I lived a block away from these guys for a while. If I was too lazy to schlep my butt down to the post office about 3 blocks away, or if I needed something faxed, I went to this store. Their fax services are expensive, and I've never used their UPS/ FedEx except to drop off a pre-paid envelope or two. I felt that the staff were always pleasant, courteous and nice. Today I went into this UPS Store to send a package that had a pre paid label. The young woman behind the counter said they couldn't do that. She told me I would have to give it to the driver of their truck directly. I told her I have done business with this company for years and have always used their pre paid label and never had a problem with UPS. I will NEVER go into this store again. There was also a young man working there and all he did was snicker and did nothing to try and help. I was near another UPS store in San Carlos so I went in and had no problem. I. Satisfied customer here! I had to return some things that I bought on line. The boxes were nicely sealed and labeled already, so it was a breeze. I was greeted promptly as soon as I entered at 9AM. Parking was available in front of the store too! I paid about $13 bucks for each of the 7 lb boxes. They were shipped UPS Ground. Reading the reviews on yelp I was a bit hesitant to come here to ship them, but I was totally wrong. Maybe because the girl was MIA when I came haha. So instead of driving I decided to have the speakers packed and shipped by UPS. - Arnie at the UPS store handled the packing and did a fantastic 5 star job packing them. He is awesome. OMG! I just paid my mail box rental and its gone up 30% in the last year. I usually pay every 6 months and over that last two years the box rental has consistently gone up every 6 month payment and right now is averaging 30% increase a year! Nice work if you can get it! Honestly, if you depend on the box for your business, you're trapped into this and for sure a 30% increase is way, way greater than inflation, tax, and even apartment rent increases. The guys that work there are not the owner, who is doing this, and it's only because they are friendly that I don't give zero stars. ...My Reply: 16% increase? Mine increased 27.9%. Something isn't right here. You can check the records yourself. A year ago I paid $156 for 6 months. Six months I paid $168, and two days ago I paid $198 for 6 months. In other words one year ago I paid $156 and one year later I'm paying $198. Do the math! That's a $42 difference over one year. Calculating the percentage 42/156= .279, or 27.9% increase. Its a no brainer. That's what you need to explain and what I want to know is whether you are going to continue the rental increases at that rate or are they going to drop back to a reasonable rate. Well?? Lastly, I would like to point out that your customers are not the source of your woes. You have a city government that is behind oppressive policies that are destroying this city in the name of "help". That is your real target! My parents owned a house in the Sunset since 1949 and I grew up here starting in 1951 and I can tell you that the policies of this city in the last 15 years have been the most devastating I've seen in all that time. The end product of this cities actions will be only one thing in the end, a few very wealthy living here with anyone else unfortunate enough to stay here, living on the street. That's exactly what you are passing on to your customers. You are being the implement of this city governments oppress policies. So really, don't expect much sympathy from me because your rent is going up. I am new at 'yelping' but I had to force myself to write a review since I did have an amazing experience last Monday. I am a type of person who complains if the service is unsatisfactory, and writes on comment cards if the service is outstanding. I have to say that I was impressed with the service delivered by one of the staff in the UPS store located in Irving. I am not very good in getting people's names but I remember that this person was Asian (maybe Viet or Filipino), and he was wearing glasses. I had to send a gift to a friend who lives in New York. I was planning to send my assistant to do this task but since I was in the area and I saw the UPS store, I decided to do it myself. From the moment I walked in, I was pretty nervous and didn't know what to do but I was greeted with a sincere smile and I was told to wait since there was a long line of people ahead of me. I always appreciate it whenever my presence is acknowledged. After a few minutes, this Asian attendant greeted me again with a smile and asked me what I needed. I was anxious at this time to find out what to do, how to send, and how to box my gift. There was still a long line of people but he answered my questions and assisted me as if I was the only customer there. He was attentive, sincere, professional, and really went above and beyond his line of work by making me feel less anxious. These days, it is very rare to get this kind of service anymore. People are rushed all the time, and stores have financial goals to achieve. It takes one person, an outstanding service, and a simple smile to make someone's day. I go to a lot of UPS stores. This one charges $1 for taping (even if paying for other packages to be sent), and to print an Amazon label you have to pay $2 for the computer plus cost of printing. UPS stores vary tremendously with the amount they charge for little services and this is definitely one that nickel and dimes you. Additionally in most stores to send independent packages, you fill out on the package and then they type in. Here you fill out info on package, they ask for another form filled out, and then they add it to the computer. A small thing but between this and the extra form after you fill out, it exhibits more of their regard - or lack thereof - for customers. A perfectly serviceable ups store, but I'd recommend you go to another Also: this is a very very slow store. I've been lagging on returning my wireless Kramer guitar controller because it sucks ass, so I finally was able to do it today. I'm a dumbass and got rid of the original packing box that the guitar controller came in, so I required a packing box to ship this thing back to Red Octane in Sunnyvale. I had to get shipping insurance and tracking, so I figured I should just skip the USPS location and go straight to The UPS Store. There was a line of people waiting to get their documents notarized, and there was a shorter line of a person dealing with the UPS guy about shipping her shit. I finally was able to get in and asked the dude if they had a box big enough for my guitar controller. He pulled out his measuring tape and said "yes, I may have a box big enough for you." I asked, "How mats is the box?" He replied, "It's $6.82. And if I have to pack it, it's $6" Damn, I thought. That's hella money for a box and for packing when I can do that shit myself. But whatever, I have to get this guitar controller replaced. "How mats for packing and shipping everything?" "about $26." DAYAMMN, that's hella esfensive to return this damn guitar controller. But whatever, I haven't been able to play 2-player Guitar Hero 1/2/80s/3 so I gotta get this done. But... let me haggle for a bit. "Well, may I just buy the box and pack it myself?" The clerk responded, "You can do that, but if I do it for you, I can pack it real good... " Wow, he said he can pack it real good. I thought for a moment, then he interrupted my though--- "and for insurance and safety purposes, it's better if I pack it." Man! fine, I conceded and let the man pack my shit for me. He then asked, "What's in the box?" I responded, "A guitar controller." "You should just get a real guitar, it's more fun! and you can sing along while you play," quipped the UPS man. I wasn't sure why I didn't tell him not to judge me and go on a tirade about how Guitar Hero is the GREATEST VIDEO GAME EVER CREATED THAT I HAPPEN TO BE HELLA GOOD AT (or until the release of Rock Band), but I think I was just resigned to get the fuck outta there as fast as possible so I mumbled under my breath, "it's a fun game too." whatever. I didn't want to get into a debate and I didn't want to waste my breath and blood pressure on this issue. Then I saw a wall of keys in the back, and asked, "Oh, you guys do key duplication too?" He said, "oh yeah, how many do you need?" Politely, I replied,"two sets please!" Dude came back with one set, and I told him that I actually said I wanted two. He started talking to himself or the other clerks in Tagalog: "ahh binge ako.. bingi" (translation: ahh I'm deaf. deaf.). Alright.... I dunno if he's trying to drop hints to me that he's Pinoy as an icebreaker so we'd talk about where our relatives in the Philippines are from, and when we both came here in the States, etc... Overall, this place is a good stop for your notary, key duplication, copy, and packing needs.... But really, I wish I could've just packed my shit myself to save $6. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would... this place is a joke, don't come here for any printing needs! After switching there system to manual print they charge by minute to use there computer and expect you to understand there printer operating system. They get fussy if you ask them questions and take there time on your dime to help you out. I also got charged an extra 20 dollars for no reason and had to go back to resolve it. Not convenient. If you live in the neighborhood go somewhere else, it will save you time in the long run. read more

My experience here today compelled me to Yelp. I've never yelped before. That's how bad it was. I went in to send a package, but first I needed a box. The woman handed me a tape measure and a list of the boxes they sold and basically said "go figure it out". Not that it's so hard to measure the dimensions of my item and pick out a box, but I sort of expected her to grab a couple boxes that might work. Whatever- I got over it. But then,.....after choosing the appropriate box size, I went to start packing my item up. Another woman who worked there came over and told me that I couldn't pack my item in the store and then pointed to a sign saying that they weren't a do-it-yourself type place. I guess my understanding of a UPS store was totally off becasue I thought that was the whole point. Anyway, I then moved all my stuff outside to the sidewalk and proceeded to package my item. I paid for my box, tape, and bubble wrap and walked out of there just confused. I know the two ladies behind the counter didn't make the policies, but still, they weren't very helpful in explaining them. I'm guessing the management has these assenine policies to motivate you to let them pack it for you so they can have their fee. I have had a mail box at this UPS store for about 8 years. They will check my box to let me know if I received mail if I call. If I tell them I am expecting something critical they will call me to let me know it arrived. They will accept items left for me by business associates and either put them in my box or, if too large, hold them behind the counter. I have items I purchase on line delivered here so that they are held safely behind the counter instead of being left on my porch. Their shipping policies are dictated by UPS so if you don't like them it is not the staff's fault. Personally, I prefer UPS service over other shippers. However, if there is a great discrepancy between the post office and UPS cost for what I need, they will tell me so that I may choose the alternative to save cost. However, they are so much easier and faster to deal with than the post office that I typically will pay even a higher cost if that turns out to be the case. Because I use them regularly, my address and particulars are available in their computer system, as well as that of any other address to which I have ever shipped. This allows speedy processing of necessary shipping forms. The staff has always been courteous and friendly to me, and goes the extra distance to provide convenient, quick and helpful assistance. They will improvise as best they can to meet your needs. January 2016 edit: THEY NO LONGER RECYCLE! They do not recycle since Gilbert Padua left. Now they "do not have room, try next month." After coming back for 4 months I concluded that the staff there would no longer make the effort. read more

I walked in to drop off a package and walked up to the clerk. I believe his name is Gil. He saw me carrying the package and simply pointed at the scale. No "hi", " hello", "welcome to UPS" or anything. He seemed to keep his words at a minimum (i.e. "receipt?"). There was another guy helping another lady at the time as we'll. He didn't very seem friendly either. On the upside, I was in and out of the store quick. This place seems OK , but don't expect a high level of customer service. I don't walk into a UPS store expecting to walk out with a new friend. I just expect a higher level of customer service from their associates. On my first day in San Francisco I walked here from my house to get an item notarized. I was told that the woman would be here in at noon (it was 11:50) so I waited. I waited until 12:30 and then asked where she was and was told she was on her way. I ask at 1pm and am told she is not coming. It is my first day in the city so I decided to walk here and will now have to walk back to my house and grab my car to go to a different business that notarizes because I might never use a ups store again. As a business owner who lives in the neighborhood, I used to frequent this business quite frequently. As the years passed and more and more business is done online, I stopped coming here as often. The last few times that I have gone to this location, it has been a very bad experience. First, the copier stops working if you take more than a few seconds between copies, so you have to ask the workers to reset the machine if you want to make multiple copies. Second, they only have one black and white copier. If someone is already using the copier, then you have to wait as long as it takes until he/she is done because the other copier is for color copies. Third, the people who work there are rude. They aren't helpful or courteous. They keep everything (stapler removers, pens, stapler, etc.) behind the counter, and they are annoyed when you ask to borrow something. If you need a notary,be sure to check to double check to see if she will actually be there. I have called a few times and told the notary was there only to arrive and find out the notary is not there. They also nickel and dime you for every little thing. I was sending a package back to Amazon, and I requested a little extra tape to make sure the package stayed closed. $1. I have gone to other UPS stores and Kinko's and received assistance for free. Do yourself a favor, go to another UPS store or drive to Kinko's at Sloat. read more

I went to this The UPS Store location for the first time at around 6:20PM on October 18, 2018 and met the worst unfriendly women ever. I visit other The UPS Store locations all the time to send pre-paid labeled UPS packages where I just hand them the package and they will hand a receipt with no questions asked. However, this time I was returning something back to Staples.com who also shipped the same package to me via UPS. The asian lady asks me what's inside the box and I had to explain to her for over 5 minutes that it is pens inside the box and she kept asking the same question over and over. I mean the package is going back to Staples.com in Stockton, CA and everyone knows who Staples is so it's not like I am shipping something that will explode or something and she even asks for my last name which was printed on the UPS Drop Off receipt which also is a first time experience. There was also a Fragile - Handle with Care label on the package and instead of her taking it off, she tells me to take it off and she was even getting on my case when there was 1/2 a grain of rice size of the label remaining which was just the bottom of the sticker with no text or color of any kind on it and what's worse, is they didn't have a trash can inside the customer side of the store and she wouldn't let me throw away the remains of the sticker so I had to find someone else's Recology SF/Sunset Scavenger Blue Recycle Bin outside on the street to dispose the sticker remains. Basically, extremely rude. Some people obviously doesn't know that the quality of service matters when getting business from myself and others in the future. This is in response to the comment left by The UPS Store location on October 23, 2018: I can understand that the UPS Store Corporate Office requiring all The UPS Store locations to ask for the contents of all packages dropped off as the problem was the poor attitude of the person asking for it since this question is asked at other shipping locations including The UPS Store, FedEx Office, UPS, United States Post Office but not in the same rude manner. No where did I state a simple answer of a return to Staples so that point is moot. I already stated multiple times that it was pens inside the box, how much more specific can one get? If she wanted more information, I would have actually told her the Quantity, make and model, ink type and even the point size of each pen. Unfortunately, don't assume to know what she asked as she never asked any of the questions you mentioned including: 1) Is there anything flammable? 2) Is it valued over $1000? 3) Any tobacco? So you are heavily mistaken in what you thought she had asked as you were not there to actually witness what was asked and it is bad to ASSUME as when you dissect the word in english, it is making a ASS out of U and ME. So unfortunately, she is heavily incompetent in doing her job and first needs to learn competent communications and what customer service is. You are right that the last name is on the receipt but it was the way she asked it as you don't say "Last Name?" in a rude way since it is all how you present yourself. You are also correct that past receipts from other The UPS Stores all don't show my name on the receipt either but I guess you can also look at that from two perspectives: 1) For The UPS Store and UPS - it makes it easier to identify the individual who is liable for dropping off and shipping the package so if anything goes wrong, it is easier to track down. 2) For the customer side, it can also cause privacy concerns. But regardless, it is the attitude that is the problem since if she cannot communicate in a friendly and competent way when it relates to business, the impression given is very important as you can defend her as much as your heart desires but it is hurting your business which is the bottom line at the end and determines whether you survive or not in the long term. read more
