I needed to drop off some amazon returns and get a mailbox. I had 4 times that needed to get returned and they looked similar so I managed to mix them all up. The guy at the front counter, (shaved head and tattoos on right arm) was very patient and helpful. I got the items returned and a new mailbox setup right away. Fairly decent UPS Store. No big complaints, but nothing special either. I do like the location because it's right next to a grocery store and other businesses and restaurants, making it very convenient. There are also a lot of homes nearby, making it great for people who want to mail something quickly and don't want to drive to the nearest USPS office. It's a very small space, so you may have to wait outside in a line when it's busy. read more

Update to respond to what the manager commented: "We did offer to re-package the box, but the offer was declined. Packages that are not optimally packed often damage themselves by rattling around" THE PACKAGE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DAMAGED IF IT WAS BOXED WITH AN EXTRA BOX AND PADDING LIKE MY MOM PAID FOR. Of course she wasn't going to open the box, she boxed it well and was paying for it to be in a whole different box with more padding, if this would have happened, the package would have never damaged. "We also offered insurance for the package to cover potential value over $100 dollars, but this too was declined." I realized this when my initial damage report was filed. However, only $20 was given back to my mom for the wine glasses. Not an additional $80 to cover some of the statue. The full $100 amount should have been refunded since the items damaged were far over this amount. "The value of the Santa statue didn't come to our attention until the damage claim was processed. And most importantly we only offer damage claims for packages processed by us." The lack of packaging on the outside WAS THE STORE'S FAULT. The package was processed by the store, because they didn't package it as paid for. When the associate asked my mother what was in the box, she said wine glasses and a ceramic statue. The associate only wrote down wineglasses. Again, not my mother's fault. The lack of responsibility the owner and this store is taking only proves no one should use this store ever. I'll make sure to spread the word to as many people as I can to use any other shipping store on the planet. We have sent another letter to the store owner, the corporate location in San Diego, and the corporate email. Hopefully the ownership and management can change drastically. read more

Bad management. Two employees at the counter. One was struggling with the register, he said computer is so slow. The other was waiting for a customer who was copying tons of receipts to be sent. This is a strange review. I'd call and speak to the manager but I don't believe one is there. I walked in to a very young employee losing it over a gentleman's Amazon return WHY IS EVERY TRACKING NUMBER THE SAME and harping at his colleague only to discover it was the customer's error. Apparently this kid employee was the most senior or the three present. He proceeds to rant about needing to get his laundry and bolted out the front door on his scooter. I commented Dennis and Frank (the other two staff) for staying calm while this young guy was extremely unprofessional. I usually go to the UPS Store on Melrose, but the Marron location was more convenient for me one day recently. I had an Amazon return with a QR code, which usually instructs not to put it in a shipping box. I've made many of these types of returns at other UPS Store locations. I was told immediately by the employee in the photos provided by another reviewer that he needed it to be in a box. I tried to show him the QR code and explain it was an Amazon return with a QR code, but he interrupted me, repeating that he needed it to be in a box. I started to mention Amazon again, and he interrupted again, saying "This is not Amazon; this is the UPS Store." I kept trying to show him my return code and instructions, but he would not allow me to say 2 words before interrupting me again and would not look at what i was trying to show him. I thought maybe he was having a bad day, but I see several reviewers had similar experiences with this employee. I will no longer go to this location. I was able to ship my return at my usual location, where the employees have always been friendly, accommodating,, patient, and professional. read more

It's a little disappointing that an Amazon return center that a UPS store charges $9.99 for a 14 x 14 box this is something that you can commonly bar for $1.5-2.00 bucks everywhere else. I was in the UPS store at 8:36 am on 9/4/20. I did not place my 6" x 9" envelope on the scale and the gentleman abruptly yelled out $9. This store is closed every single time I come here. Sometimes there will be a note on the door that says they are on a lunch break but most of the time there is no note. On the window it says that they are open at the time that I come and it says they are open on google. So it's not like I just keep coming outside of their hours. I understand if they are understaffed and need to temporarily close the store sometimes but it would be really nice to know if they were closed before I drive all the way there. The times that I have come, a lot of people come too to drop off their packages so it's not like they don't have business. I rarely write review, and generally when I so, it is to complement a business. This is an exception: it is a warning. Avoid this UPS store. First, look at the reviews. I am not alone in my view. Short version of my lament: They lost my overnight letter (they made a label but never gave it to the UPS driver). Ok, mistakes happen. Then they tried to cover I up by saying it was the driver's fault and to keep checking the tracking number; blaming others is uncool. Finally, they refused (REFUSED) to start a trace to try to find the package. Since UPS stores are the actual shipper, they must initiate the trace. By refusing to do so, they all but gave me the finger. So, I went to another UPS store (there is a great one on Oceanside, on Oceanside boulevard, please go there instead). They gave me a contact number for a supervisor that the stores contact. He initiated the trace, and ultimately documented the package was lost. To summarize: they are incompetent and dishonest. For your own good, just avoid them. read more

Went there this morning to ship a personal item. I was the only customer. The lady refused service because I didn't have a mask on. I asked if she had one and they said no. If you are going to require masks, then you should have some available. Went to another UPS store nearby and no problem there. I don't like giving negative reviews but I also think it's important to give people a head's up. I work near this UPS Store and for shipping they have been pretty good to work with, but for printing I would absolutely go elsewhere. And because the customer service turned out to be so negative, I will go elsewhere for shipping also. I called The UPS Store in a panic our printer went down in the middle of a print job [isn't that how it always happens] and we had 30 minutes until I had to leave for a presentation. I asked the employee if they could get me 25 copies of a 14 page document in 30 minutes. She replied "we should be able to" I replied "should doesn't work, either you can or can't. I will go elsewhere if you are unsure. This is really important" She replied "we can" Me "ok I am emailing it over now, please let me know when you get it so I know you are working on it." Her "ok" 10 minutes later.....no response to the email. So, I call "hello this is the rush job calling, did you get the document? Employee "hold on let me check". Okay, right here I should have known, but what I could I do. I'll cut this short now, I got there 40 minutes after I initiated the print job and they were still printing. Not only were they still printing but they hadn't collated the documents. So I had 350 pages to organize and staple, and the print quality was not good. I was upset. The young lady's response to my incredulity was, "I don't understand why you are upset, we got this printed in 15 minutes" I didn't point out that it had been 40 minutes, but I did say "are you kidding me, this isn't finished" I left 25 minutes later, after organizing the handouts and getting them to print pages they had missed. The response on my way out the door was a VERY sarcastic "well have a GREAT day". I almost stopped and dropped the box of printed material to demand my money back, but I needed them so I kept my head down and left. I was 10 minutes late for the meeting after driving way to fast on the freeway. I will admit I was not a joy to deal with, I never raised my voice but there was no doubt that I was fuming. I paid a lot of money to get poorly printed handouts, to spend my time organizing the handouts, and then to get attitude on my way out. I've waited two weeks to write this review so I would be calm when I did it.....maybe I should have waited longer. ;) read more

After getting a qoute at another UPS store of $43 to ship a package a few days earlier, I took the exact same package to this store and they tried to charge me over $120! These guys are crooks and extremely rude! They referred to me as "buddy" very sarcastically and hung up the phone on me after not being able to explain the price increase. The only plus I can give this place is that the girl working prioritized customers and in truth that may be a negative thing in some peoples opinion. By this I mean that she helped customers who had quicker transactions first (for example just dropping off) Unfortunately this put me in the back of the line since I was returning AT&T uverse equipment. The girl told me I could just drop it off and a receipt would be emailed to me later but I explained that I needed the receipt before I left since the equipment was valuable. She told me "that's not going to happen because I do those at my convenience" seriously? Ok I'll wait. The guy in front of me was shipping Europe and she kept asking him how to format the international address in the computer. Shouldn't you know that? YOU WORK AT UPS. She ended up charging him over $60 to ship about 10 pages of documents in a flat envelope. Wow! I lived in Europe for 4 months and never ever paid that much to have a package shipped to me! In the end, it took me about 30-40 min of waiting to get my receipt. It took her 5 min (I timed it) to help me when it was finally "convenient" for her. poor customer service to most everyone in line and just a negative experience overall. read more

Always a debate in head on if I should use UPS I'm more into supporting local businesses. Today once again I got reminded of why I shouldn't go to UPS. Three packages prepaid online and UPS charged me 3 dollars to tape them closed. Really tape ur charging me for or is it for the labor all 5 seconds of the time it took u to seal the 3 boxes.. I also have a catalogue I regularly send out for my wife's pampered chief business and got charged over 5 bucks. Normally gets shipped for 3.50 at another place. Now I'm not complaining in the end it was under 10 bucks but I think it's clear that Over time I will save a bunch of money by not bringing my packages here.
