What an incredible place to stay! We booked a one night trip here and didn't expect much but we were delighted at how beautiful and secluded it was. It being the off season, it was very private with us seeing about one person the whole time. The room itself was pretty average but clean and spacious. The view of the ocean was incredible and the sunset and sunrise also helped. I was so blown away by the direct beach access as well. The front desk staff helped us find out about low tides so we could go down and tide pool in the morning! It was so incredibly fun and beautiful the entire time. Highly recommend! The only downside is how much of a walk it is to your room but oh well! read more

We had to depend on a ride to get to and from the parking lot to the room. Some of the waits were longer than others for a driver. The other negative is the rooms are very outdated. If you are there for the beach and tidepools you absolutely won't be disappointed. Trails all around, and the ugliest ducks I've ever seen in the pond. Lush green forest, and grounds. A restaurant and lounge steps away (don't have high expectations for that) Know that there are Steps and more steps. Steps to the room, steps to the beach, steps to the pool, steps to the restaurant. 80+ steps. Friendly staff, very helpful and one guy has 25+ years and said he loves working there. We were momentarily amazed at the stunning view, but when we came back in from the balcony, we saw the room had seen better days. Toilet lid/seat should be replaced (and seriously it's a $10 purchase) One tiny garbage can in the bathroom, none by the frig or coffee maker. Bedding was clean and comfy but needed more blankets because it was COLD. We had to crank the heat to nearly 80 degrees and it finally warmed up by next morning before we left. The internet might as well be non-existent. It DOES NOT WORK. No wonder the have DVD's to borrow because there is no tv. We tried logging into Netflix or Amazon to watch, and it kept stopping, so we gave up. I'd still probably go; I just would have the expectation that I'd need to spend all my time outside to enjoy it because the room isn't anything special. read more

I stayed here for a solo birthday trip a few months ago and it was definitely one of the highlights of my year! They have a sauna and a pool and a hot tub and there's so many fun things around the site where you don't even have to leave for days if you wanted. I stayed in a room that had a kitchenette that overlooked the ocean and it was such a peaceful way to bring in another year of life. The front desk concierge went above and beyond and they even take you to your room when you first get there on a little cart. Overall, I highly recommend here and I'm already planning my next trip back! read more

This is our favorite spot in the entire coast. We stop here every single trip. Nothing beats this place. The grounds are breathtaking, the rooms are spotless, and it's the most beautiful beach. The only downside is that it has LOTS and I mean LOTS of stairs. My daughter counted 85 or 86 stairs. As someone that suffered a pretty bad foot injury a few years back.... I am very sore after a few days of going up and down the stairs to get to the beach. It's also on a hill and you do not park near your room. A golf cart drops you and your belongings off at the room and you have to pack your luggage up stairs. It's a ton of walking. Each room is privately owned so they have different themes and decorations. Book way in advance!!! People love the tide pools and this place is always packed. The Inn @ Otter Crest is hands-down the best place to stay on the entire Oregon Coast. The access to tide pools is enough for 5 stars. The hospitality is next level. Read carefully on their website about what it means to go here so you understand that these are often people's private condos, well furnished, loved for their era-defining aesthetics and often with awesome balconies. We stayed at the Inn at Otter Crest for 2 nights. The property was well maintained and quite beautiful. It was quiet, serene, and very calming. Our room had an ocean view and was, for the most part, clean and in working order. It had two rooms, with a short hallway connecting the rooms. The bedroom was the first room you entered when entering, and the seating area with wall mounted tv was where the balcony and ocean view were. We wanted to sleep in the seating area, so we could hear the ocean at night. There was a sofabed, so we were pretty excited about sleeping with the balcony door open and listening to the crashing waves while we slept. We pulled open the sofabed, and to our shock, the mattress was stained in several spots, and the bottom of the mattress was coming apart, with exposed metal springs. A couple of the couch cushions had stains/burn marks on them. We did NOT sleep on the sofabed mattress!! Overall we did enjoy the property, the peaceful environment, and the professional staff. I would have given it a 5-star review if the sofabed mattress had been clean and safe to sleep on. read more

I grew up in Oregon many years ago and remember my parents talking about the beauty of the Oregon Coast and encouraging everyone to spend time enjoying its wonderful scenery. My wife and I recently stayed at The Inn at Otter Crest to heed my parent's advice. However, we made the wrong choice when staying at this location as it is not an ideal facility when considering a resort environment. The staff is very helpful and assisted with baggage requests and readily offered outside dining options since the restaurant was closed. However, the resort appears to suffer from deferred maintenance based on the quality of our room; significantly detracting from our trip to the Oregon Coast. The following observations are noted. * The walls are very thin as conversation in adjoining rooms and someone walking in the above unit is annoying. * The wall clock was not working. * Furniture appears to be purchased at a flea market as several mis-matched items in the room. * The dishwasher, toilet seat, and towel bar are not secure. * The front entrance deadbolt was stuck and hard to open unless you lean on the door with your shoulder. * Fireplace didn't work and maintenance had to be called. * Sheetrock tape peeling and there was mold near the ceiling in the tub area. * Chipped paint on shower walls. * Finally, the inside of the lamp shade on the right side of the bed was filthy. Our reservation may not accurately reflect the condition of the remaining rooms, but the comments above should be considered before staying at this facility. read more

I had a lovely two night mid-week getaway in a King room with a panoramic view - Room L271. I paid about $430 with taxes. If you are looking for someplace swanky, this isn't the place. If you are looking to relax and have a clean room to stay in while listening to the ocean at night check it out, it might be just right for you. *Things to know before you go: - Each room or suite is individually owned so the decor will differ but the linens and toiletries are standard throughout the resort. - The property is on a hill so you will be walking up or down a path or climbing up or down stairs as you make your way around. - The bottom of the property that is above the ocean has a large lawn, a children's playground, a swimming pool and hot tub as well as an event center. - You will not park your car near your room. There is a primary parking lot. 24 hour shuttle service is how you will get around from car to lodging and back if you don't want to walk. I used it only when departing at the end of my stay in order to get my luggage and other gear to my car. - The staff are very nice. - There are 85 stairs to get down to the beach that has amazing tide pools. read more

This was our first time staying at the in at otter crest. We got lucky with a good deal on hotels.com for $288 for two nights Forrest view. Our Forrest view was essentially ocean view. They have some great walking nearby, a mid restaurant on site, pool, sauna and gym. The rooms are faraway from the parking and they will golf cart you to your room complimentary. The pool is very warm and has some beautiful ocean views. I would recommend asking for an upper level room. We could hear everything that the guests above us were doing. The room was very clean when we arrived and they supplied us with plenty of towels for our stay. The bed is not the most comfortable we have slept in. In combination with the noise and the firm bed it was difficult to get a good nights sleep. Over all we will be back and recommend this hotel. Pros and cons. Pros-the view, location, amazing trail to walk to Devils punch bowl, close to beach, beautiful grounds with all the blooming flowers, nice paths. Many complain about the trails to get from the parking lot to the room but I didn't mind that so much. Trying to roll a suitcase is impossible but you can drive around near your unit to unload to avoid the trail but you will have to carry up stairs. That was all fine with me as the patio and view was the pay off. Cons- the guy working the front desk was not friendly at all. Zero personality. The room was dated but clean. Food-restaurant was closed but they did allow us to order a 'to go' order of salad and a side of fries. It was ok. Pool was nice. We went at a very quiet time in October and although the weather was great, it was a little eerie there because of so few people staying there and odd staff. I would recommend this property for at least a 1-2 night stay. read more

Staying at The Inn at Otter Crest for New Years was a nightmare. Don't get me wrong - it's beautiful and peaceful on the grounds. But our room sounded like a bus station. There's a door between the connecting units. So we can hear everything our neighbors are saying as if they're in our room, loud kids included. Not good and not peaceful! We talked with the gentleman at the desk minutes after going to our room. He informed us that all the rooms are like this. Then he clarified that all rooms like the one we booked are this loud, and he had no other to move us to. So I'm sitting here typing this with what sounds like strangers talking loudly right next to me. It's a whole family - children and adults, all talking, all together, all the time. The property is beautiful on the outside. Very dated on the inside. From the linoleum, to the green carpet that's definitely original, the dirty walls, ripped blankets and peeling paint...this is NOT a $200 and up per night spot. BUT you get $200 and up views. I read on Trip Advisor that the walls are paper thin, and yes. They are. I could hear 100% of their conversation while I was using the restroom. Awkward! Though, it didn't mention the THUMPING sound that the tarp which is basically like a cubicle divider, on the outside patio, makes every time the wind soars. Which is all the time. Because it's the Oregon coast. Now, it's clean enough, it's a beautiful property, the views are great. There is a private beach and tide pools, the pool area is nice and the grounds are nice. BUT if you want luxury and comfort, this is not your spot. I would come back here but maybe get a room without the view, and spend the time walking TO the view. Or just go somewhere a whole lot cheaper. They definitely don't offer you luxury. The pillows were like pancakes. So flat I had a stiff and painful neck the next morning. For $300/night I expected: a place to unpack my bags;a place to sit comfortably to watch TV, eat, Play cards, etc.; a kitchenette supplied with the basics such as some mugs, a wine opener, some paper towels, etc.; comfy chairs on the balcony; pool towels that were promised. What I got: 2 benches where we left our clothing and several hooks on the bedroom wall; no table or chairs in the room so we had to play cards, watch TV and eat on the bed; A kitchen with mostly empty cupboards. There no mugs, little coffee and no tea options, no paper towels or kitchen supplies to wash/dry dishes , there was a junk cupboard filled with unusable things like measuring cups, 1 screw driver, a bunch of plastic take out containers, etc. Luckily I was able to scrounge up a needed knife; The balcony had 2 bar stools and bar table, 1 comfy chair.-only one person could sit comfortably to enjoy the incredible view. The view and balcony were wonderful so there was that. We had only booked one night, so I didn't make a fuss, but did leave remarks and a written review when leaving. A solid 3.5 stars. It's funky old, but in a good way. Architecture is 70s, but has been well maintained. Everything inside our room was functional and kept up. A big throwback to the 70s was the actual heavy room keys. Yes, they still give keys...not room cards. Enjoyed the pool and dry sauna. There are trails to walk and naturally one to the beach. For a Saturday stay, a king was $140. I would say the main drawback was walking quite a distance from the parking lot to our room...in the rain. Not fun, especially down a steep hill. Yes, the desk guy said he could call for "bell service" meaning a golf cart, but I'm a cheapskate, and this is Oregon. Sort of like valet parking. read more

My family and I picked the Inn at Otter Crest for our 10 year anniversary expecting a lot better than what it actually was. We had one of the premier rooms but hate to say it wasn't clean, upstairs bathroom needs a lot of TLC as things are broken and about to fall a part and the front door knob is broken and keeps falling off. I let the front desk know and NOTHING was fixed. They offered 10% off but I'm so frustrated that nothing was addressed 1k for two nights is ridiculous and I would expect to be refunded more than 10%. But between the dated interior and the crazy uphill walk to our building, I don't think we will stay here again. If you call or stop by you can request someone drive you to your room in a golf-cart type vehicle but it wasn't practical to do that multiple times a day. My husband was recovering from knee surgery so that made it extra difficult. And on the rainy days it was a miserable trek. Getting down to your car was one thing. If you want to get down to the playground / ocean / restaurant / pool it was a couple more levels below that. And then you have to go back up. If you want really nice, cozy, affordable luxury this isn't your spot. If you want a no-frills experience with fantastic views and don't mind the hills then this is it! read more

I first stayed here in the late 1970s, and have stayed many times since. The various units are owned and maintained by different people. Those of us who stay often and have stayed in different rooms have our favorites. My faves are 232 and 233. Be prepared to stay in a room that probably differs from all the other rooms. If you are just looking for a room to stay in, you would probably want to stay elsewhere. But if you want to see the Pacific Ocean in all its moods, hear the owls late at night, see the bunnies, hummingbirds, pelicans, gulls, ravens, and the occasional fox, this is the place for you. Some people complain about the hills and stairs. Yes, there are a lot of stairs. The place is built on a cliff, for heaven's sake! If you don't like to walk, call for a ride. The staff are willing and able. Don't count on the restaurant. It was hit hard by Covid, and is now open only on weekends and only for takeout. Hopefully it will open full time soon. Meanwhile, there are good restaurants in Depoe Bay--Gracie's and/or Tidal Raves. Both have great food at reasonable prices. In case you like to hunt fossils, the Inn at Otter Crest is a short walk from Beverly Beach. Given that the ocean is eroding away the cliff face, and funds do not exist to do a professional fossil excavation, the State of Oregon allows anyone to keep fossils they find in the Beverly Beach cliff. If you find anything spectacular, please contact the University of Oregon or Oregon State to give them a look. read more

A stipulation is in order. These are the best views on the O Coast. Hands down. That said, here is the real story. The place is absolutely inaccessible to any one with even a minor limitation (age being one of them). We found it impossible to stroll through the lovely gardens or enjoy the beach. It is on a cliff that is not, by any means, accessible. To make things worse, they say they offer "rides" in their curtesy golf carts. No. We were gassed, sitting on a bench, wondering how were were going to get to our room. A staff member in a golf cart stopped and greeted us. I asked if he could give my wife a ride to our third level room. He said, "NO", and drove off. The same day, I heard a staff member LAUGH because a lady needed a ride. He said, "too bad". There are many lovely, accommodating facilities to stay on the O Coast. This is not one of them. Drive on by. read more

This was a horrible stay we will not be back. we were checked into Room 324. We were not even offered a ride to the rom so we had to hike to the room. No cars were allowed to the rooms. When we checked in to room 324 the walls were razor thin. We heard everything the neighbors were talking about. The shampoo was a sludge. We had to ask for shampoo . I don't know why the housekeeper left it for the guests in the room. Then the neighbors decided to smoke some pot on their balcony. Our door was open and it wafted into our room. We had enough at this point and asked to be moved. The front desk person did not apologize and was not very sympathetic. Her name was Katiya. We asked for compensation but she said she had to wait until her manager was there the next morning. Well it turned out she was the Front Office Manager! We ere taken to room 147. She gave us the wrong keys, s we had to wait in the rain to get the news keys. When we finally got into our room, 9pm, the walls again were razor thin. We heard the neighbors TV loud and clear. We just wanted to go to sleep at this time. When we checked out they refunded the difference between the rooms and that was it. NO apology, no other compensation just a big fat FU. They said the GM, Greg would be in at 2pm. We called at 4pm, they knew it was our phone number and proceeded to hang up on us. We called back and they hung up on us again. The 3rd time they said my husbands name and then hung up again. Then we called back and they said the GM would not be in until Tuesday then hung up. Do NOT STAY HERE!!! THEY ARE RUDE AND DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!!!!!! read more

I'm giving it 1 star because of the views on this property. Everything else is dated and in disrepair, with an unfriendly staff and minimal amenities. Be prepared to hike to and from your room at long distances from the parking lot located far away from the units, and up-and-down steep hills. With moisture on the ground it's very dangerous walking as it's very slippery. Fortunately no one got hurt during our stay. We had an infant with us, which made it even more difficult and dangerous. The setting of the property is quite nice, however, all of the units are old and just slightly / cheaply updated. One tiny shower that you can barely open the door to get into with a shower that is mostly broken (more water comes out of the faucet than the shower head) and the handle just pops off when trying to adjust. We probably could have lived with the dated room. However, the staff was unfriendly and even rude during our stay. The only person that was friendly was the gentleman who checked us in our first night. Golf carts trying to run you off the road when you're walking to your room, the pool guy pestering and kicking us out of the hot tub well before closing time (10 pm) because he wanted to rush us out so he could go home I assume (my wife and 2 kids quietly sitting in the over chlorinated hot tub, this wasn't a rowdy group trying to stay after closing)? The night manager is an old crabby guy and when we asked for towels our second night (they gave us 4 towels for 6 people in our loft unit) because the cleaning service didn't service our room, complained that he was just about to close down shop and if we wanted the towels we'd have to come down and get them (again a looooong walk in the rain at night)... WTF? They should probably advertise that people should bring their own towels, oh, and by the way no pool towels so make sure you bring something with you otherwise you get to hike back to use your old room towels (what a joke!). One last item is, they told us that our room would have a pullout sleeper sofa to accommodate our party of six, unfortunately that was not the case. So the kids slept on the couches. There are so many wonderful properties on the Oregon coast, this one is not one of them. I would give it zero stars if I could. read more

My fiancé and I stayed for two nights a few weeks ago. Our room was amazing. It's quiet and just what we needed on a weekend away from the kids! After reading all the reviews prior to going I was worried. The rooms are a bit of a walk (depends where your room is), from the parking lot. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They will cart you to your car or room anytime. The carts have flat beds and seat 4 passengers. There are two carts. Park in the parking lot, throw the hazards on and a cart will arrive shortly. No need to go in the office if you've already checked in. Staff will help carry anything you have if you're on the second level as we were. My lady is pregnant and this made it ONE TRIP, which is the rule, ya know? Great stay, not expensive, great property. Not far from Newport and Depoe Bay. I definitely recommend. So much so that I'm not even going to list the room we were in so it isn't occupied when we stay again! read more

Rooms stayed very dark which was nice to be able to sleep in. CONS: Old rooms, no place to sit so we brought the broken outdoor chairs inside so we could visit and look at the ocean. Rusty items in the bathroom. I know it's the damp coast but for $165/night they could purchase new ones. One cadet heater to heat both rooms is not sufficient. Bey cold this time of year. We could hear the people in the next room very clearly. Insufficient locks especially since our room number was on our key should we have lost it. RESTAURANT was take out only Thursday night. We went back on Saturday because we didn't feel like driving anywhere. Service was very slow, inky one gal working and she was as the waitress/bartender. She was very nice. I also think she was very new. Food was OK. I had the special which was advertised as a bbq ribeye but it was prime rib. Good flavor but very fatty and way too rare (I ordered medium well) I have a fear of sending food back so I picked away at it. I must have missed the part that it would be slathered in BBQ sauce. My sister had clam strips which were cooked VERY well done, just the way I like them. Some don't like them that crispy. Fries were good. This is a Vacation International time share property which my sister is an owner but there wasn't any of those rooms available. I would hope they are nicer. Our stay wasn't horrible but for the price I don't know that we would stay there again. It's such a big property so it's a lot of walking and stairs. read more

This is my favorite place to stay on the Oregon Coast. Others have complained that the units need work. The units are mostly individually owned units and some are probably better maintained than others. We've booked directly with the inn itself and have not had any problems. The staff here are all so friendly and helpful. This is a wonderful get away. It is far off the highway so there is no traffic noise at all. We love to open the balcony door in the evening and going to sleep to the sounds of the surf crashing. It is such a relaxing way to end the day. The only small issues I have is that there is no proper desk for setting up a laptop computer. We also find it a nuisance accessing the ice machines. If you do not have a larger unit the ice machines can be quite a distance from your unit and in the evening it is difficult getting ice. Otherwise I highly recommend Inn at Otter Creek. It is our first choice on the Oregon Coast. read more

Absolutely beautiful views. Great room. Only reason I took away one star is that the desk clerk didnt explain that our room was an uphill climb, so we declined the golf cart ride up to the room. It was a very steep climb, and had to make many stops along the way. But we survived. Next time, we will definitely use the complimentary ride. We brought our own dvds to watch, but couldnt find the dvd player remote, and when we called the front desk, they said maybe the people who had stayed in our room before us and had the adjoining room left the remote in the other room. They said they would look into it and let us know, but no one ever got back to us, and we ended up watching movies on my phone. We would definitely stay here again though! Those are minor details. The property is NW beautiful in terms of rustic landscaping. he buildings re a little worn but welcome to living on the coast. There is clearly a lot of ongoing maintenance and remodeling going on. The front desk staff was friendly and accomodating every time we interacted. Kevin in a[particular was terrific. We were in a condo with a loft bedroom overlooking the entire ocean with unobstructed views of incoming storms. seal and seabirds. Awesome views. The condo was in excellent condition with decent furnishings and appliances. This could not have been better. Like most restaurants in hotels these days, this one was take out only. But the services was excellent. Both timely and friendly and the food was fine. The only downside was the bed was uncomfortable for me. I didn't downgrade my rating as bed comfort is very personal. The mattress was in good condition as was all the bedding. Nice beach. Cool tidal pools. Great sunsets. This was so nice! I would come back again and again. Thanks so much! read more

Beautiful place to stay and relax. Excellent customer service. We live the view, the golf carts taking us up to our room and the surroundings. It is a private location and not crowded. We were so thankful to find this place last minute and will recommend it to our friends and family. We loved how the buildings are laid out to have their own view of the ocean but nestled in the trees and bushes to give a private feel. The staff provides golf cart service from parking lot to the rooms as the narrow walkways provide privacy and the best of the Pacific Northweat outdoors. The grounds are beautifully maintained with benches, picnic tables and barbecue grills for use. The location is just north of Newport to be out of the hustle and bustle of town but close to run back and forth. The room was clean and comfortable. There was a nice trail to hike to the Devil's Punchbowl and Mo's restaurant. Will come again! read more

Must know: you cannot park by your room, but will be shuttled by staff. Nice facilities. Pretty setting on woodsy hillside overlooking the Pacific. Prepare for a good amount of hill walking. Sufficient outlets. Sufficient head room in bathtub. Comfortable bed. Working fridge/microwave/tv. I didn't care for sharing a porch. They do provide a barrier screen. A charge of $4 (each day/each title) for rental of old movies seemed a bit pricey, IMO. Quite a walk for ice or to main office. Cleaning staff did excellent work. Want one of the coolest location getaways, Otter Crest is it, we went swimming late night...the ocean is only a few yards away. The pool was so warm...I love this place. So peaceful and quiet and the view is second to none! read more

I had never been here before but it is my new favorite place to stay. The rooms are lovely and clean with amazing views of the ocean. The service was awesome, especially the gentleman that help you to your room. There is a lighted staircase down to the beach - takes about 5 minutes - keep an eye out for agates! The property is filled with cute humming birds and wild bunnies, and the tide pools are very accessible. Overall it's a great place to stay and the location is nice and close to town. That being said, this hotel requires a ton of walking uphill (which was not a problem for me but may be for others) I would really recommend taking them up on the bellhop service, some rooms are quite the trek from the office / parking area . And of course due to covid, the restaurant and pool are closed which was a bummer. read more
