This update comes at least 3 visits after my first review. One, I had a glitter ombre in mind that just wasn't executed well. Another, an older lady was doing my nails (the younger one with the dog is who I like but I can't recall her name). This woman filed my nail until I was bleeding and didn't say a word or anything. Just got a paper towel and dabbed the blood off. I didn't come back for a long while after this but decided to give it another try. This last time I thought for sure I'd get the woman I liked because no one was in there and she was sitting at the table seemingly ready to go. When I tried to sit in front of her, a younger guy told me to come down by him. He was just super careless with my nails. He didn't measure them up beside each other to make sure they were around the same length so I have one very short thumb and two visibly shorter index finger nails. Also, the shaping wasn't uniform. Some were more pointed and some were more round. He turned my hand around really quickly and at first glance they looked alright but when I could really get the time to compare them, they were terrible. He also didn't bother to smooth them out after the dip powder was applied. All of my nails are bumpy and not properly smoothed and buffed. Not only that, they've already started breaking. One just broke as I was typing at work on the computer, not doing any strenuous activity and didn't bump anything...it just started cracking then the tip just came on off. Mind you I just got these done on Thursday and it is Tuesday...not even a full week. I used to pay $35/$40 for dip powder with tips and this time it was upped to $50. I wouldn't mind paying $50 if I were getting $50 caliber nails, which I did not. I didn't get $20 worth if you ask me. With all of that being said, there will be no more second chances. The quality has declined with each visit. So I'm never going back again. I can waste my money in better ways. read more

Paid for dip powder nails two weeks ago. Within the first week, one of my nails on my left hand CHIPPED. This was my first time getting dip nails and I was told that this wasn't supposed to happen. Apparently (according to google), chipping occurs when the top coat isn't applied to the tip of your nails. So I went back that same week to get it fixed, and the younger guy who worked there fixed it. But then he went ahead to ask me if I wanted to pay cash or card???? The owner ended up waving it off and telling me not to worry about it. Fast forward to another week later, a nail on my RIGHT hand chips and another nail on my finger gets a CRACK across the middle. Mind you, I'm hardly doing anything to cause these things to happen! The cracking occurs (again according to google) when the dip powder is applied unevenly to your nail. To be fair, I caught the salon an hour and a half before they were supposed to close so my job may have been a little rushed. But at the end of the day, I still paid $90+ dollars to get my nails and toes done here, and I feel like I shouldn't be charged for the mistakes of man who did my nails. The three stars are mainly for the professionalism and friendliness of the workers during my initial visit. I'll post an update review after I go back to the salon to get my nails done. read more

I was in search of nail salon near my office. I tried this spot. The overall experience there was nice, but I spent $100 there for a pedicure and a dip manicure. 6 days in one nails chips , 7 days In second nail chips. I get dip so it last. I could have the same results with a basic manicure from a good salon. I really was hoping for a good spot to find and was completely disappointed with the outcome! read more

I've discovered Gloss a little bit after they first opened under new management. I've been going to a salon a couple blocks down but never felt like they ever took their time with my nails. Stopped by this place while in town on business. Was looking for a place with reasonable prices without horrible reviews. This place was worth the stop. I was just going to get a manicure but they talked me into doing a pedicure also. Would have been only $15 just for the manicure. Pretty good. Both were $40. There was no one there so I got in quickly. More folks showed up after they got started with me. I'm not a regular nail salon person so I'm not super picky. I just don't want to pay a lot, knowing that nail polish chips, etc. I would go again and I would recommend! read more

I absolutely loved my experience at Gloss. I have spent months trying to get a solid dip powder experience (my first time in NC, the manicure lasted a month). Every other salon in Nola I've found does a gel top coat that chips or cracks within a week. This is the first salon I've found that didn't do the gel top coat and took the time and energy to do dip powder the right way. They were so sweet and kind and offered me a glass of wine as soon as I walked in the door. I'm in love with my nails and have gotten so many compliments on them. Went here for the first time today. The atmosphere is nice and quiet and there are plenty of color options. They took the extra time to remove my old acrylics as gently as possible, and, as a result, my nails feel and look much healthier than usual. I highly recommend this place and definitely plan on returning here. read more

I went to Gloss with a friend to get a dip manicure and my friend wanted a regular mani. They said ok and started my friend, and not until after 30 minutes did they tell me that only one manicurist could perform a Dip manicure and she was going to be another hour. What?!?!! I could wait or come back. I will never go back to this business. When I requested a dip when I walked in, I should have been told it would be an hour and a half for my service. The new owners are unprofessional and don't know how to communicate! My friend and I went to get a dip manicure and regular manicure. They started the regular manicure right away and 30 minutes into my wait they said that the dip would be another hour. That should've been communicated the moment we walked in and requested that service. My friend and I would have left and gone to another salon. Only one of their practitioners can do a dip. That's ridiculous! New owners are going to ruin this business if they don't get it together. read more

Okay, so I've been going to this nail salon since 2009. I love the location and have always been able to be seen. Even Throughout the different management, I've still be a patron. Although going through different management can be scary for a longtime customer the new management/owners are great. They've put in new chairs, lighting, a tv they keep low (which I like), added new colors, and most importantly have great customer service. The mother is my absolute favorite. I've only gotten gel manicures and pedicures (no acrylic and dip) and those have always been great. It doesn't hurt that they have affordable pricing as well. read more

The woman buffed some of the dip off at the end and my nail was left with with my real nail showing through! After 1 day it looked like my nails have been growing out for a week! I have been getting manicures and pedicures from Gloss for over a year and have always been happy. However, a few weeks ago I went there for both a manicure and a pedicure and noticed the service wasn't the same. The individual doing my manicure didn't have me take off my watch or rings and just massaged around them. Three days after the pedicure, I noticed the toe nail polish had started to chip, I didn't do anything to cause this. I immediately called and the manager who stated that this was unusual, and told me she would look at the pictures of my toenails and work something out. When I returned, I showed her the pictures of my toenails and she said the best she could do for me was to discount the polish change. I was charged $8 instead of the normal $10 and after paying for parking and driving halfway across town it simply wasn't worth it. She also had a very bad attitude and didn't seem to be concerned about customer service in the least. I have a feeling the place has changed hands. Too bad, because it was a very nice place at one time. read more
