my husband and i have been living in Hopedale for three years now, and are still just discovering some of the local gems. UxLocale is absolutely one of them. we've dined here several times and have always been incredibly happy with our food, drinks, and service. this place is small enough that it feels very genuine, and that each customer is appreciated. we prefer to sit at the bar, but it is coveted seating, and definitely fills in fast. their pizzas are phenomenal, and we've also enjoyed their "tater crater" appetizers. everything (and i mean everything) is homemade. we're big fans of their marinara, which is served with the bread as a complimentary snack once you've ordered. my husband is a part of the mug club, which is a really fun and inclusive way to feel like you're a part of the restaurant. i find that everything is reasonably priced, especially considering their commitment to all things local (sometimes that can result in super pricey items- not so here). the restaurant is a little farther from our house than i'd like, so we're not here all the time, but it's a fantastic little spot with a great and interesting food scene. you definitely should give it a try. read more

This restaurant is the crown jewel in the Blackstone Valley restaurant diadem. Rather than taking the "local pizza joint" or "dive bar" routes (which are pretty crowded), or the "fine-upscale-pretend-you're-in-Boston" route (which doesn't have enough regular clientele to be sustainable), The Ux (as us locals call it) opted for a big homestyle feel without falling into the commercialized Cracker Barrel zone. Tables (and the bar) are made from local hardwood, and the veggies come from local farms. Whether walking in after a hot day at work or taking a SO on a dinner date, you won't be disappointed with the Uxlocale. The pizzas are their signature item, easily on par with anything in Boston and handily beating many of the surrounding pizza joints. But, you'll also find succulent scallops, sizzling steak and ice cream milkshakes at a place many would be glad to call home. So stop in and have a bite. What a hidden gem in Uxbridge! We received a gift card for UxLocale and could not wait to use it. We were not disappointed! The place has limited hours, but they are very good about communicating them on social media. We went on a Friday night and got there right for 5pm. There were about 5 parties ahead of us. We were happy to get the last 2 seats at the bar. We were quickly greeted by one of the bartenders and given menus as we sat down. I love the fact they have all local craft beers on tap plus a good selection in bottles. The second bartender welcomed us too, and the two worked very well together. I had the pepperoni pizza and my husband had the pasta and sausage with vodka sauce. The pizza was amazing! Fresh shredded mozzarella that melted so well and the pepperoni had a nice spicy taste. The pizza sauce had a nice flavor. My husband loved his meal, especially the freshly made pasta. He said it was loaded with sausage. The portions are huge and we both took some home. I love that they bring you bread with marinara sauce. I prefer dipping bread in sauce and have never had it that way in restaurants before. They do have the option of olive oil with spices too. Bread is freshly made (as is the pizza dough). All of the food is fresh and farm to table. They have nightly specials as well. I love the atmosphere of the restaurant too. They have a really nice outdoor seating area and indoors is open concept with plenty of table. They had heaters and firepits so many people were actually eating outside. Since moving to Maine 4 years ago, I hadn't had the opportunity to visit the UxLocale again until this past Friday. I'd seen photos of the addition of the outdoor patio seating with live music and was dying to experience that. It was wonderful! Our waitress was terrific and the music by Tequila Jim was very enjoyable. Chef Elaine's carbonara and green salad was out of this world! I have loved all of Elaine's food over the years but the way she has developed this restaurant in to a vibrant, lively venue is super impressive. if this restaurant was in Maine where I live, I'd go every weekend! Great spot for a night out! Food was phenomenal and staff was great. We ordered a couple of salads (antipasto and Caesar salad) along with the whipped feta and house made pita to start. Fresh and primo ingredients. Delicious. We then had a couple of their wood fired pizzas, which were also delicious. As we sat there listening to live music, we were already planning a return trip after we saw platters of lamb chops and great looking pasta dishes. Perfect summer night all around. Just got home from dinner. I was so looking forward to trying this place ever since I heard it was open. Last minute decision landed us here tonight. Seated right away and the dining room was 3/4 full. Had our drink orders filled and ordered the antipasto. You would think a $9 antipasto would be a good amount of meat & cheese. Not to keep you in suspense.... it didn't. There were slivers of meat & cheese. Ordered "The Harvest" pizza with macaroni & meatballs for our twins. We had to ask her what the kid items were. BTW: the waitress never offered us a kids menu. Our pizza was delivered but nothing for the kids. Sorry, but one cardinal rule of dining with kids is feed the kids first. We thought it would come momentarily. Our pizza was almost eaten and the waitress informed us that the order was ready. At this point, we are ready to go. Blamed the kitchen being backed up. They weren't that busy. Again, sorry that was a big lie. She either forgot to put in the order or forgot it in the window. Our pizza was ok. The crust was cooked well on top, but the bottom (especially towards the middle) seemed a tad undercooked. The balsamic reduction was sparing at best. Wouldn't have known it was part of the pizza if I didn't see it on the description. Guess I had too high expectations. Purposely waited to try this place after it's been up and running for a while to get the kinks out. Not an awful experience. Just don't wanna run back anytime soon. read more

I've always enjoyed UxLocale. They have great homemade food, that is always fresh prepared to order. I'd recommend ordering take out of their pizzas. They are excellent and unique to the area. When the carbonara is on the menu, make sure to get that. The chef spent time in Italy learning about the proper way to prepare it, and it is the only authentic carbonara I've enjoyed stateside. I give four stars because the food is good, but don't go to this restaurant if you're in a rush. This is a sit down and wait it out kind of place. I really wanted to like this place but the food was super bland. Everything we ordered could have benefited from even just a little more salt. To start, our waiter brought us the wrong appetizer. The carbonara was very watery, not creamy like you'd expect. It also came out lukewarm instead of hot. Pizza was decent, though honestly my husband makes better at home, and it didn't help my opinions at all when I found a 2 inch circumference of solid bone on my leftover pizza, which had no meat except for bacon. How does that happen??? Atmosphere wise, my advice would be to get some speakers in the dining room so the music that came on halfway through our dining experience (yes there was no music at first, all you could hear was the echo of other guests talking) could actually be heard in the dining room, and dim the lights... way too bright. Last night me and my boyfriend went here for dinner. I forget our waitresses name but she was an older taller women with blonde hair. I ordered the papas vitamin g carbonara which I encourage anyone to go look at their website to see what the dish is supposed to look like. I am putting a photo of what my dish ended up looking like. First of all, this is THE worst pasta dish I have ever had in my life. It was just drenched with oil and lemon juice with zero flavor and overcooked ziti which when I asked they said "sorry we ran out of every other pasta but we can upcharge you for fresh pasta." Which I thought was extremely disrespectful. I was in no way shape or form rude or demanding but she basically handed me this nasty pasta dish that didn't even equate to what was on the menu in terms of a description and then offered that I pay more money to receive it. A truly awesome place. I'm slightly obsessed with "the wild-card sampler board". The presentation was wonderful and picture-perfect. The combination of cheeses, fruit, nuts, honey, etc. worked so well together. The "funghi" pizza was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted so fresh. The atmosphere is cozy, rustic, and homelike with unique touches (like the bar, itself, which was beautifully done). The service is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Don't tell anybody this place ........this pizza compares to anything Boston, New York or providence can make . This restaurant is what the Blackstone valley needs, because soon everything will be 99 and chili's. I jokingly say don't tell anyone because I'm afraid they'll get too busy. I've been on several occasions so make reservations, especially on Friday or Saturday nights. We went on a Saturday night and listened to the lovely voice of soon to be famous Chloe Belsito sing and play the guitar. I loved the outdoor dining scenery and aesthetic of the indoor dining area. You can also bring dogs in the outdoor dining area. For appetizers we had the baked Brie (a special) and bacon crater taters. For our main courses we had the Tuscan chicken and 40 clove chicken (also a special). All the food was very fresh and local but I think everything would have benefited from a pinch of salt/more seasoning. We also enjoyed the variety in the beer menu. My BF loves red ale (which is hard to find) and was pleasantly surprised to find it on their menu. The staff was friendly and although they were short staffed they did a great job managing it. We will definitely come back to see what other seasonal offerings they have. Pro tip: get there early, they have limited seating and do not take reservations or have a waiting area. read more

The outside dining is a nice addition as this place can get busy. The beer selection isn't big but the choices are all very good craft beers. I came here a year or two ago and remember not being too much of a fan. My boyfriend and I went a few weeks ago. We went not knowing it was reservation only (because of the pandemic) but they graciously said they would seat us anyway because we came at their slow time. We were sat and were given a paper menu to look at and were told to go back up to the window when we decided on our meals. We decided to split the sausage and vodka sauce pasta and the Margherita style pizza. They give complimentary fresh baked bread with marinara to start. We ordered our drinks as well and everything came out in paper products. The drinks were in to-go cups with paper straws. The pasta came out in a paper style bowl and the pizza came out on a pizza tray. We did get actual silverware with our meal. I'm assuming the lack of regular plates, bowls and cups has to do with the pandemic? I'm not sure if they are just continuing this process with outside seating. Either way, it was fine and the food was delicious. There could have been more sausage in the pasta but it still didn't take away the fact of its yumminess. This is more of an upscale place due to their pricing so I won't be coming here as often but the ingredients are fresh and cooked to perfection. You get what you pay for! read more

We visited last night for the first time and I can't say enough how great it was. The location & restaurant is beautiful. The food was excellent - house fried chips and onion dip and a Matty pizza! Kathy, our waitress was attentive and lovely. The owner and chef Elaine is wonderful - truly - and made us feel truly welcomed. My husband is a Marine Corp. veteran and Elaine took the time to thank him for his service . Her dad was also a Vet and she offers 10% off to Veterans! Uxlocale and owner Elaine are just pure gold. The energy in this restaurant is what makes it incredible. If you make it in during the second half of the night you will most likely have Elaine herself (owner/head chef) stopping by your table to chat, welcome you and make sure you loved everything or perhaps discuss how she can craft up something unique for your dinner. The Good: Arrived early for a 7pm reservation and the four of us were promptly seated. Order some drinks and an appetizer. Fast service and the app was great. Our server, Mina, was oustanding. We then ordered our entrees. We all ordered different dinners. I thought the food was outstanding. The Bad: Wife got food poisoning. She ordered the Alfredo pasta and a side dish of a meatball. I came tonight with a couple of friends for the first time. I'll get right to the point. They were out of ginger ale. Out of lemonade. Out of sprite. They only had coke and Diet Coke. Not good options for people who can't consume caffeine at night. I asked the waitress how it's possible to be out of soda. She says they only get deliveries on Wednesday. They are only open from 4-7pm. Which is very bizarre in and of itself. My friend ordered the cauliflower appetizer. It was super bland. Didn't taste like it even had any salt or pepper on it. We all ordered very small $13-$14 salads. For $14 I would expect some protein with my arugula. Or perhaps some vegetables other than just arugula. The table next to us complained about their food. His dish was supposed to have sausage in it. When he asked the waitress, she said, oh yes, we're out of sausage. Surprise, surprise. Whoever does the provisioning might want to order more product. If they're only open 3-4 hours a day, it shouldn't be too difficult to order enough food/drinks to get through such short business hours. We will not be back. read more
