(3) The website lists prices for the computer tablets (which hold 66 cards), but not for paper cards. (When I went, it was $2 for of paper, which had 12 cards for each of the five games in the session.) (4) If you win, they deduct 5% for taxes. That would be fine, except it's not explained anywhere, not on the website, not on the instruction sheets at the tables, not on signage anywhere. (5) There is no vibe. It's certainly not a festive atmosphere, It's pretty dead.

Some of the bingo halls are operated by a staff of grumpy people and it makes the clients grumpy too. North Austin Bingo (see my review) is a joyless pit while this place was a fun time! 2) Affordable. This place has it figured out. Want to play bingo on paper with ink? Only $1 for a card!!! You want a computer, it's only $5 for the session. You want to be a total degen and surround yourself with computers, well at least you wont break the bank. Two computers and one paper were $11 here. Cost me $36 at North Star Bingo and it was horrible. 3) They actually call Bingo here. When the actual Bingo session begins, they treat it like a real game of Bingo. They call the numbers, they give you time to mark them off. Sounds simple, but if you've played at a hall where they just rip the numbers off super fast you know that all the fun is sucked out of the game. They respect that some people want to be entertained, not just gamble. 4) Pull tabs are kept in control. All these places rely on pull tabs to make ends meet, and the customers certainly eat them up. They are not my thing at all, but this place neatly compartmentalizes the games so if you want to play Bingo, you play Bingo during the sessions. Other halls had so many pull tabs and horse race games mixed it it was distracting. 5) It's clean! This can't be said for some of the dingy halls in Austin 6) Just an ok place to hang out. The sound is good. they have a full snack bar with food. The chairs are comfortable. They seem to care to make the experience a good one. If you read my reviews of some other bingo halls, you will see not many care at all. This place cares.

However, I gave Capitol Bingo a try this time around and they exceeded my expectations. The staff were extremely nice, they answered all my questions so that I wouldn't be confused. They also kept coming around to check on me to make sure that I was playing the correct games at the correct time. Even though I don't like pull tabs, I actually got in on the action since the staff explained how to play them and the differences between them. I also loved that this place was completely smoke-free so I could enjoy playing Bingo without having an allergic reaction to the smoking. This was an awesome experience and I highly suggest that you check out Capitol Bingo if you're in the Austin area.

It wasn't what he said, it was how he said it with a condescending attitude and tone. I was apparently a menace or "youngin" being rude. I removed my purse from the stool and put it on the way too tiny hook for anyone's bag and then LITERALLY NO ONE sat there the next 40 minutes until we left. I'm always thoughtful, that if it's a crowded place, that I wouldn't take up a stool with my bag . Him, his comment and attitude were unnecessary. Whether he "built" the bar or not. I had my first bad experience last night with this bingo. last night that was three computers left…read moreunattended for the second and third session and this was the third session third game block of nine. I won (Bingo) yelled bingo that computer went off and someone else ran over and yelled (Bingo) on behalf of the person who left that computer unattended for over two 2 1/2 hours the (Bingo) house still pay that computer out the person who yelled (Bingo) called the person who purchased the computer to let them know they won and they came back and collected the money this is unacceptable and very disappointing and I did file a complaint with the Texas lottery commission.

It gets super hot in non smoking (I'm not sure about the smoking section). It might be just because it's always so crowded but if something could be done about that, people would be much happier. My second complaint isn't actually about the bingo hall exactly. There is a man and sometimes a woman with him who is obnoxious as all get out. He always sits in Little Non Smoking. He's an older, short, chubby-ish black man. During horse races, he continually yells out the number that he needs, so loud that you can't hear the announcer. And he stands up and jumps around while yelling. I understand that you can get excited but it's super annoying. Also, DURING the games, he calls out the numbers that he needs... he yells stuff like "don't make me come up there and reshake those balls for you James", or "I know I don't need to teach you how to pick the right balls James" "I need a 7 James!" "Come on James!" Or! When you have children with you and the number O69 is called.. "oohh James! You called my favorite number James! 69 is my favorite number" - some people laugh at him but most find him super annoying but no one makes him stop because he comes in with stacks of 100's and I guess he tips very well.. I get that the runners depend on Tips, but ... my family and friends will stop coming unless someone makes him stop. Or at least calm down a bit. You can tell he does it for attention bc he always looks around after he says stuff, to see whose watching him. It's ridiculous. Other than they crazy man and it being a tad bit warm, I love the place! I go whenever I can, with my family and on Saturday's with friends!

This place is an Austin institution and one of the best places in the city to experience live music. This historic venue has been a local hangout for great music since the 1950s. The club was dimly lit with lots of stickers, graffiti, neon signage, paintings and interesting artifacts. While it has been a long time since I have been to the Continental club, it still felt truly Austin and very unpretentious. In the Continental Club you are literally I feet away from the live music. A dog was sleeping on stage, which made the place feel homey. The club is small and intimate, exuding a super personal persona. In addition, the sound quality is excellent for such a small venue. Tonight we listened to Hot Club Cowtown...they sounded folksy and a bit country western yet enjoyable to listen to. Folks were boot scooting, so maybe more country western. Mike the doorman was super personable and helpful. He happily provided the WIFI password and was super engaging. In addition, it is important to note the cover was free until 9 pm. The crowd was a mix bag...locals, tourists, and musicians who love live music. Austin is affectionately known as the "Live Music Capitol of the World". Great music...great time!
