I can't believe I finally made it here! My aunt has talked about this place since her an my big brother ate there. So on my way to the airport my aunt said I'm taking you to a place you've been wanting to go. I was so excited to see that we were going to the toasted yolk Café. This cute cafe with its bright colors and great atmosphere a casual dining was great. They offer breakfast and lunch with a full bar. We both had breakfast of course because it was early but no bloody Mary's for breakfast lol. The food and the service were great. Everything came out perfect and on time we never needed anything as our cups were always full and we were always asked if we needed anything else. I love the coffee cups. They are so cute. So of course I had to buy one lol!!!! I had a spinach, bacon, feta cheese omelette, which was delicious. My aunt had a cheese omelette with a biscuit, which was also very good she said. Highly recommend trying the toasted joke. Won't be disappointed. They are open from 7 AM to 3 PM. Would love to go back and try lunchtime when I visit my dad again thanks again toasted yolk for a great meal great service and great prices. read more

Ok, gonna be a mixed review. I am going to say that I hope I'm back in Danville to try them again so I can up this rating. I think they have great potential but it depends on what they do with what the customers tell them. I want to commend the manager/owner guy who came out and talked with us. I gave an honest opinion to him directly and will here as well. The restaurant was very clean, and decorated nice. Comfortable! The staff were friendly. Our waitress was precious, bless her very pregnant heart. She was very attentive. We both ordered the 2 egg breakfast, that we upgraded the signature dragonfruit pancake and signature croissant French toast to. I got the chicken sausage links and hash brown casserole. Casserole was ok. Could have been fresher. It was 11:30 and tasted like it was made first thing in the morning, but still edible. I would like it more cheesy. My hubby tasted the base most. I'm just picky with my hash brown casseroles lol. Chicken sausage links were FABULOUS!!! Highly recommend!!! Hubs got the turkey sausage patties and they weren't good. I didn't try them because I don't eat turkey. Both of our eggs were cooked perfectly, mine being over medium and his scrambled. The signature items. I told this exactly to the manager/owner guy. The dragonfruit pancake: the pancake was not good. Idk if they messed the batter up but it tasted/texture was like it wasn't cooked, yet didn't look undercooked. It was just weird, like the recipe was messed up. I hope that is all it was. The dragonfruit compote on top was delightful!!!! It had the potential to be fabulous, just the pancake wasn't it. The signature croissant French toast was good but the middle was not cooked. You could see the wet custard. I think the griddle was too hot. Outside was slightly charred, not too bad, but inside not done. Just need to make sure they are cooked. My mocha latte wasn't mocha. It was a good latte, but zero sweetness or chocolate flavor. We went to The Toasted Yolk for brunch yesterday and really enjoyed it. I asked about skim milk for the coffee drinks, but they didn't have it so I opted for a hot coffee with the little half and half creamers. My husband tried the iced mocha. I ordered the Alaskan Arnold (eggs Benedict with salmon) and a side of cheese grits. He had the two egg breakfast with bacon, a biscuit, and the hash brown casserole. All our food was delicious, and the hot coffee was very hot in a real mug - which I really appreciated. I love the cloth napkins and real silverware, and our server was very friendly and efficient. Hopefully they'll get more milk options in the future, and maybe a few lighter food options for those of us with smaller appetites (or more health conscious). read more

Don't go here expecting quick service, as that won't happen. It was a little painful to get a refill on coffee. First time visit and it was a great experience. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were relatively big. Went on a busy Sunday during brunch time and it was a 5 minute wait for a table, so that wasn't bad. Out waitress was super nice and helpful, answering any questions we had about the menu and what she would recommend. Overall, the service was excellent. The only downside to our visit was definitely the wait time for the food.. it took about 40 minutes for the food to come out! Other than that, our experience was very pleasant. We arrived at 10:30 and there was no waitlist although the establishment was pretty busy. The front door staff was super friendly. Every one of the girls up there was nice and asked us how we were. We got seated immediately. Our waitress was super friendly as well. Very knowledgeable of the items. The serving size of our entrées was more than we expected we definitely did not leave hungry the café was clean and we really enjoyed our breakfast. So we went into the restaurant optimistic after reading several bad reviews about Service and food quality. I must say that the reviews were spot on. They weren't that busy and we waited quite a bit of time for a food to come out. Got the salmon eggs Benedict and my first bite was horrific with two bones, stabbing me in my mouth. Got a replacement order of just regular eggs Benedict with jalapeño hash brown casserole and they forgot the jalapeño. I was completely done with my replacement dish and the waitress never came back by to make sure it was what it was supposed to be and or right. Chicken on my husband's spicy chicken and waffles was way overcooked and extremely dark brown. Will not visit here again. They weren't even that busy for the slow food and overall service. read more

Had a great experience here. We were able to put our name on the waitlist via website, so that saved us some time. Roughly a 45 min wait but that was to be expected on a Sunday morning. We have eaten here and had takeout. Our eat-in experience was at the bar., The bartender was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. I had the brisket eggs ad they were super filling and tasty. My wife had the regular breakfast with eggs, hashbrown casserole and suggested chicken sausage from the server. She's picky about breakfast meats and really liked the chicken apple sausage links. Our takeout was this past weekend. Order was perfectly filled and the food was again very good. I had the blueberry donuts, belgian waffles, and normal egg breakfast. She said"Did you want 4 eggs? I said Yes, She said "Okay, You can start eating those, And I'll bring you two more, Strike #2. Finally I received my 2 eggs. The Food was Tasteless, I mean "zero flavor" I tried adding Salt, Pepper, Hot sauce, and that's all I could taste was what I added. Never again, I tried it and it's Not for Me, But, to each his own. Gave Yolk a few weeks to get their feet under them before visiting. I am sure the Decor was fresh when they opened but not now. The walls are already scratched and the paint is coming off. Already looking dingy. Upon entering the entire host interaction was "How Many". No other words exchanged. Seater made zero attempt to speak with us and gave us a less than an enthusiastic "enjoy your meal". Waitress was polite but obviously newer to serving. We ordered the 'Toasted Yolk' (Signature dish) with over easy eggs, bacon and cheese grits. Also the country fried steak with scrambled eggs and hashbrown casserole. And lastly Cheeseburger with Ketchup only. Informed they are out of ketchup and would packets be ok. No biggie, absolutely. (The restaurant is located next to Aldi, so....). Cold brew coffee was strong and delicious. Caramel Macchiato tasted like very cheap caramel flavoring was used (Chemical tasting). Food arrived quickly. Waitress saw the burger was incorrect and told the food runner it was wrong, but the runner still pushed it on us. The burger had Mayo, lettuce and Tomato on it but no Ketchup. Really made to feel like we were inconveniencing them when they got the order wrong. The fries were a single layer equivalent to a McDonalds kids meal portion and were the ends of the fries. Not a single whole fry in site. When the replacement came, no fries and still no ketchup packets. On to the signature 'Toasted Yolk" eggs cooked perfectly and good toast. 2 pieces of bacon. Well 1 and 3/4 actually. and about 2oz of cheese grits in a ramekin. $15 Hmmm. Cheese grits were just a gelatinous mess of cheese and grits. Very disappointing. My wife's chicken fried steak was cremated and they attempted to hide it under gravy. She didn't realize until she took two bites. The majority was inedible and so tough you would have to saw it. Once the waitress came around again we pointed out the issue. Her response was "Wish you would have told me earlier" Well, you would have to come back and check on us after the food arrived for that to happen. Remember now, still no Ketchup. So this means 2 of the 3 dishes we ordered are incorrect and no Manager has even come around. We had to flag the waitress down because she ghosted us for another 5 minutes to get our check. When presented with the check, we pointed out that the Chicken fried steak that my wife couldn't eat was still on the bill. Her response was "I told the Manager and she is not happy with the Kitchen". So my wife said I shouldn't have to pay for that or least discount it. Second check comes back and for our inconvenience we got a whole $4 discount on a $19 dish where the main item was inedible. I hope Management notices that when they opened, they had decent reviews. But since the end of June they have plummeted. Living in a town with so few options, this could have been great. Poor Management will destroy its chances. Still tipped 18%, the waitress obviously has zero support from management as I watched at least 2 of her other tables send back food also. So 3 tables in one section with multiple food issues and no Manager in site. Way to leave your crew in the wind while you hide. She really did try but I doubt they will keep any staff if this is their approach to managing hospitality. read more

Pleasant atmosphere and music, clean. Iced coffee slightly chemical- tasting (maybe the syrup?), but cold brew coffee good. Server seemed new, but was friendly. Ordered a cheeseburger (ketchup only) for my son. Came out with lettuce, tomato and mayo. No ketchup brought although asked twice. Asked only for a new top bun with no mayo as we are reasonable people, she said they'd remake the burger which was fine- she left the fries and burger (which we didn't eat) on the table. My chicken fried steak came, and I started on the hash brown casserole- tasted good. Server popped by- everything was ok at that point- waiting on new burger but son was eating the fries, still waiting on ketchup. Started on my chicken fried steak and under the gravy you could easily see it was severely overcooked/burnt. It was so hard to cut. The breading wasn't even attached to the meat. Server didn't come by for another 7-10 mins and then dropped the new burger. I showed her the meat on my plate and said it was burnt and I was done with it all- she did say if I had let her known earlier she would have had them remake it. I said it was ok I wasn't hungry anymore. (Maybe 1/5 of the meat portion was gone as I did try to work around it but it needed a steak knife (which I didn't have) it was so tough!). She came back and said she showed her manager my plate and they said something along the lines of 'not pleased at all' with it being overcooked. Waited longer for check than for the food to come. No discount was given, so I asked if something could be done as it was an $18 plate and the meat was the most expensive part of it. She returned with a 25% discount off of my plate which means I still paid $14 for a side of scrambled eggs, a side of hash brown casserole, and 1/5 of a piece of burnt meat that I attempted to eat. With two errors- one being inedible, and only a $4 discount... Our bill for 3 people was still $63. We still tipped well. But why couldn't the manager come address the meat with us if they 'weren't pleased at all' with it? $4 off was a bit ridiculous. In general, Food portions aren't worth the prices. As a new establishment with expected turnover of staff, the managers and owners need to make sure to make things right so people with not so great experiences return. I don't plan to. Also, the table across from us returned their waffle bc it was cold to touch. Kinks need to be worked out, but it shouldn't be at the expense of the customer. read more
