opens and wait in line. Yes, I know it's tough to get in, but thems the breaks for a popular restaurant. (Hopefully their move to Goshen opens more tables and reduces the difficulties to get in). And when you do get in, what you'll find is some of the best breakfast/brunch food (take it from a guy who isn't all that big on breakfast) you'll ever find, along with some of the kindest, nicest staff in Elkhart County. My family and I ate here for breakfast the other day. The service was alright through the meal. We had to ask for drink refills and our food was cold, but we didn't say anything about it so that was on us! When got our checks we were all separate checks (6 of us) and the server did seem a little annoyed. No big deal again! When we got to pay was when things got weird. The server kept passing us and giving us glares and even rolled her eyes at my brother at one point. My grandma had handed the cashier more than what she owed and when she explained the extra money was for the tip, the cashier yanked the money back from my grandma and threw it in the basket pretty aggressively. My brother then asked to speak to a manager about the weird behavior. We were told there was no manager and that the owner was out. When he asked for a number to call, the cashier kept repeating they don't give out his personal number (we never asked for it) and refused to give the company number, saying to just find it online. My brother explained why he was upset to the cashier and decided to call later to try and talk to the owner. We all still tipped 20% and chalked it up to an off day for the employees we talked to. As we were leaving we were FOLLOWED out of the restaurant by our server asking us why we were upset with her service. She kept saying she wasn't crazy and wanted to know what she did wrong? I had to repeat to her that following us out of the restaurant was not the way to handle this situation. My brother and I both tried calling this past week to speak with the owner about this and he wasn't around. My brother left his number and never heard back. I loved the look of the place and even though the food was cold, my meal was still beautiful and delicious! The customer service was unbelievably disappointing. A nice spot for breakfast. The food was very good, the water however, gets poured out of a coffee pot (they reuse it for water) so the water has a coffee taste and has a brown tint. I would definitely recommend they "stop" using the coffee pot for water. Along with breakfast I had a mimosa of which I always enjoy, but this one seemed to be way more orange juice than anything else. Not recommended. Anyway, the service was great and we sat outside so the ambiance was nice as well. We enjoyed our breakfast being newbies there but would not recommend the water. read more

We were fortunate to have Tipsy Biscuit open to serve our family for Thanksgiving and we had a wonderful time! This is a family run business and the whole family was there! It's a home-cooked with a special twist. At least my home cooking was never that delicious! The new restaurant is much larger than the previous one but retain the same comfortable ambience. The service all work together well to make sure everybody was taken care of. And the desserts were out of this world--all homemade. Fortunately, we were able to take them home because there was no room after the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Been wanting to try this place out and finally made it Friday for breakfast. Loved the atmosphere as soon as we walked in. Ten o clock was the perfect time with no wait. I had the original eggs benedict and potato cubes and my son ordered the breakfast burrito and cheesy potato casserole. Everything was hot and tasty! But in my adult life i've never been told i have 10 minutes to clear the table while my nephew was still working on food. That made the experience awful and not a very pleasant one, i left within 2 minutes of being told i had 10 minutes. Servers seemed inexperienced, food was sub par. Waited 20 minutes just for menus and an hour to get food. All of this would have been excused if one of the servers told us kitchen was backed up or made up some excuse. I work in the service industry and communication is key when it comes to these situations. But at least they filled our coffee when we took a sip out of it. read more

This place is really cute. It's a small diner style place that does get busy around brunch time. We got there at 10 and had 6 people. Had to wait about 15 min. But while we were eating we overheard the host saying 45 minute wait. Just FYI. Our waitress was great, she gave space, answered questions and gave really good recommendations. 10/10 service. The drinks were STRONG but really tasty! We had different versions of mimosas and they were all really good. I also got an iced horchata coffee to go which I really enjoyed. The classic two egg breakfast was nothing to write home about. I like ordering classic breakfasts because you can tell a lot about a place. The eggs were cooked well, the home fries were nicely seasoned, but the turkey sausage was dry and cold. The rye toast had good flavor but was cut very thin and was kind of hard. Just wasn't a great breakfast. My husband got the chicken and waffles with the jalapeño cornbread waffle. It was delicious! Made me jealous. The waffle was so flavorful and soft. The chicken was fried to perfection and the honey drizzle was perfect. He also ordered the Nashville hot oil/sauce on the side and it was soooo good all together. My eggs were cooked to perfection and the gravy they add is delicious on the corned beef. Hubs ordered the sampler which is a crazy amount of food that came home with us in a container. Don't you just hate when a place brags and falls short but if you make it to the Tipsy Biscuit you have lucked up and found the real deal.... BEST Biscuits periodT!!! They have a great breakfast menu IMO so I asked about fan favorites and what is recommended for the first-timer. We have been going there since they opened. We move away 3 years ago. Back in town for the holidays. We stopped to see James as we always loved the food and service. Nothing has changed except it is more crowded because the word has gotten out about the wonderful food and service. Will be back in the summer and will definitely stop by. read more

We were directed to a booth by the lady at the front door and sat down to look over the menu. This place fills up fast, so they go on a wait quickly! A lady came over to our table and told us we couldn't sit where we were seated because we were sitting at a reserved table....the table we were directed to sit at. We said ok well is there somewhere else we can sit, she said no because of social distancing. Primary parking is in a rear corner lot behind the modest restaurant building. 3-4 parking spaces are available near the front door on the Main Street. Decor is pleasant and appropriate for the space with a hint of classic folk art. Adult breakfast beverages are available alongside hot fresh coffee. What a nice surprise in downtown Elkhart. This was our first time there and it was fantastic. Service was prompt and right on spot. The atmosphere was small town yet very eclectic in decor. Small fairy gardens, floral design all surround cute booths and a lovely lunch counter. The food was outstanding! Our son ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken and chocolate milk. The pictures tell it all, but we all tried the tater tots and they were to die for and all home made. My husband got the Corned-Beef hash which was all fresh and homemade. Topped with two eggs over easy and a flaky, soft biscuit on the side and a sunburst mimosa to wash it down. I got the Black Bean croquettes made of sweet potato, black beans and corn. The BEST breakfast I've ever had in the Elkhart/South Bend area. It's a small place, so be careful not to miss it. Inside is so cute and fun. A lot of great quirky decorations. If feels really bright and fun inside. The food is INCREDIBLE! It was incredibly hard to pick something as everything sounded great. I had an horchata iced coffee. This is a review of the newly opened Goshen location. The restaurant was decorated nicely and the wait staff did a good job but not great. Our second waiter, not sure what happened to the first, was friendly but kinda hands-off. The place was busy but it's not that big so not sure why he wasn't more attentive. The food was just OK. Nothing I'm rushing back for but I will go again to try something different. Portions were not small but certainly not large and it is put on a plate that is a bit too small to even have a place to rest your knife. I'm sure that is to make it look like you're getting more food than you really are. The "tater tots" were good as was the hash brown casserole my wife got. But this did not sit right with me, we both got the Hillbilly Benny. My wife got it with bacon gravy while I got the hollandaise. Mine was $2 more than her's because apparently there is an undisclosed up-charge for hollandaise. I checked on my way out against a menu and sure enough, nothing. I asked the hostess about it and all I got was a "Yeah, that's for the hollandaise" reply like we didn't notice. No "I'm sorry, sir, but it is disclosed in the menu." or a "I apologize, your waiter should have told you." $2 is not a big deal but it may have changed my order had I known that seeing as the prices are on the high side especially for a breakfast. As I said, I plan to go back and try something else but based on this first experience, the only real reason to go back is for the option of a breakfast cocktail. read more
