So the food here was really good. But, the prices I wasn't a fan of. 30 pounds for a few pieces chicken with sauce that was small was unfortunate. Plus 4 for rice. Just wasn't happy about that, but had to stay since I was with a group. The food however was very good and flavorful. You could smell things from other tables and that was nice to add to the aroma. In town for the Bills game and one of the things I definitely wanted to do was to get some quality Indian Food. My brother found this spot within walking distance of our lodging. We were basically the first to arrive here. Beautiful interior, there is also a downstairs bar and tables that are gorgeous. We went with a couple apps. A couple mains and some rice and garlic naan. The food here can only be described as flavorful, with some heat, and just mind blowingly delicious. I had the Pearl of Bombay for an opening cocktail and it was perfect after flying on a redeye and staying up all night. Second cocktail was really delicious had a garnish of cucumber on top. Samosa, trio of dosa, crab vada, chicken makhani, dal, all destroyed. We ended up ordering more naan, more than what would be reasonable because we cleaned the portions and sauces up. Nothing was left. For dessert we ate the tiramisu. Also a winner with our table. It was not cheap. But I believe the experience and the quality of the food is worth a stop. Amazing food. We arrived 15 mins late for an 8:00 PM, Friday resy. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We sat downstairs in what looked like an art deco themed speakeasy. We are visiting London for the first time in years. My food goals were to eat Indian food. We found this place on yelp. The food was delicious and some dishes could qualify as "the best thing I ever ate." Why the four stars instead of five? The portions on the large plates were very small. We were told they were made for sharing, they would be barely enough for one person. The chicken dish we had which cost 22 pounds ( more in dollars) came with six cubes of chicken and no rice. Rice cost extra. With that being said, we ordered lamb samosas, squid, and an Indian spiced scrambled egg over naan which was truly one of the best things I ever ate. The "big dishes" we ordered were chicken and a crab dish. The desserts were original and fabulous. We had date nut, cinnamon pudding and a brownie with ice cream. WOW. This restaurant blew us away. We were coming through London en route to Heathrow after a week in the Highlands and I was craving fancy Indian food. Bombay Bustle lived up to these hopes. Lamb Tandoori - meaty and super tender. Good flavor Paneer masala - a little sweet for my liking but still good. crab curry - amazing. Spicy chunks of fresh crab swimming in a spicy curry. The flavor of this was outstanding. I licked the bowl. Minced lamb- solid. The service downstairs was a bit slower than we liked and the food was good but not sure if its worth the wait. The wait time in between each course seemed unusually long. Thanks to Yelp I located this gem and it was an amazing choice ! London is known for having amazing Indian food -and Bombay Bustle absolutely fits in that category . Located on a quiet street in Mayfair , we took a black cab for a late Sunday dinner reservation after enjoying Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. We were greeted warmly , our coats were checked, and the lovely hostess was kind enough to plug our iPhones into the charger at her station -since we were both low . The atmosphere is great. It's not quiet, We ordered a lot of different dishes . My faves were the paneer , samosas , chicken tikka Makhani , prawns , Junglee Maas . We also a Spanish Red wine and their OLD GOLD FASHIONED which was really cool with real gold and served table side ! I will definitely return next time I'm in London! read more

Came here with a group of friends a while back. We made a reservation in advance as this spot gets pretty busy normally. The inside of the restaurant is elegant and relatively formal. We ordered a few dishes to share for the table, including the Fish Tikka and the Tawa Crab Curry, the Vegetable Samosas, and Naan. The fish was extra spicy and delicious and the curry was super flavorful. Portions are on the smaller side given the price point, just something to keep in mind. Sadly, however, the blaring "ultra" type "techno" music (particularly the unending bass beat drowning out any suggestion of actual music) makes what could be a pleasant dining experience into nothing less than torture. Stopped by this weekend to check out the new Indian restaurant in town owned by the same folks as Jamavar. We tried several different items including the lamb nalli biryani, bambaiya ragda, recheado fish tikka and a papad basket. I'd skip the papad basket next time but the rest were delicious. The husband (who is Indian) proclaimed the dum nalli to be the best biryani he's ever had. The Goan fish tikka was perfectly spiced and cooked. The ragda was a refreshing vegetarian appetiser. Loved the vegetable Biryani!!! Kochi Pepper Beef was their spiciest item but it wasn't terribly spicy to me. I had a great flavor and I recommend. TLDR version - The restaurant was half empty on a Saturday because even though they've got some things right it's not good enough just yet. Food - 3.5* (good, nothing to complain about but nothing that made me say aha! ) Ambiance - 3* (neat and much like a quick cafe in bombay, some nostalgia but felt too warm and too crowded - I had to tip-toe so I could get to my table) Service - 1* (the less said the better)... It's a new Indian restaurant in Mayfair, in a back alley close to Oxford street where you have many good choices for Indian food (and Bombay style cafe's if you're particular) and Bombay Bustle is a new addition. I had gone with high hopes and things started well - but alas, my visit had to be cut short because it was just not worth wasting my time here. The two dishes I tried - + Bombay Ragda - aalo patty was a little dense and I was happy for the glass of water next to me to gulp it down with; the mashed white peas Ragda on the other hand was well cooked, nicely mashed and covered with a good balance of garnish; Overall a 3*; + The paneer tikka/mushroom was better and it's side of mango pickle with heeng gave a taste of home that I rarely find find in restaurants. The mushrooms themselves were stuffed with some paneer that brought out good flavor; The best part was the paneer - soft and well cooked, with a layer of green chutney in the middle; overall 4.5* The service is where things fell apart; I had one course and had asked for the menu so I could order the main course. The server hesitantly (maybe I imagined this) gave me the menu but warned me that I would have to move to the bar area in 15-minutes. On inquiring why he politely told me it was policy, and a little more digging revealed they "have a policy of 2-hours per table since all of the tables were pre-booked". That made sense - except, It had been just a little over an hour since I was seated... On pointing it to the server he just told me it was policy and offered to call the manager over. (First chance to correct error wasted) It was a promising move - but alas - it only got worse. the gentleman who was managing the floor that evening walked over fully ready to tell how it was policy blah blah.. he was polite throughout, gave me the time to speak but i don't think he actually heard what I was sharing - instead he went to great details to explain to me why they had to keep the policy, and it was only 1.5hrs and etc.. etc.. (Second chance to correct error wasted) The restaurant was half empty on a Saturday evening at peak dinner time as I walked out because they didn't have a table where I could sit and eat - and that is why I rated the service 1*. It's a restaurant that has promising food options but I can get those delivered from many other places, I was there for the experience and that wasn't up to scratch. "Excellent selection of Veg and Non-Veg in a great family friendly environment" Date of Visit: 28.12.17 and 30.12.17 Time: 19:49 and 14:25 Review: As I visited twice in close succession I thought it would be best to do a combined review for both days. This is the sister resturant of Jamavar in Mount street. I have yet to visit Jamavar but it is on my radar. Good balance for families with children, business meals or going with a family or date. There is a good variety of food for both vegetarians and non-veg diets along with a equal mix of smaller portions and main dishes, it is really good to order a variety and then to share. Even some of the starter dishes are filling. The duck masala dosa was great with three portions and a spicy taste which was similar to mince. Yes i finished all three.... The Bhajia very crisp and tasty and i could not fault them. I have never had Tareko Aloo before but again with all the dishes with a distinct different but pleasing taste you know you can come here many times and enjoy a different dish each time. The chicken tikka biriyani comes with raita and a good size portion with plenty of chicken pieces which are moist and not dry. The other dish I would like to talk about is the Lamb Stew which comes in a coconut stew, which is not described on the menu and i am really no fan of coconut but I was surprised as it was not overpowering and the lamb pieces just perfection which melted in the mouth and another excellent dish. I forgot to mention the quality of the desserts also excellent with the Saffron Kulfi a real subtle but excellent dish. Only one thing is to ask for a fork and knife to eat the Kulfi or Samosa Chat as I could not manage with the provided spoon without the fear of it landing on my lap or next doors plate. Dress Code: I do not believe there is any dress code policy here. Booking Process: At first as it was during the Christmas period and the restaurant was shut so the phone was not connecting and no answers to emails but this was soon resolved as the media company did get in touch and was very helpful. So once the email and phones were running i booked using both methods, each as easy as you would expect and very prompt responses provided. Location: 29 Maddox Street, London, W1S 2PA Parking: London Yellow lines but within easy reach of many stations especially Bond Street, Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus. Decor & Lighting: Casual dinning with a bit more classic style made to look like a art deco rail carriage. Good lighting with natural light also managing to come through. There is another level but I have only dined on the ground floor. Ambience & Acoustics: Attendance both times the ground floor was 30-50% full. But acoustics were good and you can easily have a conversation without the need for any raised voices. Families like to attend here with children but usually well behaved so not to bad. DB Level: 76.7db peak which is the same as loud singing when the restaurant was half full but i found it easy to listen and have a conversation. Drinks: Kalina (Mocktail), Cumin & Coriander & Chilli Lassi, Khandala (Mocktail) Food: Pappadam Basket, Mirchi Pyaz Bhajia, Chicken Tikka Tawa Pulao, Dabba Dal, Steam Rice, Sprout Salad, Trio Duck Masala Dosa, Podi Idli Sambhar, Dum Tarkari Biryani, Tareko Aloo, Iddiyappuam Lamb Stew. Desert: Chocolate Samosa Chaat, Saffron Kulfi Bill / Cost: £72 (2 people) & £75 (3 people) Conclusion: A great place for both lunch and dinner with a good variety for both veg and non-veg and good selection of light snacks and mains. I like a restaurant which serves both items you have heard of and puts a twist on others but at the same time caters for vegetarians and where each dish plays with your pallet. This is when you know there is a real passionate chef behind this. I would highly recommend a visit. Unfortunately we didn't get to eat here. We were visiting London from SF and called these guys to make a reservation. Asked for 8:30pm table and the woman on phone said no they have a 10pm table for a party of 4 and we booked the table. We wait for few hours and go to restaurant. We show and they tell us that we can't seat because they forgot to tell us we have 2 kids and they don't allow kids after 8:30pm. The woman is insistent she told us. Why would we show up with kids if we knew. They were rude and I was surprised with just the unempethtic or unapologetic behavior. read more
