I got the Tacos Al Pastor, Birdie Sanders, and the Super Fresco tacos. I enjoyed the Al Pastor the most. They do not skimp! Shout out to Austin, TEXAS! Fun facts! I love to see restaurants going green and not being wasteful... when I ordered them on Uber Eats they stated that the only give utensils if you ask for them so of course I didn't because you don't need a fork and knife to eat tacos. So I've been on a hunt for the most killer Vegan spots. I just moved from Chicago and the Vegan food is amazing there. A little disappointed except for a few places here in Austin. I was about to Wrap up a 74 hour workweek when I was craving food after my 830pm shift ended and needed to be up at 430am for work. The Vegan Nom was on my list of places to try and it wasnt far from where I was so I decided to stop by. First off, the place is so cute and comforting. There were 3 other food trucks but only Vegan Nom was open. When you walked in from off the street you entered a lot with picnic seats, string lights and a chill vibe. I loved it. The girl working the counter was a GEM. She just moved to Austin too and we were chatting up a storm and I was giving her suggestions on where to go(my job has some if the best Vegan food so I was bragging). Long story short I got a 3 taco combo and you can choose any of their tacos so I got an Al Pastor, Korean BBQ, and the Birdie Sanders to go. The order was prepared quickly and the awesome young cook handed me my food and wished me a good night. Amazing vibes. I said my goodbyes and drove home to indulge. They were all AMAZING. But I think the Korean BBQ was my favorite. I dont like sweet but wasnt sweet. I added some of their hot sauce and I loved the crisp crunch of the cabbage. The Al Pastor..tasted like real meat. It was bursting with flavor. And the Birdie Sanders was spicy, crunchy from the Cabbage and Creamy from the Avocado. I literally had a bite of each and was full. No joke these tacos are huge and packed so they are definitely worth the price. I cant speak any higher of this place. Tried some of their signature tacos today! I got the Birdie Sanders with pickled jalapeños and the avocado reale with the added bacon and mushrooms. I added the jalapeño and chili hot sauces to both tacos. Of the two, I would definitely get the Birdie Sanders again. The cabbage, "chicken", and avocado go super well together! I was less impressed by the avocado reale. The kale was kinda tough, and the beans overpowered the whole taco. Their "bacon" is pretty good though, and I would add that to another taco. The park is growing and has a coffee shop and has two new vegan vendors in their lot! If you haven't been by to try their signature tacos yet, I would definitely recommend! Wow - possibly the best tacos I've ever had, vegan or otherwise. I had the Grilled Avocado Reale and the Super Fresco. Both were great, but a special nod to the incredible texture and flavor of the Super Fresco -- it's a crunchy taco inside a flour tortillas with a really tasty Gardein ground beef & cheese filling. I'll be thinking about that taco for a long time, and will absolutely go back next time I'm in town. The day I visited, there was also a coffee truck and a non-dairy ice cream truck - they seem to be permanent in this little food truck park as well. Today, I waited in front of the ordering window while the cashier counted money from a till box. No acknowledgement of my presence at all. I continue to wait a few more minutes. No problem, she finishes and then proceeds to have a casual conversation for five minutes with someone behind her. It was probably about almost ten minutes before I could even start my order. I get it, they are trying to be edgy and cool, but the attitude just comes off as pretentious. Customer service 101, just acknowledge your customers exist. Also when you come here, expect to wait a long time for your food. Which wouldn't be so bad if the food didn't come out cold. Just to give you an idea of the wait, there was a guy a couple spots in line behind me. We finished our food, walked down the street to Capital City Bakery, sat there for quite awhile eating a pastry and having a drink. Walked back and the guy still was waiting for his food. I've been here many times, so I am giving the three stars because the tacos generally taste good, and maybe today was just an off day. read more

Always great food and service! I've had several things and they are all amazing. The staff is super sweet and helpful. Sadly, this last visit did make me cry in my taco because I learned they basically discontinued the jalapeño Mac and cheese. Pretty cool Vegan Food Truck Park/Area. There's about 5-6 vegan food trucks in this little area with tables in the middle, cozy. I opted for the taco/burrito truck & it didn't disappoint one bit. I opted for the monster burrito "Big Brunch Burrito", woooweeeee I was like eating one of those huge burritos from freebirds, I tried but I couldn't finish it LoL. It had almost all the delicious fillings off the menu: chorizo, tofu, hash browns, beans, cheddar, pico. I'd definitely get it again, hands down! Their Jalapeño Mac & Cheese was different, a good different, LoL. I'll have to get it again too give it a fair assessment, I wasn't ready for the spicy creaminess. I've visited the indomitable Vegan Nom enough times to warrant a review , and better yet,enough times for the folks here to remember me by name. That's the dream. The tacos I've had the pleasure of eating are nothing short of special. The beans are always cooked to perfection, the veggies are always seasoned to retain their natural flavor but also to imbibe the spices, and the protein is always spot on. My favorite breakfast taco is the #5 - it's simple, but effective. I've also had the Mac n cheese (which I am personally not a fan of) but is quite filling at just $4. The Vegan Nom is one of the stars of the North Loop neighborhood. Not only is it one of the best taco trucks in town, it's also vegan and it's affordable. Their tacos are tasty, fresh and original. They have a $2 daily special on a different taco every day of the week, and special menu items for the weekend too. Overall, The Vegan Nom is pretty fantastic, but it does have some issues. The first is their periodical lack of staff. One person manning the truck alone translates in phone orders taking 10 to 15 minutes of wait time even after you paid and made your way to the truck, and walk-ins get to wait a whopping 25 to 30 minutes. This is obviously not ideal and quite frustrating for their clientele. While I don't necessarily expect a five star treatment from a food truck, I certainly don't expect to wait half an hour. I hope they hire new staff soon to prevent this problem from occurring. Two people is the magic number here. The second problem I experienced at The Vegan Nom is a lack of hygiene. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less how dirty it is inside the truck. What I can't see can't hurt me, right? At least until I get sick, which hasn't happened yet. My beef with the food truck comes from its grime-filled exterior, so much so that their ordering counter is completely glazed with a semi-opaque sticky varnish. The pad they hand you to pay is covered in brown stains and sticky grime too, and so is their menu! It's really freaking disgusting. I am grossed out every time I go there, but try to overlook that fact so I can just get my delicious tacos and forget it ever happened. Except one never really forgets. It sticks to your memory, ha. Finally, the cylindrical water jar at the back of the truck offers only hot and gross water (I'm not sure if it's the decomposing plastics seeping into the water, or just that their tap water tastes horrible from the source), so do yourself a favor and buy bottled water or a coke. It's worth it. In conclusion, The Vegan Nom's tacos rock my socks. They're the best. The premises and their hygiene practices though are disgusting. These kids running the truck need to learn how to keep clean. Else I fear a vegan grime monster may someday rise from the excessive accumulation of soot and oils. Belated review from last Wednesday evening when we took our daughter out to dinner in this food truck park. Overall, we were disappointed. We called our order in and gave them our ETA but they must have made the food right away. How could we tell? Well, we got the "Jorge's beef nachos" and when we opened up the container, 85% of the chips were a mushy mess (trapped heat=soggy chips). The flavors were fine, but we were automatically put off by that. We also didn't love the Big Brunch Burrito because something tasted off in it, but the Grilled Avocado Reale was seriously delicious and the only thing we unanimously enjoyed. All of the food is a bit spicy, so if you're dining with a small one (as we were), we'd recommend ordering off the kids menu. Our daughter's bean and cheese taco was basic AF, but whatever. So, yeah, unimpressed. It feels like this place could be better, and *should* be better given the price point. We wouldn't recommend it nor will we be trying it again given the plethora of alternate vegan options around town. My partner and I are here on a Friday night at 10pm. We got the Birdie Sanders, Al Pastor, and KBBQ tacos. I don't like pineapples but the Al Pastor was pretty ok. The reason for fewer stars: I rarely write reviews but the Birdie Sanders is so incredibly salty that I had to say something. The KBBQ (which also did not taste like kbbq) was salty too but no where near as bad as the Birdie Sanders. Idk if it's just our batch or the fact that it's late now but wow. I'm still uncomfortable because of it. I'm willing to give this place another shot--especially to support vegan businesses. Hopefully the sodium levels won't be as high next time. read more

The tacos were good but the wait was awful. It was 45min-1hr wait when we were there. It was during the wondering vegan/studio tour. So I don't know if that's normal or if it was just because the event. But the staff definitely seemed stressed and their tone of voice wasn't super warm. One girl came up to ask if her tacos were done and the worker said something along the lines of "I called your name about 8 times then gave up." -so that's not very friendly or customer service orientated. I would maybe go back and cross my fingers it's not as busy so the wait isn't 45mins.
