Decent food and alot of vegan options. Our server was very nice and relatively helpful. Her English skills didn't seem sufficient for her to either understand the question "can you make Thai iced tea with coconut milk instead of dairy?" or to explain that the tea was pre-mixed. The eggplant was delicious. The garlic pepper tofu was a bit dry overall but had good flavor. I'm not sure but I think I tasted fish sauce in the Phanaeng Curry and the Tom Kha soup that was supposed to be Vegetarian. That said, both were pretty good. My friends and I went to The Tropical for our monthly GNO! We ordered the corn cakes and fried dumplings for appetizers. We couldn't decide which one was better. They were both excellent and very nicely presented. My friend and I shared the Panang with chicken and the Pad Thai with tofu. We ordered them both with medium heat but the Panang was considerably more spicy. But they were both delicious plates. They also had fun summer drinks and I enjoyed a Tamarind margarita! Yum! Being vegan in Tulsa is hard, but the Tropical makes it soooo easy! Order almost anything on the menu and ask them to "make it vegan!" Be sure if you don't like spice to ask for it mild, or you can ramp it up and get extra spice! We used to LOVE this place. I used to plane huge birthday parties here for my family! This time my family flew in from California so we of course took them to The Tropical! I ordered the Nam prik fried rice with shrimp. When my plate arrived the whole table could smell the rotten shrimp. It was so bad that we asked for it to be taken away immediately before I got sick. When the wait and back out to ask what was wrong we all told her about the smell. She took it away and asked what I wanted instead. I told her I would like the crab fried rice as a replacement... SHE LAUGHED IN MY FACE! She said the crab was going to smell like that too and I wouldn't like it. I know what seafood is supposed to smell like! I ran a seafood department for years! I've never had an experience like this before at a restaurant. I never complain about subpar food and I'm always super polite to service industry workers... this was terrible. It was also super embarrassing for my out of town family to watch me get laughed at when I asked for something else. We FINALLY remembered to try this place! Living in Tulsa, there is a lot of competition with restaurants, and it's hard to decide. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. We were seated immediately and then after that, the service was somewhat slow. We were there at an off time, so I don't know if that helped or hurt the service. The food was SO GOOD! We shared the Tom Kha appetizer with medium spice. Next time, I would add rice to it, but that's just my preference when eating it. I really like that they offer a lunch menu every day, rather than just Monday-Friday! That helped keep our dining cost down a little, because the prices are slightly higher than expected. I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken with medium spice, and it was perfect! My husband ordered a dish with hot spice, and he was sweating quite a bit, but loved it! As far as the drink prices, I felt like they were entirely too high. Average cost for a cocktail was $10-$12. They even visibly marked out $9 and put $12 on one drink. If drinks came down a few bucks, I would give this 5 stars. We will definitely be back! read more

They offer plenty of options even for a pain in the butt Vegan like me. I have hit up this spot several times for lunch and made it in and out very quickly and have yet to leave unhappy. We just got back from Thailand, and the food at The Tropical is authentic- and spicy. We had the papaya salad (which comes with chicken wings and would make a great meal in itself), the green curry, and the pad thai. The spice levels are serious, so stick with a one or two if you want mild medium. The inside is pretty nice and spacious, and is a good place for a business lunch or maybe a date. There is some outside seating as well, although there's not much to look at in that location. The staff is friendly and the service is quick. The lunch specials are well priced too! read more

Excellent cocktail and beer options. We ordered the papaya salad which came with crispy chicken wings! So good. Also got panang curry with tofu, beef Kaprao (chili garlic), shrimp pad thai and crab fried rice. Pad Thai and rice were out of this world! Large shrimp and GIANT chunks of crab. We asked for medium spice level which was perfect- had a definite kick but not too crazy. Only wish they had those green chilies to add and that the curry dishes were in a bowl to make it easy to get to the sauce. Can't forget the mango sticky rice which is seasonal. My most favorite dessert!!! It's the best here. No clue why the rice was purple, but twas' on point. Homemade coconut and mango ice cream were fantastic as well. NO NO NO NO NO NO. I love Asian food, but this was nauseating. The food is disgusting. I ordered a fried rice, chicken and vegetable dish with julienne apples and cilantro. Heard several good things about the restaurant while visiting Tulsa and decided to come and check it out for myself. This gem of an establishment lived up to all the hype. The moment we walked in the door we were greeted by a friendly host who took us to our seats. Our orders were promptly taken and the suggestion of Tom Kha soup was fantastic, I love spicy food and mushrooms so this choice was a no brainer for me. The waitress constantly filled my water which was greatly appreciated since I drink more than the average person and when you crank up the spice level I'm like a camel ;) I also had the Beef Pad Thai and it was an extremely appetizing main event which enough leftover to take home for a late night snack. This is hands down our favorite Thai food in Tulsa! We come here weekly and have eaten just about everything on the lunch menu and much of the dinner menu. The Pad Thai is delicious. My husband loves both red curries, which he eats "Thai Hot." We both love the yellow curry fried rice. The lettuce wraps are so good I've ordered them as my entree. The drinks are delicious, particularly the Green Dragon. We've never had a bad meal here. The service is always outstanding. The staff are professional and welcoming. There is never a long wait for your food. The food is fresh, never greasy, and I've been told is seasoned with fresh herbs from an on-site garden. Add in reasonable prices, and there's nothing not to love about this place! We seriously have no complaints. When it first came out I was a little underwhelmed by the kaprao sauce, but boy did it pack flavor. I inhaled every grain of rice. I was surprised to discover the folks who own Lana Thai also own Tropical. Frankly, LT has gone so far downhill we never go there any longer. The quality has sunk as the prices have soared. Next corn cakes, pretty tasty on their own nothing to write home about until you put the sauce it comes with on, it's sweet and savory and packs major flavor. Next the Prikking tofu with red curry,sweet, salty and spicy. A mouth watering blend of all. Really delicious! Last, the sticky rice with bananas and vanilla ice cream.
