Miss Linda gives the best Brazilian Wax ever! And I've been getting them for 30 years! It was happenstance I found her, but will be leaving my old waxing place in the dust. Her products are excellent and LITERALLY pain free. She even "fine-tuned" with tweezers and also got rid of the ingrown hairs from the previous waxing I've been getting done. TMI review...I'm not a big waxer. I've had allergic reactions to wax and I also have a big old scar on my leg that's pretty sensitive. But every now and then I break down and decide to bite the bullet. The good: I called and made an appointment about 30 minutes out. They're open on Mondays. Space is nice and inviting. Yelp deal with check in 10% off. The meh: Though the price was still high for lower leg only. Wax wasn't fully cleaned up on one leg. I had a very relaxing and thorough wax job here. The price is great too! BUT Yelp users should know that Venus Experience double dips in their wax. This means they use the same wax for each client and each client is waxed with one popsicle stick applicator that is re-dipped into the wax multiple times until the service is finished. Then it is thrown away. This is VERY UNHYGIENIC. A spa should use a new popsicle stick wax applicator each time the wax is applied so only clean, unused sticks go into the wax. I asked this spa why they didn't do this and they said that the hot wax kills all of the germs. This is untrue. I needed some emergency waxing services late on a Friday afternoon. They were able to accomodate me with little notice and I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the salon was, and the friendly service at the main desk. I saw Bianca, and she did a fantastic job. Quick, friendly, THOROUGH, and very professional. I was even more thrilled to learn that a brazilian is only $40, which is the lowest I've found in New Orleans. As the place was highly recommended by several of my sorority sisters and conveniently located within walking distance of campus, I booked an appointment right away. When I say right away, I mean the day before I left for vacation (I tend to procrastinate); however, they gladly accommodated me and I had an appointment with Bianca. I sauntered into the salon and was welcomed by the calm and serene ambiance of the place. (Calm and serene is nice when you're preparing to have your hair ripped off). The first time I went here for my wax, I loved it. I had Bianca; she was very friendly and made sure you were comfortable. The second time I went here I had (Linda?) if I remember correctly. I then began to look more closely at what she was doing and realized they double-dip. This can spread infections (research it for yourself). This place provides a nice brazilian for cheap, but not in the right way. I will not continue to go here and will be looking for a cleaner place to get my wax. read more

A little expensive but definitely worth it. Gladys used to do my manicures and brazilian waxes and she's amazing. The waxes were relatively painless and my manicures NEVER chipped. I still don't understand how that's possible. My manicures usually always chip. All of the employees there are so friendly and attentive. It's also walking distance from Tulane so it's really convenient for students. However, since a lot of students go there it can be hard to make an appointment for fridays or saturdays...and right before vacations. Mani and pedicure: I really liked my first experience not so much my second. First time was a "special" $40. Mani lasted over a week and pedicure lasted almost 4 weeks. Today I went a second time for the same service $65!!! Same nail tech; yes it's been a while since my last mani, but there's no reason I have 3 areas that are inflamed from cutting cuticles to short. Got a wax here because the price was good but overall it was a super weird experience. Maria didn't clean anything before she started and double dipped the wax throughout the appointment. She didn't clean my skin off after and I left with clumps of wax stuck to my legs. The next day I noticed severe bruising and peeling skin from the wax. I tried to get it touch with a manager via phone and email but haven't received a response. Would definitely not recommend this place even if you're on a budget read more

I've been getting brazilians for awhile and I will not be returning here. Yes, the $40 price is great, and it's also very close to where I live, but they do NOT use hard wax and they double dip in their wax! Double dipping is unacceptable. It's very unhygienic and can cause infections. Every other place I've been for waxing does not double dip - common practice is to throw out the popsicle stick after using it once. These ladies get the job done at the lowest price that I've found. I wish they used the wax that Esthetique Facial Spa uses because it hurts less and works better. I also wish that they'd see customers at the scheduled time. I usually have to wait 15 minutes, but they do work swiftly. I am always able to get waxed and head back to work within my lunch break. I'll be honest, the price is what initially drew me to the Venus Experience. My roommate first booked a Brazilian wax appointment there based on proximity and didn't have any complaints-- so I decided to give it a try. I've been a Brazilian wax veteran for over a decade and have to say that the quality of the service and unsanitary practices make the Venus Experience unacceptable. Mercedes and Gladys are both sweet ladies and quick at waxing, but often miss many stray hairs. For $35- $40 + tip, you really are getting substandard service. The first time I got a Brazilian it was by Mercedes. At first, I was surprised by the lack of modesty draping. Also, the wax was almost unbearably hot (and I use Relax and Wax No Scream Cream which numbs by more than 60%) and I still felt myself wincing. I'm definitely no weenie when it comes to waxing-- usually, I barely flinch. I think it was a combination of the temperature, the low quality wax, and re-using each cloth strip that contributed to the extra discomfort. This caused a lot of extra tugging at the skin and I was shocked by how bright pink my entire bikini area was immediately and for almost a week after the wax! It looked like I had a sunburned vajayjay! At the end of the service there were no soothing sprays or calming creams used following treatment, only baby powder. I left a bright-pink baby-powdered mess, felt like I was rushed in and out, and that my concerns were not addressed. Side note, when I mentioned the stray hairs, Mercedes said that I hadn't allowed for enough growth. For someone who's been getting Brazilian bikini waxes for years, I definitely know how much growth is appropriate. A few months later I decided to give The Venus Experience another try and booked an appointment with Gladys. My actual waxing experience was similar in terms of quality- quick and sloppy. However, this time I noticed a practice that is an absolute no-no: Double dipping in the wax container! Waxing such an intimate area demands the highest standards of sanitation to prevent infection. I was absolutely horrified when I noticed it being done and spoke up politely. Gladys said that the temperature was hot enough to kill bacteria which is completely incorrect. Save yourself the risk of a staph infection and pay $10-$15 more for much better service elsewhere! read more

First of all on they're Facebook page it states that if you tell them that you joined their fan club, and tell them at checkout, you'll save 10%. When I mentioned this, they said the discount was no longer available, but it's on their profile plan as day. Next I called to tell them I was running a couple min late, and the receptionist very rudely informed me that I "better get there as fast as I can" because there was another appt after me. She was obnoxious. When I got there I had a brow wax and mani/pedi done. $80 is pretty steep, I've been having these services done every two weeks for thirteen years, and usually it's much less expensive then that, but okay. I ended up only being four min late to my appt. Brow wax and pedi were okay, but where they do your manicure is a lot like sitting in a dark closet. The woman wasn't as nearly experienced as my normal person for these services. (This was my first time there). Then after the world's shortest manicure, as I sat down to the cheapest drying lamps ever, I messed up the polish on my thumb nail- by accident. The woman who had done my services tried to cover up the giant scrape with more polish. When I asked her to fix it so that it wouldn't look like a giant divet of nail polish on my thumb, she got exasperated with me and told me I'd have to wait thirty min for her to finish with her next client. Really? It was an accident. I didn't smudge the polish on purpose. Then she called the previously rude receptionist, and asked her to polish my nail. I politely asked the receptionist to not put all four layers on at once, as the polish would bubble, and she ignored me and did it anyway. When the woman who'd done my services came back, I told her what had happened. Instead of fixing the messed up nail, she put more top coat on it. So I have 9 great nails and one nail that I could've painted better by myself. The worst part is that I still tipped, the woman who did my services stood next to me, and watched me fill out my slip. Overall, horrific experience, for close to $100. I don't understand how they're still in business. The cheap nail shop at the mall does a much, much better job. I'd call and complain, but the woman who did my services WAS the owner. Save your money. Go to Serenity Nails or Kathy's instead. read more
