Several times across multiple weeks and months we tried reaching out to Heather and to Coastal Virginia Counseling with no response. I even had my personal therapist attempt to reach out professionally and no response was received. A professional therapist ghosting clients in need is one of the most unprofessional things I have ever seen in therapy. Other people have posted positive reviews for this agency so I have to imagine other therapists are more professional but I would strongly advise doing your homework on your potential therapist before accepting therapists with this organization before you place your hopes in receiving therapy.

Despite filling out endless online forms, I got 5 minutes into my appointment and she said, "Oh I thought you were here for couples counseling." Nowhere on the forms did I mention couples counseling, and I'm sitting there alone kind of IN CRISIS. Therapist kept asking what my spouse thought about everything and after maybe 15 minutes together asked me what I was going to do. Oh and then she's going on vacation for a few weeks but I can have a phone consult with an NP who can prescribe meds but not counsel. Oooh and I love your dress!! Pass, pass, pass.

We also loved the exercises that she gave us to take what we learn in sessions and apply them, in practice, at home. Even though we were sometimes sluggish about completing them, she never made us feel bad about it while still holding us accountable. I first came to Laura while trying to deal with intense feelings of guilt over wanting to divorce my ex husband though I still loved him. Laura helped me work through that and eventually make the decision that was best for me. I've seen her on and off through the years while I deal with various issues but she is always there to help me work through things and process them.
