Had a nice quick pit stop at this brewery/restaurant on a road trip. Shared a beer sampler to get a taste of their most popular beers and enjoyed most of the options. I think the imperial IPA was our fav. We shared the Buffalo cauliflower as an app and the big cranberry salad. It was plenty filling and perfect for an afternoon snack. Wanted to enjoy this place. However left with amazement, disappointment and utter lack of professionalism. Start with the food it was ok. Nothing wow or great just ok. Flavor on the food was just lacking. Even the Vermont cheddar cheese was bland and only a whisper of sharpness. The home made chips good but lacked anything special. The true problem of this place is the ownership/management. We went there little after it opened. To see a table with a 5 gallon bucket of utensils and servers doing their side work on a table you have to walk past to get to anywhere in the seating area. Then we come to the management/owner. My biggest pet peeve is doing the books or daily paperwork in the guest area. You have an office or a place away from your guests. Not in full view and with in ear shot of your guests. And not in a place where sound carries. The BIGGEST complaint is the language. You are the leader of your staff. You set an example for the behavior and attitude of your staff. Dropping F-BOMBS and other vulgar language is not at anytime acceptable. Clearly the servers knew it and didn't thankfully follow your lead. This is NOT your buddies garage or basement. You are having people come in and hearing your language and seeing and clearly hearing your behavior I can not recommend going here. If it was based on food maybe. Came in on a slow Sunday evening. Waited for fifteen minutes before deciding to leave when my boyfriend and i saw three sets of people come in after us and get their orders taken. Waitress walked past us repeatedly.. as our menus sat on the table and we continued to wait. This is why small businesses go out of business. She was very nice and accommodating with tastes to see what we would like. We had a round of their pumpkin beer with the sugar ring, yum! For lunch we started with the Bavarian pretzel ( hot and buttery)! We also had the sweet and spicy Brussels sprouts which were really good as well. For our meal, I ordered the Big Mikes steak burger which had cheddar cheese and their smokehouse bacon. It was awesome served with fries. A really good local Pub that makes very good Pub food. No foodies here, but great execution. Had the French Onion soup which was basic but delicious. I had the southwest chicken sandwich which was cooked just right - lettuce and tomato were fresh. I find many places make chicken rubbery or really dried out - Madison did a great job. Onion rings were spot on - not fast food crap. Wife had Salad with Salmon and she commented how good the Salmon was. Had a nice beer called Mike's Irish Red. Service was friendly and competent!! I've never had Country Fried Steak until I visited the Madison Brewing Company in Bennington recently. I can't say why it took me so long. It wasn't what my doctor ordered but it was delicious. I visited on a weeknight -- I think it was Tuesday--and all of Bennington seemed to be hopping. Nightlife in Bennington is not something I was familiar with. There were long lines outside restaurants at 6pm and 7pm. Motorists were fighting for parking spaces along Main St. I went with a friend and our wait was about 15 or 20 minutes. We were seated at a high table near the bar. When I saw the steak on the menu, I had to try it. The mash potatoes and broccoli were great, too. Actually, the meal was so big that I took half of it home. I ate the rest the next day. The staff was super nice that includes the hostess, servers and those behind the bar. I'd recommend Madison Brewing. If most Tuesday nights are anything like that one, I'd suggest starting out earlier. read more

The food here was absolutely fantastic! There is a wide variety on their menu, so there is something for everyone! The server we had was super friendly! Could not have been nicer. Came here after a late summer apple picking adventure. Boy I am glad we did. We had the truffle tots (special), mad Vermont melt and the Garlic Parm Burger. Been here a number of times for beer and food. The beer is always good. Tasty and interesting IPAs and porters. The maple salad dressing and some of the appetizers are also great. I have had mixed experiences with the food. I've gotten the cottage pie a few times and often it's tender and juicy and just as often the vegtables are hard and the taste is sort of bland. I liked the French dip though, but miss the steak sandwich that used to be on the menu. Overall recommend the drinks and would recommend the food if it were just a but now consistent. Gets pretty busy and loud but that's not a problem for me. Never had a problem with service. read more

I have an informal rule that I want to be able to spend as much time at a place as it would take me to drive to and from it. But I would have no issues driving here regardless of the amount of time. This is a downtown Bennington gem. You have several seating options, my preference was at the bar, where all the beer selections are displayed on a large monitor, with additional information. I appreciated having a number of darker beer options, and was instantly hooked on the Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout. My drinking buddy selected IPAs, and he also had distinct favorites also. We did not order food, but the people next to us did, so I got a great look at the sandwiches. They were huge and looked oh so good. There's a nice ambiance here as well. Now I need more reasons to go to or through Bennington! read more

This is my go-to place for lunch in Downtown Bennington. Easy parking in the back. It has a very good and broad selection of foods. The burger is excellent (although the gluten-free bun could be better, at least they have one). The salads are excellent and fresh. It is known for its beer, but sadly I live a gluten free life. So no beer for me. I enjoy the space. It is sort of a modern industrial chic look that really works. My one regret is that they offer only Lipton tea. How about a better brand? Maybe some decaf too? After a fun night xc skiing under the stars at Viking Nordic Center we drove down through a too busy Manchester and then stumbled into this chill spot in Bennington for a late dinner. The staff was friendly, the vibe was casual and we ordered a couple good local IPAs, some onion rings and entrees. The food came out fast and hot. The rings were handmade and delicious, so good that my family ate most of them before I could even get a photo . Fish tacos were fresh but a bit overloaded with salsa. Could have used more cilantro or another flavor note. My son devoured the tender pot roast and commented on the nicely al dente fresh broccoli on the side. Hub got the country fried steak (his restaurant mantra is to always get what you wouldn't make at home) and commented on the deliciously rich mashed potatoes. Convient location on Main St (Rt 9) near thecorner of Rt 7 in Bennigton, VT. Open 7 days a week Mon-Sat 11:30-9:00PM, Sun 11:30-8:00PM. We only found on street parking. Two floors, the upper overlooking the brew tanks. Very busy at 1pm on a Tue. We found 2 seats at the bar and were greeted by Casey J who took our drinks order (a 3 Amigos Mexican style beer - excellent & a Rosati pinot grigio - very good) They offer 13 beer choices-lagers, ales, stouts & a witbier. Eight beer sampler is only $9. I had the the grilled cheese & bacon on sourdough with a steaming mug of hearty tomato soup - perfect value combo ($13). My wife had the spinach artichoke sandwich - pesto, spinach, artichoke hearts, tomato, & mozzarella on multigrain bread ($16) - very fresh & tasty. Just the right banana and clove flavor that I was expecting. The peanut butter stout I chose for "dessert" was also good. For main course, I had two appetizers. The first was their fried Brussels sprouts. A good portion and quite tasty. Definitely shareable. The "main" of the two was their "No Bones About It," a half order of their buffalo chicken tenders. They arrived with cheese on top and blue cheese dressing and celery (I asked for no carrots). This is probably going to be the down payment on my cardiologist's new car, but it was delicious and definitely keto friendly. Good service and the wifi worked well. My sister and I came to Madison Brewing for our lunch when passing by. We had been there several times before, hence the return visit. The pub is fairly large and we were quickly seated at a nice table by the window. Our server, Conan was very attentive. After taking our order, our beer and food were delivered with a minimal wait. He checked on us frequently and made our visit pleasant. Thanks, Conan! Jane had a Vanilla Porter that she liked. I had a pint of the French Toast Brown which was a little too syrupy for me, but would probably be a good breakfast beer. We got 2 sandwiches (Turkey Cranberry Melt & Killer Club) which we shared, as we frequently do. They were both delicious! We parked on the street, but I think there's a parking lot in the back. Local finally biting the bullet and giving the point blank review you've earned after two decades of less than stellar experiences and multiple I guess we'll give them one more shot visits. You need to choose your hosts more carefully. The blonde attempting this task made eye contact, ignored us for a bit, took our name, and told us 5 minutes. We wait. She then proceeds to try and seat the party of two that came in after us. When they tell her we were first she looks at us, looks at them, and says "Well, we have a different thing going on right now." Walks away. Comes back and again tries to seat the other party. All four of us exchange looks, they decline again, and tell her they will not be comfortable at the high top she's trying to seat them at. She rolls her eyes, looks at us and says "I guess you guys can follow me." We're sat at said high top in the corner near the window that would definitely not have accommodated the two guests she was determined to seat before us. When warily trying to decide what to order after the seating ordeal, due to overcooked burgers, inedibly spicy tacos, incorrect sides etc served in the past...we settled on no bones. Easy and hard to mess up right? Wrong. Both dishes had a very long hair discovered mid meal. Mine had almost no sauce. The waitress came to check on us, saw the hairs, said nothing...but did mention that my tenders had barely any sauce and would I like more? I let her know that we would not be finishing the meals due to the DNA discovery. No offer to comp, nothing... Mike...I know you're active on here, I don't have time to write a full dissertation about all of the things that have gone wrong in the past. I'd say do better, but you've proven that you're incapable. On top of that...you had a stellar chance when Mike came over from MOK. We were perplexed and elated to look forward to some consistency in food quality for once...and you blew it bc you wouldn't let him touch the menu. The hard to find good help excuse doesn't fly anymore. We won't be back, and we'll be happily spreading the word as to why over beers far above the mediocrity that you serve. Our last dinner while in the area on vacation and it was great. I was worried at first we walked in and there was a lot of people waiting. I mean with a 4 year old sitting around waiting is not something he would do lol. Luckily we were able to just grab a table in the bar area and everything was great. So.... We're on the way back to New Hampshire from Christmas with family in the Philly area after braving the post-holiday traffic that turned the NJ Turnpike, every Hudson River crossing, and every northern-bound highway into parking lots.... And a detour towards the NY Turnpike that had us cross Vermont towards Bennington. We didn't make a single stop in the traffic madness, we just wanted to leave it behind. So we're now famished as we finally ended up crossing the NY/Vermont state line. Breathe deeply and enjoy the clean air as we look to a place to have dinner. After the harrowing drive, we were looking forward to a nice sit-down dinner. And as we descended into Bennington, we looked at Yelp for a place. Madison Brewing was it. We readily found street parking and went inside. We were sort of early, about 5:30 PM, and were seated right away. We did notice that 20 minutes later, it seemed like the town descended on the pub. Our service person was a younger waitress from the local community who made us feel right at home. The ambiance was friendly, genuine home town. The first thing we noticed was a great beer menu. I am an IPA guy so I was in celestial glory. Their selections ranged from the deep, double IPA that was called "F Bomb" to several others and the one I ordered, the Donstreet IPA. My other half ordered a delicious Woddford Red and it was also VERY tasty. We ordered the same plate each of us, the Tavern Classic Burger, a half pound luscious, decadent, delicious burger with charred onions on Brioche. As well as their Truffle Fries. The charred onions were beautifully caramelized and it added an amazing taste to the burger. The fries were just amazing. Right in downtown Bennington. You can't go wrong. Superb evening. read more
