Quality/Quantity - What a great find, and this review shows…read morethe positive power of Yelp. We discovered this local restaurant through Yelp, and so did the other 2 tables next to us. We found out at the end of our meal that one of the other tables was also from our hotel, a mile walk away. Overall, I think a simple menu done well. We got everything they recommended including the recommended beer from the table next to us. Plain Papadum & Chutney Tray - A must try! Suggestion, these two items should be together on your menu to avoid any confusion on pricing. The sauces also went well with our entree and naan. Tandoori Mix Grill - Good, perfect amount for both of us. As mentioned previously, we are light eaters, especially when traveling. This entree also came with a very light simple salad. Garlic Naan - I can eat this all day! This could even be my meal. After Dinner Chocolates - A nice unexpected touch. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Bathrooms need some TLC, but are functional. Indoor/outdoor dining; everyone ate indoors today. Open 7 days a week. Service - Good, had all 3 wait staff help us. This kind of confused us. They were good at upselling, but all 3 team members tried to upsell us. Not in a bad way, but it kept me laughing. I am a light eater, especially when traveling. They all made light small talk which was nice. It was obvious that everyone eating here was NOT local. They also have online promotions, see their website. Price - 28 pounds + tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success, I am so glad that you can benefit from Yelp. See you on our next visit as we were so happy with our hotel we plan to stay there again.

There are quite a few Curry houses in this area but Roshni's is a cut above all of them for sure…read moreand easily rates a solid 4* I have been here more than a few times and they are consistent in everything they do. Their service is spot on and they are always checking back with you on all aspects of your scran, bless 'em. As is the Brit way, a curry is the final port of call after a few scoops so post riverside beverages at the Ship we yomped over the bridge to Roshni's and ordered up; the prerequisite Poppadoms and relishes Gosht Hydrabadi Biryani Samundari Rhaja Jhinga accompanied by sides of Saag Paneer, Onion Bhajjis, a round of Tandoori Roti and a couple of bottles of Kingfisher The Biryani & Jhinga were exquisitely spiced, the vegetable sauce was light and fruity and the Bhajjis cooked to perfection, not the usual soggy mess you find elsewhere. The only slight disappointment was the Roti which was not as soft and doughy as it should be. If you are an aficionado of things spicy then try their phenomenal Phaal. If it is too hot for you then you are just 20 yards from the river ..... Cost per head on this visit was £25. VFM for such a posh spot even if we are talking Staines! They are currently offering a 'buy 1 Main get one free' offer. Why are you still reading? Go snaffle it up !!

Parking - Hey this is the UK. You know what that means. Food - Excellent indeed. Chicken Tikka Masala was good (have to have a real non indian dish). Rogan Josh was great as well as the fish, samosas and beef. Everything that we had was very, very good indeed. Service - not bad, at all, but we were there late and I think they wanted to go home.... They "advised" us of this in the nicest way. Ambiance - Nice, clean, modern. roomy and great decor. This place is a classy place and good for large parties as well! I would come here again in a heartbeat

Very good, and obviously incredibly popular (stayed in this hotel more times than I care to…read moreremember and this is the first time I've been able to secure a table here...perhaps the proximity of Christmas worked this time?) Anyway, excellent Indian cooking....presented to a high standard. Dishes from all over the Indian continent, from the North to Kerala - so I guess, if you want to explore the tastes of a continent it's a great venue. The tandoor paneer (for me) was the highlight of the meal, juicy, tasty and absolutely perfect. Felt like a very 'Dubai' Dining experience with suitably large furniture, set piece decor, and plenty of space...prices were accordingly high...but ultimately well worth it.

Well-executed, higher-end Indian cuisine at the Hilton Airport Terminal 5 of LHR (thanks to Joshua…read moreJ. for tipping me off to the place!). The menu is extensive - and can be somewhat overwhelming to peruse and choose. However, the restaurant wisely offers a couple of different tasting menus of chef's selections, and my colleagues and I opted for this choice (hey, it was a long day of driving to get to LHR ... in a pelting rain to boot, what the Brits would call "bracing" weather). We started off with an amuse-bouche of an Indian tomato soup, followed by a variety of different pappadums and chutneys. To accommodate all tastes, we agreed on "medium hot" for the dishes - which at first, I thought was rather mild, but this was deceptive for the heat built up satisfactorily with each bite. For appetizers, we each received a flight of 7 different appetizers, comprising of fish, vegetables, chicken, beef, and shrimp (the waitress explained each one, but I'll admit to being at a loss to recall what they were). Some were terrific; some were merely okay. This was followed by about 5 different curries, no doubt representing different regions and styles -- comprised of lamb, chicken, prawns, and vegetable sides, accompanied by two types of basmati rice and a couple of kinds of naan. The best to me was the lamb, which had a great flavor and tenderness, but each of the curries had a nice distinct flavor profile. Finally, after stuffing ourselves insensibly, we were each rewarded with a flight of 3 desserts: a vanilla ice cream, a mini-creme brulee flavored with cardamom, and a green Indian dessert of which I can't remember the name, but it was outstanding! Coffee afterwards and I also have to say that it was a great brew (I'm guessing Malabar). The restaurant itself is quiet with a restrained decor to showcase the food, excepting the eye-catching wooden sculpture residing in the middle (literally, an elephant in the room - and no-one really talked about it ... ). There's also a Chef's table looking right into the kitchen and prep area; however, general dining room seating also has a good view of the chefs in action. Wait-service was excellent, cordial, and considerate, and very knowledgeable and helpful regarding the menu offerings. Well worth a visit if residing at any of the nearby airport hotels.

It's very spacious inside. Although their black bean dish Black House Daal is popular, I don't think it's something I'd reorder because I don't like beans that much in general. As a chicken tikka masala fan, I enjoyed their butter chicken the most. It's the closest thing they have to chicken tikka masala--which they don't have, they only have chicken tikka which is dry and quite spicy, has no creamy sauce. I also liked the okra fried, which is a type of fry I'm not used to seeing! It's got flavor, and I also loved the chutney and sauces on the table! I enjoyed a Dishoom Margarita which was strong in alcohol content and flavor, and a nice addition to the meal. They have an interesting drink menu, where you will find lots of nonalcoholic and rather healthy options! They have a small shelf in the middle of the room where they sell some of their chai and cookbooks amongst other things.

I just do not understand the hype surrounding this restaurant. It's hard to get a reservation and…read morethere's a long queue to get a table without one. I just don't get it. In my opinion, there are 2 main things to know about Dishoom: it's an Indian restaurant that is a chain, with 11 locations worldwide. The food is really good for a chain, bit it doesn't begin to come close to a restaurant that takes care of of its individual customers. Walking in, there's lots of energy. People are having a good time, there's no question. We were seated upstairs where there must have been around 40 tables. All of the staff are walking around in a hurry, cause everything here is in a hurry. The intention is to get you our in less than an hour. They want you in, through, and out. I saw this with multiple tables. Our server Yanko came to our table quite promptly and helped us make selections, both for food and drinks. For the first time in my experience eating in a restaurant, the appetizers arrived minutes before our cocktails. They came so fast that we didn't even think it was our order. And then moments after the drinks arrived, all of the main dishes and sides were placed on the table. With no way to keep anything warm. All of this with 10 minutes of placing the order. I appreciate prompt service, but this takes it to an absurd extreme. Our appetizers included the house Chaat and prawn koliwada. I enjoyed the prawns more but the flavors were facile, not close to what I expect and have enjoyed in excellent Indian restaurants. The main dishes were the Goan monkfish curry and Sali Goan. These were also just OK, absolutely nothing special. The cheese naan was soggy, though the flavor was good. This was an unacceptable texture for a naan. Dessert was Basmati Kheer, flavorful Basmati rice with fruit compote on top. In between and unneeded, was a thin layer of creme brulee. I did enjoy my tea: ginger, lemon and honey and my wife liked her mint tea. I do not know the restaurant scene in Edinburgh, we've been here for 4 days. But this is just not a place I'deven consider returning to. It's really a factory that feeds folks, not a restaurant that cares for its customers. The business model had been optimized to maximize income with lots of throughput. What's been almost completely lost in my opinion, is the heart and soul of the dining experience.
