Came on a Thursday morning as soon as they opened. We were the only guests there for the full hour we were there. The server was quick to attend to us and checked on us regularly. For food we got the eggs florentine, which was good and the sweet taco which was very delicious! I recommend getting the pancake tacos there. I really like the set up on the seating at this place. I walked in with a party of 5, and I already knew upon entering that this place would not be great. There was nobody to greet us when we walked in, which is usually fine, but it took nearly 5 minutes and a lot of us awkwardly standing around until a customer told us that the waiter will be with us in a second. A customer. We sit down, and are ignored for minutes until we have to ask for the menus. We are then ignored for nearly 20 minutes until we have to ask to place our order. We also had to ask for water a total of five times. My two friends ordered coffee, which basically inedible and tasted like burnt rubber. When they asked for another cup and asked why it tasted so bad, we learned from the waiter that the coffee had been brewed LAST NIGHT. WHAT?? We walked in at 12:30 pm and were served coffee from LAST NIGHT. After getting fresh cup, the coffee was better, but it wasn't even taken off the bill. The food took forever to get out, and we were starving by that point. Luckily the food was pretty good, but we again had to continue asking for basic necessities. We witnessed the waiter wipe his nose with his hand and wipe it on his jeans, and he later came by and placed our utensils down with bare hands. While I'm unsure if he washed his hands, the thought was still disgusting. We spent nearly an hour waiting for our food, and I ended up having to chow down without having time to savor it because we had plans after. It was also basic diner food, and my pancakes were unimaginative. After all that wait and the old coffees, they didn't even comp the coffees!! I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I wanted to like this place, and I don't have any major complaints, but it's not somewhere I'd personally return. The food wasn't bad, just underwhelming for a restaurant setting. We ordered the avocado toast and avocado omelet, and it felt very basic. It was essentially toast with sliced avocado and not much else in terms of seasoning or flavor. The omelet leaned heavily on the avocado to the point where that was the only flavor coming through. Honestly it all felt like something I could have easily made at home. I think the main disconnect for me was the pricing. It's comparable to other brunch spots in the area that offer more creative menus and more thoughtfully designed spaces. We actually ended up here because those places had long waits, and after visiting, I can understand why this one was quieter. Overall, it's an okay spot if you're in a pinch, but for the price, I'd probably choose somewhere else next time. read more

This cozy, rectangular diner was near our hotel. The surrounding area is a pleasant enough walk, but yes, as SF is infamous for having a large homelessness problem, we did see people struggling on the streets in the area. The customer service was really good and friendly! We ordered the shrimp benedict, three sweet pancake tacos (Oreo, s'mores, and sweet), the San Francisco omelette, healthy smoothie, and house coffee. The coffee was delicious and the healthy smoothie was sweet and tangy. For the shrimp benedict: it's hard to go wrong with a benedict and hollandaise sauce. The omelette had chunks of beef inside. Honestly, when I order an omelette I would want the filling to be mixed in the egg rather than just folded in between the eggs. The pancake tacos don't taste extraordinary, but the thought of eating a pancake like a taco: very fun and out-of-the-ordinary! read more

Their menu was posted outside and looked reasonable. When entering, the place is well lit with a bar and a dining area. You can sit anywhere, so I decided on the bar section since I liked the lighting (it's got sunlights). The place is pretty quiet. It seems locals frequent this place as its customers tend to sit back and enjoy the meal, with a book in hand. Service is fairly quick, and since the ambiance leans towards the relaxed, they're happy to make small talk or leave you alone with your book. I would come definitely come back. read more

Tried a few things - milk shake (too thick), burger and sandwhich - both came with fries but serving was small than I expected. Also tried their famous pancake tacos - it was okay, looks better than the taste I think. Fries were okay not that hot when we got ours. The one thing to note is that their menu prices are not updated!! I ordered based on menu price and when I got the check the prices were a few dollars more. It's okay but I just didn't like that they didn't say anything or update their menu. Parking was okay around the corner. Food was mediocre. I definitely want to try the brunch spot on the corner that had a huge line. When we got here there were open tables, not very full. Intimate space in the back for a cozy date or hang out. I love the Village. It's my neighborhood Cafe and breakfast spot of choice. It is also the home of the pancake tacos. You're thinking what is pancake tacos? It's exactly what it says pancake tacos. They have savory versions consisting of vegan or chicken or beef tacos in a pancake or sweet ones consisting of strawberries and bananas. And the second one is s'mores which has Nutella, graham cracker pieces and whipped cream. I kid you not. They're sweet decadence but they're worth it. You can get three for $15 or $6 per one. My other favorite is the chicken nachos for $15 or the chilaquiles for $18 or the quesadilla with chicken for $18. It's all about the quality. And the steamy hot food and the friendly restaurant manager Erik's charm and customer service focus that really makes experience holistic and memorable. Whenever I come in I feel like I'm part of their extended family and a great way to start out the day. Oh yeah, the bottomless coffee unlimited for $3 is super strong. Finally! Something different! The village is such a vibe!! A little escape from the city. I love this place! The food from Karibu East Africa was so exotic and delicious at the same time. Granted, this is my first time having East African Food and it did not disappoint, it was such an FUN experiment! OMG! The Mishkakis (beef skewers) were my favorite! So tender and juicy, while the samosa was so crispy + tasty- perfect with the ginger sauce. The Chips Masala was so addicting, imagine french fries + ketchup with a hint of masala.
