Been using this location for a few years and never had a problem. Today I brought an Amazon return package in and apparently things changed where it now says "customer packed" under the QR code. I used to bring Amazon returns in here with the top of the box open and UPS would simply tape the box shut and ship it. Costs them mere pennies to use that piece of tape. This time the guy at the counter, Scott, refused to take the package and refused to simply close the box with a piece of tape. So instead I had to leave with the box, drive all the way home, put a stupid piece of tape on it, then drive back (because I was NOT about to buy an entire roll of tape for a single piece). Total waste of my time for a stupid piece of tape and Scott was complety rude about it. Then when I came back the 2nd time his barcode scanner couldn't read the QR code from the Amazon email I was showing him on my phone and his response was again rude. After having to log into Amazon on my browser and find the QR code in my account it finally worked. Terrible customer service and making me rethink ever using this location again. After seeing all the other negative reviews on here and Google for this UPS location, it's no surprise I had such a terrible experience. Perhaps it's time customers started alerting the UPS regional manager about this location's poor service. Also, as a small business owner myself, I suspect the owner is padding reviews on here and Google with friend's reviews because it's odd for a business to have such a high amount polarizing 1 and 5 star reviews. From my experience I recommend people trust the 1 stars, not the 5s. read more

This is a great UPS store location. Really friendly people, and very helpful. I've been using this specific UPS store for four years and I've never had an issue. Really quick, unlike so many other locations, great hours, usually ooen till after 6 on weekdays, perfect for after work drop offs and pick ups. What are your store hours Monday-Friday? The hours you have displayed on the front of your store shows M-F 9am-6pm. I arrived at your store today, Thursday 7/30, before 6pm and the door was already locked. I knocked on the door as I could still see employees inside and they just ignored me. It's bad business practice to close the store prior to the stores actual closing time, regardless of how slow business is or how eager your employees are to leave work. Please have the owner contact me. I'd like an explanation as to why it's so difficult for your employees to keep the store open for a few more minutes until the actual closing time. I understand that that is what is posted. But I am sticking to my first comment and that is that I HAVE NEVER BEEN CHARGED FOR TAPE IN THE 20+ YEARS I HAVE BEEN SENDING PACKAGES! It is soooo incredibly petty!!! If you want to nickel and dime your customers like that, you will lose them. And this is probably why a lot of our neighbors only go to your store if they have to. They go somewhere else if they can. And you are incredibly deceiving by your comment about how big my box was as if I needed that whole box taped up! That was an ignorant comment to defend yourself with because I only needed two pieces of tape!!!! I didn't need to tape up the whole box!!! For you to make that assumption is just wrong. I would never go into a store and ask for that! That would be rude of me. But in this case, I had already taped it up except for a small little part that I left open on purpose so I could put a piece of paper inside before it was taped up. THAT IS WHY I WAS ASKING FOR TAPE! It wasn't to tape up the whole box! It was just a small little section! My gosh! See, this is why your store could do so much better if you just had better customer service and a better attitude. No wonder why you have the reputation that you have with that location. read more

It is extremely rare for me to do and negative review. I think there are so many variables that it's often not fair to judge a business by one or even a few employees poor performance. Plus there are so many amazing businesses out there that I would much rather spend my effort on positive feedback. This is very different, this fish stinks from the head... I called this UPS store location, at Portola Parkway, ahead of time to inquire about notary service and what I would need to do in order to have some bank documents notarized. I spoke with manager Scott and he said I could arrive anytime after 2 PM and Shawn/Sean (sp?) would be there to notarize them for me. When I arrived Shawn was notarizing for someone else so Scott checked me in and I waited, at this moment they were not busy at all. About five minutes later it was my turn with Shawn the notary. There were three people in another line with packages to check in and so Shawn said, "Give me two seconds and I'll check her items in." I had a strange look on my face and he said, "Just two seconds" again. Shawn couldn't see it from his angle; however, this customer had three items, one unpackaged, another need to be sealed and she said had a few more things to do, this was more like a 5 to 10 minute visit... I said I had been waiting a while now and I'm right here ready to get started. Shawn noticed his mistake when the customer bent over to pick up all her items and yet still insisted on having her bypass me and so I collected my document from the counter and walked out saying "Not Cool Shawn". At the last second, I came back inside because I noticed manager Scott returning from the backroom as I was leaving and I said to Scott, "What Shawn did wasn't cool." Immediately Shawn started shouting and saying it was only going to be two seconds and yet 20 or 30 seconds and gone by and he still hadn't even come close to finishing helping the person who he had jump the line. Keep in mind I had already waited for five minutes after I had arrived and checked in. Shawn continued to talk over me while I was speaking to Manager Scott and said "You're supposed to have an appointment for notary." I asked Scott, "Did I not call you and set this up?" and Scott said, "Yes, you called." As Scott and I were speaking, Shawn started yelling over us once more saying, "You did not have an appointment and I'm only needing two seconds." He was off awful, and so in the wrong. I said to Scott, you're the manager, can you shut this man up, he is being obnoxious, or is there something wrong with him?" HERE IS THE KICKER... Scott said, "Yes I am the manager; however, Shawn is the owner." My jaw dropped and I said, "Oh my gosh this is so pathetic, there are so many things wrong with all of this." Shawn yelled at me to leave and I said, "Of course I'm going to leave, You have no idea how to provide customer service and I will never come back here again for anything." I have traveled over the world and have seen many different levels of customer service in many cultures. I do not now the owner Shawn's ethnicity; however, he had either an Eastern European or Middle Eastern accent, I have many Eastern European and Middle Eastern friends, none of which have ever behaved like Shawn; however, he was an obnoxious male store owner that cannot admit when he was wrong and so he just talked louder and made more of a fool of himself. The irony to all of this is that the notaries are $15 each so I was going to pay them $45 for the highly profitable service. I can only imagine they have to handle a great number of packages to make $45 from their affiliation with UPS. Simply put, if Shawn had said to me, "I'm sorry I made a mistake, I promise I'll finish up with her as quickly as I can and then I'll get to your documents as soon as possible." I would've been perfectly content. It was just that his obstinance wouldn't allow him to admit that he was capable any kind of mistake. This owner, Shawn, does not understand the very basics of customer service, that yelling at a customer, that especially in this case was absolutely in the right, is not appropriate. Shawn is the opposite of what UPS's campaign of "ING" is all about! He is very good at shoutING and wrongING, and horrible at servicING, listenING, supportING customers. Quite frankly a man like Shawn should never be allowed to talk to any customers, imagine what this man's poor family has to put up with, he gives a bad name to his culture, whatever it may be. This is absolutely not a racial THING, this is a person who consistently makes bad choices THING! Shame on you Shawn and UPS! UPS should consider a better Owner/Partner for this location. read more

I used to go to this location all the time. The people there were always helpful and they had very good customer service. Sadly the store changed ownership and now I do my best NOT to go there. The new owner is rude and does nothing to offer courteous customer service. Sadly, there is a young man there who has always been friendly and helpful but the new owner is so bad it's. I usually just come here to drop off Amazon and UPS returns. The older gentleman who is usually the one handling the Amazon returns really needs some customer service lessons. He's fairly rude (and usually to women) and condescending. As Amazon returns vary in their directions, he tends to point out that the customer didn't read the directions and that there would be a packaging fee or that the customer did something wrong. The last time I came in, I had my package in the original envelope but didn't seal it in case the store was going to place the label on the item. He asks me open my phone, navigate to the return instructions and "read the second bullet." After telling me that I needed to seal my package, I asked him for a receipt. He goes, why don't you just take a photo of the label on the your phone? While he may seem like he's being helpful, he's coming across as condescending. If the return label is not ready when you are at the counter, he calls the next customer. It does take a while, you know! I am now planning to make any Amazon returns to Kohl's and any UPS returns to other stores than this one. read more

Sean was kind enough to help me bring the boxes in so I didn't have to break my back and both of them made the normally boring process of mailing packages simple professional and even fun. As previous review's observed here, I can validate that the owner of the business is rude and condescending. He had to remind me verbally that he told me 2 times and then when he repeated himself he made sure he said " I have told you now 3x". It was just a simple taping of a return amazon package. I'm not sure why this business gets such poor reviews. I have never encountered the gruff, rude and sour manager/owner or employee mentioned in these, and have always entered to a warm greeting and smile. I also have my packages properly sealed, and addressed, or my return QR code ready on my phone, so the return transaction can be executed as quickly as possible. I'm always asked if I'd like the return receipt and am professionally given it. As many of these reviews are about having to pay for tape, the poor owner would go broke providing it to every customer. It is after all "The UPS Store"! I love the convenience. read more
