They are completely donation based. It's not that crowded because I don't think too many people know about it, but there are plenty of tables. They also have plant decorations which gives nice vibes to the place. SERVICE Service is great! The guy who helped me and made my drink, Noah is super friendly! Gave a great recommendation of the matcha. He made the matcha well and offered that if it didn't taste good, he wouldn't make it again free of charge. Just a very personable guy and so so sweet. Sometimes I will visit this Mardels location and always wondered what this gem was next door but never got around to checking it out. I absolutely love coffee and had not had my daily coffee so I decided to make a visit with my daughter. I just have to say the gentleman that was taking our order and made our drinks was simply amazing! I wish I had remembered his name. I truly hope he sees this and I just want to say thank you for your hospitality. You welcomed us in and explained everything with patience and kindness. It was probably 1 of the most pleasant and peaceful coffee visits I have had in a very long time, and not to mention my coffee was absolutely perfect. I do not live near this location but I do plan on visiting more often and checking out the wonderful church that it is located in! Thank you again! 100000/10 recommend! read more

What a tranquil and soothing coffee shop! This place was slightly tricky to find... my map pointed me to an empty store front, and I was worried this place had closed. Luckily, I soon found The Vive tucked away in a relatively nondescript building across from Hobby Lobby. The decor here was nice. High ceilings, houseplants, polished concrete, some cozy chairs with plentiful outlets nearby and a few tables. I was tempted by the drink special called "Betty White" a carefully crafted white mocha, but opted for a flat white instead. Everything is on a "suggested donation" basis, so I assume you can ask for a discount if you're low on funds or pay extra if you're feeling flush. This place is in a church lobby, but from the ambiance, you'd never guess it. All the coffee beans are from Hope Coffee, which goes to benefit low-income families in Honduras. read more

When I am back in Garland, it is always difficult for me to study because there are very few study-friendly coffee shops in the area. I came across this area after finding it on google maps. This hidden gem is tucked away behind an urban air trampoline park area. There are no prices on the menu, but this is because Vive is completely donation-based! As an avid coffee shop customer and grad student myself, this is such a refreshing concept with coffee being anywhere from $5-7 these days. They may provide you a suggested donation amount, but you can donate more/less depending on your liking/financial situation. They are also connected to the church next door. The place itself has a large open space and big tables, which I appreciate -- especially for someone who tends to camp out at coffee shops and has a decent amount of material with them. There are also outlets near every table. The barista was super sweet. She was very friendly and patient with me when explaining their menu items to me. Parking is plentiful, so that is not a concern at all. They are also very generous with the coffee that they provide. I got a hot caffe latte with oat milk, and the cup height goes up to 3/4 of the height of my 13.3" Macbook screen. I donated the suggested amount for $4 for this, so for the size of this coffee and cost, it is almost unheard of! I came in on a Friday afternoon, so it was quite empty, but I also think that this is because not many know about this hidden gem yet. Hopefully that will change soon because they definitely deserve the attention. :) The coffee is a bit more diluted than I would have liked but for the cost and large open space, I will definitely be back! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! The coffee is great but I'm even more impressed with the fact that it is donation based (prices are "suggested donation amounts") and the money goes to support the farmers AND provides clean water, shelters, and education in Latin America. The staff is super friendly but that's probably expected seeing as I'm pretty sure they all are also a part of Living Way Church which meets in the same building. For drinks, I love the Mexican Mocha or the Chai Tea Latte, although I do have a bit of a sweet tooth tbh. Pro-tip: the first time coming here I mistakenly parked in the Mardel / Hobby Lobby parking lot but none of the businesses really didn't cared that I just parked and walked into the next parking lot over for The Vive. read more
