One of several "unpaying" roommates at The Villages

Make sure you read this review before moving in. Just like you will read in some of these other reviews the outside looks fine till you start living there. We had a cockroach problem which I noticed the second night we moved in. She was walking out of the utility closet, literally the size of my hand. Then after that I got a beetle infestation. Pest control said that they needed to fix the gaps in the windows and balcony door. Management never approved it. In the hallways you will see cockroaches walking around like they are tenants. Someone told me the parking lot at night becomes the walking dead of roaches. Oh and then there is the fact that you are very close to Eastway (aka, think East L.A.) I would just hear helicopters and squads of cops in the parking lots, even saw coroners van once. Since there are no real effective security gates I also noticed the neighbors who live in the houses nearby come and use the pool, so you are paying for amenities that people off the street are coming to use. Also for the barista you cannot place your order beforehand, you have to be physically present. The wait times typically would be 10 to 15 minutes, at that point I just gave up and left. I will say maintenance and most of the concierge guys are friendly but management was horrible. If you ended up in this flytrap and want to break out of your lease: 1.) It is up to management's discretion whether you will incur a penalty of paying 2 or 3 months rent. We had to keep calling them. If they do agree to release you then the time clock begins immediately so you better start packing asap. 2.) Electricity needs to be canceled on the last day of your lease otherwise you get charged an early termination fee of $100. Yup, good times

It's beginning to look a lot like

Ask the Community - The Village at Commonwealth

Considering the Village, can someone tell me how the surrounding neighborhood is ? Safe to walk home alone at night?

I have lived here for over 4 years and know every area surrounding it. I had no idea it was such an unsafe area, please be careful. The previous comment is not correct. If you want to walk past 9pm you are NOT safe. Please never walk alone at night.…

I recently moved out, only because I ended up finding my next home, but lived at Encore for two years and it is 5 stars. From the staff to the maintenance to the amazing amenities Encore delivers. I can only say I am surprised by some reviews, but if you are looking for an apartment for a limited period, or extended, call them. Just a few things I will highlight: Rooftop Pool, Saturday morning brunches for residents only, from Reid's, Krispie Kreme, The Flying Biscuit and others, including some amazing coffee food trucks. Again, worth considering if you're in the apartment search!

As so often happens, it was for the best. This disgusting germ spreading pest removed any doubts about leaving if the other situations hadn't. I've always been told with respect to cockroaches/roaches, if you see one there are more that you aren't seeing. I was just comfortable with knowing what to expect here (and moving is a pain), but that's not a good enough reason to stay given how I've been treated, and I'm ignoring how I was treated my previous residency here. In any event, finally saw it last night crawling across my bathroom wall & smashed it with my broom. The Zevo I'd nearly emptied on it didn't work...at all. Unfortunately, I can't give this community more than 2 stars because of my experiences of late and an ongoing one where it was implied I was the cause of the trash vendor's behavior. I'd posted a review to Apartments.com using their job role not names, but it was rejected. So much for that site's impartiality.

My neighbors have gotten upset with me for recording and taking pics of the scenery on my balcony and threw very disturbing items on my balcony. Curtains, a white paper towel and a rope as if they were trying to send a racist message. The balconies (depending on where you live) are very close together and if you are at the end of your balcony taking pics or recording and your neighbor has their blinds open, they will get upset with you even though you ain't paying them no mind. Smh.. If I was considerate of my neighbors, I would just close my blinds. After all... that's why we have them. Unfortunately, some people are just mean and racist. They also called and complained about noise once from my apartment. We were out on the balcony that night, 3 people using our "outside voices". The office staff is never the same. So many people have come and gone which makes it very disheartening to go in there at times and most of them have not been very polite. Ben is the only consistent and polite person that I have encountered that makes this place feel like HOME. The concierge has always been very pleasant and helpful and always makes it feel like HOME. I've had a few maintenance issues, but they were all resolved. I'm not a complainer and I understand with an apartment community, things will break and need fixing, you may hear neighbors if the walls are thin or you're out on your balcony and since it's uptown Charlotte "NOISE" is inevitable. So; overall the Vue is a great place to live other than occasional mean neighbors or mean front office staff.

The staff in the leasing office are the most amazing people. Sarah and Jamie will always take care of you and make sure you are comfortable. They will know you by name and will genuinely care about what's going on with you. During COVID my hours were cut and they worked with me and I'm forever grateful for that. The grounds are kept clean and Maintenance staff are amazing as well. It's a great area and everything is walking distance. The only reason why I moved is because I got a new job and transferred to another Camden property in another state. But if I were to stay in Charlotte I would have definitely renewed my lease. If you are looking for a great place to call home, I would recommend Camden gallery every time.

Genuinly a terrible experience living here…read more From my staff neglecting responsibilities to keep people from breaking into the pool late at night and being loud drunk assholes til 3am (and not punishing them despite having video evidence I'd submitted), to moisture & mold problems that destroyed half my belongings and still being told I'd have to pay a termination fee + 2 months rent (even after they admitted they where at fault), I'd finally had enough to leave. Was ok when I'd moved in staff wise, but has gone steadily down hill since late 2020. Zero emergency assistance when I've called in, a terrible "community website" you have to use to make payments & interact with your online account that refuses to accept external renters insurance, even when submitted to the front desk 6+ times to the point where they're trying to bill me for it on termination. I genuinely have nothing good to say about this place aside from it's location origionally being appealing upon move in, but after living there for a week even you quickly realize that everything in the apartment is literally GLUED together, not even screwed in/nailed in, so they can easily rennovate when people move in/out. Stuff started falling apart, and I could never take a bath due to black gunk coming back up the pipes. Oh, also the entire first floor smells like garbage due to the garbage room shoot constantly being clogged since they lack a dumpster, despite paying for "Vallet garbage" on a monthy basis. Also, there is no compromise if you say don't own a car, and don't want to pay for a parking space. Still gotta pay up. It feels like the stress living here over the past 2 years has caused me will take years off my life, if the mold exposure hasn't already anyway. The thing that finally set me off to get out of there and write this review, was coming back to my apartment after being away for a while taking care of my mother as she was battling cancer, to find that my usual stuffy/moist apartment felt like a swamp and reeked of mold. With mold caking the walls, and having grown into many of my belongings. I managed to salvage some stuff, but over half my closet had to be thrown out, bed+mattress gone, kitchen ware other furniture peices, etc. It clearly wasn't in a livable state, hell I could barely breath in there, and was left with a cough for days after. Naturally, when I tried to call the front desk on the matter, no one responds, so when I finally get ahold of someone in Texas, they inform me that there is absolutely zero chance I can even get anyone in the building to acknowledge the state of my apartment until monday (was Saturday around 4pm at the time), and with no offer of alternative accomidations. So I salvaged what I could, and got out of there asap. The molding issue was later confirmed to be the AC unit locked behind a maintence access only door that happened to blow shit all the time into my apartmetn. As if this wasn't annoying enough that I'd have to clean up the dust it'd blow in, apparently if it's fan was left running to long it's moisture removal system can't empty properly and ends up kicking all that moisture back into the air... Acting like a humidifier, in an apartment with already minimal ventilation. Also, did you know that in the state of NC apartments are not required to inform residents of prior molding issues? I didn't. I do now, and I wouldn't wish this issue on my worst enemy. TLDR: Avoid Camden properties if you don't want to be reduced to a miserable mess from your living situation. Can say I'm finally out of the rental game now, and am significantly happier not having to put up with all this BS. Oh, and for reference, I'd previoustly rented at 3 other locations, so It isn't as though I'm simply an inexperienced renter who has only recently become disillusioned with the industry, but the poor practices and abysmal state of customer service/care at the Camden Gallery stand out as the worst set of living experiences I have had by far. Wasn't able to cover everything in this review, though I hope to prevent at least a few people from falling into the Camden's trap. Find literally anywhere else.
