It was a printer emergency. The printer had run out of ink and I needed to print over a hundred pages. My first thought was Office Depot because they have a huge selection of ink at a reasonable price. It was chance that there was only one two pack combo left of the ink I needed and the girl behind the register said they weren't getting anymore in until March. Fifteen minutes and $60 later, I was back on the road to completing my print job. Thanks for saving the day!! read more

All 4 staff members sat by the registers talking acting like I wasnt standing at the empty print counter for 5 minutes. This is probably one of my favorite stores to come to when buying appliances and material for my little business. Today is January 30, 2025. The time is 8:45 PM. The store was getting ready to close and cash and the other young lady who was working, the register were very welcoming and provided great customer service even though the store was getting ready to close. Went in to get some printing done and the lady working the printing counter took the time to discover errors in the document and point them out to us so that we could correct them before printing was done. Horrible experience at this location. I went in to purchase some laminated posters for my business. I've never placed an order of this kind so I asked for help. The lady assisting me was ok, she told me the basics and send me about my way to complete my own order. I tried to use my cellphone since I don't have any of my work equipment on me, but was having a hard time creating the design. I went ahead and used their desktop and completed it on my own. She was very short when assisting. When two other gentleman I assume regulars came in all of a sudden she was jolly and happy to assist them. As a customer I expect the same treatment for all consumers. As a business owner and some who's worked customer service for over a decade I know what it's like to provide to customers. She was happy to assist them perhaps it was the appearance or the lack of knowledge on how to order. Yet there is no excuse. Not only did I have a hard time but they also CANCELLED my order. It was supposed to be ready at 7pm the day I placed the order. I was going to pick up the next day and when I woke up and check my email they sent me a cancellation email at 12am! Saying my order was cancelled. Great just what I needed, when I called customer service to resolve the issue they stated that it was due to payment I told them I had placed the order instore and no option to pay online was provided so I was to pay at pick up. I had no problem providing payment to process the order only problem was they wanted to charge me more and it wouldn't be complete until 4-7pm! Worst experience ever. Complete lack of signage when you come off Industrial for curbside pickup. The sign on the front of the store that faces out is folded up enough that it completely obscures what it says. After I said I was there, a few moments later, I get a call and a snarky attitude because I'm parked in a parking space. I guess it's too much for this employee to have to walk all the way across to the parking spaces. So, I move my car to pick up my order. Order was pulled quickly and accurately, just signage stinks if you've never picked up there before, and the attitude made me sour. read more

I purchased a Serta office chair from Office Depot. Chair #1 had a broken base so I returned it. Chairs #2, #3, #4 all had more padding on the left side of the seat cushion than the right side so I could only sit at an angle. Chairs #2, #3,#4 were returned to the store. Then I sat in the Fennington floor model and liked it so I tried to purchase it. After waiting in line the store associate said they only had one black and one brown chair in the system so they couldn't sell me the chair. I told them the only floor model was brown so that means the black one is in stock. I don't care about color, so I will buy the one in stock. They refused to sell it and refused to order one for me online. I went home and ordered the Fennington from Amazon (which was $50 cheaper for the same model), but the local Office Depot delivered it because it is apparently made for them exclusively. I then assembled the chair. When I sat in it I found out that the gas lift did not lower the chair enough so that my feet dangled in the air. With the store model my feet were flat on the floor and I am average height. Either the star base had a hole that was too narrow so the gas lift could not get fully inserted, or the gas lift itself was not able to compress to the proper height. I contacted the phone number on the instruction booklet and it was Office Depot customer service. I asked them to send me a new gas lift and star base or set up a time with my local Office Depot to diagnose which part was the problem and give me the correct part. They refused and sent me to Corporate. Corporate also refused to send me the parts. They gave me a phone number for a third party seller where I could PAY FOR the defective parts. The third party told me they get lots of calls from Office Depot customers and O.D. doesn't honor their warranty. 5 chairs and all of them defective! Not to mention the 15 hours waiting in line, driving to and from the store, assembling and de-assembling their defective products. read more

Mask police. My mask not over my nose due to medical condition. Sales clerk who is masked and behind plastic shield ask me to pull my mask up, my hand are full, I tell her I'll get to it. She abruptly says I'm not gonna help you then and moved over to the unused register to help the next customer and completely ignored me as if I'm not even in the store - she's probably fully vaccinated too. Found another clerk in the store explain to him what was going on he profusely apologized for her rudeness and rang me up at the register right beside the rude, snobby, "clerk". read more

I came here during the Covid-19 shutdown and they wouldn't let customers in the store, they were open for online order pick-ups only. So I submitted my order from my phone in their parking lot and my order was ready in about 2 minutes. I was to first say that the San Carlos Office Depot isn't bad. On some occasions it felt understocked and the staff was generally helpful. I couldn't find a way to leave a review for Office Depot Corp. in general..if anyone knows a way I would love to move my review over there. With Covid-19, hand sanitizer is in short supply. Office Depot sent me an email that said they had it in stock and I could order it and pick it up at my local OD in 2-4 days. It never came in. I got an email that said it was backordered and if the backorder lasts too long my order would just be cancelled. This morning, I get another email advertisement stating they have hand sanitizer in stock yet my order is still on backorder. I feel that this is false advertisement. It gave me a false sense of security that my hand sanitizer was on the way when I should have been online securing it from another vendor. But all is well. Target has it stock and I happily bought my bottles from them. read more

I went in the store today to purchase some printer ink and a few items. Some young kid who's barely old enough to tie his shoe laces asked me to leave, and escorted me out of the store, for not wearing a face mask, even though masks are no longer required. I tried explaining to him that masks are no longer the law but he was dead set on being an enforcer. I've always tried to give this store my business so they don't get snipped by Amazon but, it's a wrap. It's so much easier for me to order stuff on Amazon and get it delivered the next day and not have to hear any lip from a kid who is barely employable. read more

(this threw me off) buys eco-friendly scotch tape (2.99) 600" x 3/4" -was considering buying replacement rolls only 4 roll of 300" (9.99) vs 2 dispensers of 600" (9.99) no savings, just bought one notes: -when paying, overheard cashier speaking on headphone: "yellow shirted man heading for...." as a patron entered the door. read more

It's encouraging to know that customer service is still alive and well. I've been shopping here frequently the past few weeks as we just started a new business in San Carlos. I frequently encounter a Manager who, when seeing me appear lost as I search for items on my list, will always politely ask how he can help. Today I was looking for an additional handset for our office phone and again, this manager approached to assist. We couldn't find the specific model in stock so he got online and found it on Office Depot's online store. As we went to place an order, the item came up as out of stock with no estimated availability. Rather than give up, he did a quick search and found it on a competitor's Site offering me the recommendation. I came to buy school supplies at this store for the 1st time as I usually go to the one in Palo Alto, but today had a very bad experience. The older gentleman that worked today 8/16/19 was ignoring me when I asked for help twice. I needed to get ear phones and they have a locked for safety, so I asked this gentleman if he could please help me and he told me 1 minute, I understood that he was helping another person with a printer, but then instead of going to help me he started charging someone at the cash register. Then I went to a lady that was working in the business station and i think she didn't hear me. So went back to the older gentleman that I asked help the 1st time and he again told me 1 minute while he helped the same guy with the printer that tries to take other stuff in his Dollie ( why didn't he buy a bag ). I am giving 3 stars and not 2 because at the end the guy that I asked for help helped me and apologized for my time. I have to post this to show all of you people that this store have new awesome managers that will make you 100% satisfy. I went here yesterday to office supplies that i need to open my first store. The assistant manager approached me and welcomed me as soon as i entered the store. How great is that? No one in san mateo county do such a good customer service than him. We found every single thing im looking for. Daniel also help me to clean my dog's pee. Daniel is a very nice guy. I ordered a printing service, and delivery was supposed to be free...until I finished checking out and suddenly there was a delivery fee of almost $10. We were trying to get some passport photos printed in Redwood City today. We went to the UPS store, CVS, RiteAid, Pak & Mail and for one reason or other just could not get the printing done. Minna (not sure of spelling) at Office Depot was very helpful and printed a whole sheet of photos for us. She said it would be expensive if she cut the pictures for us, but she very kindly showed us how to use the in-store paper cutter. That's true customer orientation!
