Admittedly we went to the Watershed Grill because it is used as Jack's bar in the Netflix Series "Virgin River" one of my wife's favorite shows. The place was pretty busy on a weekday but the staff was super friendly and efficient. The menu presented was described as a "reduced summer menu" so things like Brie and crab cakes were not offered. The menu was more traditional pub fare...burgers, fish and chips, etc. We decided to split apps amongst the three of us while sipping cocktails. Two of the apps were good but the short ribs were little fried bits of meat... not what we were expecting. The drinks were good and they has a decent beer selection. Things to know.... As mentioned above, all the food shown on the website is not available...at least when we went. Parking is at a premium because the lot is really small. We took the last spot when we went in. When we came out cars were stacked up in "no parking" zones. For you Virgin River touristas....Netflix uses the outside of The Water Shed in the show not the interior. The space inside is tiny....hence the name "Shed". It looks nothing like "Jacks Bar". I actually heard some patrons mentioning that fact. That said, almost every seat in the house has a view of the beautiful Squamish River which made our trip up from Bellingham Washington worth while. So...my description would be an almost dive bar and grill with decent food and drink, great employees and a million dollar view. If I lived near, I would be there regularly. read more

A must visit for anyone going to Whistler (it's just around 65 kms from Vancouver enroute to Whistler or some 58 kms south of Whistler in the town of Squamish) or anyone visiting Vancouver but wants to take a long scenic drive on route 99 Sea-to-Sky highway. Easy access from Sea-to-Sky highway and right on the banks of Squamish river, you may sight a few eagles while you dine their Quesadillas with onions, bell peppers, black beans, Cajun spice, cheddar and Monterey cheese served with salsa & sour cream or veggie burger with really delicious black bean, corn, carrot & onion patty with guacamole and house mayo. Been trying to come here all week but it has been impossible to find a place to park. Now I can see why! This is the perfect neighborhood dive, but with a good mix of pub grub and actually healthy food which you would hope for in the adventure capital of Canada. It's right on the river so the setting is perfect. I hear they even allow dogs on the patio which ups the awesome significantly. If I lived in Squamish, this would be trouble for me. read more

We had dinner at the Watershed last night for my dad Cy Dorras 97th Bday he and his wife live in the Shannon Falls retirement residence we r all from various areas in Vancouver. Dad wanted some good French fries so I researched about and came to The Watershed. I must say when we drove up we were all hmmmm not too sure as u just c a wall a few parking spots and some empty kegs. But u get to the front and it's very charming on the river as the building is too. We went in got a great seats everyone was super friendly fast service we got some drinks, our food came out quick large portions and delicious. When they found out it was my dads birthday they brought a desert and all sang to him. We asked for the bill while we were waiting for it the manager came by chatted about my old dads bDay he looks really good by the way for his age! She explained that we won't know who but that there's a fella who's a regular there and he paid for our meal!! We were all flabbergasted and couldn't believe it what a grand gesture. There were 6 of us myself husband, our 2 sons dad and his wife Myrna. I tell you I read about these very kind generous deeds on Facebook but never did I think it would happen to us. Needless to say we absolutely loved the experience of this hidden gem and I can c it's a popular place for the locals too, very boisterous place everyone having a great time which is so fabulous!! My husband & I drove from Vancouver to eat at "Jack's Grill" from Virgin River - the setting they used - the Watershed Grill. Despite the dreary weather, the views were beautiful. Our server, Ellie, was fantastic, she said: "Jack just left". We had a good laugh. Ellie was so special - she was friendly, respectful, informative on the specials (Wednesday was the pasta specials - so delicious). Parking was limited, we parked across the street. The view was really next to none! Just wow! The food was slightly above average. We had the baked Brie ($15), seared tuna ($14), lobster ravioli ($18), 6 oysters ($2.5 each), 2 hot dog kids meal ($7 each) and 2 beers ($5.50 each). We got the last baked Brie of the day! lucky! Came with grilled garlic and salad. It was pretty good. Not often you see baked Brie on the menu. Because we switched table due the sun in our faces. There were some confusion with our order, so we watched our oysters sat on the kitchen window for a good 15 mins before we were served them. I expressed my concerns about this. The server ordered and gave us fresh ones. We got discount off the bill too. The rest of the food ok until we found a hair in the kid's salad. We were comped for that meal. Absolutely LOVED this local spot. The server Ellie was fantastic, she was truly one of a kind. We ate delicious bowls (ahi and salmon) and had some fries too! 10/10 would come back for the good food, cold beer, and amazing staff. Love this place. Great location on the banks of the river and food is consistently good! River Burger for me (again) with a nice cold draft beer watching the eagles cruise around. Parking can be a bit challenging but worth the effort to get in there. Nice patio with ample shade on a hot day. Definitely worth checking out when in Squamish. read more

The only reason this isn't a 1 star is the location-which is incredible. Right on the water, beautiful mountains and you can see a beautiful sunset- Service is really bad and painfully slow. And that is a generous statement. When we were asking about food idea-she could not give us ANY info about the menu items. She knew nothing about any of it. My son asked about the oysters-and then decided against them and ordered wings instead. when she read back the order and said the oysters-we reminded her that we didn't want them...and yet-she still brought them out, And then when we told her we didn't order them, she say 'oh, I ordered them for you...so...." and left them. We thought that maybe to make up for the horrible service and mistake she was leaving them as a peace offering. Nope-she actually tried to charge us, and didn't want to remove them from the bill (she eventually did-but...really?). Our meals came out one at a time-with at least 10 minutes in between and one meal finally came out - but after everyone else was done eating. We ordered: Fish & Chips $14.95 Tasteless and left almost entirely untouched- Seafood chowder very bland and served with stale goldfish on top- $8 Butter chicken-okay. I stopped by here with a buddy after a day of working not knowing what to expect. It seemed like a very homely area with the entrance tucked to the side and the interior kind of barn like. It has a great vibe and I was very warm and comfortable. When ads and commercials talk about thick, juicy, homegrown tasty burgers. The River Burger is the burger they are talking about. Solid and delicious!!! The fries and the creole prawns were delicious too! I will definitely be coming back here on my next ride to Whistler. Great views from all tables. Ate lunch on a Friday afternoon at 2. Did not have to wait for a table but still a good crowd. River burger was great, the peppercorns gave it a nice twist. My daughter had the veggie burger made from Beyond Meat. Excellent veggie burger. My husband had the seafood chowder. He said it was okay, but not much too it. Dined here on sat oct 24th, and I ordered the power bowl. Apparently its a new menu item, and I just want to say it's finally a legitimately healthy "bowl" with tons of fresh veggies that aren't covered in all these dried fruits, candied nuts, cheese, bacon bits, thick oily dressings, etc., like how a lot of other restaurants do. Even vegan-friendly places have too many junk-food offerings (fried cauliflower wings, greasy plant burgers, nut-based cheeses, and so on) so it's nice to have a break from that. On the other token, they do still have amazing menu items for those that just want a super tasty meal. My bf got the disaster burger, and it was phenomenal according to him. Last note, our server was Ellie, and despite how busy it was on that night, she was attentive, sweet, conversational and efficient. I really like the looks of this restaurant and it sits in a gorgeous view! The service was great and the waitresses were super friendly! Unfortunately, I must report that the food is bland and expensive. I was incredibly disappointed in my "River Burger" ($16) and onion rings substitution (+$2). The beef was described as some grass fed organic beef but what I'm tasting is the following: I'm tasting Burger King... that's right, Burger King. In fast I could have that exact burger (in terms of taste) for $5 bucks in Burger King, I'm not kidding or being sarcastic. The onion rings were bland and tasted like they were fried in old oil. My friends and I loved this place. We went on a monday and they were having a special for burger and a beer for $10. I had the veggie burger with sweet potatoe fries. Love it! Cozy, rustic style located in an amazing location with a great view that lets you watch eagles eating salmon on winter. How cool is that? Great service and great food! It was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait for a table. I had their Ribeye steak sandwich with fries. Delicious! Everything! I usually don't finish fries, but that one was so good I had to finish! Found this restaurant after hiking the chief. We were there at 3pm and the patio and half open patio were both packed. It's a great location right on the river. Parking is limited behind the restaurant. There is another lot across the street. You can't park on the road, so if the 2nd lot is full there is another one by the park. The pros: - location is prime! Especially if you get a seat by the window - price is great! They had $4.5 pints and the portions are large - it's all hormone free meat The cons - service is not very good. The staff seem to not like their job. A group of 3 elderly people (white hair, frail looking) came in and the server said seat yourself and walked away... They felt embarrassed and scurried to the back of the restaurant. I thought it was quite rude granted that they were elderly and needed assistance finding a table. The front of the restaurant was full so they really had no where to go. - they set the tip percentage at 15, 17, 20% I thought this was high as its a bar and there wasn't really much service... - they don't have prices on their drink menu which is on a chalk board by the bar (no drink menu) - the food is okay, but I wouldn't come out of your way to eat here. It's more for the view and sitting on the patio. We had the house burger with yam fries and the Cali burger with seafood chowder. Both were filling but the flavour was a little lacking for our taste. There is only one restaurant on the banks of the Squamish River along this stretch that flows into Howe Sound and honestly, I see no need for another. This place has river and mountain views, indoor and outdoor seating, a sizable menu ranging from pastas to burgers (including a solid veggie burger) to seafood, and a decent beer selection on tap. Its the kind of food you want after a day spent outside, but its not too heavy to leave you feeling sluggish. Special shout out to our server Ellie (I think that was her name) who while, we filled our bellies with warming food, told us in this most genuine way that her job at the Watershed fills her up. We didn't get dessert but damn that was sweet. Final note: this place is in high demand in the summer months, and they don't do reservations, so show up ready for a little wait. They have a few benches across the path where you can sit and watch the river and mountains though, and usually a few dogs of dinner guests hanging out, which is a pretty good way to pass the time. read more

Food: 4 Stars; Service: 2.5 Stars The restaurant is located in an area where people go for salmon. . . fishing? spotting? not sure. But there is a big salmon event that occurs there. The salmon/fishy smell is really strong. It's a beautiful area though. They also have eagles that fly around. Pretty awesome. I'll start off by acknowledging that we were a group of 16 that stopped in on our way to Whistler from YVR with only about 45 minutes advance notice to them. However, the waitress seemed overwhelmed and frequently forgot people's drinks and dishes when everyone else had their stuff for at least 5 minutes. That's a long time when you are sitting at a table and everyone else has their stuff. The food was pretty damn good. We were all expecting NYC-bar-type food. Kinda unhealthy, probably fried, overly flavored, maybe creative if we were lucky. But, the food was healthy, fresh, and really good! Overall high marks here, alas a couple of soft spots I'll touch on... The food was really great & timely. Minimal presentation and excellent in quality and taste... as were the beverages too. Service staff were genuinely friendly, attentive, and timely... I'm not for tweaking everything I order, but I do have a thing about how I like my ceasars... and with a simple request, the staff got it right (in a world of where this is not so hard & usually ends up the contraire). That said, the ownership/management/staff could really benifit by paying attention to the obvious regarding decor... There are probably not a whole lot of restaurants, pubs or grills in the entire world that can offer some of the best Eagle bird watching in the world, along with a spectacular mountain and river view where we noticed people rafting, all to be admired while you enjoy the experience of the establishment. That's amazing stuff! Alas, it was a shame and really unfortunate to experience the view from inside in the winter as being obstructed with worn out retractable clear plastic (instead of something else possibly more durable & transparent for the winter/rain). And with just a glance around during daylight hours, it was apparent that the tables could have benefited from having a card listing the kinds birds and many creatures that you will most likely see during your visit (minus 1 star). And finally... the establishment needed a good dusting, but it was clean where it counted. The visable cobwebs and layer of grime on the deck rails and in parts of the washroom was uncool, as was the dilapidated vibe of the washroom. This is a small family owned restaurant tucked away near the Sea to Sky Highway by the town of Squamish, along the Squamish River. The restaurant is on the riverfront with a gorgeous view and a relaxed vibe. When we got there, the restaurant was packed and it was a little hard to find parking. The waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. We had fresh Royal Miyagi Oysters, Salmon Burger, Fish Tacos, and the River Burger. The Oyster is fresh with notes of parsley, cucumber and hints of lavender. C$13.50 for half dozen. Salmon Burger is very good as well as the River Burger (CS$15.95 each). We did not really care much about the Fish Taco (C$15.95) for some reason, it was a little bland compared to the other dishes. It was an excellent place for lunch overall. read more

Wow! I am so disappointed! My husband and friends and I used to come here quite a bit on our way to Squamish and I'm also a VR fan and love the view and atmosphere but last time we were here and today we had the same rude waitress. She had super short hair and seems older than the other staff there. Now we understand if there can be long wait times, but it seemed like she was purposefully making us wait longer and she's very abrupt, too. She tended to another couple who came after us a lot more. I still can't believe her! It's not the first time either. The last time we were there we had her as our waitress as well and she did the same and didn't treat us very well. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be coming back. What used to be a pleasant experience and good food is now a place that is overrated now because her service is so poor! I honestly can't say the same about the others and I can tell the other staff were way friendlier which is why I did give it 2 stars but the service was so poor the last few times, I think we may have to boycott this pub, unfortunately! read more

Great bar, mediocre restaurant, but location, location, location. Situated right across from a major eagle viewing spot in Brackendale this place deserves a visit. The scenery is stunning and it is just a cool place all around i you can get in after a hike. That being said, it has a very limited menu which isn't always a bad thing but it literally is 4 types of burgers, a pulled pork sandwich, a salad and a similarly limited breakfast menu, The burgers are good not great, and the same goes for the fries. Come for beer, stay for the scenery, but for food, exhaust yourself to the point where anything would taste great on a local hike first. read more
