The wings got to be the best by far in berks, we had the Hawaiian habernaro what a great taste and the service was fantastic.

Service was terrible. I had to get up 3 times to get the basics. Food was very good. Would not come back unless they fee additional help.

Great pork bbq. Tasty fare, decent prices. Small interior but I've never had to wait for a table. Sports themed with lots of flat screens. Lots of hockey on screen which I love. Long wait for food but it's really good once you get served. read more

Okay, I teetered on 2 or 3 stars, but came back to 2. Let me start with the positives..."Don't judge a book by its cover" The outside looks a little shady, but the inside is done up very nice. Wings "awesome" smoked all day, then fried to order. I also find "most" of the staff to be very friendly. So, you might say why the 2 stars. Here goes...Last time I ate there was on a Wednesday night during "Rib Night". The staff and patrons rave about rib night. Well I'm here to tell you, you can go ahead and skip "rib night". The ribs were tough, dry, and had zero flavor. I have eaten the Cuban (so-so) and the cheesesteak is average. The other positive is they do make Orange Crushes, down side they raised the price to $8.50. Two more things...I ordered the Hawaiian Habanero wings (btw the only thing I order anymore), they came out as BBQ wings and the guy said "hey we screwed up your sauce and gave you BBQ wings, here is a side of the Hawaiian habanero sauce". Really??? Lastly, I see the owner at the bar drinking 95% of the time, and I don't find that to be very professional. read more

Went on BBQ ribs night and really enjoyed the ribs... except my two sons were STARVING and ate pretty much everything on their plates and half of mine.... which turned out to be a BLESSING in disguise because I ended up ordering wings and they were AMAZING - get the smoked wings with the chili sauce. I am a night owl and my boys like 5PM dinner so I took a burger to go - WOW - it was fantastic four hours later... so good that I stopped again for another on togo the other day. This is one of the better burger/beer joints in the area. Not a fancy place and you get country service... the waitresses know the regulars by first name kinda joint... they are VERY friendly.... if you want 5 star service and nice table linens go to a five star place and enjoy your snooty meal but if you want a great place with great TV for sports, great bar/smokehouse food cold beer and a nice friendly waitress this is your place. read more

Went on a Friday night in early June 2015 with several friends. Toward the end of the evening I asked for a water. The waitress was very nice to our face, but I saw her hand the cup to the bartender, roll her eyes and say "water". The bartender then put the cup to her mouth and pretended to spit in it. I kept watching her, to make sure nothing happened to my water. The bartender filled the cup, above bar level, turned to walk, holding the cup above bar level....then she stopped and lowered the cup below bar level for about 20 seconds. She then raised it up above bar level again and walked to the waitress to ask who it was for. She brought the drink to me. I was far back at our table and didn't want to cause a scene or else I would have called her out on it. I don't know what she did to my drink, but I never touched it. I emailed the establishment privately as I did not want one persons poor actions to be reflected here....I emailed them twice, and never received a response. This makes me feel that the negativity goes farther than just this one bartender. It seems as though they only care enough to respond to a customer complaint on Yelp. I will never go back, and I have relayed this incident to the ladies I was with that night as well as others in the community. Very disappointed to say the least. read more

Van Reed has some great food. Their wings are the best in the area, especially their Irish Pride wings, that's a flavor you have to try. I'm only giving two stars for this review because of the unpredictable and often poor service. We've had bartenders make us feel unwelcome and recently tried ordering take out, had someone pick the phone up and then place it on the counter rather than answering. Those are the two examples that really come to mind. That's not to say I haven't had good experiences, but the bad has out weighed the good at this point. read more

This place used to be a dump! Under new ownership it's really good. Bright. Clean. Friendly. A pleasant surprise. The wings were very good. The wings were smoked and fall off the bone tender. They weren't to smokey like some other places. Just the right amount of smoke to compliment the flavors. We had hot, sweet chili and southwest sauces. Very good. Better than most. The prices were good and the service was friendly and prompt. Definitely coming back!! read more

I travel allot and try to find a comfortable place to dine without looking to the chain type places. A friend recommended this little place just a short hop from the busy center of town. The place was very clean and As I now understand had been taken on with new owners who renovated the entire venue. I sat at the bar and was quickly greeted by a very nice gal named Val. She knew I was not a local and quickly brought me up to speed on their place and what was on special etc. I ordered a draft of my favorite beer and the Rib Special. The beer came and they had me. I love my beer and one of my pet pieves is temperature. It was for lack a better term perfect. Amazing the difference in taste and enjoyment. She explained other have installed a system to ensure every glass is at the right temperature every time. Then the food came. A half rack of ribs and they were excellent. Hand cut fries, Winner. Before I was done they gave me a take out menu and asked how everything was and were truly wanting my sincere feedback. The owner even came out and engaged me in conversation about the work they did since taking over the business. They invited me to please come again I felt it was truly sincere. They wanted to make sure I was happy and that should be the desire of anyone owning a business. This is why I search out family run businesses. I will be back. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect from the Van Reed Inn, but it was actually quite nice in there. It's still a bar, but the atmosphere is nice, everything is newly remodeled (I was never in previously). The walls are a light color and there's nice stone behind the bar. I always picture dark and dingy bars, but it's nice in there. There's a pool table and some outside seating. We had several appetizers for an after work happy hour and all of the food was really good. The wings were falling off the bone. Pretzel bites were good. The food seemed a little fancier than typical bar food. Blue cheese on sliders, etc. They had a decent selection of microbrews for take out, along with the typical beer take out selection. I wasn't there long enough to form more of an opinion for a 5 star review, but I may stop in for lunch sometime. My first impression was a good one. read more
