    The Central Station
    Anton K.

I've been to Seattle several times. I saw the Space Needle and the Mariners. I visited the Chihuly Gardens and Glass, as well as their Natural History Museum. So the day before my return flight to EWR, I went to the Central Saloon for a drink. The Central Saloon is the oldest saloon in Seattle dating to 1892. I'm from the East coast so that is not all that old. Never the less, in Seattle it is old. Aside from dating back to 1892 and it shows in some respects, The Central Saloon is where the music genre called "GRUNGE" began. Bands of 80's and 90's began playing their music in Seattle and The Central Station. Bands like Nirvana "Smells like teen Spirit", Sound Garden "Black Hole Sun" and Alice in Chains "No Excuses" lit up Seattle and the music world. The Central Station explodes with posters and photos of that time period with lots of colorful lighting and a antique bar that serves beer on tap. I love those old bars. Drinks are lower priced here than other saloons in Seattle. There is a small stage which can accommodate todays aspiring bands. I confess, I stayed longer than I should have. let's say I had more than one drink and if I lived in Seattle, this would not have been my last visit.

So fun! No frills dive-y bar. Love that it has a bit of history. Live band was fun and bartender was super nice!

The epitome of a dive bar. Probably the cheapest drinks you'll find in the city, but limited seating and loud (even without live music). Not bad for a single drink, but I wouldn't want to stay here longer than that.

Great music venue! Seasonal dates! Fri-Sat right now...

Swung in for a drink and the blonde bar tender was the sweetest and most attentive bartender. Highly recommend visiting this place.

Carly was the best bartender I've ever had! She's as beautiful outside as she is on the inside. Awesome service! I will be back for Carly.

Nice old bar in Seattle. If you want prompt Rainier and a shot of marginal whiskey it's a great place.

It's nice to watch the staff cook because it tells you that the food is fresh. I have high expectations for seafood in Seattle. However, I was disappointed with the scallops as it tasted raw and cool to the touch in the center. I'm not a scallop expert but this one missed the mark - the flavors were off with the sauce (tasted earthy). Presentation and color looked good, but this didn't taste good. Also came here breakfast several times. I don't have pictures, but each time the breakfast was amazing!

Every custom flight is tailored to your specific taste and price point which I love. Hannah, one of their whiskey curators, is super knowledgeable and created one of the most memorable bourbon flights I've ever had with super rare allocated stuff. The service here is extremely friendly. I was speaking with Hannah about what I wanted in my flight and shared my wish list. Based on that, she chose 4 esoteric bottles that each had their own characteristics that would be interesting to compare against one another. My flight consisted of the Pappy Van Winkle 23 years, Colonel EH Taylor Distiller's Council, Very Olde St. Nick Superfreak, and Wild Turkey Austin Nichols 16 years. It was super nice trying all of these rare bottles that I wouldn't even be able to find, and they were all interesting and delicious! The food here is also fantastic. We came during happy hour since the food is a lot cheaper. My favorite things were the Dry Aged Steak Frites and the Crispy Pork Belly. The steak was cooked perfectly and extremely tender with a great beefy flavor. I love a good french fry and these were fresh and crispy. The pork belly was tender and fatty but the fat was nicely rendered so it wasn't chewy. I love the Asian inspired flavors and the kimchi slaw provided the perfect acidity and freshness to complement the fatty pork belly.

Our server was friendly, answered all of our questions about the menu, and gave some great recommendations, which made choosing what to order much easier. I ended up getting the Dry Aged Steak Frites from the Happy Hour menu and OMG!! The steak, cooked medium, was incredibly juicy and tender!! I was so sad when I got down to the last bite lol As for the Russet French Fries, they were perfectly seasoned and just the right size. I especially enjoyed dipping them into the Fermented Chili Aioli. To which I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't actually spicy, given that I do have a pretty low spice tolerance lol. Overall, I'd definitely come back again! :)

UPDATE 2/22/26 I see that Vince U (Yelper right before us) deleted his comments about not receiving a rose and thought maybe it was Violet being possibly biased against gay couples. I understand why it was deleted but wanted to give context around my first paragraph above. We were very underwhelmed by the prix menu for Valentines dinner. I noticed Vince U did not take a picture of the lamb, which was about the size of a half-dollar coin, if anyone remembers what those are LOL. Yes the two bites of lamb was decent but nothing to write home about. Agreed, the Risotto was very delicious indeed, salmon was great, chocolate desert was very, very good, otherwise the rest was OK. But I wouldn't agree to understanding the assignment, for us. I had the wine flight and I love a good wine. These were all OK wines. I get it, you have to watch your costs and make a good profit, to which I totally agree. I wish we would have tried Violet our first time for the regular menu. I'm guessing we would have rated 4 or 5 stars more than likely. For a bill of $400+ (including a great tip because we love to support) we felt like we were almost ripped off. I get it, it's a special occasion and lots of work goes in to these things but walking out of there $400+ poorer really made us feel bad, from a value perspective. We never mind paying for value, but this was not it and did not hit the mark for us.

I have been to this place many times and I think this time is going down hill...with rude services. Last night's dinner was a complete flop. First, you quietly added a 4% "operational fee" without informing us, then another 10% tax, while still expecting an additional 20% tip? Dinner for two ended up costing nearly $350 -- meanwhile, last week in Toulouse I had a far better dinner for less than 100 euros. To make matters worse, you poured butter mixed with anchovies over our steak, completely destroying the natural flavor of the beef. The "au poivre" sauce on the side ($5 extra) was honestly terrible. And the steaks are charred and bitter. The final insult came when the manager walked over and very rudely told me I needed to put my feet properly inside my new $1000 Louis Vuitton sandals. When I said there was a nicer way to speak to customers, he replied, "I'm just being honest." Well, honesty without manners is simply rudeness. Look at my photos, salad, mussels, and steaks are too small. And your wine is horrible, how many days have they been opened? You have such a beautiful view of the Pike Place Public Market sign and although there are passerby's near you, it's actually not that bad. We did have one man start talking to us as he went by, believe he was homeless unfortunately or a little odd but that didn't ruin our evening! The hostess and servers are quite nice! We looked over the menu and got one of their most famous mocktails that has a CBD seltzer, a Citrus Zen-Rita, and I asked how strong it would be, relaxing or energy wise and she said it was an equivalent of a Chamomile tea!
