They were open, no lines and plenty of seats. Bonus. No one was there. Looked like 4 ppl working. Still took 30 min for our order. BLT, a pancake and a bacon egg and cheese bagel. The place is Dated and dirty. "Stuff"everywhere. It's a real greasy spoon. The food tasted good but $35 including tip was a lot. $6 for a small fresh cut fry was a lot. They were undercooked too. But again, everything tasted good. read more

The Train Station is a quaint local brakfast and lunch stop in Castanea, PA. They are open 6 AM to 2 PM daily for breakfast and lunch with a basic diner-style menu. Despite the name, the restaurant isn't in the actual (restored) Castanea train station but a few blocks away. As other reviewers have noted, the portions are generous. I ordered 2 pancakes and the cakes were thivk, fluffy, and the size of a small pizza (see photos). Food quality was good and the service was fast and friendly. Train Station serves home-cooked, diner-style food so if you sre looking for exotic or unusual offerings then look elsewhere. If you are looking for a hearty breakfast or lunch after enjoying the nearby Bald Eagle Valley Trail then this is the place for you. read more

This place is popular! We ordered pancakes to go, and it took 30 minutes for them to be ready, which would have been fine but they originally quoted me 10 over the phone. The pancakes are HUGE, and super fluffy and thick. You really only need one, and even finishing that will leave you full for a while! My husband ordered the sausage and said it tasted better than he'd had in a long time. COVID: the tables are inside and are close together, and no one wears a mask, not even the staff. To get your takeout, you still have to go inside the packed restaurant. There are no signs anywhere even recommending a mask or hand washing. Being here was probably the least safe that I've felt in terms of COVID since it all started in March. read more

I love this place, best breakfast I've had in town. The owners are really friendly and we stop here on our way through whenever we have the chance! The breakfast is fully customizable and I recommend the train wreck or the caboose! Plan to stop in for lunch at some point read more

Nice friendly folks with good solid choices for breakfast. Opens early for the regular people not the people apparently served by Fox Market who chooses to open 3.5 hours later. Mmmm. However Train Station comes shining though with hot coffee, hot food and friendliness. Definitely go and enjoy this fine establishment. Avoid those who can't get out of bed for you like Fox Market. read more

Great little luncheonette, well worth the ride off of RT. 80 in lock haven . Need to try the breakfast potatoes . Definitely stop in for breakfast next time when in the area. read more

We went here the coffee was un-drinkably disgusting tasted like pool water... The bathroom looked like that of a truck stop rest area in the middle of nowhere and our food had hair in it. Very disappointing. Will not be back ever! read more

Scrapple was cold, hash not cooked to order, SSUP eggs were a little slimy. Very expensive and I was charged twice for one item, which they quickly corrected. On a positive note the blueberry pancake was plate sized and excellent though the pre packaged maple syrup did it disservice. The omelet was spot on but the star of the breakfast was the homemade toast. I'd give them a chance to improve before going back. Sorry read more

Doesn't look like much when you walk past but I'm here to tell you the train station is an amazing little hole in the wall in Castanea! I do have to say I just had the best burgers I've had at any of the restaurants around this area and that is saying a lot. Don't drive past this place you'll miss a great burger and the prices are priceless! Give this place a try you will definitely not be disappointed. read more

This tiny diner delivered a really delicious breakfast. Be patient because there is one person cooking - at least today - but it was worth the wait. The pancakes are enormous and really fluffy with great flavor. The most important thing you must know is that they offer homemade bread as one of their toast options. It's amazing! My omelette was great but I like a thin, griddle omelette which is what they offer. If you're looking for a thick, fluffy one this one is not for you. My sister ordered "the train wreck" and thought it was completely worth the $14 price except she could only eat half of it. Don't hesitate to eat here. read more

We were traveling through and picked this place based on the reviews, but I was disappointed. My bacon cheeseburger though nice and thick didn't taste much of beef. The bacon was crisp but a little greasy. I didn't receive it with the chips as indicated on the menu. My husband ordered the chicken finger basket with cheese fries. He got only two instead of the four that the menu had, and one of them was undercooked. The fries were crispy but tasted strongly of grease. There was a large amount of cheese sauce on them. When the bill came, the server charged the full price for the chicken and then the full charge for a side of cheese fries. When we pointed it out she did reduce the bill. read more

We patronized this home style restaurant this morning. Don't let the small size fool you as the serving sizes are bountiful and the food preparation was perfect. Seriously. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached just like my mom would make them. The ham was hand sliced and the hollandaise sauce was homemade and not too thick; just right! The overall taste was wonderful! My wife ordered the French toast. The bread-egg combination was spot on; not overly soaked. The flavor was very good. We spoke to the server and chef who are both warm and inviting. I recommend that you visit them in quaint Castanea, Pa. What a wonderful treat! Thank you!!! read more

No. No. No. just stay away. Worst restaurant we have tried to eat at EVER! The chocolate milk was milk with a bit of chocolate added to it. The ice tea must have been instant. It was i drinkable. Two out of three breakfast entrees were barely touched because they were tasteless and swimming in grease. Never again. read more

When I lived in the area my wife and I ate there at least once a week. Good food, reasonably priced, good hospitality. Only reason this isn't 5 stars is the building size limits the location and size of the bathrooms. Food quality and quantity is 5 stars. Service is 5 stars. The food is almost exclusively homemade and the portions are large. Price is appropriate for the size and quality. My wife had the soup and cheese sandwich, possibly the best cheese sandwich I've tasted. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy which was delicious and very filling. Make the trip here, you will be happy. read more

If you don't know where exactly it is, you'll probably miss it because it looks just like a small house. But once you get inside, it is small and very limited on seating but you'll find some history of Lock Haven & the old Train Station on the walls! It's family owned and they treat everyone that comes in, as family!! They're food is absolutely amazing & the portions are pretty big for as little as you pay (very reasonable prices)!!!! A lot of their items on their menu is homemade! And their homemade bread is absolutely fantastic (especially when you order their toasted cheese sandwich made with it along with the tomato soup) tasting!!!! They serve breakfast & lunch all day! They don't except credit cards but I do believe they have an ATM inside. Everything is made to order and they also have a bunch of specials! They're hours are Monday-Friday 6am to 2pm and Saturday & Sunday 6am to 1pm, so if your an early bird this would be a perfect place for you to go to get some amazing food!! Now as for the staff?! They're absolutely awesome!! They engage with you, they don't leave you hanging, they are extremely friendly and fast!!!! Small restaurant with a big personality! They offer fantastic breakfast and lunch. Their house made sausage and home fries are my personal favorite. Huge portions and reasonably priced.
