Best to avoid this place. I've shopped here twice and got a strange vibe both times. The first time the salesperson was trying to push hard for a sale after dropping the price a few times in a few minutes. Made me question the quality and authenticity of the product. The second time I walked in wearing shorts and T-shirt and was ignored initially then greeted by a salesman who was too busy to hear what I was saying to him because he was paying attention to another customer across the store. I just laughed as I gripped the $10k I had in my pocket. Then I walked out. The weird vibe clicked on my second visit. Probably the worst experience I've had as a customer. Anywhere. None of the stores at South Coast compare to the snobbery and rudeness of this place. I must admit that when I go into watch shops, I usually just browse, but this time I was on a mission to find a rare green crystal Rolex Milgauss. I walk in and talk to a sales associate right away. He was younger and was actually pretty helpful. He said they didn't carry Rolex, but said he could try and track it down if I wanted. I politely declined because I wanted to try it on before buying... then some older guy comes up...no, butts in... acted like the owner, but I'm not sure. He asks me what I want, I say the Rolex and he says, oh, why do you want a Rolex, that's for old people... etc. Dude, don't knock a brand that the customer obviously values... and it's so not for old people... maaaaybe the datejust, but whatever. I play along and ask what he thinks is good...he says Omega, IWC, Hublot... okay, fair enough, but seriously, a lot of those brands' styles are "old" looking. And especially how he said Hublot all snobby-like...made me never want one of those because now every time i see it, I think jerk. He tries to sell me an Omega Planet Ocean Michael Phelps edition thing with Orange around the bezel... did not fit what i wanted at all. He asked if I wanted it and I said it wasn't for me. Then bluntly he says, okay, well when you're ready for a real watch, come back. goodbye. This fool just kicked me out of his pretentious watch store...I was wearing a pretty expensive watch and I knew what I was talking about.. I have no idea what his problem is... maybe he's bitter he doesn't have/lost his Rolex account. There are many other places to go for luxury timepieces. This place is horrible. read more

I stopped in here one day to get some work done on one of my watches. I think I was having a link removed, which they did quickly. As they were working on my watch, I decided to browse. Hmm, no Rolex watches - weird. But I did get drawn to the Baume & Mercier section. I started to look at these and tried a few on. Every watch I picked up the salesman told me the price and then said that he could sell it to me cheaper if I bought it now. I must have shown a real interest in one of them, which was about $7000, because he started dropping the price every 5 seconds. He got it down to about $3400 or so. I honestly felt like I was in Tijuana. They really go for the hard sale, similar to being in the finance office when buying a car. Nothing pisses me off more. They didn't make a sale and they also lost me as a customer from getting further work done on my watches and from buying new ones there. read more

This place might be a good stop for "browsing" purposes, only but that's it. Keep in mind that they don't carry the Omega line anymore starting ~ November 2010. I've been to this store several times and each time, the salesperson (Rob) was extremely pushy for a quick sale. Totally understand that the guy is trying to make a living but he was a snake to pressure me to buy, saying " you will make your husband proud by finding such a great bargain, buy it and surprise him!" That immediately turned me off, did he think i was an idiot?! He tried to sell me a Baume & Mercier ladies watch that has a white gold bracelet (as opposed to stainless steel). Interesting enough, I couldn't find the same model in any other store OR online ,and when I called the store on 11/16/10 to confirm the model, they gave me a wrong model line name. So either a white gold bracelet doesn't exist, or the salesguy who answered the phone is an idiot. Don't buy here, they don't deserve the business. read more

I don't know what to think of these guys anymore. I've taken my wife's watch in for battery changes 2 or 3 times in the past and have received good service. They do try to up-sell you on something while you are waiting, but I'm not the type of guy who make $5,000 impulse buys. I'd have given them 4 stars before my last visit. I took the same watch in for a new battery and this time they told me the quartz movement was no longer working (said they tried two different batteries). They said it needed to be sent off to Omega in Switzerland for a $675 overhaul. I politely declined and took it to another shop a few miles up the freeway. Guess what? They put in a new battery and $18 later it is running like a champ. So either these guys had a batch of bad batteries on hand or they were trying to scam me. Either way, I have no plans to return. read more

I have a Baum and Mercier watch, which I had taken to several local jewelers to find out why I could not set the time.... one jeweler told me I had to take the watch apart, because the stem was misaligned! I brought the watch in, and Rob simply showed me how to operate the stem, NO CHARGE. Excellent service, high end pieces, and if I am in the market for another watch, would definitely revisit this wonderful shop. I went in here to price an Omega watch. I knew which watch I wanted and did not need to browse. I was also dressed in my work clothes. The guy that negotiated with me did not play any games. He made a very reasonable offer to sell the watch at a VERY good discount [about 28% from retail]. Did not mess around and try to nickel and dime me on the price. Unfortunately, the watch I wanted looked like it had been in the case for a little while and they have a policy of selling watches out of the glass case [as most places do]. I ended up not getting the watch here only because I was able to find a place with fresh stock. My critique: they have a TON of VERY expensive watches in the store [Omega was toward the lower end of what they carry]; so I can see how they don't people browsing around the store. On the other hand, that is very customer-unfriendly to kick people out of the store [if the previous reviews are true]. There was another guy who chimed in [the owner maybe?] while I was negotiating the price; that guy was a bit overbearing with his banter, but did not bother me too much. Bottom line: If you know what you want and you want to go to a place that will give you a serious best offer, I would definitely go here. They are like the Soup-Nazi; except with watches. This is the little watch repair place next to Macy's in Westside Pavillion. Went here to get my battery changed in my car clicker and get the links removed from my new watch. The guy has great prices and is really nice and flexible. I had him originally take off 3 links and after he finished it, decided I wanted it to be looser.
