I found The Way Massage (on Yelp!) just over a year ago after moving to Boston from the West Coast. I'm a bit of a massage connoisseur and wanted to find a place that I felt relaxed and comfortable going to, as well as a kick a@@ massage. The Way's massage studio is located in a beautiful historical house/building and in very discreet place, where there is not a lot of foot traffic going in and out (which I prefer when I'm stumbling out of an amazing massage, looking like a zombie). You're able to book your appt online, which makes scheduling easy peasy. I've had at least 15 massages with Colleen, and she gave an incredible deep tissue massage from the very first time seeing her. She always takes the time to check in with how I am feeling, and asks if there are any areas we should focus on specifically. You also have a choice of a number of yummy essential oil fragrances, or I'm sure you could chose a fragrance free oil. My favorite is the eucalyptus spearmint. OMG it's heavenly. I even bought a bottle to use in my diffuser at home. The Way has 2 massage rooms and is very quiet and serene. The vibe is calm, friendly and welcoming. It's almost like having the place to yourself, which I really like. I am sure that all of the ladies here are excellent massage therapists, and I would HIGHLY recommend you give them a try if you're looking for an incredible massage. I recently recommended a co-worker's wife, and she was very impressed with her experience. Prices are competitive with other masseuses and I can promise that you'll get what you pay for. Super-comfortable and comforting oasis in Stoneham! I sought treatment with Carolyn initially to help with a back injury and muscle tightness. I've had three sessions, and it's been so beneficial that I want to keep coming back on a regular basis! The atmosphere is very warm and friendly. The massage rooms are soothing and relaxing, with toasty heated tables, soft blankets, low lighting, and your choice of music and choice of scented oil (or no scent). Your massage is customized based on what you want and any issues that you're having. By the end of the hour, I was so relaxed it was hard to get up off the table. Heaven! So happy I kept looking for the right place for me. Had a prenatal massage with Shaylynn and she's the first person to not treat me like I was about to fall apart! I told her I liked form pressures and she gave it to me! I am in my third trimester abs struggling with back pain, pelvic pain and headaches. Shaylynn even offered to wrap me in KT (kinesiology tape) to try to help with sone of my trouble areas. If you e never heard of this technique look it up. I walked into The Way, having been there before, expecting to relax and work out some of the tensions that builds up being a mom to two little ones. I decided to try Keri, as she seemed new and why not try someone new? My gosh, I am so glad I did. I admit, I am a little nervous to write this review as I do not want Keri to be totally booked up so that I cannot go see her again - but she deserves the shout out. Keri is amazing. We sat down to start and she really cared about what brought me in, and she had read my file so knew I had the two little ones at home. She genuinely seemed to care about how I was feeling, and how she could help me. She found knots in my back and legs that I did not even know I had (who gets knots in their legs?!?). She started me face up, which was my first time ever doing that, and I LOVED it. Honestly. My problem areas (back and shoulders) got attention both at the beginning and end of the session, which was so unique and also so great. She was relentless, but without pain, to work out every knot and ever tense area she found. Once I stood up, I felt like a new person. My body felt loose, the knots in my shoulders were gone - and that feeling has continued. Keri is a miracle worker, and by far the best massage I have EVER received. The Way Massage Therapy is a great addition to the Stoneham area. Set in the rear of an older house that's been turned into several office spaces, it provides a real peaceful, relaxing environment. They have heated massage beds, a first for me and it was amazing! The inside is designed beautifully with calm colors and warm accents. Most importantly, its quiet. They are located in the rear of the house on the ground floor, so you don't hear many noises from other parts of the house. Everything is clean and neat. You can choose the type of music you'd like to listen to while you're getting your massage, even bring in your own iPod if I remember correctly. My massage was with Cassie and it was great. I had a 60 minutes of her working out the knots in my upper back and hamstrings and I felt great afterwards. She's thorough in her technique and asked enough questions to be familiar with any injuries or issues I needed work on. She knew how to handle my bad knees and back issues. I left feeling awesome. I plan on going back regularly. I've also met her business partner, Tanya and she's just as wonderful. You can't go wrong making an appointment with either of them. read more

What a wonderful place! Easy to get to find & easy to park! It's lovingly decorated and the candles all smell amazing! They've also thought about a lot of small details, like fresh, cold water at the end of the massage and toiletries in the massage rooms and in the bathroom. YES, the beds are heated and YES, it's awesome! Trust me, once you've experienced this, anything less is a BIG disappointment. Cassie is a really skilled MT. She's very knowledgeable about her craft- asks good questions, makes suggestions and very clearly has years of experience. She's also passionate about what she does. You can tell how much she genuinely cares about her clients and how dedicated she is to making people feel better. She practically saved me a world of pain after my first Spartan Race (OCR). 24 obstacles and 3 miles later- I knew I'd be a wreck! Cassie worked her schedule to get me in after the race. Again, HUGE bonus points for working around my tricky schedule! During the hour long massage, Cassie picked up every sore spot, tight muscle and knot in my body and worked them out. It was heaven! I felt 100 times better than when I hobbled in there. The proof was the next day when my race buddies called to tell me how bad they hurt and I was feeling fine! This is a total game changer, folks! One aspect of a consistently great massage experience is a relationship with your massage therapist. Seeing the same therapist regularly gives them a chance to know your body and needs, and keeps you from having to explain the same info over and over. Unfortunately, this is hard to achieve at the big chain massage centers, where therapist turnover is high. A small, personal massage center with only a few therapists is the best way to go, and The Way is great. Although Tanja has moved on, owner Cassie Winkle remains, with a new partner, Michael. They are both awesome. Cassie is skilled, attentive, and works hard to make sure she addresses whatever issues I have at any given session. The space is quiet, comfortable, and warm - no shivering here! There's complimentary cucumber water available before or after your massage, and a surprising range of toiletry needs in the bathroom to help you freshen up and restore yourself lest you return to the real world looking as incredibly relaxed and slightly glazed as you might feel. There's plenty of space in the rooms, so one doesn't feel cramped (and the therapist has plenty of space to move around you). Although their space is in a large house of converted offices, it has its own private entrance around back, and I've never had trouble parking. Best of all, both Cassie and Michael are super friendly and professional. You want to chat? They are happy to connect with you. You want to quietly fall into a relaxation coma? That's good, too. Their online booking system is simple to navigate, they allow cancellations up to 4 hours beforehand, and it's easy to reschedule. They always seem to have a good selection of slots available, and in case of an urgent need, you can email them to see if they can help. You can also get package deals to make regular massages a little cheaper, and they often have specials they send out in occasional, non-obnoxious emails. The only thing I wish they had is a pregnancy massage table, with a belly space, as Cassie's massaging me through my second pregnancy. Without it, however, she works hard to make me comfortable on my side with pillows and prenatal technique adjustments. No complaints! I've tried a lot of local massage places. I recently took a fall down some stairs, and although thankfully I didn't break anything, I've been having problems with my back ever since. My back sort of felt like there was a Charlie horse that wouldn't go away. I recently started seeing Tanja at The Way Massage and my back has been getting better! She's been great and really helpful. When I first went into the reception area it was relaxing and comfortable, and I was greeted with some really delicious strawberry infused water while I explained my situation. The massage was great, relaxing, and Tanja was really able to work out some of the knots and other tense points that had built up as a result of my fall. She was very attentive to the areas I was having pain, as well as my overall comfort during the entire experience. She also gave me some good stretches to use daily, which have actually been helping. A few days ago, I received a full body massage from Carolyn, and let me tell you... that was THE BEST massage I have ever gotten! The entire experience was perfect, from the moment I walked in, to the moment I left. I even got to meet the owner, who was very pleasant and welcoming! On the table, Carolyn made sure I was as comfortable as possible, from the music, to the pillow position under my legs. The massage itself was impeccable! Carolyn was able to hit every single bothersome knot, and more! Spots I didn't even know needed tending to! My body felt so relaxed, and my mind was at ease knowing I was in such good hands (literally). Afterwards, she offered me some orange infused water (thankfully, since I'm not a fan of lemon), and gave me advise on which foam roller to buy for my aching muscles. Had an absolutely spectacular massage with Keri this morning! I had a back injury a few years ago and have gotten tons of massages since, but this was by far the best! A few months back I threw out my neck most likely due to long hours hunched over my desk. A simple reach to get something was the final straw that sent my neck over the edge. I was suddenly in so much pain. It happened on the train and I was in such visible anguish that a seated woman got up to give me her seat during rush hour in a train packed like a sardine can. I went to see Tanja and her magic fingers made it all better in just one visit. I felt better than I can remember feeling in a long time. I've recommended Tanja and The Way to others most notably my husband who previously was not comfortable getting a massage, in spite of how much he might have needed one. He recently threw out his neck as well also probably related to stress and long hours. He'd messed up his neck before but refused to see any one about it. He just struggled through it. This time it was so much worse. He was really suffering. He had seen how quickly Tanja fixed me and I was finally able to convince him to get over his massage reluctance. A great message therapist can be hard to find. Cassie is a real find. The location is easy to find with plenty of off street parking. The rooms are comfortable and the heated mattresses are the best. I had asked for a specific song list that I like to relax to and she had the custom music disc ready for me on arrival. I prefer that my massages be quiet and relaxing.
