Beware--this place is a bad joke. They charged extra for something that wasn't printed out. Upon showing the employee who made the mistake, he apologized and said he'd give a refund. Little did I realize that he didn't actually know how to make a refund and ended up charging the same amount again (found out in a future credit statement). I called to get a refund, and the person put me on hold for 5 minutes, then he said he had to turn on the computer (took 10 more minutes). Waited 5 more minutes. He said "I am almost halfway done. I'm learning how to give refunds." then put me back on hold. I overhear a sudden "oops!" He said he made a mistake, but eventually credited the right amount. He said I could pick up the receipt in person, but I asked him to email it to me. With a heavy sigh, he said that it'll show up on my credit statement later and refused to send me an email. If you are a business they force to purchase a medium size mailbox - I'm opening a business that does not require receiving any mail, but I don't want to put my home address to file my LLC... I do not need a medium mailbox, but this place would not give me a small mailbox, they said if it was for my business I would have to get a medium mailbox. I took my business to Postal Chase on Cole (1 mile down from this place), they do not require you to get a medium mailbox if you are a business... you can get a small mailbox which is half the price of what this UPS store was trying to charge me. This UPS location's mailbox setup fee is also higher than Postal Chase on Cole. Highly recommend going to Postal Chase instead of here if you are opening a mailbox for a business... This is my go-to UPS store even though I don't live in the Sunset anymore! It's worth it to me to get excellent service when I am shipping art across the country. I have never had anything but the best service and great effort to help me with timelines and budget. I really wish I could give this place MINUS stars right now. I have literally been there twice trying to return two pairs of shoes to Amazon. I've never had an issue before - drop off an unwrapped book, no big deal, just hand over the return print out and they made it happen. Today, I was sent away because the two shoe boxes were not boxed. Then I came back (with shoes in the boxes they came in) and was sent away because they needed to be in just 1 box. Seriously absolutely no attempt to fix it, help out or otherwise be a good customer service experience. My main experience here has been setting up a private mail box during shelter in place and so far it's been great. They email when packages arrive and the staff works efficiently and are friendly. The prices are comparable to PO Boxes prices. read more

**AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COST** I've visited this location at least a dozen times and each time has been incredibly frustrating. I've had the unfortunate luck of dealing with the same employee at every visit: Asian man with glasses who speaks with a flamboyant tone. He appears to be the only employee at this location as I've yet to see anyone else behind the counter. I kid you not, he is seriously the 'TSA' of UPS! When you go to mail something, he will ask you each and every time with this annoying flamboyant tone, 'What's inside the package?'. If he has a chance to, he'll look inside and inspect the contents if it's not yet taped up. I could not believe my eyes. Talk about an invasion of privacy! I've gone to countless UPS Store locations and have never had to go through this type of interrogation. On top of that, he works with no sense of urgency. Plan at least 20-30 minutes at this location. My visit today confirmed this will be my LAST. I will go out of my way to avoid this location like the plague. I was sending in a small bubble envelope a trigger spring. The employee I described above refused to accept my package that already had a UPS return label attached. He said he cannot accept any firearm parts. I'm not sending ammunition here. I'm sending a micro-sized spring less that is an inch long and weighs less than an ounce. So let me get this straight, you will gladly accept a package containing a knife but you will not accept a harmless spring? This guy is a complete joke. The employees at this store are nosey and always want to know what's in your packages. I get that they need to know if it's hazardous, or if it's a controlled substance, or if it's expensive, but that's not what they ask. They ask point blank, "WHAT'S IN IT?'" And if you don't give an exact answer they'll ask the same thing AGAIN. Well guess what: I'm never going to answer that question, BECAUSE IT'S NONE OF THEIR FUCKING BUSINESS. This store has a management problem. Do yourself a favor and take your business someplace else. EDIT in response to the comment from the owner below: if that's all you need, then why don't you just instruct your employees to ask those specific questions--which no reasonable person would mind answering--instead of repeatedly pestering every customer with the much more invasive question "WHAT'S IN IT?" Take a hint from all the negative reviews on this page. A broad swath of customers who frequent your store perceive your employees' behavior as invasive, unnecessary, and inconsistent with the more reasonable behavior of UPS team members at other locations. Moreover, there is an obvious solution to the predicament of your store's poor reviews which, if implemented, would still allow your employees to glean from customers the information that they need to do their jobs. Came in to get my passport photo taken and they took the photo incorrectly. I now have to find a new place to get my photo taken and start the process all over again, hopefully I will have my passport back in time for a very important work trip. This is a major inconvenience and the store should educate their staff better especially regarding something that is time sensitive. read more

I used to wonder why this store gets such bad reviews... now I know. I had to return some RH chairs, and they told me to take it to any UPS store to handle the shipping. When I took it to this store, the guy there was incompetent and unhelpful. He complained that I took these big heavy chairs to the store at the end of the day. By the way, I took the chairs in 45 minutes before closing. Then, he said that he can't give me a shipping label for each piece, that he could only provide one label per order using RH's account and we would have to pay for the rest of the labels. Then he tried to call customer support and hung up after 2 seconds claiming they didn't pick up. I just don't think he wanted to deal with packing and shipping of four items, even though that is basically the point of a UPS store. I took the chairs to the Sloat store and they took care of everything for me in under 10 minutes. Do yourself a favor and only come here if you're dropping off prepaid packages, and always get a receipt. I wouldn't trust them to do any more than that. read more

I wasn't too happy with the service here. First, it was pretty slow. Second, I was conned into having them pack and insure my stuff for an additional $35 bucks. I was delivering an SLR to a friend, and thought I packed it pretty well with wads of crumpled newspaper. But the guy behind the counter said that they wouldn't insure any damage with paper packing. Plus I had to pay a little extra for the box to pack it in. Although he packed it nicely, I'm pretty sure I could have done it myself with the proper materials for a third of the cost. BE CAREFUL!!! These guys, the store manager specifically - middle age asian guy, are EXTREMELY scuzzy! I went here to ship a package and the price I was told seemed far higher than the what a box of that size typically cost to ship from my normal USP store. After several minutes of haggling with the manager for an explanation I found out that they had "over estimated" the boxes actual dimensions. Not by just and inch or two in all directions but buy multiple inches in all directions. When I pointed out that this was wrong the manager rekeyed the accurate dimensions. The exaggeration was so extreme that the difference in price was nearly double what it should have been! The managers response was "This is how we ship all of our packages and no one has ever questioned me about this before". I can only imagine how many tens of thousands of dollars this USP store has stolen from innocent people. No lines are necessary at this location. Regular customers, those of specific ethnicity, or age, are preferred customers here. They do not need to wait in line for service. If you are a jerk, simply walk up the side counter, OR just get in front of everyone standing in line. You will be assisted with courtesy by their staff. I live in the neighborhood, used this store for a number of years, and have witnessed this type of behavior for the last time. I'll pay the UPS pick-up fee. This place is worthless. Don't get you passport photos taken here - you will waste your money. They have a crappy digital camera and instant printer set up and simply CANNOT take a decent photo. The photos I took here were rejected due to a shadow along the left side of my head. I went back to retake the photos and was refused and told that they could simply not take a photo without a shadow on it. Note that I wasn't asking for a refund or anything here... The older Asian lady, who I presume is the owner of this store, is extremely rude. I came in to quickly print out copies from a USB. Without offering for assistance, I went ahead and began printing using 1 out of the 2 copy machines that worked. After I had already printed out my stuff, she ran towards me telling me, "this is not allowed." She seemed very incompetent with working the machine. Then she took my USB and went to the back of the store only to find out that I did exactly what was supposed to be done. She also kept rushing me, telling me that the store was closing when in actuality, it closed in another hour. She could of handled the situation in a proper and professional manner. I only use the USPS when I need something only they can provide (which is rare). Due to many delivery issues using our federal postal system, if something HAS to be somewhere on a certain date I use UPS for ease of mind. The employees in this store are incredibly friendly. As the gentleman was ringing him up and greeted many customers checking their PO boxes by name. You can tell he puts a lot of effort into where he works. I got excellent service and mailed off my package. It wasn't quite smooth sailing, but not this store's fault. I accidently had the wrong address, making the package undeliverable. I called the UPS 800 number 3 times and no one seemed to be able to help me change the address. They said a note would go to the recipient on where they could pick it up. Now how can they send a note if the address is wrong? It makes NO sense. They told me my local UPS store could help me, call them. So I did. Well, my poor UPS store couldn't help me, the package had already left their store, but since Main UPS was being completely unhelpful she called them on my behalf to find out what was going on and how to fix the situation. The package eventually got the correct address and was delivered. Now I'm torn between using UPS. The local store was great, but the company on a whole really failed me. I'll probably give them one more shot, mainly since this UPS store really has some great customer service. But if Poppa UPS fails again, I go Fedex! read more

Having been an avid Amazon Prime user for quite some time, I sometimes run into mishaps during the shipment process (ie, poorly packaged items, defective items, etc) and find it necessary to return these items to Amazon. This is one of the only UPS stores around my area that will ship a UPS item free with the proper labels. Other "authorized UPS" stores will charge anywhere from $1-$5 for this service alone when it takes them less than a minute to accept it and print out a receipt. Never had an issue with the clerks here and they've always been courteous even when it's extremely busy. They get my vote for being the only UPS store I'll be using!! read more

Service is what it is, but this UPS overcharges you for the smallest thing. I had a pre-paid Amazon shipping label which should have only cost me the box but, 1. It cost $1.10 to print out a shipping label. Another UPS has charged me 20 cents. 2. It cost me about $4 for them to TAPE my box when I've had it done for free at another UPS. 3. The box cost $5 instead of $3. If this is your only option for UPS go ahead, but there are better locations. read more

I just opened a box here last month. I've been here 4-5 times so far to ship something and they have always been very helpful and polite. A few times, there was only one person working and there was a little bit of a rush so we had to wait 5 minutes but that's not a big deal to me. I've been going to this location, previously a Mailboxes Etc, for more than a decade now for shipping and mailbox services. Staff, longtime and new, as well as ownership have always been a pleasure to deal with, helpful, and professional. Whether I'm dropping off a prepaid package (wife loves Zappos), shipping something that's fragile (they have specialty boxes for things like notebook PCs), or just checking my mailbox, I am always greeted and assisted with a smile. Quick tip: Weekday afternoons can get very busy here so if you can time your visit for the morning (8:30-11AM) or the very end of the day (5:45-6:30PM) you are much more likely to be in and out in a snap. read more

There hasn't been one day that I've come by this location just to do a pre-paid scanned drop-off of 10 seconds, and it takes you 1.5 hours in line because they don't have a drop-off box. And what's worse is they decide to take a lunch break at 11am-1pm during peak hours when everybody else needs to get their shipments out. Good luck shipping anything here! They simply get out a laminated manual and tell you how many times you have to bubble wrap it and how many peanuts you have to put inside. When I walk into a UPS or shipping store, I don't want policies-- to be quite honest- that's your job and why I'm paying for the service. I also don't think paying $25 to simply pack something when you buy the bubble wrap, peanuts and box in bulk is at all reasonable. Maybe if you're shipping something across the country or internationally, but not for a package that is going downtown. I don't care for institutions that don't offer personalized customer service and merely get out a manual for you to review. Nope. I can go to a government agency if that's what I want (aka the US postal service). Ugh...where to start... 1. The people who work here are rude and incompetent. After receiving a UPS door tag that said a package was here, I went to pick it up. They said they didn't have it. I said, well maybe its under my husbands name (slip didn't list a name). When they finally found it (after saying they only got four packages that day) they said they couldn't release it to me because it was my husband's. Then they decided to consult with their "protocol binder" to see what to do. 2. Despite being a UPS store and Access point, they only accept a limited number of packages and only small ones at that. They rejected one of my packages once (?) and it ended up getting lost because UPS never told me it was delivered. 3. They complained about one of my packages and tried to make me pay a fee to use them as a delivery point. UPS has generally been a clusterf*ck to deal with, but I try to avoid this place like above all others. read more

I think the confusion with the quality of service stems from the person that's helping you. The Asian man mentioned in many of these negative posts just gave me the worst UPS service experience I have ever had. I send packages through UPS all the time but I will never go back to this location. He demanded I tell him exactly what was in the package and when I told him that was none of his business,he brought over the hazardous material sign and with attitude, told me that in fact he would not ship my package unless I told him exactly what was being shipped. I told him there was no hazardous material or anything else listed on his sheet, just like I do with any other UPS or postal office shipment. During this interaction he was very rude and certainly didn't provide any quality service. If you have to go to this location I would suggest speaking to someone else other than him. read more

I attempted to have a packaged returned to an online retailer via UPS. I was rapidly given a shipping label and a scheduled pickup for a window between 9 and 12 AM. I waited till noon, at which point still had not received a pickup. Calling UPS customer service, I learned that an "attempt" had been made to pick up the package. I told the representative that I had not received any attempt, and she rescheduled me for another pickup, with a followup call to come within an hour. After an hour, there was no phone call, and I had to call customer service again. At this point, the representative noted the local office claimed that my phone number was non-functional, and that pickup would be sometime before 5PM. I think that this is ridiculous in terms of customer service to a.) claim to have made a pickup attempt when no clear attempt was made, and b.) claim my phone is non-functional when I could call them. In addition, when the package was originally shipped via UPS, the box received many dents and tears, despite signs indicating it was fragile. read more
