Outstanding service! Highly recommend for Mercedes owners. Expertise, professionalism, efficiency, and reasonably priced! I had a known issue and it was resolved very quickly. We did a quick look around and told him of the issues, also provided me with explanation of the necessary repairs. When they have finished the repairs, they also had time to fix some other minor issues such as loose bolts and cleaning out the oil grease in the engine bay. Ultimate Autoworks is a well managed small business. They are honest and reasonably priced. I usually do all the work on my Mercedes but don't have the time, so I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived and the manager inspected the vehicle with me to identify the issues. I had an oil leak and a coolant leak I could not identify. They took the time to find the leaks and walk me through the parts and effort it would take to fix the problems. They only ordered the parts I needed and cleaned the alternator and other parts that had been saturated so they would work properly. Most mechanics I have been to would have just replaced the alternator and other parts so they would not have to deal with the extra effort. I will be taking my vehicle back again for maintenance. Let me just say that this review is looooong over due. I've taken several cars here as an auto broker and dealer... from Maserati to Mercedes. Hands down, the Ultimate Auto-work team is the most honest and reliable mechanics for foreign cars that we would probably find in the entire county. Their work is thorough and with in budget relative to the corporate dealerships. I took in my 330i Bmw, had tons of issues such as Evap, Center support/ drive shaft, Selvin was able to help me save money and fix the cars issues at a reasonable price. Yes, he's extremely busy, however, he's one of the best in the industry! I took in my other two cars and Selvin was able to properly diagnose and replace my fuel injector within 48 hours. Had a Brake replacement, (Rotors, Pads and Senors), and thermostat done on my Mercedes and the work was done quickly and cleanly. No Problems and Selvin showed me my parts to confirm it was replaced and bad. No Hand prints or any evidence a Mechanic was in my car. LOVE IT! Brakes work like new and thermostat works with no issues. All is good. With this being my first Mercedes, I was very cautious on who my Mechanic would be. Dealer is mostly over priced and I was looking for someone who was personal and would listen to what I had to say, (Whether right or wrong). I Found it here with this place, Ultimate-Autoworks. I spoke with Selvin and he was great on the phone to deal with. I told him what I needed to have done and he said he would call me back with an estimate. He not only called me back but called me back when he said he would, in an hour. I Went to the shop, and Selvin was extremely polite and receptive. He gave me an Estimate on when it would be done and if I needed a ride home. When I went to pick it up, the mechanic took it for a ride to confirm the brakes were ok and Selvin did as well. I cannot recommend ultimate Auto Works enough. When I bought my first Mercedes 10 years ago I was told that it needed a new head gasket at three different auto shops. I was quoted anywhere between 1500 and $2,000 for the work at three different places. When I brought it to Selvin at Ultimate Auto Works he looked at my car and told me that it was simply the bolts rattling loose over time! He simply retortqued down the head gasket and my car ran fine for 10 years until the transmission finally gave out. Cost? $150 for labor! :] I am now on my second Mercedes and I will never take it anywhere else for service. If you want someone who is fair and honest, and who knows foreign cars inside and out, take your car to ultimate Auto Works. I recommend them to everyone I know. read more

Selvin is an incredibly honest and polite man. Prior to going into The Ultimate Autoworks, I was quoted quite a high amount by another shop to replace my vacuum pump. I called in to Ultimate Autoworks to compare the cost and Selvin quoted me $200 less than the other shop --I was ecstatic and asked him to order the part and I would come in as soon as they needed me to. Selvin suggested that he take a look at my car before ordering any pricey parts, just to assess exactly what needed to be done. I went in the next day and he took no more than 15 minutes to tell me that my vacuum pump looked fine, and that my check engine light was on due to a loose gas cap. I am so pleased with their honesty, they have gained a new customer and it's safe to say that I will be coming here for any mechanical car needs. read more

These guys are awesome. When I bought my car my previous owner had been taking it here and told me they were a great shop. I figured might as well keep taking it to the guys who already know the car, and I haven't regretted the decision at all. They're the most honest, helpful and reasonable car shop I've ever dealt with. My car has ran flawless under their care, even with its somewhat high mileage. I take really good care of my car, so if it does something that makes me paranoid and I call them, they'll usually let me drop in real quick that same day/night. This shows how awesome they are because its always been nothing, they've seen any potential problems coming a mile away. I really couldn't ask for more from these guys. read more

THE TRUTH!!! HONESTY!!! KNOWLEDGE!!! AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!!! My Mercedes' check engine light came on and the tranny started leaking after a recent service was completed at a different local Mercedes specialist who I've used for the past 5 years. I brought the car to Ultimate Autoworks to get a second opinion. Selvin found the leak was due to my previous mechanic installing a damaged part! He showed me the leak and the damaged part. Selvin also checked the codes for the check engine light and reset it and he provided me a written estimate for the additional items I requested, and all at no cost. NO COST!! yes! for real! no cost! I would highly recommend Ultimate Autoworks to anyone in San Diego who has a need for a great mechanic who services BMWs & Mercedes. They go above and beyond anyone we have ever used for car repairs. My husband & I moved to San Diego in 1995 from the Bay Area. We had owned several BMWs at that point & had a great mechanic in No CA. Mechanics, like most businesses, prove to be great over time. Trust is built up (or down) with every experience & interaction. We had no idea whom to trust with our repairs until referred by a long-term local San Diego resident. From the first time we met with Tony (the owner) & Selvin (the main mechanic) we immediately felt an honesty that was very refreshing, especially in the auto repair industry. The entire staff has always been very friendly & professional in every manner. Over the years they proved themselves over & over again, not just with fair pricing but with letting us know that certain repairs didn't need to be done at that time, or in some cases, not at all-thus saving money. Numerous times when we went to another "quick oil change" business or even a tire center to replace tires, they would inevitably indicate other problems needed to be taken care of. We would call our "ultimate Auto Works" guys & ask if we could come in with the so called 'diagnosis' of another place. Typically, the repairs indicated were not only unnecessary but not imminent as well. There were several occasions that called for immediate attention & UA accomodated us like we were family, which at this time we feel like we are! These guys are fair priced & most importantly, honest. There is no one else we would trust our cars to in San Diego. When I bought my car I was told by two different mechanics that it needed a new head gasket - both were quoting me 1500-2000 for the job. I called 5 or 6 other places and was told the same price range for all of them. When I spoke to Selvyn from U.A.W. about the oil leak, he told me to bring the car in so he could look at it. Thanks to his years of experience, he knew that the bolts on the head vibrate loose over time. He re-torqued these bolts and this completely fixed the leak. Total cost: $80 in labor. I have taken my car only to U.A.W. for the last three years because of this first impression and I have never failed to get good, honest advice. Prices are always reasonable and they will let you know if they think the work is vital or not. I highly recommend anyone with a German car to check them out - they are awesome! read more

These guys are hands down, fantastic. I have a 10-yr old C-class and there's always something random that needs attention on it. My catalytic converter went bad and my prior mechanic in the Convoy area said they'd charge about $2K for new ones PLUS a minimum of $45 or more to run diagnostics to make sure that was the problem. At the same time, they tried to get me to replace a part that they had already replaced a year earlier (it probably was never broken and when I told them they already replaced it, they said "oops, wrong person"). Needless to say, I ditched that mechanic and needed to find a new one. I found Ultimate Autoworks on Yelp (thank you, Yelpers) and couldn't be happier with my choice to go there. Without my asking, they offered me refurbished genuine Mercedes parts (which have a warranty) at HALF the price of the what 2 other mechanics were charging. (One told me the parts weren't available and the other told me they weren't any cheaper.). When I dropped off my car, a man was walking in with the converters. Since I was a little suspicious about what parts I was getting for the amazing price they quoted, I followed the guy into the garage and asked to look at the parts. That guy turned out to be an employee of Mercedes who was delivering the parts order. He picked up the parts, showed me the serial numbers and mercedes logo and explained that there was a warranty but that the parts would last much longer than the warranty period anyway. Exactly as I was told! UA fixed the problem (this was months ago) and the car has been driving like new again. Fabulous. read more

After hearing great things, took my car in in August. Got it back 6 weeks later, literally everything I asked them to fix was not just worse but much worse than when I had taken it in. To give them a chance to make it right, called the owner, Tony, said he would make it right personally. Picked it up today, 2 1/2 months after the initial service. Went to pay the bill, $500 for minor repairs and then the original mechanic tried to charge me for the original work he screwed up on top of the new bill. Can't imagine worse service, attitude, ridiculous. Do not waste your money or your time. read more
