Bacon, egg and cheese taco with mild green salsa

I stopped at the El Primo food truck this morning. They are super friendly with fast service. It seems like a lot of people go to the coffee shop next-door and then get tacos here. There are also picnic tables outside to eat. My taco was delicious and they did not skimp on the eggs or cheese. Delicious way to start the day. They also have tortas and burritos.

I've been a Burrito Factory loyalist for almost 20 years now, but had never tried El Primo before. Only reason we decided to come here is because Burrito Factory was closed on Thanksgiving week. I had three of their tacos, and they were all pretty good. I enjoyed the lengua the most, and also ordered the pastor and asada tacos as well. Pretty simple with cilantro and onion, good sized portions, and overall excellent value. The only reason I give it a 4-star is that there are tastier tacos out there, and Burrito Factory burritos are far superior imo. The value of these tacos are undeniable, however, in a city where tacos can be up to $10 for a single taco!

The EXACT type of breakfast tacos I was looking for. I've been to both Torchys and Taco Deli and El Primo blows them out of the water. What I love about these tacos is that the meat is all chopped and mixed in with the egg. I can't stand when they just add eggs and bacon in a taco. What's the fun in that? Also, the chorizo was perfectly seasoned, spicy and mixed in well with the egg. The red salsa is also the perfect spicy addition. So far, these are my favorite breakfast tacos in Austin.

El Primo is a small truck in a parking lot, with no designated parking, and 2 small benches to sit in. It's not much to look at, as an establishment, but the food and prices were great, so the rest will have to suffice! We ordered some breakfast tacos, a torta, and a quesadilla. The quesadilla was mid, but the tacos and torta were full of flavor. There's really nothing better than a breakfast taco. The tacos don't have any fluff (no onion, or cilantro on top) so the star for me was the torta, which was creamy and delicious. They offer a variety of protein options - be sure to try the asada and barbacoa, for sure. The service was okay. They are a cash only establishment, but the website doesn't mention that. When we arrived and found out the only option was to place an order online and pay through the app. This was a longer process, with a longer wait time, but better than not having an option at all. The website only allowed you to pick a time 30 minutes out, but the person taking orders was able to speed that up a bit. We didnt see an option for drinks on their menu, so we ended up going into the nearby coffee shop while we waited. TLDR: I'm not rushing back tomorrow, but for a flavorful, quick, inexpensive breakfast taco, there are 1,000 worse choices in austin.

__THE__ place for your ATX taco fix!!! Start with the breakfast tacos and branch out from there. You simply can't go wrong. Open in the am till 3pm. Bring cash, it's cheaper. Outdoor seating, and Once Over Coffee for your coffee fix. Hassle-free parking west of S 1st.

Stumbled upon this place through instagram so decided to come out to try their breakfast tacos. Service was great and the food came out quickly. They have 2 tables to outside the truck to sit. Only downside was parking is a little tricky if the parking lot is full. Bean egg and cheese: 8.5/10, not the biggest fan of beans but the flavor here is amazing. Great vegetarian option Migas: 8/10, simple and delicious. The egg is an omelette with cilantro and tortilla strips cooked into it.

Stopped by on a frigid morning to pick up a few breakfast tacos. I was the only one there and when I ordered, he told me it would be a few minutes. I got two bacon, egg and cheese, one sausage egg and cheese, and one beans and cheese taco. The gentleman quickly prepared my tacos and I was on my way. He asked if I wanted sauce and explained green was not as hot and red was hot. Boy was he right on that! Green had a decent spice to it and it was more than enough for me. I tried the bacon, egg and cheese and liked that the bacon was well cooked and the filling for the taco was generous. I took this to go, though loved the look of the food truck.

The El Primo crew was very nice, and I'll probably try it again if I'm in the neighborhood, but the tacos were hit or miss for me. To be completely up front, I did order them and take them home (about a 12-15 min drive), so they weren't 100% fresh when I ate them. I ordered migas, pastor and barbacoa. The migas, which I was most looking forward too, was my least favorite. The eggs seemed dry & over cooked and there wasn't much flavor, so salsa was required. I've heard things about how stuffed the migas tacos are, but it seemed about average, maybe a bit less less compared to my favorite spots. The barbacoa was good. Basic, but the onion and cilantro is really all you need. It had less flavor than some barbacoa I've had, but it was moist and I think the corn tortillas were good; thin but held up to the moisture. I think I would liked a bit more or the richness that beef fat often provides. The pastor was probably my fav, and they were pretty good. A nice savory/peppery flavor, moist, and nicely complemented by the onion and cilantro. I didn't love the salsa, though if I were to choose, I'd go Verde. It has a more fresh flavor to it, good with meat. The Roja was hot I was warned it was a little too hot for my taste.

I've been eating here for ten years and there simply aren't better tacos from better people anywhere. If I'm anywhere near Austin I will always stop by and after a 3 year gap it's like I never left, down to my order being remembered. Grab some tacos, buy some red salsa, chat a bit. You won't regret it.

Traditional tacos. Simple and tasty. Austin staple, food truck. Run by welcoming smiles and energetic personalities. It's been a long time coming, enjoying these tacos. Ordered one chicken, pastor, and barbacoa, as well as one egg and chorizo breakfast taco. Always say yes to the onion and cilantro. Prepare for finger-licking messiness. What stands out to me most is how juicy and moist the taco meats are. I'm usually one to jump to the sauces, which are also really good, but these meats were good enough and not really needing extra flavor or moistness. Definitely worth the cash-only and limited hrs. Perfect for a Saturday morning. If the weather is not ideal, there is a coffee shop nearby with a good amount of tables, otherwise you're free to enjoy at the picnic table Primo has available for guests.

El Primo is a known staple in Austin for years. I found them through a YouTube video that appeared on my feed and knew I had to check them out. https://youtu.be/0jTHnyobAGU Upon seeing the video, I'm reminded of why taco spots like El Primo are the definition of the American Dream. Hard work + determination + passion = living a prosperous life you can be proud of. Apply that to tacos? Well of course I'm down for that! They are known for their breakfast tacos which are always available and they don't disappoint with the well-seasoned egg mixed with the protein served in that warm tortilla. The egg/chorizo and migas/ham/egg breakfast tacos were some of the best breakfast tacos i've had. Also got a lengua taco which was also succulent as the meat was super tender with that grease dripping from the taco when you're about to devour it. The staff is welcoming and full of grace as you can see with the way they take your order and serve it to you with a smile and warm thank you. This truck continues to be a staple for Austin's taco scene and it doesn't surprise me people rave about it and keep returning. I'm definitely a fan myself and this will be on my eats rotation whenever I'm in the state capital of Texas. Vamos El Primo!

Yum!! Had a tripe, lengua, and el pastor tacos. My daughter has the quesadilla and was very pleased. It's cash only if you are ordering there, you can also order ahead online, but it's slightly more. Would definitely go again. The tripe was crispy, the lengua has a good chew. They gave you salsa on the side. There are a few different tables to sit at for the food truck. I guess Daniel Radcliffe used to live close by and has talked about them and there is a bit of hype and a line on weekends. I went on a Monday at an off time and was happy the line wasn't too bad. The ambiance is a parking lot casual near Hu la hut. :)

This food truck is a gem! You know its good when there is always a line at lunch time, and my cousin and I came here two days in a row! Fresh, made to order tacos, burritos, tortas and quesadillas. They have breakfast tacos too. The woman who took our order was so nice and efficient. We decided to order all the tacos they offer since we were feeding a lot of family that was visiting. We ordered cheese quesadillas for the kids and they loved them too! Everything was so tasty and the Verde sauce they have is my favorite! It is Cash only here and there are a couple tables if you want to eat there. A great taco truck you should try if in the area!

Cauntos Tacos was recommended to me by my BF, and we decided to go all in with the "1 of Each Kind"…read moremenu option. Boy, am I glad we did this--it was the perfect way to try a little bit of everything and compare favorites side by side. Sauderos - One of my top choices. Great texture and flavor with a nice richness to it. That said, carnitas and longaniza still edged it out for me. Cachete - Almost felt like a milder cousin to the carnitas. I personally preferred the milkier flavor profile of the carnitas, but this was still delicious and incredibly satisfying. Buche - Softer and mushier than I would typically like in a meat filling, but the flavor itself was undeniably good. Texture held it back a bit for me. Carnitas - A classic milkiness that's genuinely hard to beat. Rich, comforting, and probably one of my favorite carnitas I've had so far. Definitely a standout. Longaniza - I've never really been a chorizo person... until now. This completely changed my mind. Deep red color, intensely meaty flavor, rich without being overwhelming--easily one of my favorites of the bunch. Champiñones - More flavorful and spicier than I expected. The mushrooms had a pleasantly chewy texture instead of turning mushy, which I appreciated a lot. Great mushroom flavor overall. Revuelta - Not actually on the menu, but something we personally requested. Delicious combination of meats, though tasting everything back-to-back made this one come across a bit saltier. Still, the pairing worked really well and made for a satisfying bite. The sauces deserve a mention too. The green sauce packed noticeably more heat and leaned herbaceous, while the red sauce had a beautiful smokiness that completely won both my best friend and me over. Service was honestly one of the fastest and most efficient I've seen from a food truck. Everything moved quickly and smoothly despite the steady flow of people. My only real downside had nothing to do with the food itself--I hated standing outside at 8 PM dealing with bugs while eating, but that's more the nature of the setup than the fault of the truck. Overall, I was genuinely impressed by the meat quality and how distinct each taco felt from the next. Carnitas and longaniza were the clear winners for me, but there honestly wasn't a bad taco in the lineup.

5 Stars - So Good, Worth the Hype…read more We finally tried Cuantos Tacos and wow... it absolutely lived up to the hype. Food: The tacos were incredible--fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. You can taste the quality right away. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and the tortillas tasted fresh and authentic. We tried a few different tacos and honestly didn't have a single miss. Simple menu, but done really, really well. Service: Service was friendly and efficient. Even with a line, things moved quickly and the staff were welcoming and patient. You can tell they know what they're doing and take pride in the food. Ambiance: It has that fun Austin food-truck vibe--casual, lively, and a little busy, but in a good way. It feels like one of those places locals love and keep coming back to. Overall: Easy five stars. Amazing tacos, great service, and a cool atmosphere. Definitely a spot we'll be coming back to again and again.

I ordered 2 steak tacos and horchata, both very delicious. The horchata is milky and sweet but not crazy sweet, and topped off with cinnamon. I got them on corn tortillas and I'm glad I did: idk if they make them in house but somebody in some house is making these because they definitely aren't store bought, and if they are I want to know where! I tried the orange habanero and creamy serrano salsas. The habanero was spicy off the bat, while the serrano had more of a lingering burn. Both paired well with the steak. They have a little bar, too, though I did not imbibe this time. Seems like they have a decent selection of agave spirits, and even Campari behind the bar (iykyk).
