It is extremely rare for me to do and negative review. I think there are so many variables that it's often not fair to judge a business by one or even a few employees poor performance. Plus there are so many amazing businesses out there that I would much rather spend my effort on positive feedback. This is very different, this fish stinks from the head... I called this UPS store location, at Portola Parkway, ahead of time to inquire about notary service and what I would need to do in order to have some bank documents notarized. I spoke with manager Scott and he said I could arrive anytime after 2 PM and Shawn/Sean (sp?) would be there to notarize them for me. When I arrived Shawn was notarizing for someone else so Scott checked me in and I waited, at this moment they were not busy at all. About five minutes later it was my turn with Shawn the notary. There were three people in another line with packages to check in and so Shawn said, "Give me two seconds and I'll check her items in." I had a strange look on my face and he said, "Just two seconds" again. Shawn couldn't see it from his angle; however, this customer had three items, one unpackaged, another need to be sealed and she said had a few more things to do, this was more like a 5 to 10 minute visit... I said I had been waiting a while now and I'm right here ready to get started. Shawn noticed his mistake when the customer bent over to pick up all her items and yet still insisted on having her bypass me and so I collected my document from the counter and walked out saying "Not Cool Shawn". At the last second, I came back inside because I noticed manager Scott returning from the backroom as I was leaving and I said to Scott, "What Shawn did wasn't cool." Immediately Shawn started shouting and saying it was only going to be two seconds and yet 20 or 30 seconds and gone by and he still hadn't even come close to finishing helping the person who he had jump the line. Keep in mind I had already waited for five minutes after I had arrived and checked in. Shawn continued to talk over me while I was speaking to Manager Scott and said "You're supposed to have an appointment for notary." I asked Scott, "Did I not call you and set this up?" and Scott said, "Yes, you called." As Scott and I were speaking, Shawn started yelling over us once more saying, "You did not have an appointment and I'm only needing two seconds." He was off awful, and so in the wrong. I said to Scott, you're the manager, can you shut this man up, he is being obnoxious, or is there something wrong with him?" HERE IS THE KICKER... Scott said, "Yes I am the manager; however, Shawn is the owner." My jaw dropped and I said, "Oh my gosh this is so pathetic, there are so many things wrong with all of this." Shawn yelled at me to leave and I said, "Of course I'm going to leave, You have no idea how to provide customer service and I will never come back here again for anything." I have traveled over the world and have seen many different levels of customer service in many cultures. I do not now the owner Shawn's ethnicity; however, he had either an Eastern European or Middle Eastern accent, I have many Eastern European and Middle Eastern friends, none of which have ever behaved like Shawn; however, he was an obnoxious male store owner that cannot admit when he was wrong and so he just talked louder and made more of a fool of himself. The irony to all of this is that the notaries are $15 each so I was going to pay them $45 for the highly profitable service. I can only imagine they have to handle a great number of packages to make $45 from their affiliation with UPS. Simply put, if Shawn had said to me, "I'm sorry I made a mistake, I promise I'll finish up with her as quickly as I can and then I'll get to your documents as soon as possible." I would've been perfectly content. It was just that his obstinance wouldn't allow him to admit that he was capable any kind of mistake. This owner, Shawn, does not understand the very basics of customer service, that yelling at a customer, that especially in this case was absolutely in the right, is not appropriate. Shawn is the opposite of what UPS's campaign of "ING" is all about! He is very good at shoutING and wrongING, and horrible at servicING, listenING, supportING customers. Quite frankly a man like Shawn should never be allowed to talk to any customers, imagine what this man's poor family has to put up with, he gives a bad name to his culture, whatever it may be. This is absolutely not a racial THING, this is a person who consistently makes bad choices THING! Shame on you Shawn and UPS! UPS should consider a better Owner/Partner for this location. read more

If you're looking to do an Amazon return, they are super fast! I went in there and walked out in less than 2 minutes. The location was super clean and organized. I typically go to another location, but I am glad I found this spot for future use. read more

Sean and Scott are the best the best!! I walked into the store an hour before it closed with four heavy boxes and a document to send to two different places. Sean was kind enough to help me bring the boxes in so I didn't have to break my back and both of them made the normally boring process of mailing packages simple professional and even fun. Nothing gets me loving a place more than a phenomenal people experience and both Sean and Scott were more than happy to cater to that with bright smiles a wonderful attitude and a great system to keep lady and package happy. If I could give this store zero stars I would! I just left the Foothill Ranch UPS Store on 27472 Portola Parkway after dealing with a rude employee. It seems Amazon has changed their return policy and instead of kindly explaining that, the elderly man with an accent who works there, was unkind, rude, condescending and a complete jerk! I would have happily spent my money there to buy the envelope I needed for my return, but instead of giving this store another cent, I went to the UPS Store in Lake Forest in Trabuco and Lake Forest, where Michael was completely helpful and kind, and happily explained the changes to the Amazon return policy, and took my return with no issues. I will continue to bring my business to the Lake Forest store, rather than deal with the grumpy, rude man with zero interpersonal skills in Foothill Ranch. Do yourself a favor, avoid this store! Added to respond to the ever so lovely Scott- Lies! I acknowledged my misunderstanding with the change in policy, as a matter of fact, I redid the return in your store because again, I was unclear of the change in policy. Instead of being helpful and customer service oriented to help me through the process, you made condescending remarks, barked demands at me, and went back to ignoring me while I tried to understand the new policy changes. Own your mistakes and rudeness! It's clear you don't have customer service, nor do you care about having customers return to your store based on reviews previous to me. I wasn't the first to be treated rudely by you, and I'm certain I won't be the last. Additionally, I did not act in an entitled manner like you, nor did I make rude comments to you. In fact I told you what a sweetheart you were and wished you a Merry Christmas as you yelled at me while I walked out the door vowing to take my business elsewhere. Funny fact, the store I went to instead, was very aware of your rudeness and unwillingness to help customers and take Amazon returns. Unfortunately, after being nice couple times and asking us to leave a good review, which we did. The guy over there turned to be so rude with my wife. I don't recommend this store as they are so mean and you will be frustrated. They need to know how to treat their customers and be respectful to them. I am not really sure why they get frustrated with Amazon returns. It takes time, I totally get it but if you will treat people like trash to return your purchases just don't do it, it's simple. F'n rude AF!!! I didn't have tape to close an Amazon box for an item I was returning and they were charging me $2 for F'n tape. Are you serious? I went to the one I usually go to and they were nice and used some of their tape. The head guy raises his voice at me and says... there are 2 signs that customers must seal all packages. Had to go to this specific UPS Store yesterday to get LiveScan done and the owner, Sean, was so professional and helpful. He knew most everyone in line and treated them like family and he also went out of his way to assist me. I wanted to come in earlier than the appointment and he worked with me on that. I had a great experience at the UPS store in Foothill Ranch all due to their wonderful employee Sean. I arrived before the store opened after having mistaken the opening hours and Sean noticed I was waiting coming out to see how he could help. As I was heading out of town and has some Amazon returns, he allowed me to leave my packages and promised to process them when the store was open. I usually just come here to drop off Amazon and UPS returns. The older gentleman who is usually the one handling the Amazon returns really needs some customer service lessons. He's fairly rude (and usually to women) and condescending. As Amazon returns vary in their directions, he tends to point out that the customer didn't read the directions and that there would be a packaging fee or that the customer did something wrong. The last time I came in, I had my package in the original envelope but didn't seal it in case the store was going to place the label on the item. He asks me open my phone, navigate to the return instructions and "read the second bullet." After telling me that I needed to seal my package, I asked him for a receipt. He goes, why don't you just take a photo of the label on the your phone? While he may seem like he's being helpful, he's coming across as condescending. If the return label is not ready when you are at the counter, he calls the next customer. It does take a while, you know! I am now planning to make any Amazon returns to Kohl's and any UPS returns to other stores than this one. read more

Reading the negative posts, perhaps if those returning Amazon products would read the Amazon Requirements, they would have less issues. I have returned many items to Amazon and find this UPS Store and staff to be very convenient, always professional and very informative. The issues typically are Amazon tracking issues, not UPS. Today I was shipping a product back to a Company for warranty work, not Amazon. Sean was extremely professional and finalized the account creation to allow for faster shipping needs and conducted the transition very well. I am very happy to have the convenience of this UPS Store and to those who want to complain, you can always go to the Post Office if dissatisfied. read more

I have been coming here very often now that Amazon does not offer UPS pickup. SEAN has been great and never had any problems with him or his staff. I pack and seal my packages and present the QR code for receipt. I am shocked when I see 'NON PAYING' customer trying to drop off Amazon stuff and give Sean attitude. Totally unacceptable with these rude and self entitled people! Here is a tip...if you want to feel really good about yourself, why don't you folks pay the $7.99 ups pickup fee and this way none of us need to see you or your damn attitude come through those doors! read more

Make sure you box and tape up your Amazon returns. They will charge $2-3 dollars to tape up the box. Even though Amazon instruction says they will box it all up at the location at no charge. My last couple visits to this ups store for my Amazon returns were unsuccessful and I am skeptical of their practice. 1st visit - my box was not taped so they asked for $3 to tape up the box and ship it out. 2nd visit - had a sign on the door that the Amazon is down and they can't take the returns. 3rd visit - turned away, the person at the counter told me the Amazon system isn't working (AGAIN..?) and that it's down nation wide. What's weird is that I had placed an order on Amazon just before visiting there. There were no system malfunction. it worked fine. But maybe return is different. So, I went to another location few miles away just to see if this was true but hey ! They took my item and was able to return just fine. In conclusion, I don't know if there was truly a system malfunction from Amazon nationwide like the rep told me earlier today. Just so happens this is the only ups location that supposedly is experiencing "system down" and cannot accept Amazon return. I feel like this location doesn't want to deal with customers with Amazon returns because maybe there's no profit-making and is consistently blaming the "system malfunction or system down" as an excuse to refuse customer that's not benefiting their own business. read more

Stay away from this UPS! They have been rude to me and my fiancé several times. And now we have had it!!! You do not need to treat people with your rude attitude! Last week I went to do an Amazon return. I was told by the older man that I had to wait 10-15 minutes since the UPS truck was there and they were too busy to take us. Seriously! Get some help and hire more employees! That is not the first time this has happened and it is not my problem! I have been asked several times to wait 10-15 minutes so they could deal with the Amazon truck. I was always very kind. But I had to be at church to volunteer. Also, I did not appreciate the tone of voice used and how I was told by this older man. And also I was scolded by employee Scott for not following proper instructions for a return! I did not tape the box (never had this happen?). It's a guessing game! Amazon needs to instruct us better. I refuse to ever do business again at this location!
