Bill and his staff have always been so helpful in guiding me in my purchases to ensure I get the best equipment for my needs. I am working with Bill right now to purchase a new board from them even though I live in Scottsdale, AZ now. He's been great steering me away from companies that aren't producing great stuff anymore, and introducing me to better options that I will enjoy more. I called the store and spoke to a gentleman who had the manager call me to troubleshoot. Luke was amazing. He went above and beyond what I expected to ship me a bike to where I am in California. He also has a major integrity issue and in my opinion taking advantage of people by forcing them to buy two sets of steel. Jay's communication is terrible and doesn't respond back. I then asked for a refund and he tried lying to me and telling me orders are 2-3 weeks out when I intitally spoke to him. I canceled the order 5 days later and he lied to me trying to tell me that he was expediting my order when I never asked and tried to charge me an 18% restocking fee for nothing. He then said he initiated a refund over $500 on 5/19/2025 and it's 06/12/2025 and I still have not received anything. I then told him to just Zelle me back the money. Jay has an excuse for everything and is not an honorable person in my opinion. I am still without any refund after he assured me it could take up to 14 days. It's well past the 14 days and still no refund. It's one excuse after another from owner Jay for steel he never shipped and I have not received. Avoid doing business with this arrogant owner at all costs. It's nonsense excuse after nonsense excuse. I strongly encourage everyone not to support this small business owner who is not honest and from my experience is a pathological liar.

I then found myself on my way to return my skates to this box store and took a drive to see Jay. They are loaded for bear right now with winter stock - vast arrays of skates, hockey gear, skis, snowboards, and accessories. They tend at this location to stock ONLY what is demanded for the season, so if you're selling something from an off-season or are looking for a bargain tennis racket in November, you will be disappointed. They do full-season rentals on equipment, which seems to me like a great way to wade into a new sport. Their buyback scheme is as follows: when you bring a used item in, they will price it. If you leave it on consignment to sell, you will get 50% of the price, when it sells. If you want to take trade-in credit right away, you get 40% of the value. If you want to get cash on the nose right away, you get 30% of the value. I looked at the range of conditions and availability for skates (which we were shopping for today) and the price range seemed quite decent for what they had. I waited for our skates to be sharpened, and observed them helping some skiing and snowboarding customers and handling a buy-back transaction, and they seemed very thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. The used prices aren't ultrabargains, but it's difficult to really find a specialty store that deals with used goods. You have your thrift stores, used car dealers, and other than that you're left with Craigslist and garage sales for the most part. So I think this is a pretty good niche, and for the ever-growing and changing-of-interest kids, a great great resource. They'll have to wow me on repeat visits for me to get up to the lofty five stars, but a promising four stars for now.

You can't make this stuff up. I traveled past many of Connecticut's finer equipment dealers to get here, because they had such a good deal on the leg pads I had my eyes on for months. Everywhere else on earth seemed to want $650 for them; I paid $540, a great deal in a sector of sporting goods that rarely sees deep discounts. The shop itself is relatively small, but still has a goodly amount of stuff in it. I'd say that if you're looking for something specific, call ahead and have them order it for you, like I did. And they'll do all the hockey basics here - sharpen your skates, sell you some tape, fix your equipment, and so on. A 3/8" hollow on my skates and a 2005 Chianti? The perfect combination.
