I absolutely love how easy and convenient this Postal Annex is. I frequently stop over on my lunch to mail packages for work, so I'm usually crunched for time. Sometimes there are quite a few people in the store, but I've never waited long. There are lots of cute trinket type things to look at while you're waiting too. I've always lucked out and gotten the same worker Krystal when I come in. She is super helpful, friendly and funny. She really interacts great with the customers! This is my experience of mailing a large envelope with a card. The woman behind the counter greeted me and was able to tell me how many stamps was needed to mail it. There was no up-sale and I was able to use the stamps I had. She explained where I could drop off mail and packages in the future as well. It saved me time to have this convenient location where it's at while I'm running errands in the area. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I requested USPS shipping and she quoted me Fedex. Swindling money hungry business. This is the email I sent to the owner ... I went into your store today to ship a package to Tennessee. I received a quote from USPS last night, so I had a figure in mind of how much everything would cost. First I was told the box I brought in was not going to work. LIE! Second I was told I needed to a bunch of stuffing. LIE! Lastly, I was told that boxing and shipping USPS was going to be close to $300. (WTF?) So I asked how much it would be for just shipping through USPS. I was told it was close to $200. I told her that the quote I received from USPS was $76.05. She told me I needed a special Retail account to get that price.  I left and went to a USPS location.  Guess what....I don't need a "special account" to pay that amount. FOR SHAME! I will not be going back to do business there. I am telling everyone of the undermining you are doing and the inflated pricing you are giving to people. The owner emailed back me and told me they gave me FedEx pricing and told me never to return. And that I should thank them for being open during the Pandemic. A pre-arranged dropoff label from FedEx was attached to the properly packaged item I had pre-paid for and dropped off on the pre-arranged date. For specifics (1/6/2021 @ 10:45 AM). That package was not picked up and scanned in until (1/7/2021 @ 5:01 PM) Which delayed the package and proved to be a $20+ hit for selecting a ship date that was scheduled to be earlier and ended up being delivered 2 days after the scheduled delivery date... I could have saved that $20+ by selecting a delivery date on the 7th of January. I understand that there is a delay in shipping. I get that. But the pick-up timing is something that was expressed to me as "not delayed". I will return with updates on this experience to let it be known how FedEx and this location will explain the delay of the package being picked up. .... stay tuned. read more

Not sure when this happened or if it is even legal - but I was just told that to drop off an amazon return with a prepaid label would cost me $4. The label is clearly marked no postage necessary if mailed in the states and is completely sealed in a box. Apparently the owner or manager does not want to be bothered with regular mail unless they are getting paid. Won't go there again! Consider yourself warned. read more

I have a post office box at this location in Carlsbad and the La Costa location. I would like to recognize what an awesome incredible employee Crystal is. I visit this store multiple times a week for various things. I check my mail and always get a warm welcome from Crystal. She's there sun up to sun down and always has a smile on her face. When I need to Fed Ex something or have something packaged she is Johnny on the spot! She knows everything. Postal Annex is a one stop shop for me and my busy schedule. After being a repeat customer for several years, I will never use this Postal Annex location again. A worker there was completely incompetent in packaging a valuable item I needed to send. My mistake was trusting that she knew what she was doing. She did not--and then when the &%# hit the fan, she was untruthful about what transpired and conveniently made it impossible to speak with the owner. I'd insured the package but after telling me the carrier had reviewed the case, she told me nothing could be done! I truly felt like I had been robbed. So if you're buying stamps, I guess this place is OK, but if you're asking to pack anything of value to be sent, carpe diem BIG TIME. read more

I was just here and the 20 something year old black girl took my 5 small items and instead of boxing them she laid them out on the scale and started measuring the pile. I said usually it's boxed then they measure the box. In an angry huff she sarcastically yelled at me that how would she know which box to use without measuing first? I said maybe fit the items in a box, then you know which box they fit in! That angered her so I shut up. She then told me my 5 small items shipped would cost $200. On Monday June 19th I went to the post office to send in our passports for renewal. It turned out to be Juneteenth, which is a Federal Holiday, and the the post office was closed. So I opted to go to this postal annex instead. Krystal, the manager, was the one who was manning the counter when I went there. Krystal was extremely condescending throughout the process. First off she made it very clear I was making a mistake send the old passports via certified mail instead of express mail. She kept telling me certified mail would take longer, even though I told her there was no rush. Why would I pay for a more expensive service when it's not needed? Then she had to comment on my mailing both passports in one envelope. (I did my research on renewing passports and I heard the renewal fee for each passport had to be a separate check, but there was absolutely no mention about not mailing them together.) Krystal proceeded to send my envelope via certified mail and told me I could track the package. After a couple of days I checked the tracking and nothing was coming up. I went back to postal annex and Krystal was there again. I told her how I wasn't getting any tracking information. Her response, again with a condescending tone, was that someone at the post office failed to do their job. So I went to the post office to see what happened. The postman told me that certified mail isn't tracked and that I would be notified of the delivery, if I paid for that service. Uh, I don't recall Krystal asking me about that. Today I received our new passports without a problem. So pretty much everything that Krystal told me was a misrepresentation. As long as Krystal works at this location, I will go elsewhere for any services that I may need from a postal annex. One of the worst customer experiences I've ever had...and yes, I just came back from giving Krystal an earfull. read more

I was expecting a couple packages delivered by DHL yesterday, and I had them rerouted to Postal Annex C'bad. I was going to pick them up on my way home after work but I got a text message from DHL saying 'recipient refused delivery', so I called Postal Annex C'bad thinking that the business was no longer there or something, but I was told that they no longer receive packages by their employee. Whatever has happened to Postal Annex C'bad led to such decision I have no problem but then they need to remove their business as Service Point for DHL or a warning for DHL customers that they don't receive packages. I picked Postal Annex C'bad because their business was listed as closest Service Point when I was asked to reroute the packages. I gave 3 stars because I had pleasant experiences with this business before until yesterday. read more

The store is nice looking and the people here are nice and are "just doing their jobs," as they told me. But what kind of postal service charges you $2 for less than 1 foot of packaging tape used on your package? If you are coming here to send out a package, make sure it's completely packaged or don't come here at all. FedEx and UPS are literally found right across the street. USPS is less than a 5 minute drive away. Seriously, you could go to Vons across the street and buy tape over there for less than $2. If you look at other PostalAnnex+ ratings, they are all pretty low. read more

I just tried to have a 3lb 3oz box shipped from Carlsbad, CA to MN and told the clerk I do NOT need any kind of rush service. I was quoted $38 for the "cheapest" service, which according to her was FedEx ground. She did not offer a USPS option, so I asked her about USPS shipping and she said: "the post office wants almost $60 to have it delivered in 6-7 days." Fortunately, I declined and walked away with my box, drove straight to my local USPS office and shipped the box Priority Mail-2 days guaranteed, insured and with tracking for $18. Beware, these people will try to rob you blind if you try to ship anything from their store. read more

As many reviewers have mentioned, terrible customer service. We had a massive package to return and we understood there would be a bit of a cost to return it. Firstly, the girls had no idea how to do the return and had to go on the phone to God knows how many people before she gave us a really high cost. Maybe the higher-than-expected quote is what led us to look into further quotes and we found Fedex to be loads cheaper. Upon telling her that, she said that she did think she had been misquoted for us, but I mean, look into it further if you think so. Apparently she looked at their suppliers and that was the cheapest quote. We just dragged our parcel out after a two hour time-waste here. This location is good! They usually have parking close by, but when the yoga studio has a class going on, forget about it. Friendly staff. Plus after hours you can still access you mail box, that's really important to me. The do often put the previous persons mail in mg box, kinda annoying. I was here last week shipping a over night package and they charged me 110 to ship fed ex and thought that was a little high then I shipped a package with a pre paid shipping label and they didn't charge me anything. I came back the next day to drop off another pre paid package again, they wanted to charge me $4 to just drop off the package. I ship weekly over night packages and i will not be back. Don't waist your time going in here. The owners just want to charge extra for everything. read more
