    Fish n' chips
    Rebecca H.

Peg's Diner is an older diner in town. An "oldie but a goodie", I'd like to say. When I called for take out on a Friday for fish n chips, the man who answered the phone was super sweet. I placed an order of 2 fish n chips plates. I subbed the fries for mash and the coleslaw for corn. The fish was white and fresh and the batter was the perfect thickness. Crispy and crunchy. The only thing I would change would add just a little more fish with the plate, as I was still hungry after my meal. For the price of each plate, $8.50, it can't be beat. I'd love to go back for breakfast. Homemade food is the best food & you're supporting a local business! Win-win!

A very basic, very rustic old style diner. Food is not fancy but is very good and a great value. Service is prompt and friendly.

She was working like a well-oiled machine. I couldn't even keep track of my own order, I dunno how she handled five at a time! I asked the nice lady which sandwich she liked and could recommend, and she suggested the turkey with bacon and swiss melt, so I went with it. It didn't disappoint. Quintessential diner fare, done right. I have to admit though, looking around at other plates. Why the heck didn't I get breakfast? Wakey wakey, I love eggs and bacey. I think you will certainly not regret taking advantage of the all-day breakfast. You may not think it, but there *is* an artform to executing diner brekkie right, and it would appear that Kim delivers. I overheard her talking about the development plans just behind the diner. You guessed it. Ugly cardboard condos! I think the diner will survive the onslaught of development and gentrification, but just in case... you better visit soon, because you don't know what you got 'til it's gone.

The place was packed, the staff was friendly, and the walls were a nostalgic sticker bomb, giving the whole diner a time-capsule kind of charm. I had the strawberry-banana ricotta stuffed French toast--sweet, creamy, and dangerous. My partner went savory with a Philly steak & cheese omelette plus homemade corned beef hash that honestly deserves its own Yelp page. My only gripe? I like my hot chocolate super chocolatey, and this one leaned more on the watery side for my taste. Come hungry, leave in a food coma. I'll be back.

It is decorated beautifully in a silver, gold and pink motif. Very girly but don't let that keep you away. The coffee is delicious. They took time finding the right brew for them. It's an organic Colombian coffee and my friend said it was the best she has ever had. A downfall for me is that you are charged additional for flavors and flavors we didn't know that so we racked up an additional $5 for that. They specialize in flights which is fun. You can get waffles, pancakes, French toast or eggs. In any combination of 3 for only $15. That includes 1 topping on each item. I had the cinnamon roll waffle and it was amazing. 10/10 worth going just for that. I got the egg flight and had the cook choose my flight. I had an onion omelette, scrambled eggs with tomato and over medium eggs. Everything was good. I got a side of bacon and sausage. The bacon was perfect. The sausage was fine. My friend got an omelette with spinach, feta, cheddar and jalapeño. It was served with toast and home fries. The omelette was great and the home fries are the best around. The toast was a little over done but who cares. I'm sure they would have remade it if asked. She also tried the red velvet waffle with cream cheese as a topping. The waffle was perfect but the scoop of plain cream cheese was a little off putting. I think a little cream cheese frosting would have gone better. But it was eaten up. Nothing was left so I think we liked it. Overall this is a charming little place that I think would warrant a visit. I will be back for more waffles!!

Busy joint, tight seating, and energetic servers who keep attentive. -- Patty Melt: So much to like about this, from the marble rye (though I think pumpernickel) to the full size patty (better than the double smashed you get elsewhere) to the onions to the gooey melted cheese to the extreme juiciness and pleasing flavor. I didn't detect any Russian dressing, but this sandwich wasn't lacking for moistness or flavor oomph. A near-elite rendition and one of the best I've had in a while. Excellent. -- Fries: Included with the patty melt and a plentiful supply. The bad news: they're the dreaded industrial "coated" kind. The good news: they were piping hot and cooked perfectly, crisp outside, fluffy inside. The great news: you can substitute home fries. My server offered a sample of the home fries. -- Home Fries: I found them to be right in my wheelhouse for doneness, crispness, seasoning, onions, and overall texture and flavor. Superb. Between the good looking plates that passed by and my enjoyment of my own food on my first visit, there's sure to be a second.
