Eventually, we got seated after 5 minutes of waiting around (no idea what that was all about). I ordered the Grilled Breakfast Burrito ($12.29) with sausage and fruits. The burrito was simple and a b it bland. Luckily, it helped with the salsa and ketchup for more flavor. The fruits seemed previously frozen, but decent. The food was just a-okay, but the fries were crispy and crunchy. Just your typical local brunch spot with classic diner vibes and American staples. This turned out to be a funny story as I was looking for a Waffle House and not an establishment that served waffles. Happy we came though! Found meter parking right out front which was very convenient for my uniquely abled girlfriend and her service dog. Service was spot on from the host getting us a table to our server Lauren/Laura (cannot remember name, sorry!) who was professional from greeting to handing us back the credit card. Absolutely loved how she checked the back of my card and asked me for my ID which I write which gave her a well deserved tip, Thank you. Food was delicious. I had pancakes with scrambled eggs and corned beef hash, girlfriend had a vegetable dish. Pancakes were some of the best I could remember in recent memory. Could have easily eaten three more and skipped the eggs and hash. When telling our server how we ended up here she mentioned that she was from the south and understands how good the Waffle House waffles are, but she insisted theirs were better! My girlfriend enjoyed her meal although she would have enjoyed the home fries shredded, I'll have to remember to remind her about that. Great spot in a beautiful town. Very clean, very cute diner, obviously loved by locals. We got seated and coffee brought quickly (YAY!) and perused a big menu. I thought I HAD to get waffles and it was an excellent choice- light and delicious! 3 kinds of syrup too! Got a fruit cup that was very fresh and not mushy at all! The sausages were really good too. Another great lunch stop! We happened to be passing through and stumbled upon this cozy spot. The food was delicious, flavorful, and came out nice and hot. Have been trying to get to The Waffle Shop on a weekend off for a bit now, the ones in State College are always packed and the wait wasn't worth it. But we were seated immediately, on a late Sunday morning here at the Bellefonte location! Food came out SUPER fast and it was all delicious. Big fan of the diner vibe, it was beautiful inside, especially loving all the plants (that Philodendron Micans by the service door looks super happy!!) That was the case here today, with Blue/White weekend. Seated in 10 minutes. I was tempted to try something new, but stuck with eggs sausage home fries and English muffin. This place is unorganized and the food is absolutely miserable. I ordered the steak and eggs it's one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. I WOULDN'T FEED MY DOG THAT STEAK! Then the hosts tried to tell me that was a good quality steak. Look I'm a butchers son that was a flank steak that was frozen for 6 months then quickly thawed and burnt to a crisp. I may not live in PA anymore, but the Waffle Shop is IN MY BLOOD! There's just nothing that can beat a Waffle Shop omelette and side of bacon on a weekend morning. When I was last in PA, I visited the Bellefonte location with some of my childhood friends. I ordered the Veggie Harvest Omelette and a side of bacon, and let me just tell you how amazing it is that for nearly 30 years, the quality of the food at Waffle Shop has NEVER wavered. Seriously, you can bank on getting fresh, delicious, consistent food every time you come here (and that applies to all locations except the downtown State College one, from my experience). I still wish they accepted credit cards, but I'll deal with hitting up an ATM if it means getting some of dat sweet, sweet (and savory) breakfast food. read more

The service was great! The wait staff was very attentive. The exterior and interior of the building is dirty and sticky and outdated. Coffee was $2.25 with free refills. The breakfast menu averaged about $10 per plate. In my opinion, really overpriced for the quality of food. The food came out in a timely manner. Both meals were very greasy and very cheesy. Really poor quality ingredients were used. When checking out, we, along with 3 other people were unaware that it was a cash only business. (They do have a very small sign collaged with many other signs, that they are cash only) The atm in the building was out of service so we all had to go to the tobacco store across the street to use their atm (with a surcharge). Overall, it was not a pleasant experience. Would not recommend. Will not return. read more

We generally take our grandchildren here for a weekend breakfast when we are visiting them. My low rating isn't the food. The food is excellent. The Ladies bathroom is in terrible condition-rusty old waste basket, worn out toilet seat. Overall dirty appearance. Some elbow grease, a cleanable waste basket and a new toilet seat would work wonders. When the restroom looks bad you have to wonder about the kitchen cleanliness. read more

The waffle shop is a small diner that has been there forever. They also have staff who have been there a long time. I ordered poached eggs with hollandaise, bacon, and sausage. We have been patrons of the waffle shop for many, many years. We understand that it has recently changed hands, and they have done some great updates inside. However, the food quality has gone downhill very much. We were there a week ago and it was so cold in there you couldn't even takeoff your coat to eat, the waitress gave us some excuse that the windows are single pane windows, and the air comes right through. They are the same windows that have been in there for many years, and it's never been cold in there. If there's one thing I hate it's trying to eat a meal when I'm cold. plus, the food was cold in less than five minutes. The home fries that I had in my nest egg, looked like they had been cooked three or four times they were so hard you couldn't even eat them. because this is one of the few places in Bellefonte that you can get breakfast, it was always our go to. We used to go here regularly, but this morning we found a GLOVE TIP in a PANCAKE. We were both pretty grossed out, but our waitstaff handled it perfectly. She was apologetic, sympathetic, and not hysterical about it - she is the only reason it's 2 stars instead of 1. Obviously neither of us could finish our breakfast. The glove was gross, but that isn't why it's so low. It was the response of the manager. Not only did she not come to our table to apologize, she AVOIDED US. Part of her job is to come around offering coffee - she sort of came to our table, muttered about coffee and ran away before we could answer. We assumed she didn't know and was in a hurry. They removed the offending breakfast from our bill, but we had just started and I couldn't eat mine, so I didn't feel like I should pay for mine. When we went to pay, the place was jam packed and I didn't want to make a scene, so I leaned in and said "I don't know if you know" and she cut me off and borderline hissed "yes I know and I'm sorry". She seemed really annoyed us. But also, she knew and wasn't going to say anything! I said I couldn't eat my breakfast and she said "I'll just charge you for the drinks" (1 coffee). She was borderline rude to us and wasn't going to acknowledge it happened at all! You would expect the manager to want to maintain a good relationship with customers. They just lost regulars.
