Left my dog for 6 days. I came back and picked him up and he was visibly thinner than before. He had multiple scars on his back and a small little puncture on his right ear. He barely had energy when I picked him up. It was like he was petrified and suffered from some trauma. EDIT: I didn't reach out to you guys because other than a few scratches that turned into scars, he's not permanently maimed so I only care that he's back in my care. After a night of sleeping he was spritely again. I paid cash and didn't receive a receipt so I don't really feel like going thru any hassle. EDIT #2: Laura reached out and we communicated thru email. I also really appreciated all the updates and videos that showed me about Dexter's progress. This training program is amazing and well worth it! Communication - a phone call could have changed everything. Had a grooming appointment for my pup, dropped her off at 7:30am and called around 12:20 for an update on her grooming status as they normally call around that time letting me know my Pup is ready for pick up. However that was not the case. They informed me that there was actually an incident that morning involving our selected groomer that cause them to need to leave for the Hospital so my dog was added to the grooming list of another groomer that day. They had not started here but would be starting her soon. They apologized at this time. They never called me to inform me of this change or the new expected time line for her pick up. I would have gladly rescheduled and picked up my dog earlier that morning. I called again around 1pm and they said my dog had just gotten a bath and was going to be next for grooming after she was fully dry.... hadnt heard anything so I called again at 4pm. And was told they were just about to start her grooming so she would be done between 5-5:30. I just drove to the facility at 5 to pick her up. No appologies were made at pick up. We have to board our dog several times a year & we've had nothing but positive experiences with the Velvet Snout. We live quite far, but it is well worth the drive because of the quality of care our dog receives each visit. Our dog is naturally timid and anxious. If he doesn't like a certain place or people, he will stop in his tracks and refuse to move. When we get to the Velvet Snout he is always excited and runs right up to the receptionist. I've been remiss in leaving a review about Josh and his work with our goldendoodle, Kona. We brought Kona in August 2022 for the 2-week board-and-train at 4 months. I was super nervous about leaving my baby for two weeks, but Josh was really good about sending pics and videos or Kona training and interacting with other dogs. I'm so glad we got him trained early. It has made all the difference. Make sure you are diligent about the training after the 2-week session. I learned as much, if not more, than Kona. While we've been less diligent about the Saturday classes, any time we attend, Kona is soooo excited to see Josh and the gang. I would recommend Josh and Velvet Snout in a heartbeat. read more

So pleased with the Velvet Snout! We did three weeks of board and train for Einstein, our Great Pyrenees. Josh, the trainer, was extremely helpful and communicative, giving us frequent updates. He spent a lot of time working with our pup, who, as a Pyrenees, tends to be a bit hard-headed. And, he was very patient while explaining what we needed to do at home to continue training. The older lady in the front was not friendly at all and we felt unwanted as soon as we walked in. I had called the week prior to schedule day care and when I arrived my dog's name wasn't on the list. She kept making it seem like a huge inconvenience to accept our dog. We left and won't be coming here again. My Shiba Inu mix has been here twice and they said she was good the 1st time, just didn't eat her food, which I knew she wouldn't because it's a new place. I did have a dehydrated fish snack for her that the team said she ate. The 2nd stay was for several days and I was concerned she wouldn't eat again but the team added grain free (we have to be gluten free in my house) wet food and she ate all of her food and they said she had tons of fun during playtime. She was super tired for 3 days after I picked her up. They will definitely take care of you fur-baby. The cameras weren't working (playroom) which I was concerned about because I don't leave my dog just anywhere and the owner made me feel really good about the process, pricing is good and the place is clean. Outside areas are securely included and covered in turf but if your baby doesn't pee or poop on the turf, they'll walk over to some grass! read more

I didn't have much to go by before booking an appointment with Velvet Snout I usually do the research . My wife actually told me to book it so I assumed she did. I was first welcomed with a warm and friendly smiles. Maggie saw Mrs Tonya and she was extremely inviting and professional. There was something "Homey" to her. A couple hours after I dropped her off we got a got and Maggie was ready. Maggie looked so great and happy to see me. Mrs Tonya had gave me a report card of how she did and walked me through some at home exercises to keep up with grooming. We will be coming back just in time for a Christmas hair do. read more

We came across the Velvet Snout when we were trying to find training for our 9 mo old Golden retriever pup. We were also needing to board him while we were on a trip. Josh's training program worked out perfectly for both. Although our pup took a couple of days to acclimate (he'd never stayed anywhere else before), it was a great experience. Blu loved the pool and the outside play time. And there's a reason Josh is called the Dallas Dr Doolittle, it's because dogs respond so well to him. When we returned, it was our turn to to be trained. The training program is worth every penny and Josh makes himself available for questions. However, my connection dropped for a second and I didn't hear everything she listed. I apologized, explained about my signal loss and asked if her list included nail trimming. I am so happppppy! I took my dog in for an assessment today for daycare and then boarding for next month. I was so worried she would be so scared and maybe even snip at them. The owner called me half way through the day to give me an update; which was not expected but very much welcomed. Then when I picked her up she was so excited and the man that brought her out to me said she did really good. Of course she will need more practice; but at least I know now that the staff here will work with her, and me! My dog has become a grumpy little bastard in his old age and tried to bite the last groomer. They basically kicked him to the curb and said we needed to drug him before we could bring him back in. While we were at the vet getting homie some simmah down nah pills, our vet recommended The Velvet Snout (btw, how badass is THAT name?) The Velvet Snout staff is friendly and professional. They really love their fur-clients and make a point to learn each ones unique personalities. The last time my two boys were there, one of them managed to tear his dew claw. The on-call manager was unable to get ahold of me (I was vacationing in heaven's country which meant no cellular service!) so they made the executive decision to get him to their local vet to have the wound cleaned and medicated. It was the right thing to do since I was unavailable to provide any other instructions. My boys are sweet but extremely sensitive and are quick to let me know when they are unhappy with something, usually by digging claws into the pavement and clinging to my leg. The Velvet Snout is a clean, orderly, safe place to have your pet in day care or overnight stay. I had my dogs in daycare and then groomed and Patty did a wonderful job. My Chow has very thick fur, and she took it down to his summer length and he looks fab. My Maltese can get very stressed after being at the groomers, but came home fancy and prancy and very relaxed. The staff takes great care to keep the dogs calm, watered and fed, and exercised by following a very specific schedule. Your pup will not get lost in the crowd with this level of accountability and documentation. The suits are glass so your pup can have his privacy, but still be involved in the activity around him and not feel isolated or lonely. The staff did a wonderful job for a poodle we rescued from an animal shelter. I called to ask if they could take him and groom him the same day as he was incredibly dirty with matted fur and they said yes! Our poodle looks amazing now and is in such a happy place after being on the streets for however long and not having a home. I highly recommend Josh to anyone seeking outside training for their dog. We experienced a transformation with ours, a rescue who displayed aggression with various triggers, including being territorial over high- and even low-value objects, when being pet too long, and general spatial sensitivity. Josh's program is fairly priced and does not use a shock collar. Once the two-week board-and-train completed, we received private instruction and a verbal and non-verbal cue program to complete at home. This built toward weekly group classes where our dog could receive commands in a high-distraction environment with other dogs. I waited four months post-boarding pickup to share our experience so this recommendation would hopefully carry more weight. Our dog no longer exhibits that aggression. She is much happier and far more at ease now -- as are those around her. Getting Josh's help was the best decision we made for her and our home. read more

I take Dolly to the Velvet Snout for boarding and doggie day care. She always comes home happy and healthy. It took Dolly a while to get comfortable in daycare, but once she did it was so much fun to watch her playing with the other dogs. The webcam is great. I think she even has a boyfriend! The staff takes great care to make sure the dogs are compatible and properly introduced each time they go to play. But the biggest thing is that they care about the dogs. I love the Velvet Snout. I am very careful about where I take my dog, Henleigh. From the moment we got there the staff was helpful, sweet, caring, and very nice to my baby. I can also tell when she enjoys her stay. I took her to another place once; she never wanted to go in, and she was scared of some of the workers. However, at TVS, this was not the case. The staff at velvet snout went above and beyond there duty last Thursday. I'm a single mom of 3 and a rescue mom to two pit bulls. I tore my ACL the day before and was desperate for help. I needed my baby's walked. I have taken my 1 dog to them before for grooming which they did a amazing job! So I called for help, they do not offer dog walking service, but the staff felt so bad for me they had compassion and understanding. So they sent Angel to my house ASAP.. she arrived and my dogs loved her she walked them for me. I could not express my gratitude enough. She even went as far as to ask me if I needed help later in the evening! It's hard enough to find a place that accepts pit bulls to begin with, but for this business to send someone to my house and help my dogs was incredible. I will never take my dogs anywhere else.
