Tony and his crew did an outstanding job on our property. Tony came by one day to review what we needed and he sent us a quote that same day. On the day we were scheduled for service, Tony and his crew arrived on time and got right to work. I looked out the window right after they got here and part of a large tree was already down. I was so impressed! They worked extremely hard and were very efficient. They completed everything we needed in one day and even cut firewood and chipped mulch for us from the trees that came down. Tony is very knowledgable and truly understands what it takes to curate a beautiful yard. The original owners of our house planted many trees on the property which are too close together and too close to the house, especially after 30 years of growth. Tony knew exactly what trees and limbs needed to come down in order to create both a beautiful and safe yard. This is clearly an art form to him. I really appreciated his attention to detail and how he explained everything to us. He was very clear about what he planned to do and he made sure we were on board beforehand. I have an enormous spruce tree on my property that was dying at the top, and I wanted to see if it could be saved. From the moment I requested a quote, Tree Surgeon had the advantage. I actually got a response to my note other than the words "phone number," and an offer to take a look to see if the tree could be helped. I'd had a few other companies come out to give an estimate, and all said they would advise just cutting the whole thing down. That tree is older than I am! Tony came out and recommended just removing the dead bits, that the tree could of course be saved. He also suggested they come out for the day, take care of that tree and its healthier pals on the opposite side of the yard, to trim up beneath, tidy up some dogwoods on the property, take care of these awful trees of heaven I can't seem to get rid of, and more. Tony and his crew stayed all day, fixed up a good portion of the yard, used the bits they'd cut down to mulch beneath the big spruces, and chopped me a good pile of logs for firewood too. They were professional as can be, so polite, and very knowledgeable. I shopped around with a lot of company's and took a lot of quotes. We were not looking for the cheapest bid but rather a fair bid for the scope of work and that the company had certified arborists and was fully insured for the type of work they were preforming. This is where the Tree Surgeon ticked all of the boxes, they worked with us with scheduling and they finished early ahead of schedule. And their overall price was still very competitive. The scope was to remove our very dead tree inside our church's cemetery. Since we have gravestones in there that date back to the 1700s they didn't want to take any chances ( we liked that a lot) they brought in a crane to lift big pieces out and over to their staging area, it was an impressive site to see! Our board we'll be working with the Tree Surgeon again because of their professionalism and their quality of service, they also chipped up some debris our grounds keeper piled on the other side of the property, it wasn't even in the scope and they still did that! I discovered Tony Flay by chance when I called a number about firewood last fall. Not only was the firewood excellent quality, which in this area can be hit or miss, but Tony gave me some free advice about some trees. I hired him in the spring to remove one dying maple and trim up another two trees. The quality of the work was excellent and the price was good. The Flays' goal is to leave you with a healthier but still beautiful tree, which they did. They also found a rather unusual tree variety that I wanted to plant. It had to come from far away, but Tony found one and it has never even so much as looked poorly. Everything I have asked of the Flays from firewood to tree removal to trimming to planting has been excellent. They do what they say and they check up afterword. They even came out after a thunderstorm injured a branch too high up for me to reach. Tony and his staff were with us for four days , transforming our property from an overgrown state to an area with a beautiful view. They removed multiple trees and shrubs, as well as trimming many trees so that now we can look out our windows and enjoy the view into our woods. I cannot say enough positive things about Tony and his staff. I really should have provided this quote several years ago. I've had a number of drive thru operators give me quotes, but I wanted someone who could really give me a good assessment on a large tree in my front yard. One drive thru offered to take the top of the tree for an exorbitant amount of money. I found the Tree Surgeon on yelp and requested a quote. Within minutes, I received a message (Tony's brilliant son) and we arranged a visit. Tony shows up, looks the tree over and blew all the other drive thru operator's out of the water with a great assessment and an unbelievable price. A certified arborist gave me the best price! Tony and his crew came and cut down my sick tree, took out the stump and distributed the wood chips where i needed mulch. My neighbor was interested in the wood and they delivered the wood to his yard. We had a large tree to be removed for additional home projects. We went through the process of receiving quotes from multiple contractors. All of the prices were comparable. But, the knowledge and appreciation for nature separated the Tree Surgeon. We knew we wanted Tree Surgeon after the first meeting. On the day of the work, Tony and his team were right on time. They worked throughout the 100 degree day. They identified some other issues in our property and did the work at no additional cost. This included removing another dead tree and dead limbs. They also trimmed a tree that was hanging into our driveway and another blocking our house. The whole team was professional, diligent, and cleaned the whole work area. I cannot recommend Tree Surgeon enough. Whatever service you require, they are the only ones you need. They did a fantastic and thorough job. Often times when one contracts out work, one is lucky to have one person on the crew that knows what is going on and the rest of the crew is struggling to figure out which end of the hammer to hold. That is not the case with The Tree Surgeon. Tony, PJ, Handle, and Mark worked on my property for 3 full days. They were all professional, courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. They all knew what the goal was and they made it happen. An interesting thing I noticed about them is that they actually LOVE trees.....weird, right? If it makes sense, they would rather trim a tree and clean it up and leave it for the next generation to enjoy than cut it down. They saved a couple trees that I would have had cut down. These folks are just awesome. We had an ash tree in the front yard that was half-dead due to the emerald ash borer. Tony came out and looked at it and determined that it was, unfortunately, too far gone to be saved. But he gave us good advice on an appropriate replacement tree (we ended up picking a pink-flowering dogwood). He and the crew came back and removed the ash with great dispatch and quickly replaced it with a very nice little tree. The price for the work was very reasonable. When I chatted with Tony afterwards, his love for the trees and passion for his work really shone through. He's a great guy, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Fabulous service! PJ and Tony are trustworthy and experts about trees and bugs. Yes, will always use them to help me with trees. Use these guys! Very friendly family owned company, prompt and polite, a pleasure! They do great work and reasonably priced. They listened to all my problems, and gave me great advice with a plan on how to get rid of all the dead trees, help the live ones, and explained what they do. They cut down a lot of dead ash trees from the Emerald Ash borer that unfortunately killed them. PJ, Tony and their crew spent 5 days sawing, climbing, felling, chipping, ground stumps down, hauling mulch, and even cleaning up all the debris. (very interesting to watch). Tony, PJ and Mark were great! I called 5pm and Tony came out to do the estimate the following day before noon! I gave him a big list of what I needed done and he offered advice which was a huge help. The estimate was great for the amount of work that needed to be done. When I asked when he could do the job, he was able to return in a couple of hours and did the job the same day with PJ and Mark. In addition to the proposed job, PJ and Mark eagerly did some additional clean up around the property that I didn't even ask for. They are all hard working and professional. Overall, the work and cleanup were done promptly and efficiently. Then Tony offered to leave wood chip mulch at no extra cost. Couldn't be more impressed with the response and service. We had a large pre-Civil War oak that was a centerpiece of our front yard that had finally expired after years of decline. Rather than take it out completely we wanted to selectively prune it back into a sculpture we could continue to enjoy looking at. Tony responded to my email and came by to investigate the same day. When the day came Patrick truly embraced our "art project" and went above and beyond. The Tree Surgeon crew removed a tall dead tree that was in danger of falling on our house in West Virginia. Tony was pleasant to deal with, and we didn't have to wait too long before he and the crew got the work done. Wood from the tree was stacked in the appropriate place and the site was left in good condition, i.e. I had asked my son to photograph the area where the tree had been located to see what other trees might have been impacted when the tree fell and whether any branches remained littering the forest. According to my son, the only thing visible was the tree stump and some sawdust. Otherwise the site was immaculate. From all evidence, the Tree Surgeon did an excellent job. read more

Tony came out and did an overall assessment of my entire 3 acre property and gave me some suggestions to clean up the property lines. We are staging the work and had the first part done last week. Initially afraid that the Japanese snowbell in front of my house had contracted some kind of disease and might have to be taken down, Tony advised that the lichen posed no threat. He suggested some minor pruning and shaping, which I agreed was needed. He and Padraig did an outstanding job and fertilized and mulched the front yard as well for a very reasonable price. My front yard looks better now than it ever has. Their concern about preserving and enhancing the trees and plant life was obvious; it is clearly more than just a job to them. We had two very difficult and old-- close to the house-- trees that needed to be removed for safety reasons. Tony Flay's crew did a masterful job with the removal...on the most dangerous one, using a crane to cut and lift pieces over the house. They climbed another and did a great job trimming out the dead wood. The crew cleaned up everything just perfectly. And the pricing on all this difficult tree work we thought was very fair.
