THIS IS THE PERFECT VENUE FOR A VAMPIRE ROCKSTAR. Meaning that it's the perfect venue for Kamijo! If you don't know who he is, definitely look up his solo work, his work in Lareine and Versailles, you will NOT be disappointed. Paid parking all around, but if you're brave and willing to circle around and walk a bit, free street parking is possible. Due to an accident on the freeway, we barely made it here 10-15 minutes before the show, and most people were already let in, but security was pretty efficient and checking in was very quick too. There's drinks, concessions (it's a theater, you know), and the merchandise was strangely being sold in the middle area when you enter and exit, but staff was situated to direct people and assist you at every line and entrance into the theater. We got orchestra seating right before the balcony ends and with the sloping of the seats, we were able to see decently well, even if our seats weren't the best of the best. I guess, based on the crowd and the audience, even though we had assigned seating, everyone ended up standing up for the entire performance. A bit strange, but less stressful in a sense that you don't necessarily have to camp there super early as your seat is already assigned (you would have to though if you wanted any of the sold out merch...). We were lucky enough that there weren't any super tall people in front of us. Lighting was great, sound quality was amazing and at no point did any instrumentals or the vocals get drowned out. But the most impressive part was the architecture. Absolutely gorgeous. Probably the most favorite of all of the venues I've been to thus far. I can see why Kamijo chose this theater. It's perfect for an immortal vampire like himself. I wish we got there a bit earlier (not just only for merch), but for the opportunity to take photos which I saw a lot of people do. The lovely hanging chandeliers, the painted ceilings, aged gold archways, the Spanish Gothic style modeled after Spain's Segovia Cathedral. It didn't feel like we were in LA anymore after stepping in. So much history in this building from the 1920's . When you're in there, look up, look around, it's just so intricately and beautifully designed. Apparently the restrooms had a powder room too, so nice! I would love to go to another event here in the future. read more

this theatre is absolutely lovely. I love that the city has taken all these old picture houses & converted them to live entertainment venues while keeping as much of the ornate interiors intact. My only real complaint is just that, like similar theaters in LA, there is little to no leg room between the rows so if you are tall (I'm 6 ft), you might want to try & snag an aisle seat so you have more room to stretch out. If not, you are going to be very uncomfortable. Up in the balcony, while the seats are on different levels, you can easily have your view blocked by a taller person in front of you so also keep that in mind. But beyond that, this is another one of those unassuming venues that everyone should visit at least once. It's beautiful and I love being able to walk around before a show just thinking about all the history that has happened throughout the walls. read more

An older no frills theater that doesn't have much around it. Lots of parking lots from $10 to $30. Not much street parking. It was easy to come in and out of the street. No long lines or congestion. Definitely recommend coming around an hour early if you want to get a drink, merch, and go to the bathroom before an 8pm show. We showed up at 7:30pm and barely made it through the doors at 8pm due to only 3 security lines. The line wrapped around the building down the street. I really appreciated the staff for managing the line and preventing line cutters. It was very exciting to see Lucy Darling and her right hand man, Mark. They were very funny and it was amazing to see them up close. The camera crew did great showing everything on the screen with subtitles and an ASL interpreter, but I still recommend getting seats as close as possible. I hope they come back! read more

Incredible space, beautiful venue. The seats aren't bad but by the 2nd hour the cushioned chairs aren't as comfy. No food, strong drinks, generous bartenders. The ambience, service, and cleanliness was exceptional. Parking at Joe's is the best but during events expect Joe's Parking and most public parking at $25. Highly recommend coming to United Theater for any type of show or event. read more

Came to the theater for a Jessie J concert and I really loved the architecture of the place as the ceilings and walls were so detailed. Service was good as the security helped with showing me to my seat since lighting was very very dark. Seats were also quite small. I loved that the food and drink options were offered on each floor giving easy access to anyone who needs it. read more

I love all historic buildings and this theater is one of downtown Los Angeles' beautiful historic theaters. The lobby decor is magnificent and the interior theater area is incredible, too. Also, unlike many of the other historic theaters in L.A., this one is open fairly regularly for concerts and shows. Most or all of the others only open for special occasions. I am only giving this theater four stars because the seating is absolutely brutal. The seats are extremely uncomfortable and there is almost no room between you and the seat in front of you. I highly doubt the seating is historic so, hey owner, fix this issue, please. Bad seats or not, if you get the chance to go to any of L.A.'s historic theaters, including this one, do not hesitate to do so. They are amazing works of art. read more

I hope they keep this theater open forever. It's stunning. They restored it beautifully. The ornate details and grand architecture are really something to behold. The sound was fine and views seem good enough from just about every section, although I didn't go up on the balcony. The seats are small, as is the norm for theaters of this era. They were much more comfortable than other venues I have been to in the area. My only complaint was I am not sure the doors close (or there actually are any doors) from the (sumptuous) lobby, so sadly we could hear the staff from our seats. They were talking loudly by the doors to the orchestra area, super distracting. It was a live podcast, so probably not an issue if it's a loud concert. The beauty of this theater and it's history is the thing, and it makes for a memorable experience. read more

I'm surprised I have never been here! It's a beautiful theater! I absolutely loved the architecture and design! You can enjoy the show from any seat so if you want to save a little money on the tickets the balcony is just as good! There is lots of parking area near by. The one next to it was $25 but there are more that may be cheaper like a block or few away. They served drinks, soda, water, popcorn and candy. I would def plan to eat before or eat after because it's just snacks. read more

Gorgeous theater! We came for the Magic Castle Live on Stage show and it was very cool! It's one thing to see magicians on TV, and quite another to see them perform in person. It'll leave you thinking "How did they do that??!" Coming to this show actually gets you an invitation to visit THEEE Magic Castle...can't wait! read more

Location 2: On Broadway in DTLA. Historic Theater District that is currently a mix of upscale bars, restaurants and hotels along with homeless tents. Some street parking and plenty of paid parking lots, but many may not be the safest. Don't leave anything in the car and pray for the best! The theater does not have their own self-parking or valet. Venue 2.5: Historic, nostalgic venue from early 20th century. Well-kept. Smaller-sized venue of about 1600 seats on three levels, floor, mezzanine and balcony. Looks like every seat has a good view. I was seated in the balcony and must say that the seats are very uncomfortable. No legroom (your knees rub against the seat in front of you and I am not a tall person). I've had better legroom on Economy flights :) Imagine that you are going to be in this seat for 2-3 hours and you cannot simply stand up and stretch without blocking the view of the people sitting behind you... It gets uncomfortable fast :( Service 2: The only services I was exposed to were the security staff and the ticket check at the entrance. The line to get in was long and slow. And they started the concert on time when there was still a long line of people outside waiting for the security check. Not nice! Staff however were friendly and polite. No issues with the staff whatsoever. Food & Drinks N/A: I did not have any food or drinks there. There are plenty of nice bars and restaurants nearby :) The last word 2.5: Nice historic venue to enjoy some good entertainment at. Will visit again but reluctantly so and only if my favorite acts were only playing there. Wish they could do something about their security checks and their seats. read more

We came here for an event. There are parking lots nearby but the area is super sketchy. There are homeless and graffiti everywhere. The actual place is nice inside as it has that historic feel to it with a gothic style. We were not impressed with the food/drinks selection but not sure if it varies by event. There was a long line for the bar and once the event started the waiters went through taking more orders which was nice for you not to miss a beat. Overall the actual place was a good experience just in a terrible area. read more

Last week, I planned and designed a dinner party in the iconic United Theater on Broadway! Our guests were blown away by this architectural gem of a location. We treated them to a private harp + violin performance on the theater's stage! We toured the property and learned all about its unique history! After that, the guests took their seats for a family-style feast in The Grand Lobby! You might recognize this incredible tool from the opening party scene in the movie Babylon! It was such a pleasure to work closely with the theater's events team. This theater is absolutely gorgeous! Due to the location we decided to use rideshare instead of driving and it wasn't too hard to get to and from the venue. Drinks and snacks are available and what I love about this venue is the multiple stations so that there is not a long wait and you can back to your show immediately. The second floor bathrooms only have one stall! This caused a long line during intermission but if you walk down the stairs, the first floor bathrooms are much larger. I would attend an event here again. Staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Hello , I've never written to a business before but I attended the Crazy Ex-girlfriend 7pm showing 5/9/26 show and I wanted to say the a huge thank you to the woman who was in coat check, working at the frontdoor entrance. My daughter and I drove 3 hours, were 40 + minute's late, and when we finally arrived, I couldn't find my tickets. Usually missing a show would not have been devastating, but I don't get to see her that often and I wanted to do something with her that wasn't a fail. When it looked like it wasn't going to happen, the woman at coat check called us over and helped us find our seats. She didn't have to do that, but this was one of the most kindest gestures someone has ever done. I don't know her name, but I wanted to say I sincerely thank you for what you did. *** Cashless operation *** The United Theater on Broadway was first opened in 1927 and the theater is decorated in the Spanish Gothic Revival style. The theater was restored and reopened in 2014 as the Theatre at the Ace Hotel, but the hotel closed in January 2024 and reopened again in February 2024 as STILE Downtown Los Angeles by Kasa. Few blocks surrounding the theater (Broadway/W Olympic Blvd & Broadway/W 9th St) are relatively safe comparing with select parts of Downtown LA. [Parking]: There was a parking lot right next to the theater, but it was $25 flat rate, but luckily I was able to spot Joe's Auto Parks (1025 S Hill St) located just two blocks away for $5 flat rate. [Amenities]: Guests must be 5 years and older. Bag cannot be larger than 5 in. tall x 9 in. long x 2 in. wide. There's no coat check on-site. Earplugs are available upon request in the Box Office. No re-entry allowed. Restroom is located in the basement level only. Everyone had to leave via the rear exit. [Seating]: My seat in row J at the Upper Balcony Center had no cup holder and I accidentally knocked over a drink from the person who sat next to me. View from Upper Balcony Center section seat was alright, but can't say my seat was super comfortable. However the theater certainly had a great vibe. [Show]: Came here for a magic show and Jorge Blass was the best & the most memorable magicians for the show with out-of-this-world mind-blowing tricks. It was a solid venue and the parking situation was actually not as bad as other places like Hollywood Pantages Theatre. read more

We came for the Free Jokes! We are at the United Artists Theater!!! The flagship theater created for the United Artists Studio ... which was founded by the likes of DW Griffith; Douglas Fairbanks; Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin... sure to have stepped foot into this very Theater back in the roaring 20's... this was one of many flagship Theaters built for United Artists Studio at the time... We are at the Historic United Artists Theater now the home of THE ACE HOTEL...that's right ! This very windy Cinco De Mayo 2024 ...We left the historic Hollywood Athletic Club about an hour ago...for an Imagen Foundation Awards celebration hosted by Apple TV and now we're here... The ghosts of Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin seem to follow us around everywhere we go!!! Hey! I ain't complainin'... Netflix is a Joke Comedy Festival is handing out free passes all along their comedy fest... so be sure to grab a few tickets when you can or as they last! The festival won't last forever...and these ghosts can get pretty needy... We came to see Patton Oswalt...the man did not disappoint...the headliner delivered his usual fare of smart acerbic commentary... and tried out some new jokes for his new special he seems to be whipping up... His comedy stylings were preceded by a few comedians including Ben Feldman... the Tourette's kid spitting comedy venom was definitely worth an ear shot! The kid made me a little dizzy ... but he was funny... lol All in all a wonderful evening that began at 7pm and ran through nearly two hours ... Wandered around downtown before I went to the Orpheum theater and stopped in for a cocktail at the Ace Theater. I love the lobby with the faux library and the wonderful people at the desk next to the casual dining area downstairs. Great throwback to a grand time. read more

Thanks to 88.5 the So Cal Sound team for the free tickets to see Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs. There was plenty of parking around the area and lots of food options. Once we were inside you're transported back in time, picture the inside of the Pantages theater, it's absolutely amazing. Due to the smaller venue it was a more intimate experience. Great acoustics and a great view of the stage. I'm looking forward to seeing more concerts at the United theatre read more

This has to be one of the most beautiful venues I've ever entered. And I'm so sad I was only able to go after they had announced their closure. The Theatre at the Ace Hotel is a former church, which you can note right away from the religious symbolism as you enter. I was completely blown away by how beautiful this architecture was and how beautifully preserved it all was. We sat at the front of the balcony for our show, and we had a great view and a great time. Staff was helpful in navigating us, and food/merch lines never got too long. If you have a chance to stop by the Theatre at Ace Hotel before they close, by all means do! It was such a special experience to be able to be in a theatre like this. read more

This beautiful theatre is so spectacular inside Had to look in to who built it and what was behind it as far as the murals and mirrored glass up top with wood framing Stunning !!! The three story building is so spacious and has many drink / snack options I love how no matter where you sit you can see the stage . Okay, so I went back for my second experience here. As you can see from my first review, I warned not to sit in the back of the orchestra due to loud noise from the lobby as the concessions closed down for the night. I stupidly thought the balcony would be the way to go. DON'T DO IT! I went to see Death Cult's only US show here before their reunion tour through Europe, and the balcony turns out to be a torture chamber. As you can see from my photos, the space between the front of your seat and the seat in front of you is not even the space from the bottom of my palm to the top of my middle finger. I am only 5'9" and my legs are not bulky but they did not fit. My knees did not fit. I had to try to sit at a slight angle. I don't know how tiny people were in the early 1900's or whenever this place was built, but it is not meant for modern man. I was in excruciating pain all night. It didn't help that the jerk behind me kept wolf whistling with his fingers in his mouth at train horn level every 90 seconds into my eardrums. If you must go to the Theatre at the Ace Hotel get orchestra seats away from the back and do not whatever you do sit upstairs in the balcony. Every person who came in immediately commented how horrible and painful the seating was. read more

It's an old historic theater perfect for silent films and other live events, and in this case it was the Magic Castle Live showing. We sat in the left side upper balcony. The view was decent for a live show. The theater must have been truly amazing back. it's day. It is still a worthy facility, but you definitely know you're in an old historic theater. What a fun spot! The theater is great- much larger than I was expecting. The seats seemed to all have a great view of the stage. There's a lower level and then also an upper balcony. It felt like a cool temp inside. They have bars accessible at every level and even some snacks for purchase. read more

Saw the Magic Castle Live show this weekend. First time visiting this theater in Hollywood. It's tough to find parking downtown, so leave early. The theater is small but quaint. Be sure to check the house rules regarding what you can and cannot bring inside the theater. Ladies, only a small clutch purse! The ushers were very helpful in guiding us to our seats. I found the temperature inside to be hot and stuffy. Perhaps because the magic acts use smoke, but the house was full, so the staff should have turned up the A/C to make the theater more comfortable. read more

Cool ambiance with the gothic look on the inside and that's pretty much all good this theater has going on. The stairs are steep and windy and I have tripped and lost balance and have seen others mock me and do the same on multiple occasions. The seats should be fine for dwarfs. But if you are any bigger than that you will suffer. The men's restrooms are tiny and each has capacity of 2 men doing business and 2 men washing up at best. The sound travels very bad. We went to see Anthony Jeselnik and I could barely make out what he was saying at the upper balcony. The line was moving fast. Thanks to the organizers. Been there twice and that feels like too much. read more

Beautiful venue! Being at this venue felt like being transported in time. Came here for a Pink Sweats concert and had an amazing time. That said, I hear some seats aren't as good. We were at Lower Balcony Center, Row E which provided a great view & the seats weren't as cramped as the other seats at the balcony. First, the PARKING: There were different parking spots around the area. I think there are generally flat rate parking for around $20-25. SOUND: Not bad! The acoustics were decent at our seating area. DRINKS/FOOD: There were a few places that had drinks and popcorn/snacks. As with any venue, the lines can be long, but they are fairly quick. Plus, I think it's cashless which makes the process go faster. Overall, would recommend for a show/event, but I likely wouldn't get a seat higher than Lower Balcony Center as the seats looked a bit cramped & uncomfortable to sit in for an hour or more. read more

This past Friday, My GF & I went and saw Mark Normand here at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel. Parking for the event was pretty easy. We didn't want to chance getting close to the venue and there not be spots, so we parked a couple blocks away at a structure and walked there. Getting into the actual venue was easy too. We pulled out our tickets to be scanned, after that we emptied our pockets and went through the metal detectors. Doors opened at 6:30 and we got there right when it opened. Finding our seats were easy as well. Plus we got help from one of the ushers so that made it even easier on me. Much thanks to them for all the help. All 3 comedians were amazing that night! Definitely a great first stand up show for my GF! One she'll always remember. I loved the show & the time we spent inside The Theater! read more

Such a beautiful a nice theater! We ate dinner prior to our show but a small popcorn looked to be about $6. They also served a moderate range of alcoholic drinks and candy. The staff were so nice in guiding us to our seats and the bathrooms! They really made it such a nice experience. We did find that there was no AC so we were sweating! read more

A beautiful historic theater with topnotch service. I appreciated the free water available at various stations throughout the place. We were there for Juatin Willman, who is a master of both magic and comedy. He put on an amazing show. My companion and I had different tickets as I had purchased the VIP option for the meet and greet. I want to give special thanks to the staff for arranging it so that my plus one didn't have to wait outside alone. They made it possible for her to stay inside the theater and wait for me in safety. Thank you, United Theater, for looking out for us. read more

First of all, the theater is now under new management and has been renamed The United Theater on Broadway. My friend and I attended a taping of the podcast, Criminal. The doors opened at 7 and I arrived at 6:30 in the rain . So, of course I had to wait outside. The security is very much like trying to board an international flight! Empty your pockets, no outside water, each individual is wanded and you must open your coat and turn around with your arms extended. Wow! I felt very safe once I was finally permitted to enter. But once you enter, it's eerily quiet with the feeling of days gone by, but the elegance is apparent. There were at least three bars and very minimal snacks. I suspect the fare will increase over time, but the drink selections were much more extensive than most theaters. Also, the bartenders were a complete delight. Funny, helpful and patient. They could easily become Flight Attendants or cruise staff without skipping a beat. Thank you Vanessa and Christa, you gave our evening an absolutely wonderful start. Then when you walk into the actual performance theater, it's stunning! It's a bit dark, so it's hard to get the full breadth of the opulence, but it was magnificent. Each time I looked up at the ceiling or the walls, I noticed another detail. Our seats were orchestra level, right, about seven rows from the front. Great view, comfortable seats. And lastly, I'd like to thank the House Manger, Eric. From the very beginning, we couldn't find our tickets, he could not have been more kind and helpful. He gave us very interesting information about the history of the theater and it's clear he loves his job. All around a lovely way to spend a wet Wednesday school night. 10/10, highly recommend. read more

The only reason I'm giving this beautiful theater a 4 is because if you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of a set/production, everyone in your row has to get up because there is literally no leg room to squeeze through (I get that this is to fit more people, but can still take away from the show for a moment). But again, beautiful theater. Drink/food prices were "fair" for a theater in my opinion and the sound system wasn't bad! Would totally go again. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would. ___________ Concert promoters, pls do not book this place for your talent, unless they agree to keep bathrooms open, improve lighting design, etc. ___________ Their lighting team is not focused. BeWhy asked for lights on the audience for different reasons. It took 2-3 requests before they did anything. - Also the lighting design is limited, not great for a cool performer like BeWhy ___________ $70+ tickets + pkg + gas/time and no access to bathrooms after the show. UNBELIEVABLE Can't believe this venue is part of a hotel. - the LACK of hospitality was off the charts!!! I was here for last Thursday's BeWhy concert. Parking at this venue is $25. AVOID IT. You can find $6 parking on Hill St between 9th & 8th streets. Two thumbs down, way way down for all the restrooms being closed off after the show!!!! They told us to search for a restroom outside (WTF, 11pm in DNTLA???) Common sense is not so common! - 1.5 hrs drive to DNTN LA - 3.5 hrs for the show - 2 hrs drive back home Well God was on my side!!! I experienced a bladder control miracle. LOL U SUCK, THE THEATER AT THE ACE HOTEL IN DNTN LA!!! So Very #inconsiderate and #cruel. The tone is set at the top, so this is seriously lack of long-term thinking from management. We're sitting right on top of one of the most remarkable gems in the city -- a delicately restored, 1,600-seat movie palace from the 1920s with a three-story, 2,300 square foot grand lobby, an ornate open balcony and mezzanine and a vaulted ceiling with thousands of tiny mirrors that glimmer when lit. I have been to the LA Philharmonic Walt Disney Concert Hall several times to see/hear different genres of music from ballet, to symphony, to jazz, and of course classical music, and during the holidays they give a great performance by their choir. Those of you who know me, know I love classical music and do have my favorite composers: Chopin, Vivaldi and Mozart. On Sunday, March 29th at 7:30pm my friend and I went to see Strauss, Bruch, & Moussa's elegant, classy performance that shook up the whole entire venue and the audience. It was just MAGNIFICENT! 10/10 The venue itself is STUNNING! Glamorous and easy to navigate all the aisles. Our seats were very comfortable and you can see the stage from any corner/angle since the theatre is not that big. Also has balcony seating. Tickets were $50 a piece not including tax. It has a beautiful gift shop, garden, different restaurants all around the building, and a small store where you can purchase some beverages and snacks. Overall, a GREAT performance and we both had a lovely time. Parking is $10 with few an entrances and few restrooms for both men & women. Thank you all for another AWESOME performance!! Will definitely return again next time I get a brochure or pamphlet in my mail.

The surrounding is mini park that have many different theme sections to be discover prior or after the show. Excellent and ordinary group of musicians and with great leader conductor...make a great musics in a great warm and cozy setting. Seat are okey, not comfort but good enough to endure the whole show. Love the layout that literally using all spaces for guests to enjoys the music in the given space.

I don't live too far away from here but it's always a trek coming down to downtown LA. And the tickets I received is said to park in the music center garage. Parking was $10 and really efficient. It took a while to get our bearings to find out where we could park and what was available. And at the very end, it was actually pretty efficient to get out of there as well. We're on level P6 and we were directed to go down towards the lower level and everything was very efficient to then come back up to the surface.. It's a beautiful venue. It's not huge, but they're able to make great use of the space. We sat in the balcony and got a great view and we were able to see everything fairly well. There are lots of concession stands throughout and you're even able to pre-order drinks and snacks and beverages for the intermission. Overall, it's a great venue, it's even closer to me than the Pantages, where they have a lot of other musicals as well. We caught a great show here too. This is definitely a hidden gem that I'll be excited to come back to again in the future when there are future events. Everything is so well organized and it was a great experience.

I do think it's pretty steep for a 35 minute escape maze and the behind the scenes was cool but short. The whole experience took us an hour, including bathroom breaks. I recommend going early because it seemed like the actors don't get a lot of breaks so I'm glad I got to see their more passionate acting when they're not tired yet. I think it's good to try once as a beginner but definitely more excited to try other productions like Willow.

I have been to Paris, once, but that still counts. I climbed the Eiffel tower at night with the…read morelights glowing. I have seen the Mona Lisa and was impacted by her smile that seemed to move on its own. And ever since then I have loved Parisian culture because, after that trip, I understood that the city of lights producses so much to love and adore. It is the city that empowered Quasimoto to find his inner beauty. It is the city that had a rat control a human via its hair. It is the city that gifted the world with croissant and funny mustaches. It is the city that gave us french cheese, a queen who let others eat cake, and the guillotine because, I mean, what would a Tale of Two cities be without a guillotine. In short, I can can for gay Paree. Thus, it was only natural to attend a Bastille Day celebration to pay homage to the city of lights and butter. This celebration, I can describe as a capsule celebration. Meaning that the day did not have parades or avenue closures in its name. All the celebration was centered in this courtyard. If one has not attended the plaza, then imagine a micro Hollywood bowl. Meaning that if the Hollywood Bowl was a cupcake, this place would be a tic-tac, not a gum drop. But still, with the festivities of Bastille lighting the spot, it became a firework on display. This might seem obvious but I really enjoyed sitting on the courtyards steps and hearing french music from the stage. And I did not just like the music because it heard good, but also what it produce amongst some of the attendants-- a light-hearted frivolity that could only be expressed in melody and jaunty step. The singers explained that they were about to sing a classic french song. One that paid homage to its famous avenue: Champs-Élysées. As they were hearing words that I could barely recognized, a woman behind me started to sing as well. I turned back, we made eye contact and for a second she serenated me with the words Champs-Élysées. I felt her love for her land in her words. For a micro-second that lasted french minutes, I was back in the land of french cheese and pastries. The note she carried in her song were the tickets I needed to see Paris, even briefly again. I also saw the dancers. Not paid ones. Regular people dancing in front of the stage. I saw a man and a woman dance care free amongst many. He twirled her. She followed. It was melody in movement. Their joyful moves were mine as well. I experienced love for the French countryside through their dance. I guess national pride is contagious. The singers also played a song in English but with a French Accent. L is for the way you look tonight. It was a great afternoon. I also have no power to resist buying stuff at festivals. So I bought some french breads and a charcuterrie board. Me and my friend had it later as a snack, and it was the morsels that make Paris great. This review was tied to Bastille day. But I incldued a picture of all the different concerts. If you want a suggestion, grab a picnic lunch from very nearby Grand Central Market and experience your own music choice amonst DTLA buildings. Remember that moment is someone else dream.

No matter where you sit, you will be able to hear the music. Bring portable seating and your picnic basket (or support local businesses that stay open during these events. 2026 and parking is now $10 CASH or $18 with a card that you pay upon leaving. This is an LA tradition everyone should at least try once!

It is hauntingly beautiful yet cacophonous (in the best way) - a visual, sonic, and story telling adventure. The huge courtyard with giant fountain spans the three theatres there -- the Mark Taper, the Ahmanson (both for plays and musicals), and the mighty Dorothy Chandler (for opera and ballet). It's massive! We were there for the new Philip Glass opera, ancient Egypt's Akhnaten. Lots of Queen Nefertiti cosplay so it's worth getting there early for the people watching. Seats are impossibly pricey, so it may be a one-time thing but I'd say worth it. Our front row seats (but on the side so you miss a tiny, tiny bit of the stage) were about $200 each. The Dorothy Chandler is huge so you may need your (appropriately named) opera glasses if you're up in the hinterland. For most operas, there are "supertitles" above the stage which translate what you're watching. Robbie Yelp tip on food -- the sit-down restaurants on and adjacent to the plaza are super pricey. Instead, do this: the Mullin Wine Bar is right there on the pavilion. For two to share, get one pizza and one charcuterie plate. Both are delicious and filling; that's $50. Add drinks and you're getting close to a hundo, but it is what it is. Take your food and drinks out into the plaza for people watching until the opera bell rings. O sole mio!

Oftentimes, my visit to…read morethe area have been to the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the LA Phil (and usually Vespaio afterwards), the MOCA, or to The Broad. Recently, I was here for LA Opera Verdi's Falstaff. Previous to this visit, I have never been to an opera only performance, besides having one as part of a concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall or watching them on PBS. I read the summary first prior to attending and all the information provided on the website was very helpful (from parking, opera summary, etc.), especially for first time visitors. Despite a road closure nearby, it was still pretty easy to get into the parking structure and walk over to the Pavilion. We arrived early to pick up your tickets and use the restroom prior to the performance. With any "subtitles", they often tend to be to the side, so I often had to look to the right and back to the stage to understand what they were singing about. The stage did not look as big as I expected, but when the sets were switched, I was amazed at the beautiful sets and also how "grand" they looked from my seat. During the intermission, there were snacks and drinks one could purchase. I love that they also offered throat drops to the side, which some patrons should probably have used as they were coughing during the performance. The lines to the women's restroom were also coordinated, as if one was at Disneyland. We were lucky enough to zip through the roped-off lines early on before the lines really started to get long. We also stepped out for air prior to the intermission being over. There were "pre-" and "post-" performance talks and I wished that I was able to hear where the post-performance talk was going to be. I had left after the applause to hurry and use the restroom, so I missed the location announcement of the post-performance talks. Yes, I could have asked an employee but my friend had also already walked outside of the venue. The Music Center also had an "art" installation next door, in a small space so we also checked it out before we left. The performance was wonderful and the employees we encountered were very kind. It was easy to get to and from the venue, from the parking structure. It is a great location and would recommend a visit at least once.

Recently, they've switched to online ordering, and it has really changed the experience. Instead of quickly looking through a menu and placing an order with a server, you can end up spending much of the 30-minute pre-show period staring at your phone. That defeats part of the reason I come here in the first place. I've also noticed that the menu has been scaled back significantly. Some of my favorite items, including the breakfast sandwiches and other offerings, have disappeared. I used to recommend this theater not only because of its movie-loving atmosphere but also because of the quality and variety of the food. I don't come here for standard movie-theater snacks. I come for the great food, good beer and cocktails, nostalgic atmosphere, and overall experience. If the new ownership continues cutting back on what made this place unique, they risk losing loyal regulars. At that point, I might as well go to AMC if I'm just looking for typical movie-theater food. I hope management listens to customer feedback and preserves the qualities that made this theater stand out.
