Visited on a Friday night around 11pm. There was a live band playing. Open floor space with a big bar in the entrance and one towards the back. Tables to sit at and games towards the back consisted of connect four and corn hole. Had a great time. Drinks were awesome. Didn't order any food. Service was great also. Visited Goldie's on a Saturday night around 8:30 p.m. and had such a fun time! There was a $5 cover charge for men (women got in free), and a rock cover band was already playing when we arrived, which added a great energy to the night without being too overwhelming. The space itself was clean and thoughtfully decorated, with a welcoming vibe from the moment we walked in. We ordered beers at the bar right away, no wait, and both went for Good Morning Vietnam from Wooden Robot (Charlotte-based brewery). It had just the right amount of coffee flavor, smooth, not overpowering, and we ended up ordering it again. Always love when you can support local and actually enjoy what you're drinking. The place was busy but not packed, which we appreciated. There was plenty of room to move around and lots of seating options: outside up front, inside near the bar, and out back where there's another bar and patio area. They even had a hot dog cart outside, which we were tempted by, but the line was long, so we passed this time. The crowd skewed young (lots of 20-somethings), but the overall vibe was energetic and fun without feeling chaotic. Staff were friendly and the beer prices were reasonable, especially for a Saturday night. We'll definitely be back. Goldie's is a live music spot with good food. I like going during the week for the specials but weekends are more packed and it feels more fun overall. The burger and fries were good, I'm excited to try their chicken tenders. I wanted to remove a star because they got rid of my favorite taco, the buffalo cauliflower with avocado, which was one of the few vegetarian options, but saw they added it as a side which sounds delicious. The employees can be hit or miss... last time I went the bartender accused me of order a Corona that was on my bill when I only ordered the night special cocktail. She worded it like "go talk to your woman" which felt disrespectful. I am literally holding a cocktail and no Corona in sight. Once you enter, there's two different counter spots to order food and then order drinks. I could see where that could be useful on a busy night. For food, my husband ordered the Born in the USA burger with French fries, which he really liked. I ordered the Like A Prayer Prime Rib sandwich with sweet potato fries - decent but not memorable. Sides aren't included in your meal FYI. For drinks, we ordered one of the frozen drinks and a beer - both were good and great after spending the day in the hot sun. Goldie's opened about a month ago in LoSo, and like many new businesses it did really well on some things and was rough on others. The high points first. The people who greeted and served us were cheery and engaging, and the manager took pity on us in the heat and let us in a few minutes before official opening time. I appreciated their demeanor and willingness to offer suggestions about what to eat and drink. Everything was spotless, and though it features live music I suspect it'll be a great place to catch a football game this fall. Food-wise, the appetizers were very good, especially the pork rinds, and getting fried Oreos outside of a state fair was bonus material. I still regret not trying the pretzel bites...next time. The not-bad but not-great included the prime rib sandwich, which with a small side was $20. It wasn't bad at all but it wasn't memorable, either. In value, quality and size it compared poorly with others in the area, especially Cheat's. The 4-Cheese Mac was...acceptable at best. Little disappointed it wasn't better, but probably good enough for people who don't think mac and cheese is the best food in the world (like I do). The low point was definitely the Born in the USA sandwich, a soggy thing with Alabama BBQ rotisserie chicken and way too much cole slaw. My husband also found two bones (which he informed me about after we'd left, so I couldn't insist he return it). The supposedly tangy Alabama BBQ sauce was indistinguishable from plain mayo, so the result was pretty flavorless. We also found it curious that a bar didn't have soft drinks on tap. Canned beverages only. A little thing but little things add up. Like no ketchup with the side of fries, and none offered. (Not a fries girl but c'mon. This is America. Ketchup with fries is de rigueur.) No napkins or eating implements with the appetizers and none to be seen for easy access...also kinda weird for a place without waitstaff. Like I said, it's the little things. So all in all, I can recommend Goldie's as a place to hang out, listen to music and get some snacks and drinks from their fairly extensive bar offerings. The place is appealing, the service dependable, but as a restaurant it hits square in the middle of the rankings. I'd give it a high three stars but I just can't bring myself to give it four stars, not with bones in the shredded chicken and horseradish sauce less horseradish-y than Arby's Horsey Sauce. If you expect decent food and drinks in a sparkling new venue, Goldie's is fine. It's more music club and bar than eatery, and as long as that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed. Your mileage may vary. But at the very least get the fried Oreos. :) read more

This is one of my favorite places to enjoy live music and vibes in LoSo! I find it so amazing that they have different bands play every single night they are open! I love that! This is our go to for a low-key but fun night out. I enjoy the warmer months even more because of the large patio areas in the front and back. It's also nice that they have several tvs and play multiple sporting events, basically the best of both worlds in there! You can find out what bands are playing each night on their website. This helps me choose prior to arriving if the vibe that night is for me or not so much. Lastly, I really appreciate that it's free to get in and after a certain time women get in for free and the cover for men is only $5. The fact that they have some security that does some form of "wanding" makes me feel just a little bit safer than a place that has no security measures at all. I love Goldie's! read more

I've stopped by 4 times over the last 6 months, including early Sunday afternoon on "Big Weiner Weekend," the supposed "glizzyfest" they were holding, and Big Weiner was closed every single time. Ridiculous! Why advertise hot dogs on the outside of your building when you never serve them? Great spot! I am new to Charlotte so haven't been frequently revisiting many places but I have come back to Goldie's many times. The drinks are delicious and well priced. The staff is kind and friendly. When there's been live music, they have been super talented. Overall, it's the a great vibe for all ages from college kids to young professionals. My only complaint was the pizza I ordered was not very good but who goes to a bar for food? The hot dogs are great and make up for the pizza. It didn't bother me but I can see how it could be tough for some if not prepared. A few friends and I went after work this past Monday evening. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was very pleasantly surprised by literally everything. First off, the space. Honestly this place has the vibe down right. Between the MCM decor, the art on the walls, the stage lighting, everything. I really liked how they have 3 different areas for food - pizza in the back (kind of speakeasy-ish vibe) with a smaller bar, normal menu at the main bar, and hot dogs at a street vendor stand up front. Outside they have some games, TVs, and plenty of seating (covered and uncovered options). Second, the live music. Live music every night?! The band that played Monday was so good. This is just a quick point but an important one! Third, the menu. Our group had the pizza, steak burger, pretzel and cheese, and the tacos, and all were delicious. I'd love to go back and try more of their menu. Very Southern themed, and everything looked great. Lastly, and this is the only reason for my 4 star rating... drinks. The beer list was phenomenal and had a ton of local options. But the cocktail menu was a little lacking. Maybe I am used to fantastic cocktails at other places around Charlotte, and need to change my perspective slightly, but I was a little disappointed by the options. I'm sure if I asked for something specific it would be fine, and I am definitely willing to try that next time I go. In the meantime, I was very content with my Wooden Robot draft :) If you're looking for something different to do around South End/LoSo, I highly recommend Goldie's. This place is a lot of fun and has a lot to offer! They have become known as a venue for live music and have acts perform every night of all different types of music. In addition they have a lot do different food options from 3 distinct menus. Goldie's Kitchen serves different varieties of tacos, burger, and sandwiches. In the back there is Tina's Pizza where you can order personal pizzas with a lot of unique toppings. Finally they have a hotdog cart where you can order giant footlong hotdogs! In addition they have an extensive cocktail menu that includes their house signatures along with some refreshing frozen drinks. Best of all they serve cheap canned beer if you feel the need to save some dough. While they are primarily a live music bar with a large stage and sound system they have plenty of TVs as well if you are looking to catch a game. I will start by saying that I don't often give reviews. I typically only review if an establishment is really good or really bad. Well, unfortunately this was a really bad one. The only good thing about this place was their women's bathroom floors. We came here on a Sunday night (Memorial Weekend) with friends after I had shared with them that they had an 80s band playing. We were all super exited! Heck, I even dressed for it. My husband was especially excited for the dog cart, as we had been once before. Well, that excitement ended very quickly as soon as we got in the door. Unfortunately the bartender ( long dark hair female) ruined it for us by her rudeness and poor costumer service. Our group went to the bar first to ask for the specials. The majority decided on the special, but I was still looking at the menu (it was a very small letter menu in a dark setting). My husband who was paying told the bartender "1 second" to give me a minute to decide to which the bartender slammed the beers down on the other side of the bar. She already seemed visibly agitated. As my husband and I were discussing drink options, she yells ( I mean yells across the bar) aggressively, " Are you going to order or not?" Mind you there was NO ONE in line behind us. I could, maybe, understand her frustration if there was a line, but there was literally no one. I proceeded to tell her I was figuring it out still, to which she replied in a very bitchy tone, well if you opened a tab you could order any time. I told her I didn't want an open tab, as I don't typically open tabs at bars. She made me feel really uncomfortable with her attitude and expressions. She was so off putting, very rude in demeanor, and set a negative tone for the night. My friends were literally looking at me saying, "what is going on; why is she yelling?" Our group decided we would not be staying there long. So our group went to sit down outside to drink the beers they ordered. Unfortunately, all the food options including the dog cart were closed, which was weird being that it was a 3 day holiday weekend. Last, before leaving I went to the restroom, and one of the bathrooms which a poor lady had come out of was clear out of TP. It seems they don't have someone checking on these things regularly, as each stall had a spot for two rolls. I found TP by the sink and placed it the bathroom for the next person. Like I stated before, I don't like giving bad reviews as I worked in service myself, so I understand that It can be hard, but this bartender was TERRIBLE. No greeting whatsoever, or hello, hi can I help you. Nothing. She honestly seemed miserable and should chose another job if she is not personable. It was one of the weirdest experiences I've had at a bar with staff. Needless to say, we won't be returning. read more

Stopped by one Thursday evening to grab food before meeting up with friends. The parking lot was an excellent bonus so we could easily access the place. I also appreciated that when we walked in there was plenty signage so we could figure out where to go to order. We started at the main food counter and ordered hush puppies, then went over to the hot dog to put our order in there. Both food items became readily available. We didn't realize how large the hot dogs were and probably could have split one. We ordered the one loaded with Mac and cheese and bacon and it was just a good, standard hot dog. The hush puppies were great and I loved the dipping sauce. I don't think they had an official musician on stage when we went but there was a guy playing very loud, not great Creed so I could've done without that.
