Reposting on Yelp as The View has taken down my + many other former tenants HONEST reviews. They claim that they don't take reviews down, but I've seen it happen to 5+ former tenants. I genuinely enjoyed living here, but the $400 a month rent increase when I tried to renew my lease is what lead to a 1 star review. The new management is great (compared to the 3 different management teams during the short time I lived there) and I know the increase was coming from corporate. However, the building is not worth almost $3000 a month to live in a glorified studio. Now they're left with a bunch of empty units because no one will renew or a sign a lease at these outrageous rates. The building is a ghost town. It's really a shame that they're losing SO many tenants over this. Not to mention, this building is disgusting at this point. I went back to visit some friends a few weeks ago. I found a shattered handle of alcohol just sitting in the hallway. They are really letting this place go, it's terrible. If it's this bad now, I could only imagine how bad it is in 5 years. I must share one of my memories at The View - when a domestic dispute carried into the entire building with a man breaking doors to enter into back into the building after being escorted out by the police. My boyfriend, who is a corrections officer, had to handle the domestic dispute because the front desk was unsure what to do. The back door is still broken from this (it happened in August/September) and anyone can walk right in by pulling on the back door. **Also, many of the 5 star reviews on Google are employees of Priderock. Updated Review: I have had two leases in this building since January of 2020. When we first moved in, some amenities were not accessible or available as it was a new building and COVID precautions were in place. We knew what we were getting into and we were super patient about it. Everything was great, obviously since we signed two leases. The original staff was amazing and super helpful and informative. There has since been changes with staffing and management. I submitted a work order for my ceiling on November 8 2021 and as of now has not been addressed (January 9th 2022) Maintenance came to fix, yet another, leaky ceiling and left the job incomplete with a patchy paint job that clearly does not reflect luxury living. I've emailed about this twice. They have also come to fix a leaky kitchen faucet, which they left very lose and feels like it can fall off at any moment. Emailed about this half done job a week ago. On top of the sloppy maintenance work, our renewal lease option that was originally presented to us was an increase of $500 in rent & $100 in parking. So a total of $600 monthly increase to renew. Obviously that prompted us to look else where. We found a great apartment in Rittenhouse Square thats $200 less than what we pay now. So it actually worked out for us in the end. They did try to negotiate another offer , however at that point we've already seen other, more convenient apartments, so it was too late. The building itself used to be kept a lot better. Not so much now. The walls were a mess. They just recently painted them. Just in time for tours, assuming many residents will be moving with this rent increase. Morning front desk staff is pleasant, always speak always nice. Night shift is completely different. Always on their cell phone, heads down. Not attentive. Just there. There is one girl who always speaks and is nice , everyone else needs more training. Someone on staff is always sitting in theater room just hanging out. The rooftop deck is finally open after two years, sort of. The elevator button to the roof is disabled for whatever reason. The building isn't terrible , they just need to figure out the maintenance/ management issues so tenants won't experience a two month delay like I have. Take more pride in keeping the building clean. Train staff appropriately, and bring back community events (NOT the ones that we currently have to sell a product/service ) Those feel like timeshare presentations. If these issues are fixed , then maybe asking for more $$$$ a month won't be as insulting. read more

I deleted my initial review out of concern for my own safety but will post again (without specific details) to let future residents know that this building is NOT safe to live in. Additionally, Priderock's leasing agent Kelli is egregiously unprofessional and is known to gossip with residents and violate fair housing standards/tenants' right to privacy, even going so far as to point out a woman in the building that Kelli believes is sleeping with a married man. The team at Priderock is finally letting me break my lease after being attacked by another neighbor back in November. Be wary of living on the 4th floor read more

This building was great when I first moved in 3 years ago. Over the past year, the new management has let the building become dirty and unkept. The ADA door on the side of the building has been broken for over a year allowing anyone to enter the building at any time. The landscaping is unkept with constant weeds, overgrown trees and grass, and mud pits. The pool has mold growing in it. The new manager Crystal is rude and not friendly or helpful. She just sits in her office with the door closed and the lights off watching movies. Multiple maintenance workers have left due to terrible working conditions, leaving the building in more disarray. I love this neighborhood but I will not be renewing my lease due to the safety concerns, conditions and staff of this building. read more

We lived there for 15mo. The management seems to be always changing which is hard to hold them accountable to faults. We had issues with the water drainage pipes not being hooked up properly and flooding the apartment and floors down below. I really feel for the apt below us. The kicker really was that there was a remaining bill which they did not reach out to us after we had left even though they have our contact by phone and email. The bill went to collections and came to us 9mo later which was upsetting to deal with when they could of just reached out. read more

Save yourself and do not live here!! My boyfriend and I had a poor experience living at this place. For almost $3k a month, our unit came with a multitude of issues just a few months after moving in. Our washer and dryer fully broke, so our clothes were soaking wet and did not dry for weeks. The maintenance people are friendly, but can be slow to fulfill requests and lack attention to detail. They had to come multiple times just to improperly fix our washer/dryer. The apartment below us had flooding, we had wet floors and needed to keep a fan blowing for 24 hours to prevent mold. Not only that, but they left scratches and chips in our walls after transferring the washer/dryer units from our apartment. Additionally, my boyfriend called maintenance for a leak coming from our balcony door, so the maintenance man came by to look at it, said he could fix it, proceeded to walk out of the apartment and never returned to fix the issue. There is not just a maintenance problem, but the management is the real overarching issue for this building. While the management changes every few months, I have been told on many occasions that something will get done and it does not. For example, our "year-round heated pool" was not heated for most of our lease. We complained and nothing got done. We were told the carpets in the hallways were going to be replaced at the beginning of our lease, which was clearly a lie to make us have some hope for the place. The people at the front desk (not going to name anyone), appear to spend most of their time scrolling on their phones and one even hangs out at the gym and does not tend to the front lobby door. It's a free for all. The lobby door is almost always unlocked during the day, creating safety concerns. The package room is disorganized...as packages are left out in the open so anyone can take your belongings at any time. The apartment is extremely noisy because of the Ben Franklin Bridge and busy intersections lining the entire building. Shameful, inconsistent maintenance and management issues. Lackluster amenities - there were fruit flies submerged in the pool over the summer. Elevators are shaky. Hallway carpets are stained from dogs having accidents. Overall not worth the expensive pricing for this so-called "luxury" apartment building. Side note: they also deleted their 1-star reviews on Google! read more

I've lived here almost two months. I've endured about 7 fire alarms, including one at 3:30am that went off for an hour. First I had no hot water; then hot water that was only intermittent or took 5 minutes to get hot. It took two weeks for them to figure out the problem. There are no hot water heaters in units so good luck if something goes wrong. Due to the way the building was built, if one unit has plumbing issues, multiple units have to be entered to try to figure out the problem. The plumbers say they've never seen such a poorly built building. The cable people say the same. Leaks are a constant problem here. Some apartments have no cable hookups in the living room (oops - they forgot that when they built the place). Grass isn't cut until it reaches forest stage. Several doors are broken. Cracks in the hallways and ceilings. Constant construction. Elevator shudders. Now they are going into occupied apartments, cutting holes in the ceiling, interrupting people's work days, because the building hasn't even passed inspection yet. They have no sympathy for causing these interruptions. Amenities are not complete. Be aware that second floor is short term rentals. I'm hoping things improve but it hasn't been a great start. Apartments are nice enough but all the other problems make it impossible to see that. Definitely not luxury. read more

I just signed my lease and honestly I could not be more excited to move in. I looked at a few different apartment buildings in Philly but The View was the perfect place for me. Every day I ride my bike to work and thankfully, there's a personal bike storage here. I secured a unit with a view of the Ben Franklin Bridge and I cannot wait to sit by the window with a book and watch the cars drive by. I'm so excited to start living here! read more

I moved into The View at Old City in January 2020. The day before I was scheduled to move in, I was called by the Leasing Office and told that my unit was not ready and that I'd have to move in to a temporary unit down the hall. I lived in a temporary unit for 2 weeks before moving into my actual unit. Upon moving into my actual unit, my washing machine didn't work and the water was murky (there had been multiple days with no water at all while they were 'testing'). When the water was turned back on, there were mornings that I couldn't shower because the only temperature was scolding hot. There were also times that I got a knock on the door and 4-5 maintenance men entered my unit that did not speak English to 'fix' something that I didn't know about. The one night it was 8PM. I'm a girl, living alone, and was given no warning of maintenance men having to enter my unit. New buildings have some hiccups so I understood; However, after 2 months of living here, I'm still dealing with issues. This time, not in my unit, but the amenities that we were promised upon moving in. When I signed my lease, I had signed for a building that had a pool area and a rooftop as pictured on the website. The amenities are not nearly finished. I have not yet seen the Zen Garden since I moved in because this area has been blocked off for several leaks (leaks that require the Disaster Restoration company to be here everyday). Aside from all of this, I was not told at the time of signing my lease that the building offered an Air BnB service, Barsala. The whole 2nd floor of the building is rented out to this company and is offered to the public for ~$50/night. The clientele coming from this service is not that of a "luxury" building, in fact the management has received several calls about the clientele and has yet to do anything about it. Even in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, the company still operates business as usual. When I signed my lease, I was told about the several amenities available, "First Fridays" for residents, amenities for my dog (aka a dog spa), etc. I have yet to receive that. What I WASN'T told about was the unfinished construction, the Air BnB business, the lack of management transparency, the mold issue that apparently happened in 2018 and the refusal to work with the PA union for contractors, the marriod of construction workers/companies in and out of the building all day everyday, and the total absence of "luxury" I've ever seen in an apartment building in Philadelphia. read more

I toured this incredibly impressive building today, and I cannot wait until it opens so that I can move in. I adore the roof deck, the courtyards and the proximity to Old City nightlife, galleries and shopping! The gentleman who toured us was fantastic, and seemed to know the neighborhood extremely well. And the best part is that my pug Rocky can live there, and I'm certain that he's going to meet a ton of other dog residents. read more

I've just signed my lease and I have never been this excited about moving into a new apartment before. First off, the location is phenomenal. Penn's Landing and Spruce Street Harbor were two of my favorite places to visit during my college days and now I found an apartment super close to both of them. Second, they're pet friendly so I'll be able to have my dog living with me instead of sending him to my parent's house. I really can't stop thinking about the new apartment. read more

So I've only recently moved in but I have to say that I already love my new apartment. The staff here is super accommodating and made my move in super easy. They've also been great with handling resident and visitor safety here during coronavirus, and to make things better, they gave all residents some nice little "surviving social distancing" packages. My partner and I just moved in recently knowing that COVID-19 would cause some of the amenities like the pool and gym to stay closed/limited, which is completely understandable given the circumstances. There have been a few kinks that come with a brand new building but any and all issues were quickly addressed and resolved. The management is super communicative with their residents and always respond in a timely fashion. We cannot wait until coronavirus is behind us and the city reopens so we can really take advantage of everything the neighborhood has to offer! read more

Beautiful building. We've moved in january understanding that construction was still ongoing. Fantastic location with some many possibilities. Unfortunately COVID-19 happened which put a halt on construction on some of the amenities like pool and rooftop which is understandable considering the global pandemic. All service requests have been addressed in a timely fashion and any new building kinks were easily addressed and resolved. We communicate with management and management very nicely communicates back to us with a resolution and in a proper time frame! We look forward to the final steps of consruction being complete and Philadelphia reopening so we can enjoy the amenities and the building to the fullest. read more

I am so excited to move into this community! Moving out of state has been a nerve racking situation for me, however after touring with Maurice today he put my mind at ease - so much so that I signed everything today and move in December. Maurice was very knowledge, not only about The View but about the surrounding area and even recommended a great restaurant for dinner near the community. Can't wait to move in and take advantage of the pool, fitness center and the community around The View. So excited this will be my new home when I move to Philly!!!! read more
