He helped me with everything from box sizes to helping me fix my wrong shipping address. He is very patient, informative, and helpful. Just like another Yelper, I had a terrible experience with this UPS Store. According to the posted hours, this store opens at 8:30 A.M. I arrived at 10:00 A.M. and it was still closed! There was no notice posted stating "Be right back" or anything of that nature. I knocked on the glass door and no one came to open the door. I waited for a few minutes and a UPS truck pulled up with some deliveries for this store. The delivery driver had no luck reaching the store owners either, so he had to call their back-line to get someone to come out. After about 15 minutes, someone finally came out from the back. I went into the store and told Mr. Must-Have-Been-Napping that I needed a document notorized. He told me that the notary is not here, and that he will come in later, maybe at 11:30 A.M. 1 star off: No apology whatsoever for being Mr. Must-Have-Been-Napping. 1 star off: No apology whatsoever for Mr. M.I.A.-Notary. 1 star off: No apology whatsoever for lack of professionalism. 1 star off: 10:00 A.M. is way to early to be napping, at least for an adult. read more

When I can't make it to my usual UPS store downtown before lunchtime (because parking is too difficult downtown after lunch), I come to this UPS location. They are super friendly here!! Usually no line when I come. They almost always have a notary on staff. Parking is much easier here than downtown. I just drop my packages, they hand me a receipt and off I go! read more

Horrible location. Waited for them to open. First thing that happened is an a-hole cut in front of me as soon as they opened the gate.. even though I was first in line. Not the owners fault but they saw it and didn't say anything. I still handled it. Where they DO suck is I asked for a UPS label pouch for my label. They are free and have always been. UPS even will ship them to you free. I just didn't have one. I was told "just tape your label on the box". I said "so you do not have any pouches?". "yes we do but we do not give them out". This is probably the worst UPS service I experienced. Yelp really should reverse their lone star policy to a zero star. When the business fail to be recognized why should they be given any! I'm certain crappy disappointment had happened to others ... granting these losers one star is over generous. This is what happened, while I was away, a "missed you" notice was received. Somehow, I also received another UPS package at the same time. Without much thinking I thought the notice is also meant for that other package so I ignored the first receipt. With my previous UPS experience, if a package wasn't delivered they would send you a second and even a third notice before it gets kicked back. Somehow as the 10 day pick up waiting was about to end, a friend called and asked if it was received. I then realized it's a different package. On the 11th day, instead of calling I went to the Bovet store and try picking it up. The older Asian lady said because it wasn't picked up so they send it back. I then asked how come I didn't received the additional notices. She bluntly said "WE DON'T SEND ADDITIONAL NOTICES"!!! You don't send additional notices and now I'm screwed. Worst yet, she said it was already sent back. Among all the horrible services, she did one thing correct by giving me a 800# to track the whereabouts of my package. When calling the 800#, the man in the phone said my piece was still waiting to be pick up at the Bovet Store. That said, that lazy Asian lady did not even bother to check and monkeyed me back and forth. Knowing I won't be able to go back to Bovet the same day, I paid an extra fee for it to be deliver to a different address. Experience was horrible. If that Asian lady owns the business. She doesn't deserve to be a franchisee. If she is just a worker, she needs to be retrained!! At all cost, I will avoid that location once and for all! read more

Terrible - avoid at all costs (especially when there are old asian ladies behind the counter. I visited the store today to drop off some items for Amazon. The store was empty with 0 customers, and only 1 employee (older asian lady). When I approached her to drop the package off (we locked eyes so i thought she was acknowledging me - also theres nobody in the store), she started freaking out and saying the line is 20ft back. I explained to her, hey you met eyes with me, and im the only one in the store but i apologized and wanted to get my stuff done and over with. But nope. this lady continues to berate me with insults along with her condescending tone. She didn't even give me a receipt claiming that Amazon returns don't have receipts. Then she tossed my item in the back and told me to fuck off. Great customer service. Filed an official complaint with customerrelations@upsstore.com and will continue to file a complaint until someone reaches out to me or until this person is held accountable for their actions - whichever comes first. This is, by far, the worst-ever UPS Store. The worst service you will ever experience-- worse even than the Post Office! God forbid you go here when there is only one person working-- that is the worst! I have been here about seven times because my office is just over two blocks away, so it's very inconvenient to go anywhere else. Just to give you an idea of their level of service, on several prior occasions I have tried to update my address that is misspelled in their computer system, and I finally succeeded on the third try. So now my labels will show the correct name and address, unlike before. On this latest occasion, when I walked in the owner was arguing with a customer about printing a label for an Amazon return. The owner told the customer it would cost $3.25 to print the return label on the store's printer. The customer questioned this but then grudgingly accepted it. However, for the next ten minutes they were arguing over whether the customer properly emailed the label to the store's email address, with the owner raising her voice and being very unprofessional. Meanwhile, I was trying to ship two high quality model kits to a professional model builder, and the other staff person was acting like she didn't want to take my money. She initially questioned whether I understood the concept of shipping from her store when she said "you have to pay for the box, it's not an Amazon return." Yes, I am aware of the concept behind a retail shipping store! I also repeatedly told her I needed these fragile model kits CAREFULLY packed with either peanuts or bubble wrap, and she got the wrong sized box anyway. When the initial box was too small, she went back in a huff and got a new box, as if I were being unreasonable for wanting her to carefully and properly pack these $400 kits! By this time, the owner had abandoned the first customer in order to help her assistant select the right box for me, causing the first customer to complain that she was there first. At that point, there were about five people in line behind me, and the owner yelled at them to respect social distancing and wait outside so only three people were in the store at once. The person helping me quoted me $38 to pack the kits and said it in a way that made it seem like it was more than I could afford, which is hilarious because I certainly would have paid double that or more to have these valuable kits carefully packed. The joke is on her. I told her that was fine, and I gave her the address for the shipment, which was tough because the first customer and the owner were loudly arguing with each other. I now realize they never asked me for the value of the kits, so I am screwed if they get damaged in transit. Just a note: without judging anyone's national origin, the owner speaks poor English and she is difficult to understand, especially when angry. In addition to being repeatedly difficult to patronize, this is also the least professional shipping store I have ever been too. I almost walked out two or three times this time, but I wanted to get this done today. This location is somewhere I will refuse to return until there is an ownership change. For my shipping needs I will either go to FedEx Office or Postal Annex, both of which have much better service and where I have never been questioned about wanting to spend money there. read more

I understand not every store provide services but telling your customer "what you need to do is have more time and go to the post office" came off very rude. I am unsure if she meant to be rude, but it came off as very rude and off-putting to me. A simple sorry, we don't accept packages or do passport photos would have been fine. Came here to pick up a package after UPS was unable to get through the locked front door of my complex to drop it off. The gentleman at the desk was very friendly. Just a tip: if you are picking up a package addressed to someone else (in this case it was my boyfriend's name on the package), make sure to bring a print-out with confirmation that you live at the same address (like a lease, or a drivers license showing the same address). We had recently moved so I didn't have that, but he was very nice and made an exception so that I would nit have to make another trip and bring my boyfriend. The store is also located in a large complex with other stores so parking is not hard to find. read more

This will be a long review but important so bare with me: I'll start by saying that I work with seniors that during this pandemic have no other choice but to order online. I had convinced them myself that despite their concerns online returns are easy. I went to this store today with 3 Amazon boxes with 4 items on each, I didn't need a printing label since Amazon kindly sent me the code on email. But items were sort of mix up (seniors remember) . I assume since I got all the codes with me and from the same lady going to the same place in Amazon I I didn't need to pull out the items one by one. Anyways I get to the front desk, immediately I saw Alex [apparently the store manager] rolling his eyes at me asking to see the items one by one to scan the label. I apologize and explain that It was my first time returning several boxes/ at once, but that I would step aside so he help other customers that just got there while I figure it out. I tried my best to fix everything and even waited for everyone in line to finish so I could do my return. When I came back again to the front desk I told him in a very apologetic way that I'm sorry to be that annoying client (I wasn't but I just say it to break the tension) that's when he SCREAM at me to give him one item at the time. I ask him very calmly to not raise his voice at me, and he got off yelling, abusing me verbally that I couldn't even bother to read return instructions from Amazon. I never was disrespectful instead I ask him for his name and said that it was ok that I was gonna go to a different store He said his name was Alex and that he was the Store manager so deal with it I just left and as I was exciting out he kept insulting my lack of proper reading. I just looked back and said I cant believe you work in a store with that attitude and left. Based on the reviews on this page, is obvious I'm not the only one being mistreated from employees in this place. On my end, I was never rude or kept being annoying. If anything I spent a max of one minute at the counter, what could've I possibly done to annoy him or give him a reason to act like that towards a customer. Arriving right when the store opened, with no-one else in the store, I had to wait easily 20 minutes to ship my package. Their shipping software wasn't booting up, then the clerk had to call someone to figure out how to calculate the rates manually. I needed the tracking number, but he couldn't give it to me until the system booted up. I left my email address, and the clerk promised to email me the tracking number. Never arrived. I had to go *back* to the store the next day to get the tracking number! He mumbled something about having gotten the email wrong (I wrote it *twice* on the same piece of paper) ... but on the printout he gave me, there was my email address, correctly entered. This is more of UPS in general rather than the UPS Store, so my apologies to the employees of the store. UPS is one of the worst, if not the worst delivery service available. I changed all my preferences with all suppliers to send it anyway other than UPS. Yesterday I had no choice. HP was sending 3 replacement toner cartridges for my printer so I can finish a job. They sent it overnight priority so I could get it today before 10:30 AM. It is now 2:00 PM and no delivery! I called UPS and all they can say is sorry, but it will get there today. WTF? OVERNIGHT PRIORITY was paid for! "Well, the truck got a late start." Do I give a damn? Why pay for this service if you may not get it until 8PM. I am more than frustrated and pissed off. I would rather have it delivered via donkey and would probably get it sooner. What an embarrassment to business services! I truly hate this service! read more

Very happy customer here. Alex (asian guy someone else mentioned) helped me ship this big barbie mansion to someone in the Midwest. I talked to him on the phone and then brought in all the pieces into the store. He found a box and packed it up for me and let me know how much it would be. Buyer couldn't pay me until Monday but no problem because Alex said he would hold the item at the store for me. Monday is here and I received payment. I gave Alex a call and ALL done. Very smooth and easy transaction. Can they all be like this? read more

Location is convenient and there is usually plenty of parking. My issue is their pricing, I am not sure if each individual store adds an amount to the shipping cost but this place is outrageously expensive. Also, their computer (which is used by customers to print papers) is very very old and slow. It literally took 10 minutes to log in to my email. With the high costs here, they need to spend a few dollars and replace that thing or get it serviced. read more

I shipped a case of wine to a friend of mine in south Florida. While I had purchased a wine shipper from BevMo, the box needed some additional packing to ensure that the bottles would stay snug and not be broken. I brought my box to the San Mateo location listed above because it was close to work. Once I was inside the store I had a ten minute conversation with the manager about the packing. We all agreed that additional packing was needed along with the additional of a secondary box; (wine shipper would encapsulated inside a slightly larger box with additional packing). I paid what was asked. A week later when I tracked the shipment on line because my friend still had not received it, I discovered that every bottle was broken and of course discarded. $225 worth of wine lost. Upon speaking to the store manager; he could have cared less. It turns out he provided none of the additional packing that was discussed when I originally brought the box to him. His answer was I didn't charge you for the extra box. I never realized that the money I paid was for shipping only; I thought it was for everything. I would have paid whatever the cost was; it was never about the money. I just wanted my wine packed properly packed ensuring that the potential for breakage would be minimal. He clearly did not do any of what he said he would do. This UPS store along with UPS Store corporate absolved themselves of any responsibility; again because the product is classified as perishable. I am totally unclear, that if you are the manager of a packaging and shipping store, why you would send a box with 12 bottle of wine without the packing it properly. What's the point? The guy was an idiot with a stupid grin on his face indicating an "oh well sh*t happens" attitude's will be the last time I ever ship anything through the UPS Store system and certainly the last I ever go into this particular store. This was all about carelessness and not taking the time to do the right thing with pride in the services you provide as a local business in the community. This is yet another example of how a corporation provides the least amount of services for a lot of money. Careless disregard for other people's purchases and their cost. I would advocate a boycott of this location. Use the other one in downtown San Mateo. read more

I like coming to this location because the employees are very helpful and efficient when I need to ship things. There is also a copy machine and computer so it's a one stop shop if you need to print something from your email or make copies of important documents you need to send out. Place is clean and doesn't look like a storage unit. (I've been to other UPS locations where there's crap all over the floor for some reason.) Although, parking can be hard since it's in a plaza with other stores that people commonly go to. But it's better than street parking! read more

we've been coming here to ship ups packages forever. and i have always been satisfied with the service. BUT...yesterday i stopped in with a package and, i have to admit, i was in a cloud, preoccupied with other matters. i gave him the package along with my AAA card for the discount to the guy. he rang it up at $26. i said wow! he muttered something abt 2 days and i clearly told him there was no rush. he saw my AAA card and recalculated the fee to be $20+. before leaving, not even one minute had passed, and i purchased mailing container - he did not give me the AAA discount. afterwards, when my husband asked how much it cost to ship the package, and i told him, he said, something was wrong! it was then that i realized i let the guy ship the package with a 2-day delivery. normally, they ask how quickly do you want the package to arrive. this guy assumed i wanted it with a 2-day delivery. i admit, i should have been more alert, but this just goes to show, it's all about his business, not the customer. read more

Bring Tape! CLIFF NOTES: Threatened to charge me $1 to tape my shipment box closed the next time I show up with one open. I have patronized this store on many occasions, but lately the shop keeper had become increasingly petty. I brought a package in to ship with a shipping tag already, but I had left the box open in case there needed to be a visual inspection or something additional cushioning that may be needed. The store keeper informed me that people have been coming in without their boxes sealed shut, causing her to use her own tape. I explained my experience in shipping goods in the past have involved me needing to have the box opened in case the shipper wanted to inspect for drugs, bazookas, parakeets, or WMDs. I was also given a suggestion to buy a roll of tape if I wanted to avoid a $1 charge the next time I brought a box in to ship that needed tape. Really? You operate a packaging shipping and receiving storefront lady. Shipping tape is a general item required and used in your line of business. It's a cost of doing business. Are you going to charge me $.04 for using a paper clip or how about $.03 for each liner foot of ink used from your Bic pen laying there? A roll of tape costs about $5, yields about 165 liner feet. She wants to charge you $1 to seal a box, roughly using about a foot of tape. She wants to make $165 off her $5 roll of tape. I'll be taking my packages to ship elsewhere if this store is going to be so damn petty. read more

My family and I have been coming here for years and I am always nervous to see who is working as there is a older Asian lady who works here and she is downright rude. Every single time she has helped me she has some issue with me. I live 2 minuets from this store and unfortunately not very close to a post office. There is a nice Asian man who also works at this store and he is wonderful has always helped me. I don't mind being charged money to mail some of my USPS items here and often buy envelopes, boxes, parcel envelopes, and mail all my USP packages from here. I have been a loyal customer and although sometimes I may have some USPS items, one would think in efforts for good customer service the store would accommodate this( I mean by not they are turning away money and business). The Asian guy who works here has always helped me Mail any USPS items for a small fee and is super friendly and helpful, however this older Asian lady has always been rude about it and today flat out told me that her store changed the policy and will not mail any USPS items anymore. I tried to explain to her that I have mailed USPS items at this store for years, that I don't live close to a post office and that I just had my baby and it would really help me if I could quickly mail some items (willing to pay a small fee to do so) so that I could get back to my newborn at home with family. Needles to say I doubt they have a store policy about this and she simply did not want to have to help me. Bad customer service and this lady is always very rude and not very helpful. She always seems so put out to have to help anyone. My family and I will sadly no longer be utilizing this UPS Store and they will be losing some very loyal and longtime customers. From time to time, I have to send packages with prepaid shipping labels. Be sure you get a printed receipt after the package is scanned. A female store clerk told me on several occasions that it was not necessary (I guess she wanted to save paper and printing costs), but I still insisted on getting one. If something goes wrong with UPS's computer system, how are you going to prove that you had sent it? You have the right to get a receipt. Not only that, I use a camcorder to record my boxing process so that it may be useful in the event that the receiver claims shipping tempering, damage, or other discrepancies. Sometime last year I had to send two packages to two different receivers. Instead of weighing them separately, the clerk weighed them together. This meant that whoever paying the shipping cost for the prepaid labels were slapped with a higher cost because of the heavier weight. I asked the clerk why he did that, and all he said was "It doesn't matter". Although this did not affect me, it was not the right thing to do. And then there was a time I had to send a package just before closing time. I had called them and indicated that I was going to the store in a few minutes. I made it before the closing time, but the store was already closed. Overall, this is not a place that I enjoy going, only that I have to. read more
