This was a pretty average pizza place overall. I went in expecting a little better quality, especially based on what I'd heard. My first impression wasn't great because the restaurant could use a more thorough cleaning. There were several open tables when we arrived, but all of them were still dirty and hadn't been cleared off yet, so we had to wait before we could sit down. As for the pizza, it's decent, but nothing particularly memorable. One thing they do get right is the ranch dressing, it was actually really good. That said, they bring out so much of it that it almost feels like they're encouraging you to cover up the flavor of the pizza. We also ordered some appetizers. Unfortunately, the fried mac and cheese bites were disappointing. The filling tasted very similar to boxed Kraft mac and cheese that had simply been breaded and deep-fried. I wouldn't order those again. One highlight is the outdoor patio overlooking the river. It's a great place to relax, enjoy the fresh air, and have a few beers with your pizza. I enjoyed Slow Rise! I was visiting Waco for the first time and went out with a very large group for lunch. We sat out by the river. The pizza was good and I was just happy to have that and some ranch on a sunny day by the water. My slices did take a long time to prepare, I was the last to receive my food in my group of 20+ people. But I assume they just had to make a fresh pizza so it's fine. Woman working the register didn't seem to care. Guy who finally gave me a refund told me to calm down. No apology nothing. I decided to email the company as well. And this is the response I got. "I issued a couple refunds on Sunday, and I always issue an apology anytime things go wrong. I also typically try to find a solution with the customer unless they are treating me poorly while I'm trying to help them. I always explain why a wait or mistake occurred unless I'm completely uninformed on the situation. We did have a large party on Sunday that put our kitchen behind a considerable amount, and had our staff communicated with each other properly, we would have posted a wait on the front counter to let customers know. I apologize that we failed in this regard, but if I'm not mistaken I promptly gave you a refund. If you feel this was unsatisfactory, as it was your request, then I'm not sure what to do further. I will be talking to my staff about proper communication during busy times, and I would be greatly appreciative if you gave our restaurant another chance. I'll even discount your order, just ask for me while you're at the counter" All this does is blame me, I was firm that I wanted a refund. Didn't make a fuss just said I need a refund I have been here for an hour with no food. Lack of accountability is astonishing, please don't waste your time here. We went here (group of 8) on Friday night. We ordered right away and went outside to eat. It took forever to get our food. Then when we got our food it wasn't what we ordered. Sent it back and got a crappy burnt gluten free pizza with bare toppings on it. It was ridiculous. We ended up eating 2 pieces and throwing it away. We had to wait almost an hour for it too. The other pizzas and salads came out way before ours and everyone had eaten before we even got our first pizza which was completely wrong. Then waited another 35 minutes for the second one that should have just been thrown away. The customer service sucked from cashier to wait staff. A great place to enjoy a casual meal outdoors! It was relaxing being right next to the water. We mainly chose this place because it has a dog-friendly patio and we were passing through Waco on our way back to Houston, but we're really glad we came here! It's a counter service, seat-yourself kind of place that seems to be great for large groups! They have two different patio decks with lots of seating and they were pretty packed when we showed up on Sunday during lunch hour. They have vegetarian options for their pizzas! Additionally, they have salads available and vegetarian friendly appetizers. The pizza took a while to come out, but it was busy and also, I believe, cooked in a traditional pizza oven, so no harm, no foul! The crust on the pizzas was a slender white with just the right crispiness. The edges were full and held just the right amount of flavor. The grilled cheese called for a bit more impact to the flavor category - but hit the spot for what I needed. I can see that parking would become somewhat of a concern on a busy day - even on this mid-day visit the available parking was over half filled. I am never one to write reviews but this location disgusted me. For starters, they have one person working the counter during the busiest hours with a line out the door. I ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza to go. After waiting 55 minutes, I approached the counter and asked where my food was, and they brought me two reheated slices of cheese. There was absolutely no sauce on it... so I overpaid for cheese bread that I waited an hour for. As I was half way through my meal, I looked down and spotted 2 hairs cooked into the pizza. We ordered caprese salad appetizer and it was not a salad but actual caprese on toast which was even better. For dinner we split a 14" ricotta cheese pizza and it was cooked perfectly, very tasty with fresh basil and balsamic drizzle.
