The "Ocean View" is blocked by a building across the street. I'd hate to see what they call a "limited ocean view." This is from the third floor, also there is no elevator. The room has no chain or deadbolt to make the exit child safe or prevent staff entry. The room has a small window low down with no screen that my two year old can open and would easily be able to crawl out of.

Cool carved whale along the side of the building.

This place gets a five from me because of the value! Such a deal so close to the beach and walking distance to everything, even Fred Meyers! The room was sparkling clean, the grounds were maintained and the staff was helpful and friendly, what more could you ask! We travel full time, living in our van, and like a hotel once in awhile to stretch out a bit and enjoy a big shower! Waves gave us everything we needed and wanted, including a beautiful ocean view! There are some long term "residents" but it was quiet at night when it needed to be! I recommend Waves for a quick stop and great value!

Very disappointed in our stay. No hand soap provided at the sink. There are body wash and shampoo dispensers in the shower if you want to wash your hands. There is no bathroom floor mat and only 1 washcloth was given. The latch on the 3rd floor window was broken. My grandson pushed it open, and luckily, he didn't fall out from the third floor. There were many broken light fixtures and a rusty shower curtain rod. The ocean view is marred by many close power lines. We expected better for over $400 for 2 nights. The free breakfast was the standard cereal, yogurt, fruit. There were english muffins, but no butter, peanut butter, cream cheese. No spoons either!

My view did have some powerlines, but this little bird sat and sang for me every morning.

I've been debating between 2-4 stars and settled on three. I have stayed here three times in the past year, amd will absolutely stay here again, that said it needs work. The floors have been updated (I think I saw a review mention gross carpet - that is gone), so have the windows. I don't know if they all have, but my room (341) had been updated and that was great compared to the last two stays. And they open (have a screen) so I could listen to the waves crash in as I fell asleep. You can't beat the view, at least from the third floor. The corner room does have powerlines, can't remember if my other room did or if they sagged enough to be a but lower. But it didn't bother me. The staff have been wonderful and the rooms have always been clean. That said, there are no towel racks to hang wet towels. My room had one hook behind the door which was fine for a solo trip, but in Oct with family, that sucked, we had to hang them on hangers in the closet (and there weren't many hangers either. The tub was old and had been patched, but water temp/pressure was fine. Absolutely not a place for a romantic getaway, but as a 'starving artist' it was fine for me to get away and write for a long weekend especially price-wise compared to other ocean view properties. No comment on the pool/hot tub as I didn't even check if theybwere open/working, I wasn't interested.

Okay, this hotel. We've been here for a little over a month, moving a few rooms from 223, 120, 111, and 118. (Five different reservations.) When we first got here, like the rest of the world, they were a bit understaffed but all the staff we meet looked happy, always smiled and were very helpful to make sure the stay is what we needed. First, the they were only open at night. 2pm to 10pm? But the last week, they have been open from 8am to 9/10pm. The rooms beds were comfortable expect for 111's. Wifi was great in each room. The microwave and fridge worked perfectly. Bedding was comfy, coffee machine always worked, heater/ac worked perfectly. I only have two complaints about this hotel, is not all the outlets worked in the room. When I mentioned this at the front desk to one front desk agent, she shrugged it off and made it a comment that it's not her issue. The second complaint is the water in rooms 111 and 118 was only luke warm.

Really a little fridge and on the floor!

You get what you pay for. Toilet kept running and I was told to fix it myself! Don't use more towels then needed because u can get more till later! The small fridge was on the floor so if u can't bend sorry! Plus no shelves in the fridge! Remote was taped no back. And get maybe the 3rd level for a ocean view! And it's pretty far to walk to the beach it's not 300 or so they say unless your jumping from a cliff

Nahhhhhhhhhhhh. Let me start out with saying they hired some super nice staff, so good on them for doing something right because those ladies are sweet. But owners. They charge too much No air conditioning No fan No ocean view.. Definitely had to prop open my door just so I knew my 5 month old wasn't gonna die of heat exhaustion. Transition period or not this was not worth the price I've found hotels under $100 and at least I feel like I'm in a hotel. Look, I NEVER complain. Literally ever, but wow. It seems like the owners are cheep with no hesitation to screw you on your mini vacation that you save up for and try to be a happy for a couple days away from home. Also born in Newport Oregon-not a Californian in case you need and reference on my background. It blew to spend money on something that genuinely just made irritated.

I've read some horrible reviews about this place and some good ones before we came here. Yes it is dated and could use some love however nothing can beat the location and we even have a partial ocean view for $100 per night! Also the room is great size and clean. Bathroom is clean and water pressure is good. We had nothing to complain about. The needed updates are happening as I write this review. Half of the building is being updated with AC and everything. Hopefully the rate will be still affordable when everything is done. Our dog loved the stay too. It's only $10 per night for a dog.

We planned a weekend getaway for our one year... we were very underwhelmed especially for how much we paid. It doesn't seem like the room was even cleaned (I attached pictures, but need to zoom in) The front door was hard to close, there was only 5 squares of toilet paper, the floor had debris on it, the sink backs up, there was dust on everything (I realize dust builds fast) and our ocean view was blocked by a house. I wish I had looked at the ratings and reviews ahead of time. We made the best of it because it's our love we're celebrating. My review is to help people out, spend your money elsewhere.

    Small window with no screen
    Venessa E.

Not a hotel as advertised on their website. It's a motel charging hotel prices. Pro: very friendly office staff Cons: no AC in the room. Had to put fan in window that has no screen, one of the beds was so old it was sunken in in the middle so my daughter woke up with back pains, the other bed frame is falling apart and being held with duck tape, hole in the bathroom door that was "patched up" (stuffed) with toilet paper, no elevator access for our building (had to haul luggage up the stairs), our buildings ice machine didn't work, warped flooring under carpet (felt like we were going to fall through)

This is our ocean view room. Could've mentioned one needs to stand.

We have now (almost) stayed here twice. We are leaving as I write. I did not write a review of our first stay and forgot that we had been here. When you look at the hotel online, they use a picture that makes it look like it is right on the beach. It is not. They charge a premium for ocean view rooms . I have attached a picture to show that, at best, it is an obstructed view of the ocean. You cannot actually see much ocean if you are not standing and even then see very little. The place is run down, and when we said we were not happy, their attitude was "we are not a high cost hotel," and "we are not responsible for the pictures the booking site uses." There is road and houses in between the hotel and the beach. The doors are rusted, interior paint is peeling, I could go on. They were nice enough to refund the room. We got the other room at a resort in Yachats for $10 less. This room had an ocean view as it was right on the beach. And this a big part of the problem, they simply charge too much for what you get.

Our "partial ocean view." If you look carefully through the window in front of the truck, you can see the ocean through the other building.

Those stairs are a lawsuit waiting to happen. - The cement staircases inside the hotel actually had danger signs posted. I fear for older people... Pros: We had a nice spacious 3rd floor room with a great view of the beach. The hotel has nice amenities like great toiletries that smell lovely, nice robe and a balcony plus a fireplace. Shower had 3 separate water nozzles which was fun! (Although took a minute to figure out how to use) Heated infinity Jacuzzi pool was wonderful! Fire pits near the pool also great! The front desk people were all very nice. The place was clean and they had cookies in the lobby that we tried one day (yum!) Cons: I was disappointed that they apparently did away with the made to order breakfast that they have pictured in their website. Instead of the items pictured was a Continental breakfast delivered in little plastic containers in a box. It was not bad taste wise, and I definitely appreciated the hard boiled egg as a bit of protein along with all the carbs. But it would have been nice to know of this change before booking. Price is fairly high for the cold month of March. We asked about the sofa bed getting set up for our 3rd person in the room and were told we needed to make it ourselves. For the price we paid it would have been nice that they could have sent someone to set up the sofabed, that was weird, and unexpected. Kind of felt like something a much lower end hotel would ask you to do. I debated between 3 and 4 stars since there were both good and bad points. If there was a 3.5 stars option this is what i'd choose honestly. I'd come back again but only if I got a much better rate.

I started this experience with the Whiskey Fog. This is an absolutely fantastic start for the evening, see the photos for the description of this cocktail and watch the video to see the presentation. I had tried this cocktail on the last visit and I have been dreaming about it ever since. This cocktail was every bit as perfectly executed as the first one I tried. From the presentation I the last swallow was absolutely perfect. Next was the appetizer. I selected the Deviled Eggs. I chose the Southwest, Dill Pickle, and Sweet Bourbon Bacon. They were flavorful and well prepared and the presentation was excellent. A very impressive start of the meal. I highly recommend this item. Please see the photos for the description and presentation. For the main dish I selected the Prosciutto Scallops. I do not order Scallops very frequently because I am seldom satisfied with the outcome. Scallops are very easily over cooked. However I felt adventurous and intrigued by the menu's description of the dish. I was not disappointed in the least. The scallops were perfectly cooked and the layers of flavor are very well balanced, perfectly executed, and well thought out. There again, the presentation was excellent. Please see the photos for the description of the dish and the presentation. My wife ordered the Orange Cauliflower and the Stir Fried Quinoa. She in the past has worked at a number of very high end restaurants that serve very sophisticated palates. It is not uncommon for her to spot unfavorable qualities in the cuisine the she is served. I would like to thank Alli C. our server for the evening. Her hospitality and attentiveness were outstanding. She was definitely a major factor in our very enjoyable evening. There…read morewere seven of us, and we stayed in House 134, the four-bedroom, 1.5-bath rental across the street from the hotel. The biggest positive was the location. The ocean views from the living room and the primary bedroom are absolutely beautiful and were one of the highlights of our stay. There were, however, a few things I wish had been disclosed on the website before booking. First, housekeeping is not provided for the rental homes, regardless of the length of your stay. This also means toiletries are not restocked. By the middle of the week, we ended up purchasing our own supplies. This may be standard for some vacation rentals, but it would have been helpful to know ahead of time since it's different from what many guests expect at a hotel. The biggest issue for our family was the layout of the home. There are three to four steps leading down into the primary bedroom, and there is no handrail. My elderly in-laws stayed in that room and had difficulty navigating the stairs. I think this is important information for anyone with mobility concerns. The primary bedroom also does not have an attached bathroom. The half bath is located off the laundry room near the kitchen, on the opposite side of the house, while the full bathroom is in the hallway. For older guests, a few simple safety features like grab bars and a non-slip surface in the bathroom would make a significant difference. I'm not expecting a fully ADA-compliant rental, but some basic accessibility considerations would go a long way. One thing the photos don't really capture is the scale of the furnishings. The home photographs beautifully, and the décor is very stylish, but it felt more like a staged model home than a place designed for a week-long stay. The living room had a very small, low three-person sofa and decorative accent chairs that looked nice but weren't particularly comfortable for relaxing as a larger family. The three smaller bedrooms would also benefit from having dressers or additional storage for guests staying more than a night or two. The kitchen was clean and attractive, but if you plan on cooking most of your meals--as many families do when renting a home--it could use a better selection of cookware. We found the knives, pots, and pans to be fairly limited for preparing meals. Overall, we enjoyed the beautiful views and convenient location, but I think providing more detailed information about the home's layout, amenities, and accessibility would help future guests decide whether it's the right fit for their needs.

We stayed in the Maya Angelou suite which is rather large compared to the other rooms and is oceanfront with a semi private balcony, all reasons why I selected it. Note: The bathroom in this suite is tiny, narrow and has an upper window located in the shower which is great for airflow and ventilation but faces the public balcony, so if the window is open and people are on that balcony, you will hear them. Overall we had a peaceful and relaxing stay, exactly what we needed. Our arrival was great. The person who checked us in was welcoming, friendly and super helpful. This won't prevent me from coming back or recommending it because the setting was so lovely and the location is excellent, but I would be cautious of the inconsistent service that could possibly derail the experience.

Have a sip of the drink of your choosing on the nice and open patio= perfection! The King bed was huge and comfy, and we liked the ambiance of the little electric fireplace. But the view was STELLAR, and the customer service as well. Plus, they have frequent free snacks throughout the day. I'd love to come back!
