For shipping small stuff, like sub 10"x10"x10", then this place is alright and stays pretty true to the UPS shipping calculator. However, after that size, things go all to hell in a hand basket. Entered on the UPS shipping calculator a bike box and its weight. According to the dimensions and weight, it should have been $82.40 to ship my bike from Phoenix to Kansas. However, the kid at the register quotes me $155. I make him remeasure, and his numbers were almost 15" off, which really does affect the price of shipping. He tries to play it off, telling me that if he'd gotten it right it would only save me $3. I grabbed my box, drove to the USPS up the street, and shipped the bike for $80 flat to my guy in Kansas. I get that businesses are in business to make money, but this is some bullshit price gouging. If you're shipping a big parcel, avoid this place. read more

I've been a regular customer for about one year now. I've come to learn that the owner is the main issue. When he's at the store (not always) he seems to be put off by providing assistance to any customers. He doesn't seem to know how to use all of the store's equipment. I never thought I'd see the day I'd actually log on here to make a bad review.. I never thought I'd waste my time. I was using a link sent via email to track a package coming to my home and unfortunately missed the delivery. When I called the UPS location the website said it was going to be dropped off, the person who I spoke with said it would be available the next business day. No mention of time or anything like that. When I showed up a worker was in the office and came out and looked disinterested. Maybe it was because I was there right when it opened? When I gave him my address he told me he didn't have anything for me. I explained to him I called and talked to someone who had told me to come pick it up at this location. He laughed and told me that I didn't call this location. I pulled out my phone and hit redial and his store phone started to ring.. he started cussing at me telling me I need to learn how to "f&$king read," called me a "piece of sh*t" for some reason, presumably because I embarrassed him and proved him wrong right in front of him. He wouldn't give me a name of a manager or someone to talk to and threatened to call the police to have me arrested for harassment when I tried to get that Information from him. If he's not the manager, based on other reviews I read about this location, his manager doesn't care about this type of customer service. I have no say on which ups access point my package goes to or I'd choose a different one, hands down. If your package is being delivered here, you're screwed.. I needed something notarized and so I setup an online appointment with the notary of this ups location. I only had 30 minutes on my lunch, so I thought this would be convenient: it's 2 minutes from my office and I had an appointment confirmed. I called to let them know I might be a few minutes late, to which they said that would be fine. When I got there, I was told the notary had been texted but was not in the store. The associates had no estimate as to when he would be in and suggested I go a different ups location, which I didn't have time for. I didn't appreciate that my appointment wasn't acknowledged, nor was I told when I called ahead that the notary wouldn't be there. I don't know why this place has such bad reviews. Every time I go here the employees are very friendly and helpful. Alberto always goes above and beyond to get things done in a timely matter. He helped design my business cards and I could not be happier with the results. They look amazing. I have spent some time in this store waiting for help and it's part of going to a busy store. I've never seen anyone get poor service. I've seen these employees get treated like crap and it really is a thankless job. Follow the golden rule and you should be ok. I've been here multiple times throughout the year including christmas time and I've never had to wait! I love that I am in and out & staff is always friendly. Only thing is that they charge to use their tape if you have a package that needs to be closed, which seems a bit extreme. Overall they are quite efficient and friendly. From the moment you walk in customer service is rude and unprofessional, and the manager encourages this behavior. Amazon contracts with UPS for return services, and when amazon provides return labels the UPS is required to accept them. Not yell, intimidate and threaten calm and polite customers because the dared to ask why this particular store was refusing to accept amazon returns and why they were being asked to pay for new labels and packaging instead of using the UPS labels and boxes already provided by amazon (as is the requirement). Every time I've come to this UPS store to save a commute to the one on 44 st I regret it. The staff here never seem to know how to efficiently or correctly send Amazon packages which is stunning considering that Amazon has been on of UPS's largest clients over the last decade. In trying to ship two simple books I was told that the price would be over $35 dollars (almost double what the books were purchased for.) On top of this I was sent back and forth between this location and UPS twice rather than being told accurate, helpful, or intelligent information the first time. This is the absolute worst place to go for anything. The owner is aggressive and very rude to his customers. Once he had your money he simple doesn't care about costumer service. We was outside when he got very aggressive and starting yelling at me next to my car. He was acting like he wanted to throw a punch. I'm there at least three times a week to drop off and pick up packages. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Rarely have I had to wait in line. The only downside is somewhat limited parking, but it's never been more than a mild inconvenience. I'm surprised by all the negative reviews, some of which (as always) are rather entertaining. "They charged a dollar to tape my box! Thieves!" Sounds like a small price to pay to ensure that your package arrives safely at the destination. Would you rather they just "let it slide" and allow the contents of your box to slide right out as well? These days, it seems like poor customer service (or a complete lack thereof) is the norm. I'm happy to report that this UPS Store is one place where I always feel welcome and valued--a rare phenomenon indeed. read more

Very poor customer service. Have been there 3 times in last few months and the same woman who I think is manager. she said some guy named John is owner. She is always rude never says hi, never has smile on, and just looks at you when you come in with blank stare. I came in to return package that needed very small amount of tape and I asked her if I could use some tape and she said it would cost me extra $1.10 for small amount of tape for top of box. Was not greeted or assisted when I came in. The place is disorderly and dirty looking. Finally when I figured things out on my own I waited for the ladies to finish their conversation about whatever trivial weekend blunder they were talking about. Kimberly was the raised eyebrow, gum chewing teller indifferent to the clients needs. She input the information from my sheet, and tried to tell me that if the recipient is not there upon first delivery, UPS sends it back to the sender and that I should get additional services added. I'm no shipping pro but obviously they take it back to the nearest UPS store and leave a note at the door. I then said that I was ok without extra services and said "I don't care how it gets there as long as it actually gets there" in a friendly way. She then half rolled her eyes and smirked and said "I don't care either" in a smart a** way. Her smart attitude was a turn off considering I'm usually patient with lazy service people. All In all I do not recommend this store I don't feel trustful or secure in sending my important document with them, I'm afraid it could get lost now- I checked the status I my shipment using the tracking number and it says its not available. I had a terrible experience here today which is unfortunate because I have ALWAYS gotten tremendous service at this location, especially when the manager Ted is there. I use an online bank so in order to deposit checks, I must go to specific UPS Store locations that can process deposits through their system. This was my go to spot. Today, however, I waited patiently for several minutes while the woman behind the counter assisted another customer. I had my checks and my check card out and ready to go. After several minutes, she glanced over and shook her head "No, we can't deposit checks. Our system is down." I asked when they stopped deposits and she replied, "No, we still do it but our system is down and we don't know when it will be back up. Go to AZ Federal - they will usually take the checks." I asked where the nearest AZ Federal branch was to which she replied rather rudely "I don't know. You'll have to look it up." There was NO apology, no offer to help me find an alternative location. Just straight up attitude. At this point, I was really exasperated and let out a particularly angry sigh and stormed out. The woman called out after me "I'm sorry but WE'RE not the bank, sweetie!" So damn condescending. Let me point out a few things: I fully understand that systems can go down because technology is not always 100% reliable. These things happen. However, there was no sign posted to announce this information. Second, if the location is temporarily unable to provide service, there is no question that they should be able to tell you where you CAN go to get service. Responding to a request for help with "look it up yourself" if pretty damn inexcusable. I will be informing my bank of this incident and I will not be returning to this location for either my banking OR shipping needs. read more

All I wanted was 2 heavy-duty plastic shipping envelopes to return a purchase to Groupon. John at the UPS Store said he did not have those and went in the back room to get 2 boxes. He taped the boxes together grabbed my packages and sealed them in each box. Then he took my postage-paid labels and affixed them to each box without a word. He took a minute to ring them in and charged me $18 + change. I was confused and dumbfounded. Admittedly, like an idiot I just paid it. As I started to leave, I felt taken advantage of. I stared at the receipt and turned around. I asked if I could have my packages and get my money back. He said no. I asked why and he said it would ruin the boxes to take them apart. I told him I could take them out without ruining the boxes. He again denied me my refund and packages. At this point I was very agitated. I said in a loud voice, "So you are charging me $18 for 2 boxes and denying my request for return?" I wanted everyone there to hear. He responded as loud as I was by asking me to leave. I repeated my question. He demanded that I leave. I asked for his business card and he said he didn't have one. I told him I would take the information off the receipt and report him to his franchise operations. I left and sat I'm my car for a few minutes because I was so disturbed. I then realized that he had my address, and may very well not mail my packages. I went back in to the store and asked for my boxes. He refused to give them to me. He said he was going to call the police if I didn't leave. I asked him to look me in the eye and tell me he would mail my packages, twice. He again threatened to call the police. I left feeling violated and extremely disturbed. I was almost in tears. I should have called the police myself. So, in conclusion, if you are a masochist and enjoy being overcharged and emotionally violated than go ahead and patronize the UPS Store on Highland next to Frys. This is the exact opposite of customer service. Otherwise, there is a post office around the corner just off Camelback on 21st St. Best of luck to all other mailers out there! read more

I was having trouble printing some documents and all he kept on saying to me was "well it's your fault you're, the one that's not doing it right". Stopped in to drop off an Amazon return. I had a prepaid label and box, but the box was opened. At another UPS Store, they always tape it up for me at no cost. Not here. They charge a $1 handling and taping fee for all prepaid packages. I thought the guy was joking until he asked me if I had read the sign. He pointed to a partially blocked sign, attached to a register around the counter from where I was. If I wasn't so limited on time, I would have taken my package elsewhere. BUT package not delivered by 10:30 am Monday 8/1 because the UPS driver did not pick up from this facility Saturday and employee did not take to UPS center/airport. Apologies, refund scheduled, package picked up Monday for Tuesday delivery before 10:30 am. BUT package still not delivered at 3:57 pm 8/2, arrived Ft. Worth BUT now UPS cannot locate package. I wish I would of looked at the reviews before I stopped at this location. I had a prepaid return label on a box going back to Amazon. I thought it was a UPS label but it was USPS. When I walked into this UPS store, they told me it was for the Post Office however, they have post office pick up everyday. Jax told me they take packages all the time for the post office and it was ok to leave it with them. Well, its NOT! Three days later and the post office still does not have the package in their system. I took a photo of the tracking label and have checked everyday on the tracking system with no luck. I called the UPS store and although Jax was trying to be helpful, the manager ultimately told me they are NOT RESPONSIBLE for those packages. In others words, they probably steal the packages. After reading all these other reviews, that is what I can come up with. Now I am out $100 on a return. Avoid! read more
