I'm bummed to update this review with a lower rating but my overall experience at the W Nail Bar has gone downhill over the last year so it's a fair assessment. In a nutshell, the quality of the work done by the nail techs just isn't up to par. It seems as though they are hiring very green techs and they aren't receiving any training, therefore the quality hasn't stayed satisfactory. This last time the work was really bad. It took two hours for a basic gel mani and then I still didn't receive the full service. I was too shy to say anything or make a scene while I was there, so I waited until after I left. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I emailed in to try and get them fixed and even then it then took almost a week of going back and forth, trying to book a new appointment... and they eventually ended up refunding me because they didn't have availability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That then meant that I had to figure out how to get them fixed elsewhere. This happened to my cousin the same exact week but at another location so I have a feeling it's across the board. Not sure if they are growing too fast or what, but it's a bummer. Highly recommend this salon and location!! I am always greeted with a smile and check in is easy. As soon as you walk in you feel welcomed. They have a huge selection of colors for both gel and regular polish. They even put together seasonal color palettes to help inspire your selections. The amount of glitter, stickers, stencils, nail art they have/can do is amazing and they're always adding to their collection. Whatever you want, they have it! I have seen many nail techs here and they are all great. They take their time, listen to requests, and check in throughout the process to make sure you're happy with their service. They are also kid friendly! My 6 yo daughter has had manicures and pedicures here and they are so patient, because as we know, sometimes kids fidget lol! Until this experience, I've never written a review for a company, and this update is unfortunately not a good one. To summarize, I had looked forward to treating myself before the holidays and went in excited to get a manicure with a specific color called Malaga Wine, a burgundy shade. It was an option in the front rack. However, when the technician went to find it, they couldn't locate the bottle with the color. Unfortunately, none of the other options were close to what I wanted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I let them know that I was happy to come back another time when they had it in stock and even arranged to see the same technician.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite my willingness to work with them, I was surprised to find when I got home that I was charged the full $78 for an appointment and service that didn't happen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I contacted their customer service, I was told I was being charged for canceling my appointment, which is baffling since I didn't cancel it--they were the ones unable to provide the service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was directed to email their support, but over a week passed without any response.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't until I posted a public review that I customer service emailed me saying that I could get a credit for using the same technician.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They then posted a public comment saying, "As a reminder, we require 24 hours notice for all cancellations....to protect our hard working teams and their ability to provide for their families..."[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This response is problematic for several reasons: 1. This "hardworking team" did not perform any service at all before charging my card $77. 2. I did not cancel my appointment. As above, it is absolutely baffling to me this is continuing to be misconstrued in this way. I showed up at my time slot, and your company could not perform the advertised service. While I understand that issues with stock can happen, W Nail Bar is a major corporation and should compensate their technician when the service couldn't be performed due to a salon issue--as opposed to gaslighting customers like myself into bearing the burden of these shortcomings. 3. I do not feel comfortable going back to the salon, to sit in close proximity to people who are morally capable of committing credit card fraud. read more

This is a very classy nail salon. It was my first visit, and I love the fact that they don't have those giant throne chair complexes with bumpy massage devices that I never liked. Instead you sit in a nice club chair, and there are copper basins where the water goes are in front of you. The prices are pretty high, but the pedicures are well done. I have two complaints: firstly, my daughter, and my book together, and even though when we arrived, there were three empty stations, the time they were ready to seat us, they had stuck someone in the middle seat so my daughter and I couldn't be together. Secondly, when you're paying over $55 for a pedicure, they should offer you complementary water or seltzer or even some wine to enhance the experience. Instead, you can purchase water or Starbucks, cold coffee drinks. All in all though the place is very clean and very nice. read more

If you were to read my review of the Short North W location, you'd probably be shocked that I even went back to the W. As you can see, when I decided to go back I stayed away from the Short North location, even though it's just down the street from me. I've been coming to this location for the past year now. I wanted my nails done before my bday and I was running out of time. I liked that W let me make an appt- something I wasn't used to at the other nail salon I frequented. I went in the night before my bday and loved my service so much, I haven't looked back! That first night, I was scheduled with Irelynn, but since then, I've seen Heather every month. Heather is awesome and always takes time with each service to ensure you get the best experience and that your nails will last. I always make it 4 weeks with minimal chipping (sometimes literally no chipping at all!). She also introduced me to matte nails which I didn't think I'd love, but now it's practically all I get. My favorite service with Heather was a a pedicure one morning before work. It was sooooo relaxing and she did a massage and everything. I remember it being so hard to leave from there and get started on my work day-- but it was divine! Heather also doesn't judge me for being a runner- I usually have at least one black toenail or one that's about ready to fall off. So appreciated- so take note if you are also a runner! She did a great job of balancing our conversation, but also allowing time for me to relax and enjoy the service, which I appreciated very much. If you're looking for a great mani / pedi and an hour that feels like you're spending time with a friend, you have to treat yourself at the W Nail bar by booking your appointment with Nicole! I've gotten my nails done so many times by her and they always come out SO cool. I always book her for a mani with simple nail art because she's so creative and I know whatever she does is gonna come out awesome. She's super detail-oriented and always checks to make sure you're happy with each step of a design before doing more. She's even wiped off a whole glitter design for me and let me pick a new glitter shade because I'm lowkey picky. I love getting to spend an hourish with her chit chatting, and love getting my nails done by her - I won't go to anyone else now! The W Nail bar itself is super cute and clean and totally insta vibes, btw! Their receptionists are always welcoming and the area to wait in is super cute. They offer you waters upon arrival, and this location has a permit, allowing you to BRING YOUR OWN ALCH! (but plz check before you go to other ones cause the W Nail locations inside of a DSW didn't have their permits last I checked). Parking can be a strug as there's not a dedicated lot, but just parallel on the street - you can do it! There are plenty of streets around that allow you to park for free and you could even go for a walk around Schiller Park or visit the neighboring businesses for some coffee, juice or plants! Go treat yourself to a mani/pedi, bring yourself some champagne, and settle in for some relaxation time asap. 1/28 UPDATE: Today, I was emailed a receipt and charged for services that I never received or had scheduled. I never booked an appointment for today to begin with and I was never contacted with confirmation that services were scheduled with my information. There are many other amazing nail places to go to in Columbus. Watch out for fraudulent card charges from the W, they don't have the customer's best interest in mind. I was really looking forward to my appointment but unfortunately experienced very poor customer service. The morning of my appointment there was a big snow storm and hazardous road conditions so I unfortunately had to cancel my appointment as it wasn't safe to drive. I made multiple attempts to call the location when they were open and nobody answered. The only way I was helped was through an automated text that said somebody would call me as soon as possible to help. I was never called by the location for a follow up. When I tried to contact customer service later that day they turned the lack of communication back on me saying I never replied to their message, which I had and provided screenshots to their team. In the end I never received an apology or additional assistance. I was charged for services I never received despite my multiple attempts to reschedule my appt and checking to see if the location was open during the storm. I saw someone post for this location that they offer "first time forgiveness" and this was never offered to me. It would've been especially helpful considering the weather was out of my control. Hopefully this isn't how they treat all of their customers! read more

I wanted to love this place! My cosmetologist best friend recommended it to me--so I definitely trusted her suggestion. The actual establishment is beautiful. I love the decor! The customer service was great as well. The service however was lacking. After 4 days, my nails look terrible. I'm even more upset that I spent $40 for my nails to look like this in 4 days and I could've paid $20 elsewhere and they would look great for about 2 weeks. I wanted to fall in love with this place so much. I wanted to be so excited when they announced they were opening a new salon here in my hood of German Village. I followed them online for many moons and liked their cool nail art/designs. Was even stoked to get something cool myself... They were such a disappointment for me. I have been in twice. The first time, my nail tech didn't spend a lot of time cleaning my cuticles.. if at all. And we probably spent a total of maybe 30min on both hands. My cuticles snagged on my clothes later that day and I went to home to finish cleaning them. Took me another 20minutes. The polish began to wear off the next day. :( I went in about a year later to another nail tech... I'm not even sure that I want to get into it honestly. The tech had just received a skin peel the day before and was itching like crazy the entire time, her skin was still fresh and peeling, and she also had a case of the sniffles from the itching or a cold coming on.. she couldn't decide. I didn't want to be rude - I just kept asking if she was alright. I meannnnnnnn she was red and constantly scratching and sniffing. :( This tech did a little better with the cuticles this go around but she still left me with some work to do when I got home. Pros: They're a cool trendy place solid tunes (not spa friendly) Cool copper pot basins for pedicures a massive wall of nail colors Cons: They've never cleaned my cuticles correctly Not sure how much experience the techs have had, they aren't as good as other places that i have been to where i haven't had to go home with "home work" left to clean on my own nails... that i just paid a crazy amount for.. There's no care No attention to detail The chairs are hella close to each other If you're looking for a quick place to go - they can do quick walk-ins. My nail tech was awesome and my nails look great. But I was left disappointed in a couple other areas. First, I was shocked by the price. I booked a package, the w gel mani and pedi for $80. Well, I didn't realize only the manicure was gel. So when I came in, they asked if I wanted gel for the Mani and pedi and I'm like ya. I thought that's what I booked so I didn't know why they were asking. Well apparently it's an extra TWENTY DOLLARS to upgrade to a gel pedi. Geese. That was a sick checking out that no one told me. Also, I felt it was hard to relax since people were cleaning and closing up around me the whole time. I guess that's partly my fault for booking a 7 o'clock appointment that would last until close. I know everyone wants to get out of there and go home to their families. I just felt kind of out of place, like get me out of here I want to go home, you want to go home, let's all get home. Again, I loved my nail tech. She did an excellent job, impeccable attention to detail and asked if I wanted to change my color before she cured the polish. And I did change it and she helped me pick a new color that was full coverage, I guess I picked a clear one. She did a great job and my nails look expertly manicured. With so many places to choose from, I'm not sure I'll come back. But I was happy they could fit me in at a time that worked for my schedule. I've been coming to this location for a while now. I've also been to a few other W Nail bars around Columbus and I will continue to go back! The W Nail Bar is always very clean which is important to me. I also love that they don't use drills and only do regular or gel polish. I recommend checking out their Instagram as well to see some examples and their vibe. It's easy to schedule online. My gel nails typically last 2-3 weeks. There was one time they did start to peel up after just a few days and I reached out and was able to get those few fixed for free which was great. Some tech are better than others but that's at any salon, you have to find who you like. They also redid the pricing and service options recently which better fits my needs for a quick gel mani. The German Village location is in a cute little walkable area of German village by Schiller Park, Stump, and Fox and the Snow and I enjoy coming to this area.
