My review is only for the bar outside the theater. We arrived during a show and hit the bar in the lobby. It was pretty dark and empty which was fine with us. We ordered a couple drinks, a beer and rum and coke. Had fun snuggling up and catching up at the bar. The service was okay, no complaints. I guess from the pictures, it's best to see the real show in action. When the show let out, everyone was all dressed up and a couple in drag. Seemed like a fun event spot, even though I only sat at the outside bar. read more

The band Bowievision was a disappointment. It seemed like they were unpracticed. There was generally low energy on stage, like they were afraid to be up there. Very awkward. We left halfway through the show :( The food and drinks are expensive, but good. The price makes sense to support the dinner+theater kind of thing. I will try the Triple Door again. Granted, we went there to pick up some friends on Salsa Night, so not really the scene we were hoping for, but our friends work there so we got the back-stage tour. My boyfriend once won tickets to a benefit performance here, and we had a pretty good time and enjoyed the venue and staff. It was a little pricier than we had expected at the time (about $50 for 1 appetizer, 2 dinners, 1 beer), but the atmosphere is worth it. (Personal note: I've had plenty of amazing Thai food at places where it's about $7-8 a plate and the only difference I've so far seen in the "higher end" Thai restaurants is that they generally give you smaller portions and have fancier decorations.) The food: I remember having a delicious mushroom appetizer, but that we ended up leaving almost the entire plate of phad thai uneaten. It didn't taste like what we expect from phad thai, and it got much worse as it got colder. That was 2-3 years ago, though, so perhaps it's gotten better? read more

So, this is a very divided review. That is part of the Triple Door is 4-5 Star (the venue and shows), then there is the 1-2 star portion and that is the food. Over the years I have gone to many shows here and I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with the venue and shows. There really are no bad seats, the sound is good. No real complaints regarding the drinks and service, the servers are usually pretty good. Now the sad part, and it has been consistent, unfortunately for years now, the food is horrible and often cold. I mean really, it has been years and I am not the only one who has mentioned this. Why has management not gotten the message and tried to correct this? So, the message I can give is this, go for the shows but definitely eat elsewhere. read more

Got to show an hour early and went to their lounge for cocktails........40 minutes later we finally got our drinks. No sense of urgency by wait staff (with exception of one bartender who was doing his best to make up for other slackers). Service during the show was no better at all. Stopped by Tula's Jazz bar and they were having a band with cover. They highly recommended triple door for music. We decided to try to check it out! When we got there the girl at front desk looked at us funny said bar that way. We sat at a booth a gentleman came up couple minutes later gave us water. We asked about drinks and he said I don't know anything about that. Said waiter be with us shortly. 10-15 minutes later no one came up to us or acknowledged our table. We decided to move on and even as we were leaving no one asked us anything even the water guy. Will not go back or recommend this place. Seemed like they only helped out the regulars . read more

This is a great music venue. I've been going to shows here for 20 years, and I love it. There isn't a bad seat in the house, and the acoustics are fantastic. But don't eat here. Years ago this was also a great place to have dinner while you were at a show. But then they changed chefs, changed menus, and generally it's been horrible ever since. I went there again last night for the first time since COVID, and I ordered food hoping it would be better. It was not. I ordered Chicken Pad Thai. It came out really fast, but it was lukewarm and the noodles were not so much al dente as undercooked. But the worst was that it was supposed to be CHICKEN Pad Thai. My first bite I bit into something thinking it was chicken but it turned out to be tofu. So I looked at all the other bits that could have been chicken and realized they were also tofu. I picked through the entire dish and found 5 tiny bits of actual chicken, each smaller than the nail on my pinky. So I asked the waitress to have the kitchen re-make it, and be sure to include chicken this time. She came back and told me that the kitchen said they would have to charge for "extra chicken". Are you kidding me? There wasn't any chicken in it in the first place! I cancelled the meal and ate elsewhere after the concert. Which is what I will continue to do. So enjoy the show, but eat somewhere else. Really. It's just bad. read more

The service ranges from good to non existant depending on the evening . Really this could be a really amazing venue if the only they upped their game a bit in the food and decor dept. What started out as a not so great experience, was turned around to a wonderful time, thanks to Kira at the front desk. Her professional demeanor and ability to turn a bad situation into such a great time is highly appreciated. My friend got delayed on a flight and had already reserved and paid for a show and wasn't going to make it on time. So they we were able to credo him for a upcoming thurs show. The food and setting is fab. If u come and stay in downtown seattle u need to check out the music scene at triple door. It's got the pacific northwest feel with the Austin city limits and nashville music vibe. We saw the whidbey island based band called the Halyards- debut their new cd, fortunate smiles. I think I would have liked this place a bit more if we stayed upstairs in the lounge. Instead we bought $45.00 for a (Christian) folk music performance downstairs. We came for food and music, so we got the show tickets for a band we've never heard of and a music genre we didn't quite enjoy. And we were told that no one will be playing up where the bar was. What do you know? We walked upstairs mid-performance to a band that was a better jam for us. Thanks a lot to the usher who lied and sold us $45.00 per person (3 ppl) for one band that she couldn't tell us about. We are Asian people from the hoods of San Francisco Bay Area. Most of the patrons were older white folks from the state of Ohio. Over the Rhine put on a good performance. However, the music wasn't our vibe and we were trying not to fall asleep with their sweet lullaby. Onto to the food: Yes. It is an Asian fusion eatery. However, I didn't feel like I was eating any element of Asian food. I got the wild duck. The bun was on point, the sauce was not. And the duck wasn't juicy enough. Trust me half a duck is too much, so go for the smaller portion. The seven beef was quite tasty and the mandarin chicken is good. Overall, the food was mediocre. I could tell it was made for a non-Asian palate at an overpriced rate. Or for people who have never had Asian food before. It was like that one time when I foolishly had dim sum in Beverly Hills where each small plate was $5 and the food was bland as heck. And fyi, dim sum should be about $1-$3 per plate. If I ever do go to triple door again, I will most likely stay upstairs by the bar. read more

So, sitting down for a show is a new thing for me. I'm much more accustomed to the packed-into-a-club-what's-a-table style of show. Waiting in line for bathrooms, drinks and food is out of the question. I must say, it was quite bizarre to sit down for a meal in the same place I would be seated through the show. As a really short person, I generally don't get to see much of a band. I get to hear them, I get to have the second-hand-account of the visual joke shouted into my ear. I had no such trouble at the Triple Door. Even with a man well over six feet tall seated at the table in front of me, I could see all of the stage. I got all of the visual jokes. The sound was amazing. As for the food - it was fantastic. The drinks were great - I had a mango-and-lime daiquiri and I'm normally a rum-and-coke or whiskey neat kind of girl. Service was wonderful - the waiter was nearly invisible but accessible at the same time which is a very, very fine line to walk even if you aren't trying to to duck being in the way of a performance. Early arrival does seem to be the best plan - I would not want to try and order complicated drinks or ask questions about desserts during the show. The least awesome thing about this place? The bathrooms. The ladies was clean-looking but by no means tidy (as in, it looked like a group of women came in and trashed it at some point early in the night). Definitely recommended as a venue... though I'm still not sure about the lack of an ability to dance. read more

This place Is the perfect place to watch a jazz show or to attend a charity event. The seats are comfy and the acoustics are terrific. It's a 6/5 for that alone. We've been here a few times and the food is probably just ok. U have to pick the right items. The Asian vegetarian curry is terrific. I recommend the spicy green beans and the Ahi. Then we went to our seats and ordered the Thai noodles and their seven flavor beef. Both dishes arrived cold, and the Thai Noodles were absolutely disgusting! 2 shrimps, one calamari & 2 miniature scallops swimming in grease and bland cold wide noodles. Yuck! We barely touched it and told the waitress about it. She gave me a free coffee to "try to make up for not us liking dish". Ha ha haa seriously? Did you know that The Triple Door began its origins as an old vaudeville house from the 20s. Neither did I until I did a little research and learned that the historic Mann building originally housed the Embassy Theatre. Over time as the public's tastes changed, it began to project first-run films instead of vaudevillian shows. By the 1960s, it's heyday was over. It began to run adult films and operated as a burlesque house until its closure in 1983. The building was purchased in 1999 with the goal to build an upscale music + dinner theatre in the old theatre. Several years later, the renovations began and every effort was employed to keep the viable parts of the old Embassy - things like the original ceiling fixtures and the stage proscenium and ceiling fixtures. But enough about the theatre, you are reading this to find out about the theatre + the food, right? So let's follow the host downstairs into the Main Theatre. Pause for a moment to take in the cozy arrangement of stylish booths arrayed around the stage and dimmed mood lighting before proceeding to your table. Order some drinks and peruse the menu voted Seattle's best food for over a decade by the folks over at Zagat. The food. I agree with what someone said about its range from pretty good to excellent. I've only had one misstep and our waiter rectified it quickly. We ordered the stuffed shiitake mushroom caps. They arrived to the table appearing cooked but the centre was gummy. The kitchen remade a batch for our table but even with a longer cooking time, I felt they were too overfilled to cook properly in the mushroom cap. My boyfriend loves their Peking duck and will order it without fail as an appetizer or a full meal. I wish their side dishes were cheaper because the green beans are tasty but not worth the price. If you have 1 - 4 people in your party, you can pre-pay for your tickets and a dining/beverage credit. What you get is a reserved booth and a credit for $160.00. We opted for this offer at the Yoshida brothers show and were able to try every satay they offered along with a fair amount of drinks for the four of us. There's a photograph of this if you're curious. We've seen many fine performances here and will continue to do so. Each time, we have been pleased with the sight lines + acoustics. The wait staff is expedient and friendly. And we've never felt pressure to order food, you can just get drinks + dessert, as we have done before or simply drinks. Bottom line is if a perfomance piques your interest, you should go. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

I so wanted to give this a better review. Really! I've been here many time for various events, concerts, recording sessions. So Ive been wondering why the last few times I've come for a dinner show it has been a bit lackluster? The food has been the main issue and lack of attention to simple details. For example: the post stickers were cold and reheated? The lamb chops were seasoned well though laying in a half inch of oil on the plate. They were also so fatty that more that half of the three chops for $27. We're inedible? The rice was ok, and the salad was fine though overdressed. As a rule I generally don't complain but when you have a plate of fat in front of you and share your not too thrilled with the waitress and they say "sorry." It leaves you wondering what the hell? Dinner theater is notorious for not so great food but this place has in the past always been pretty good. I'll come back for the shows but dinner will not be part of the party plans unfortunately. read more

We visited this venue just after Christmas and had a fun time seeing the show. But I can only offer a single star due to food poisoning from the chicken and pork dumplings that I ate....within 30 min of leaving I started to throw up very violently and badly, a sickness that lasted over 36 hrs...totally ruined our short trip to Seattle. A warning to all DO NOT ORDER THE CHICKEN PORK DUMPLINGS....too much can go wrong with this dish, I was foolish to order these here...that's on me, also upon visiting the men's room I noticed that (2) sinks were full of vomit...Looks like I wasn't the only one who had the dumplings that night. Otherwise the show itself was fun...not a bad seat in the house. I can recommend seeing the show...But stick to having drinks only. read more

Great place to go, if you love staring at a wall. This past weekend marks my third and final visit to the Triple Door. Over the past three years I've gone three times, all three times they sat me to the far left-hand corner of the stage facing a wall. Twice, I brought other people with me to pay full price and stare at a wall. It was incredibly boring save for the embarrassment. I do not even pretend to understand why they sell out these seats, it's actually insulting. I'll be forwarding this review to customer service at the Triple Door if that actually exists. The only reason I went this time is because the Halloween show was a Can Can show and I love the Can Can. I'm sure it was great for those who could actually see the stage. Go to the Can Can instead, there really isn't a bad seat in that house and it costs half as much, so I guess really you could look at it as twice the value! read more

Drink specials on weeknights will really help this place! I wandered in here after a show at The Showbox, seeing the happy hour after 10pm board outside. Well, that's not drinks, just food. Not a lot of GF items on the menu either. I wasn't really hungry that late so I was really hoping for some drink specials. Nada. Got a $6 cider - at least it was local! It was a Monday night and this place was dead'er than a doornail. It was the live band, one of the band member's parents (I'm assuming....or their elderly fan club of two) and one other dude. We were outnumbered by the fish in the tank. Staff was nice and the bathrooms were clean. Soooo, I'd really like to try this place again when there's a show, to get the "real" experience..?! Fantastic venue for live music and show. Our first time here, we showed up early for happy hour and the selection is phenomenal. The desserts are pretty amazing as well, I had the chocolate tarte with ice cream - the only caveat is, I requested coconut gelato and got vanilla ice cream. The guava cheesecake was fantastic! The happy hour chicken dish was a bit salty but Mongolian beef was fantastic! The chicken chieu salad was fantastic and potstickers also quite good. read more

My favorite venue anywhere. Whenever I'm looking to see a show in the area, I hope they're playing here. The lighting and decor makes for a lovely vibe inside, the food and drinks are great, and every member of the staff I've interacted with (across two visits) is a delight. On my second visit, I spent some time at the lounge upstairs for the first time, and left with the same positive impressions as from the service and food inside the theatre proper. The Triple Door social media staff even had kind words to say about some photos I posted on Twitter, which was a surprisingly attentive thing to do! read more

Attended the New Years event and the Earth Wind and Fire cover band was amazing. The package included appetizers , dessert and glass of champagne for the toast at midnight . I did not realize it was possible to serve that small of a serving of appetizers. I've been here a handful of times now and overall I say it's been fun! The food selection gets better. I didn't like it much before but they've tweeked it enough where everyone has something they could eat from it and it's not too shabby. The price is reasonable relative to their pricey drink selections. (keep an eye out for drink special they create that compliment each show - this makes it fun) One thing I love about this place is that they didn't sell out to Ticketmaster and the ticket prices are lower than just the fees Ticketmaster would have charged just for themselves, if you know what I mean. Thank you for the super reasonable venue price! But I know I'll pay for it in F&B. lol it took me several visits to find out which seats are just the best in the establishment based on the layout. Some seats are inconvenient or just uncomfortably blocking guests and staff members. I got my eye out on select seats now! The venue will vary between jazz to burlesque. I love the variety and frequency of their shows. The feel is classy and personal with the layout of an old time speak easy with a personal coziness. read more

This review is specifically about the "Thai style roasted chicken" ($29). The menu describes it thusly: coconut lemongrass & fragrant herb marinated organic free range half chicken, wasabi mashed potatoes and white miso glazed brussel sprouts First off, it is NOT half a chicken. It's a quarter, consisting of a leg and a piece of breast. Secondly, the chicken was bland, as were the mashed potatoes. There was nothing "Thai" about it. It's sad when the best part of a dish is the brussel sprouts. This menu item is not honestly described and is ridiculously over-priced. Too bad Wild Ginger isn't doing the food any more. read more

I've been to The Triple Door twice and it was amazing both times! It's a fun place where you can enjoy shows, great food, and amazing cocktails all at the same time. We had dinner at Wild Ginger which was awesome, we did the family style with Pad Thai, sauteed prawns, papaya salad and some duck. Everyone was satisfied with the meal and we went down to the bar at The Triple Door. There was live music going on and a giant fish tank, and the cocktails were excellent. It was fun to hang out at the bar there until our show started rather than trying to find a bar to wait in. The venue is really cool with comfortable booth seats and the stage that looks like it's in a frame. We could finish the drink from the bar at our seat and order more food and drinks there as well. The servers were really nice. Both Napa Valley Mojito and Honey Sangria were so good that we ended up ordering pitchers afterward. It's really cool that there's a dinner theater like The Triple Door in downtown Seattle. I will go back for a different show for sure! read more

It is called veggie samosa on the menu. Avoid! Unless you wish to taste cardboard shaped into dumplings form. White cabbage around it, wilted with brownish ends and the sweet thai chili dipping sauce was a cheap over sweetened something to accompany all. Told the bartender and was told that they weren't hot because the other ingredients are cold to start with... she offered more hot water, and when I pointed out that we'd then have diluted and watery drinks, she said she couldn't help us. The best part of the venue was the actual performer. Though our server was nice, the time it took to take our order and to bring our order was so long the show was almost over. Speaking of the food it all came out barely warm. I order the Wagyu thinking I'm in for a little treat seeing as the entire point of wagyu is that it's rather rare in the US and one of the softest, fattiest, and tastiest cuts of beef on the planet. What I received was the smallest skewers of TOUGH GROUND WAGYU, which you can literally buy at any grocery store for barely more than normal ground beef. And they have the audacity to charge what they do for that and my friends cold mediocre Pad Thai. Their menu was very misleading bordering on straight falsehoods. Super disrespectful to try and trick people paying to watch a show. Any of the local bars in the area will respect your culinary awareness 10 fold over the triple door. I would have hoped the food would be at least as good as the show if you're paying the same if not more for it. The sad thing is I'm not even a chef but can see how poor their fake fancy menu is trying to be. Remember, you don't need to be a fighter pilot to know a jet doesn't belong in a tree. First of all, I do not do reviews... but our recent experience here at the Triple Door was freaky! It was a great show to see for my wife's 50th birthday and aside from the fabulous act and sound that we should have been able to make it through, we were terribly cut short due to immediate onset food poisoning! To top it off there are cockroaches in the men's restroom!!! See pic...I caught one running around on the wash counter. We ordered the fragrant duck and shumai... we always look forward to the duck as it is usually tender and crispy and down right delicious, but this time it came out and was very tough and seemed cooked too fast...kind of like gnawing on rubber chicken... and the shumai was terribly salty... About 45 minutes into the show and after dredging through our meal, my wife hit the restroom for the beginning phases of launching from both ends! The staff was very nice and accommodating to us through the process and we are grateful for them. But, the food and pest control issues were applauding to say the least... super unfortunate because we used to love this place... uggghhh!!! read more

If you are seeing an act, you need to be prepared to lower your standards for the venue itself. After reserving a booth close to stage for 4 people we showed up with a party of 2. I explained to the hostess, "the other 2 in our party were exposed to Covid and choose not to utilize their tickets for the safety of others" . She looked blankly at me and asked, "you're asking for a refund?" , I then explained , that would be nice but I understand if not. Still blank stare. She stated they wouldn't give away my paid tickets to someone one else to sit in the booth with us in place of our guests. ... yeah, I would think that would be a reasonable assumption. She presented it as a favor. Okay? Letting it go. Once in line to be seated I run to the ladies room. Upon returning to meet up with my husband at the table he explains the drama being seated. The host directed my husband to our private booth sharing he was new and "oh excellent seats". Mid way there, both my husband and the new employee were stopped by ANOTHER employee asking to see their tickets proving they are in the correct section and to wait to be seated. WTF? Finally when he realized his mistake, rather than apologizing, he proceeded to say; "Just follow me" to my husband. Once seated , after 10 minutes we had to flag down a staff member to take an order for appetizer and bottle of wine not having any idea who our server was. The kind waitress said she was not our server, but would take out order and give it to the person assigned to us. "Great" I thought, no problem. 20 min goes by, track down another staff member as the show starts asking about our order. - No order . We place it AGAIN. "Bottle of wine and 2 appetizer " legit nothing for 15 more minutes and missing the bottle of wine. This order is not difficult. I remind them again of the bottle of wine grudgingly. Finally 15 more minutes later over 1/2 way into the show, wine arrives. Waitresss fumbles through opening it and get it eventually, thankfully finish it prior to the show closing and tip god know who. When you dont know who your server is, there is a problem.
