Greek Omelette with Fruit and Tomatoes

Delicious food, classic diner ambiance that reminds me of home in Jersey even when I'm out in State College, and friendly service to quickly bring the coffee! Glad my party of two had a chance at the counter and they had staff checking the line to try and move smaller parties through.

This place is a classic for a reason. I recommend this location especially, the service is really fast and friendly, plus the parking is a good bonus. The food is really fairly priced and delicious. They have an expansive breakfast menu, of course anchored by the waffles. I went with a cheese omelet and loved how high quality the ingredients were. The bacon was really great as well. I also want to specifically mention the coffee, which is leaps and bounds above most diner coffee. Our lovely server topped it off often, and it was worth the very affordable price! Love this place and wish I could come for breakfast every day.

First time visit during Penn State Family Weekend! A bit of a wait so we went to the next restaurant close by. Family of 3, had coffee which was fresh, and we all ordered waffles! Eggs ordered soft with cheese, and the bacon was thick and yummy, Great place for waffles!!

Kudos to Johnny Dima...and the talented cooks at the Original Waffle Shop (OWS) for their trifecta of consistency, quality and value in serving up the best breakfast/lunch offerings around. For many decades I might add. We stopped by a few days ago for breakfast and left very satisfied! I decided to get blueberry pancakes from the weekday special menu--a great bargain for three large cakes loaded with fresh blueberries. Probably the best blueberry pancakes I've ever eaten. They had a great flavor and just the right texture to impart a melt in your mouth experience. Our daughter was pleased with her Greek omelette and whole wheat toast. My only suggestion concerns the tomatoes (admittedly used in the platter as sort of a garnish); they were a bit pale in color, and lacking a homegrown flavor. Surely, some locally grown tastier tomatoes are available this time of year. My wife ordered her go to: pecan waffles. The OWS always delivers on waffles. Crispy on the outside yet fluffy on the inside. The OWS is a State College institution and a consensus winner in the best breakfast competition. No one comes close in offering the best breakfast money can buy! Note: as the pictures will attest, we did some food sharing.

We took her granddaughter Tuesday morning on 2/25 for 21st birthday breakfast and she is a student at Penn State and had never been there. It was great. All of her food was good. Service was great. Resturant was clean. Would certainly go back.

Clea and fast service. Large selection of meals and of course the main selection is waffles. Fruit toppings or flavored syrups. Waffle were prepared nicely crust with soft center. Eggs and toast were good and toast had a flavorful butter.

The burger was that good. Because I want to end on a positive, let me start with negatives: the fries were okay. Normally these are a side dish not worth mentioning but this restaurant makes them a star with a fry menu. ( I humbling suggest they try frying in beef tallow to make it a whole other fry experience). The other critical comment is my French onion soup (on take out) was really cold and we weren't late nor (but for the fries) anything else cold. To give you reference, I microwaved for 1 minute and was still cold and did another 1:30. But it was delicious. Now, why 5 stars? The burgers. My son and I both got the Lancaster burger with horseradish mayo on the side and substituting wagyu. It was heaven. It was perfection. We still think and talk about that burger and any food that makes you miss is worth 5 stars!

The setting with the fireplace and views of the golf course and lake are beautiful. Love this spot. If you are heading to State College, give it a go!

The Greek omelet was light, fluffy, and packed with flavor. The Pesto-Port Egg Sandwich was simple but absolutely delicious with a perfectly cooked egg and great pesto. The Balsamic Garden Avocado Toast was as beautiful as it was tasty, with fresh ingredients, creamy goat cheese, pickled onions, and a rich balsamic glaze. The Spicy Mango Sriracha grilled naan was incredibly unique--the sweet and spicy combination worked perfectly. The fresh-baked pretzels are a must-try! We took home several varieties, and they were warm, soft, and some of the best we've had. Even the latte and biscotti were excellent. On top of the amazing food, watching the staff handcraft and bake the giant pretzels right behind the counter added to the experience. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and the service was fast despite the café being busy. If you're in State College, this place is absolutely worth a visit. Fresh ingredients, creative menu, outstanding baked goods, and genuinely kind people. We'll definitely be back!

Our guests had previously declared Flour & Stone one of their favorite restaurants. We were greeted cordially and seated at a small table near a hallway. During the course of the evening, we did feel an occasional draft of cool air-perhaps from the opening of an exterior door. The ambiance of the restaurant's interior is intimate, due partly to the low ceilings in our dining space. Our server brought menus and returned before long to take our drink orders. We ordered a limonata, a glass of Cantina castiadas vermentino, a Negroni, and the Fall Monty. Everyone enjoyed their libations; we shared one appetizer, the meatballs with ricotta. The sauce and meatballs were under seasoned, a bit on the bland side, and I would have preferred of touch of heat. For the entrées, we chose pork belly, lamb pappardelle, short rib gnocchi, and autumn ravioli. All the dishes were pleasing to the eye. My wife was very pleased with her ravioli; she raved about the sauce. Unfortunately, she didn't save me a drop of sauce. My pork belly consisted of a large square of pork, tender and well cooked, but on the boring side of flavor. Part of my problem was the expectation for porchetta on the menu--a dish they only prepare occasionally. The portions at Flour & Stone are perfect--no leftovers across the board. The ambience is relaxing and the staff are friendly. We're grateful to F & S for offering some rustic Italian pasta dishes, as well eclectic offerings such as rabbit, paella, Moroccan steak, and vegetarian choices. While I highly recommend Flour & Stone, I longed for more flavor and spice!

We asked for the tomahawk steak to be cooked medium rare/medium, but when it came out, it was really hard to cut with the knife that they gave us. When we sliced open the steak, it was completely raw inside. We told the waitress that it was so raw that it was touch to choose and she said that "it's thick so it's impossible to cook through". I thought that was crazy to hear from a restaurant that has tomahawk steak on their menu. If you don't think it is possible to cook it well, then it should not be on the menu.
