Today I had an amazing experience at this store! The manager Shruti Bhalla is an angel! Her work ethic is ON POINT and she is the sweetest! Her customer service, the way she helped us from the beginning, her first hello when she saw us, helping us with the computer and all the work we had to do! Since passport fees are going up next week, I decided to renew my passport this week. I made up for the difference in passport fees with the price of the photos. :( $20+ for two passport photos. I should have gone to the post office instead, where they are doing the same for $15. From what I remember, even Walgreens is cheaper. But I didn't realize how much more UPS would be until he rang 'em up. Thankfully I won't be needing new passport photos for another ten years, but seriously, that is ridiculous. I am going to share my experience at this UPS store because I hope it serves as a warning, but I also think you might find it funny. At first, I thought they were playing a practical joke on me, but sadly, they were just wasting my time. Just some background information: I had taken a USPS priority box and packed it with a camera lens I was trying to send to my dad. The lens was wrapped in bubble wrap and put inside its protective case, which was then also wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a box full of soft things. After rushing out of work to get to this UPS store and hunting for parking before they closed (not a great parking situation in the area, and the store closes kind of early for a UPS store, at 6pm), here is what happened: Me: Hi, Could I just snag a piece of tape to close this priority mail box? (they ship USPS packages, and most post offices will let you have some tape if you're doing priority mail) Guy (idiot): What are you trying to do? Will all of your stuff fit in there? We don't give out tape here. Me: I'm just trying to close this box so I can ship it. Every other UPS store and USPS provides tape, even if they charge a small fee... Guy: Oh, we're not a USPS, so we don't have tape. Me: Ok, fine, I'll buy a roll of tape. I'd also like to send this package and insure it for the price of the lens. Guy: We don't provide insurance for USPS packages here. Me: .... Ok, then I guess I'll send it via UPS, I need it insured and to get there by Friday. Guy: Well, I don't know if its packaged well enough. Can it be dropped from eight feet? Also, you can't use that box if you're going to send it via UPS. It was designed for priority mail. Me: It's packaged very nicely, I hope you don't drop all of your packages from 8 feet...also, its just a box... I'm sure you could just put a UPS label on it. Guy: No Me: Ok, fine, if I buy a box of the same size, will you at least let me use your tape? Guy: Sure, I'll tape it for you. So it looks like your cheapest option is UPS ground for $40 and it will get there next week by Tuesday. Me: I really need it there by this friday, how much will UPS three day cost? Guy: If you want it there by Friday, I can only guarantee it with 2nd Day air, which will cost you $70. Honestly, I would just send it using the priority mail box, and don't even bother insuring it. Me: Well, it's worth over a thousand dollars and I just told you that, so I would really like to make sure it gets there intact... --lady (the pregnant one) comes over-- Lady: Sir, because of the high value of this item, you will have trouble with the UPS insurance because the claim handlers will find it is not packed properly. If you want to insure it, I recommend you choose the "pack and ship" guarantee, where we will package it for you, and if anything happens, you will be refunded the price of the item and your shipping. Me: It's packaged just fine, and I don't want to pay very much for extra services. How much does that cost? Lady: It costs $40 in addition to the price of the shipping. And without it, it is very unlikely that you will get your money back in the event of damage. Me: So you're telling me that to ship this small package, you want to charge $110? that is ridiculous Lady: I don't know what the shipping cost will be, I will check for you, but the packaging is $40. Me: He just said it was $70 for the shipping...that would be $110 for a 3 pound package. And what exactly would you do to package it? I already packaged it, so I'm not sure why I should pay extra for you to do it again? Lady: Well, he didn't know if we would be packaging it for you. What we would do is take the item and wrap it in bubble wrap, and then put that in a box full of foam peanuts. Then, if necessary, due to the high value of the item, we would wrap that box in bubble wrap and put it inside another, larger box full of packing peanuts. We would then tape it very securely.....it looks like the price will be $140......for the shipping....and an additional $40 for the pack and ship guarantee. Me: He just told me the shipping would be $70, why are you making up new numbers? Lady: He didn't realize we would be packing it, and it costs more because we would be double boxing it with a bigger box. Me: You realize it would be ridiculous for me to spend $180 on a single package, right? I came to UPS because its supposed to be an easy time-saver, but you've just wasted my time. Lady: Sir, if you want to send your item by friday and protect it, this is really the best way. If you don't want to, I can get the door for you. Me: No thank you, I can see myself out. For those of you who got tired of my long recount of the conversation, the jist is that this store's employees tried to charge me $180 to send a small, 3-pound package within the US. I took the same package to USPS the next day and express 2-day shipping cost me a total of $25, including insurance. The UPS employees at this store are horrible... read more

NEVER GO HERE. There is a reason they only have 2.5 stars and in my opinion, they shouldn't have any. THIS IS NOT UPS, IT IS A MORE EXPENSIVE AND MEANER VERSION OF UPS. They will not help you if you have a problem, they will not call you back. They try to ignore you until you go away. I have had the worst customer experience there of my life, and I have now heard several accounts from others with the same experience. The manager is to blame - she will not take responsibility for her mistakes or the mistakes of her employees. This store is a rip and if you do anything beyond "normal shipping practices" they are free to charge you whatever they want. I found this out the hard way ($200 more than it should have been via normal UPS) and I hope you do not repeat my same mistake. They stay in business by tricking people to pay way more than they should. This store should no doubt have it's franchise license taken away. I recommend to anyone who has had a bad experience with this store to write a formal complaint to UPS and Mailboxes, Etc (the franchise stores) so that this kind of behavior does not continue. Don't bother. Prices are INSANELY high. Fedex 2 day with a FREE box was $40 cheaper than their UPS ground with a $15 box. Seriously the box cost $15. I already had the item packaged in a box but it had another label on it so they said "oh we'll but it in another box for you." I'm thinking $4-8. Nope $15 and they said they gave me a discount. $50 later my tiny item will arrive in NY in 8 days via ground. I usually have a prepaid UPS label ready. I drop it off, they scan it. In some cases I only have my Label and no tape. So they sometimes tape if for me, no hassle. Today was the exception. I have had pretty good service there but today has pushed it way over. I brought my label, forgot to tape the label to my package. The owner who was a female lady wearing some type of fancy shaw, saw that i needed to tape the label to the package. She told the employee to charge me $2.50 for 3 STRANDS OF TAPE... WHAT a B&$*@^!!!!! Who does that?!!! ok 25 cents not $2.50!!! Its not like they dont get paid for even taking my package...i learned previously these places didnt make money on taking pre-labeled packages, NOW THEY DO...so why in the heck would they charge for damn tape... The other reviewer was right, it seems that when the owner is around, things are bad..shouldnt it be other way aronud.. service should improve when the owners are around... WTF! read more

What a rip. Who would have thought copying ten-brochures would be so difficult? I even supplied them with the binding materials and a sample booklet. All I asked for were for the booklet to be copied, over-sized pages be folded and collated in order, and an estimate be given prior to the start of the work. I received incomplete brochures the evening before the deadline, that contained slippage, collating errors and over-sized pages being improperly folded. I was only able to salvage one of the booklets for my presentation. When they gave me the defective brochures, they also gave me a highly priced bill which could cover a holiday mailing. On top of the incomplete booklets, they charged me five times more than another printer would have charged (believe me, I checked). With this price tag, you would expect a better product than the one I received. At no time was I ever presented an estimate for the work. Buyer beware: Stay away from this store! read more

I wish I could give this store 0 stars. If you want your packages to make it to their destination AND remain in tact, I suggest going somewhere else... I shipped a light fixture through this store, packaged it myself and wrote the words FRAGILE all over it. A month later, the recipient let me know she never got it. Hmmmm.... curious. I tracked down the package, it was still in the Burlingame store I had tried to ship it from and I was told it was "damaged" but the word they meant to use was "destroyed." Literally every light bulb, every piece of glass on the thing was shattered. The manager told me "The warehouse guys drop things from 7 feet overhead sometimes so the word FRAGILE doesn't mean anything to them." She was somewhat apologetic but told me the store of course couldn't cover the cost of the broken fixture because they didn't package it themselves, which is fine, I didn't pay for the light to be insured. But she also refused to refund me for the shipping. So they broke my light fixture and charged me to send it.... NOWHERE. They gave me a 1-800 number which suggested I contact the store. So it's a fun run-around I'm now on and everyone is pointing the other way. I guess keeping a customer isn't worth a refund of $53. Message received! I'll be a loyal Fed Ex customer from now on! The customer service here was great. I brought them a big pile of bassinet parts and they gave me an estimate on packing it up and shipping. I came back later and it turned out that they had to use a larger box than expected. So shipping costs jumped to double what they expected. But I was told that they'd make it work and they wouldn't charge me the new shipping costs--just what they'd quoted me. Terrible service. My experience there has been unsatisfactory. Please avoid this store. The personnel need more customer service training. I visited this UPS store last week to scan a one page document. One of the employees offered to help me scan it and then asked me to check to see if I received it in my email inbox. I checked my inbox on my phone and saw that the employee scanned the wrong document and instead sent me a 15-page document of something else. In the end, they corrected the mistake but it took me 30 minutes to scan a one page document. This week, I gave the store another chance. I went in to drop off a package but needed tape to stick an Amazon postage on my envelope for drop off at their store. The employee told me that it would cost me $4 to use their tape! From now on, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

So I felt pretty lucky that this place was so close to Bgame Ave. 3 stars for doing it quickly and asking me if I liked my picture. Let's be honest, I'm never gonna like the picture, white background, forced smile, not so much. But thanks for trying to ensure satisfaction. They are very nice. Their printer told me that my prints were B&W, and then it printed color. When I told the staff about this, they simply gave me the lower print rate (.25) instead of .60 per page. I appreciate the kindness and understanding. It saved me more than 30 dollars. read more

Ridiculous plus they said they couldn't get it done in the 48 hours I requested. So I went to kinkos in millbrae instead and got it done in 12 hours full color, staple for $1.50 a brochure.
