I have had small issues that the front desk needed to clarify with either their manager, I believe her name is Toni, or the owner Elise; in which neither ever had a solution or anything positive/kind to say to me. Most of the employees that actually work at the Burlington location are great. Lily and Maddy are always full of fun inviting conversations and fun ME news, while also being willing to put up with me and my busy schedule when booking me appointments, this location would not function well without the two of them there working together. Heather is always keeping me from looking and feeling like an old lady, she is such a sweet girl and has the purest heart, while also being a world class Esthetician. Jenny and Ian are both my two favorite Massage Therapists I've ever been to. Jenny always has the best energy and always puts me in a good mood. Ian has the best deep pressure massages, my son loves seeing Ian and talking about sports with him! These individuals named are both good people and amazing employees, I love coming in and seeing all of their faces, ME Burlington wouldn't be the same without these amazing 5! read more

Came here for the first time. Cost of $75 as an introductory charge. What's Hot - Quality. Not bad, but not great. My masseuse did find some of the knots in my body and was able to massage them away. She started massaging my shoulders and I asked her to increase her pressure, which she did. Definitely communicative and responsive, which is important. - Service. I received a text message reminder asking me to confirm my appointment, as well. I made sure to arrive early, which is also what they requested, because I would need to fill out a questionnaire. They asked me the necessary and appropriate questions for the massage. The massage started on time, but ended pretty abruptly, which wasn't nice. I elaborate more below. - Price. Pretty reasonable, especially given the area. Additionally, they also offer a monthly membership that guarantees you a locked lower rate of a monthly hour massage. It also allows you to rollover unused massages to the next month. Definitely helpful. - Location. Pretty convenient to other shops and restaurants. There's also a good size parking lot, which is helpful. - Health and safety. During this time of the pandemic, they appear to be adhering to health and safety standards. All their staff wore masks and there was a sign on the door asking customers to wear masks. Their text message reminder also requested customers to wear masks to maintain health and safety standards. It was reassuring. What's Not - Quality/pace. My masseuse started my massage with cold hands, which didn't feel good. To be fair, it wasn't a bad massage, but the quality was lacking. The pace of my massage was frantic and not relaxing. I've had massages for several years and an important factor for me is that I have the opportunity to focus on the present, that the tension in my body is being kneaded away, I can take deep breaths, and slow down. I didn't get that in this massage. There didn't seem to be a methodical approach to the massage. - User friendly. Not the most user friendly online platform. I tried to schedule my appointment online. With each attempt, I received a message that there were no available spots, so I tried the next weekend, but I received the same message. It made me wonder if they're really so booked, so I called. They were able to schedule me within my availability, which was nice. But why wasn't I able to schedule it online so easily? Not helpful. - Time. Although I scheduled a 1hr massage, it came out to 50 minutes. To be fair, they explained why after I filled out the questionnaire, which was for the masseuse to ask me questions before my massage started, and to give me time to get ready before and after the massage. Unfortunately, I didn't get a full hour. My masseuse also ended pretty abruptly and didn't use a warm damp towel to clean off some of the massage lotion. - Price. For this area, $75 as an introductory price isn't bad. Based on what I've researched, many spas cost more for an hour massage. However, it's an introductory price. They told me it's around $100/hr, without the monthly membership. Final Answer Might be willing to come back, but not a first choice. read more

So I went in to Massage Envy Burlington to get one of the 15 massages on my account and to cancel my membership. I was told they don't cancel in person and I would get an email. It took 2 weeks to get the cancellation form and it was the same day they billed me for April. I filled it out and sent it In April 5th it took till. April 9 to get the cancellation confirmation. They billed me again in May and told me I had till June 9, 2023 to use the 15 massages but you can never get an appointment. read more

6 phone calls remain unanswered after leaving messages each time. Another 5 times I called just in case someone picked up the phone. They had sent me email message from Massage Envy Burlington saying I needed to update my credit card number. (If not received my membership lapses and they don't have to give you the massages you have already paid for and not received) I have been a member for many years but in the last few years they have gone down hill. Also now they expect a 20% tip. So the actual cost is higher than stated. The therapists are fine. The dealing with them is stressful. There is tension. So you don't leave feeling relaxed. DO NOT USE MASSAGE ENVY in Burlington. I started my massage envy membership in a different location and was happy with the service. I moved and Burlington was the closest location. The one facial I received was pretty mediocre but the customer service has been the worst I have ever had. Scheduling an appointment on the phone could take 45 minutes. They confused my account with a different family member and did not fix it despite multiple requests. Worse, I had two appointments that they cancelled the day of. I had confirmed both appointments. The first cancelled appointment I did not see the text until I was in front of the dark and locked location. I left three messages at the location asking for a call back, nothing, I finally get a person on the phone who informs me I cancelled the appointments which was simply wrong. I attempted to explain the mistake, at which point the young woman told me that unless I was willing to have a civilized conversation..,and then hung up. I finally got to the manager who was simply clueless and did nothing to address the issues at her location. Do not use a massage envy in Burlington, the worst experience I have had in 55 years regarding customer service. read more

While 9 months pregnant I had a bad experience at two locations over the course of a month. Hopefully this review will save someone else from the same experience as me. This is a bit long winded, however briefly I experience unprofessional behavior, multiple cancellations, being charged for a service after being told multiple times it was FREE due to prior issues, refusal of a refund, passive aggressive and what felt like manipulative comments, and an OWNER who refused to take the time to address a very pregnant and upset customer. In November 2022 I booked a prenatal massage for Dec 29th at the CAMBRIDGE location, this was for my birthday and was a prenatal massage at 36 weeks. I took the entire day off of work and was very excited. The appt was confirmed normally. Once I arrived at the location I was unfortunately told the therapist did not show up to work and they had not been able to contact her all day and they were unaware of why she had not shown up or contacted them. I expressed frustration for the reasons above and the rescheduled me for two weeks later at 38 WEEKS and told me the next massage would be COMPLEMENTARY due to all the inconvenience it caused.I confirmed the date and that it would be a comp massage before leaving and provided my card to hold my appt. I was asked for my card information again. The day before this MAKE UP message I got a text from the manager of the Cambridge location who told me that location flooded (no big deal it happens) and she could book within BURLINGTON for the same day and time. I replied and agreed that was fine but added it was COMPLIMENTARY and PRENATAL, I also requested an email confirmation for the new appt. I got a call from her explaining she was very busy handling multiple different things and could not send this immediately but wanted to confirm I was all set from the same day/time at the Burligton location for my PRENATAL COMP massage. I was asked for my card information again. I was then called less than three hours before this appointment and was told I could NOT come in once again, this time it was due to the massage therapist not having the correct certifications to do my prenatal massage. I expressed my frustrations as this was the third issue/multiple cancellations and I was clear this was a PRENATAL Comp massage due to other issues at the last visit. The manager apologized. I was called again after 30 mins to be told someone could do it but now I could not come because of how far along I was. I was told 38 weeks is full term and I was fully approved by my doctor. I was then told I needed to have a note. SKIP a bunch of nonsense and I got it finally. This is when I became displeased with some of the more passive aggressive comments such as "well baby health comes first and I would have never booked this massage", this made me feel it was implied I was not being mindful of my babies health !?Along the way I was questioned about the 8 rating I gave my massage therapist, "I just don't understand why it was not a 10", I was told that everything the employees did the manager would not have done, I was then told "well you know if the massage was free then the therapist would not get paid???". I reacted to all of these comments as it does not matter because the issue here was I was told for my trouble I was going to be compensated then I was not, it seemed very much set up to come in and then still be charged. I was even asked if I KNEW how much the service was and that it was 130. To which I was offended at the implication that I couldn't afford the service when clearly I had planned to pay for it in full if at my first session the therapist showed up. I was also told that the therapist didn't show up because she was in the hospital but did provide a note, and why would I want a sick therapist. AGAIN deflecting that I was told one thing and a completely different thing was done. I explained I was weeks from my due date. All this experience did was bring me unneeded stress and I just wanted what I was told would happen. I was told the best that could be done was for me to come back and pay for ANOTHER service and get a free extension (I was told this is what it should have been to begin with). I explained I was not comfortable getting anything "free" as clearly they do not honor this. I also pointed out that if I was not told the massage was free, why did no one correct me, asking what I wanted my free extension to be upon arrival???? This could of course not be answered. Lastly, I asked to speak with the owner multiple times as it was clear the manager could not/would not make this choice, I was told the owner does not talk with the customers and this is why they have managed staff. Terrible customer service from manager Elizabeth & front desk associate Lali. I will never be stepping foot inside this business again. They charged me full price for my service during a family emergency and refused to reimburse me even though I've been a loyal client for years and this was my first time no showing. I myself work in the industry and understand policy but emergencies happen and they are out of your control. I would never charge someone a no show fee due to an emergency and certainly not the FULL amount. The way I was treated was disgusting with 0 remorse. This facility does not care about their clients. Been visiting this location for years for my skincare maintenance. I'm happy with the facility, services, and hours it operates. Been seeing Heather and couldn't praise her more. Extremely knowledgeable and personable. She makes appropriate product recommendations and isn't pushy about the product sales. She has a schedule that meets mine as I typically require evenings or weekends. Unfortunately I am unable to comment on the massage therapists as I found it hard to get evening or weekend appointments. I haven't been for a massage in years. When calling to book the appointment I was asked to be there 10 minutes early for paperwork. I got there 5 minutes early. I filled out my paperwork & was led to the back. They asked if I had to use the ladies room & I did. Afterwards i was introduced to my massage therapist & so was led into the room. The massage itself was great, but only 45 minutes not an hour. I asked my therapist about this and she referred me to the front desk. I asked if i could get a prorated rate since I didn't get an hour massage. They refused! I paid to fill out paperwork & go pee. Admittedly they ASKED if I could be 10 minutes early. I was 5. The services are fine but I caution anyone thinking of a membership to be advised that setting up appointments are difficult at best. Covid related due to shortage of staff? maybe, but it does no good if you have an actual work schedule as most appointments that are available are smack mid day. Every time I have attempted to set up an appointment in Burlington I have a choice of 9, 1 or 2pm, if I am lucky. Hence racking up monthly services that CANNOT be used. I have over a 1/2 dozen that I cannot use so far! Go to transfer PAID services to family and friends whose schedules are more flexible and am told I can only transfer (again,WHAT WAS ALREADY PAID FOR) every two months.......So it is a scam at best! No way to use what I have paid for and I cannot even gift them out, how is this legal? I was never told about this when signing up.........Mind you, to transfer the services that I PAID for, there is an additional fee. So it cost me additional money to USE WHAT I ALREADY PAID FOR, that I CAN'T USE! Sound like a lot of hassle? It is!!! I am biding time to cancel this membership as this past year has come at great expense for no usage at all, it is a year long commitment (contract for 12 months) and you need to watch as they will reenroll you unless you notify them in time, locking you in again, no way out of the monthly fee, no concern as to lack of service availability, and once cancelled additional stipulations as you have 30 days to use all paid for services or lose all services. Which is bordeline impossible! I have asked to speak to a manager and am awaiting a call back and will be contacting the AG in Boston as well as this reeks of bait and switch! Massage Envy is the worst business place I have been in US. I got a gift card from my daughter for massage envy. To make an appointment they asked for my credit card number. I gave them. even when I showed them my gift card. then after the first massage, I wanted to go back there. I booked my second appointment for the following month. the weekend of my appointment I got an emergency and I traveled. they didn't send me a reminder. the day of my appointment, they call me and I apologized, and wanted to pay the fees and reschedule. they refused and charged me the full amount of $125 for the massage that I didn't get, because they have my credit card infos in their system. I think that was rude and very bad for a business. I am doing this review to warn people to be careful with Massage Envy. Their sales people are way too pushy and really rude, they make you never want to go back even if you had a good massage. If you are stupid enough like I was to sign up for a monthyly membership get copies of everything, as they tell you one thing and do another. I signed up for a 6 month plan as I didn't want a year and somehow I got locked in to a year with them charging each month saying I never filled out the cancellation form. Which strategically they never told me about as I asked if I needed to do anything to cancel for the next month. They are crooks here. DON'T GO. Got my first professional massage here and both the front desk staff and the massage therapist, Jenny, were communicative and helpful in explaining how it works. Jenny is an experienced massage therapist who made me comfortable and helped get rid of stress in my body over the course of an hourlong, full body massage. I should have opted for an hour and a half because it went by so fast... maybe next time! I've been going to Massage Envy in Burlington for over a year now and usually go 1-2 times a month. I like doing one 60 minute and one 90 minute every month. There is a wide variety in the large staff, so it's important to tell them what kind of massage you want when you book and ask them about the different therapists and their specialties. A few things to know: It's $39 for your first massage. Then they try to get you to sign up for a monthly membership which is pretty flexible and totally worth it. I look at massage as part of the way a maintain a healthy mind/body, not as a luxury, so biweekly or monthly massages on a regular schedule seem very sensible to me but they may not to you. USE YOUR HEALTH CARE FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT! If you get a note from your doctor saying that you benefit from massage therapy, you can send that letter to your flexible spending account, which will reimburse you for your massages! Just ask for an insurance receipt at massage envy when you check out and they'll print one out for you. Here are some of the therapists I have had who I would recommend: Jen, Beth, Sophie Also, you should tip on the full VALUE of the massage... there are helpful signs up front and in the rooms to help you figure out how much to tip. I have called 5 times, and emailed the manager to have my membership cancelled as their availability does not work with my schedule. It is next to impossible to get appointments at an of the local franchises. I frequently check three separate locations. The last two times I have managed to grab a canceled appointment they have then been canceled on me. One time, I actually went to my appointment, sat in the waiting room and THEN they came out and told me the therapist was sick and wasn't coming in. This was totally unacceptable as I had scheduled my entire day around this appointment, how could they not know he wasn't coming in until I was sitting there? Then yesterday I got a call that my appointment next week, during my vacation, is also canceled due to the therapist not being in. I understand things happened and people can't come to work sometimes, however, when these appointments are canceled there is NO option to rebook. I'm fed up with the lack of availability and frequent cancellations. As a MEMBER, I have so many built-up appointments on my account that I am literally unable to use due to lack of availability. I want to cancel my membership but if I do, I would be giving the company all the money from appointments I wasn't able to book. As a very regular massage customer at downtown Boston spas, I was a wee bit skeptical of this place, but was willing to give it a whirl on a leisurely afternoon at Wayside Commons. Your first massage is a mere $39. Considering what I normally pay, I was feeling less than convinced about the quality of a $39 massage. But I was pleasantly surprised! My therapist was skilled and professional, and the table was comfortable and the room was quiet. The facilities are clean and straightforward and more than adequate. I was so pleased that I joined the membership program. $59 a month gets you one "free" massage, with any additional sessions for only $39. A great deal if you need regular bodywork. I run, so I'm very excited for affordable quality massage on a regular basis! If you're looking for something fancy and more destination spa-like, this is not your place. Also - while they DO take walk-ins, the receptionist said that it's best to make an appointment on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. read more

I write this review in a state known simply as "Massage Brain." One of the best 50 minutes of my life took place this afternoon, when I visited Massage Envy at Wayside Commons in Burlington. For $39, you get the same full-hour treatment you'd receive if you were paying full price. This includes the massage of your choice (except hot stone) from a skilled masseuse. This was my first massage, so I had no idea how important the atmosphere is for relaxing. The massage takes place in a dimly lit room where tranquil music plays; you lay on a warm table that's more like a bed and the next 50 minutes just melt away. I went for the full body massage, which includes things you'd never expect like your fingers. When it's all said and done, you're floating and blissful, so it's tough to drive home and go back outside in the sunlight. The one negative was the hard sell to join their monthly plan. It's not a bad deal at $59/month, but I definitely felt some pressure to sign up. I didn't do so, since I'd rather do this after making Flexible Spending Account (FSA) contributions through work and it was only my first experience. Some other notes: - In case you were wondering, gratuities are not included. They do provide guidelines and considering how hard these people work, I think it's important to tip on the regular massage cost - For you pervs, there's no happy ending -- so don't go there. And, no, I didn't suggest it. - Overall, this is one of the best deals that you'll find. If anything, try the introductory massage and you'll feel worlds better. Massage therapy is all about who you like as a massage therapist. The woman I adore who works here is named Krystel. I've had massages from other LMT's at this location that I did not enjoy and would rate only one star. But Krystel is the reason I'm rating this location 5 stars. YOU have to keep trying different LMT's until you find your pot of gold!! If Krystel ever left, I would follow her to wherever she goes next. But also, the Massage Envy franchise deserves 4-5 stars for it's clean and professional appearance and the well-trained staff. At first I was dubious. The place seems to shout "massage parlor for lonely housewives!" This is definitely not a spa, but not a grungy rub and tug parlor either. It's sort of like a doctor's office- but with a lot of touching. The introductory $39 massage was awesome. They have memberships- and I signed up for one, but it's probably not the best road for everyone. No TRUST at this Location. Most probably are trustworthy but even 1 who is not is too many for me. I won't go back there. This is my story: I forgot a bracelet there and it was not turned in and I don't have it. Management says between the 1 hr after I left and the store closed it was not found. That is Theft to me. Pure and Simple. Was it an Employee? I don't know. But they keep the doors closed. Tuesday, September 25 I had a scheduled 90 min massage with Ashley. It was a good massage. I was her last client, the last in that room, and I left at 8pm. I realized when I got home I had left my bracelet on a shelf above the stool where clothes are placed. I called and asked about the bracelet, said where it was and was told it was not there and they would ask the MT in the morning when she came in. I spoke with Jen, assist mgr, told me it was not in the room and not in lost and found. That only the MT cleaned the room and that the front desk vacuumed the room. She said she would ask the MT when Ashley came in at 9. She said she would call me back. At 9:30am I called and spoke with Jen, she said Ashley hadn't seen it. I asked to speak with the Manager and was told that the manager was not there, but she wouldn't say when she would call or give me her full name and was very evasive and just generally not forth coming. Said I'd get a call in a timely manner. I asked for the name of the owner, did not want to tell me that either, I asked for a report, she said they didn't do that. She didn't even ask me what the bracelet looked like. The manager did call me and told me she checked the laundry basket but didn't' find anything. And how she knew it was the right basket was that the basket had double sheets with a blanket. THEN: The manager decided to speak to me about a complaint she had to me. ME has a policy of a blanket that they use over the sheet. I don't like the blanket because it is not a fresh item used for each client like the sheets and I think that is gross. I ask that it be removed and another sheet added (keeping everything hidden/draped). It is not a problem in any ME that I've ever been in and I've been a member of ME for 9 years. Here, this manager person chooses this time to hassle me, rather than give me a call to chat about it at another time. This was completely inappropriate. But I knew what she was doing. Tit for tat is what that is called. Poor qualities in a manager. As a note of reference, both people asked if I checked my stuff and of course I had and I didn't mind that they asked me. That was reasonable. I did ask that a reward note be put up. I don't know if they did. I don't get a warm feeling that they did. However I didn't go up there and check. I have recommended ME Burlington often in the past but I won't in the future, even tho there are MT's that are decent there. Arlington and Waltham are consistently better by 5 stars on the front desk and have always been. Burlington has been up and down on that front desk and now with this theft and I know it is theft. As for full disclosure: I've had interactions with staff at Arlington and Waltham that have always been respectfully resolved on both sides and I never felt put off and have happily returned all these years - 9 years. No one is perfect, but trust is sacred. 1 star because before I lost my bracelet I was happy with my massage. read more

I have been to Massage Envy once, and am hesitant to return, but am still investigating the competition and whether or not a membership at a spa may be a good investment. They have reasonable facilities, and the masseuse who worked on me did a decent job. You can hear talking through the walls, the music is a bit loud and not greatly relaxing. This was not the best massage I've had, but far from the worst. The masseuse seemed competent, and was strong and skilled enough to do deep tissue work. The larger downside of this experience comes when you learn more about their business. They have some med - high pressure sales tactics when you go to pay, and the masseuse's job seems to be preparing you for the big sale rather than treating your pain. The first time customer gets something like a $39/hr massage, but that is only the introductory offer. After that you either pay MUCH more than you typically would to return (~$100/hr), or you buy their 1 year service plan that gives you a massage each month at that cut rate price. Not a lot of options... So, either I never come back OR I buy into a long term plan for (hopefully) OK massages. I'd much rather buy into a plan for great massage, but I don't think this franchise treats their employees greatly, from the Glassdoor reviews I've seen on the business, so they probably have trouble retaining the best or attracting experienced folks. I'll have to check out Elements spas as well -- another franchise that looks to have more flexible membership benefits for their clients, since you are not BOUND to them for a year. In conclusion, if you need regular monthly massage, and do not have high expectations this may be the place to go. read more

This particular massage envy is good but not great. Both of my massage therapists that I've had here wanted to create their own experiences instead of listening to my requests. I had a young girl a few weeks back who insisted on giving me a deep tissue massage because I needed it (I have super tight muscles because I'm a yoga teacher). I told her I was fine without it and she pressured me into it. I finally relented and told her she could and it hurt so much I asked her to stop. She told me "it was good to feel the pain" and the next morning I woke up with three small bruises. I know this isn't a typical experience as the other massage therapist was good, but again not great. read more

After having a booking error that was not fixed by a different location, I spoke to the desk at the Burlington location. The woman was so professional and so happy to accommodate appointments for my friends and me. The Burlington location is a Bit of a drive for us, but it's so worth it to have the professionalism and courtesy of the front desk. Starting from the moment I walked in the door I knew this place had terrible customer service. I've been a massage envy member for years and have gone to multiple locations and have never experienced what I did today. I was greeted and asked to update my info. Which is fine. But when I was done I was not offered water, bathroom or brought back to the tranquility room. I sat in the lobby while all the employees chatted. Another customer walked in and immediately got escorted to the tranquility room. While I was ignored. Ten minutes later I asked to use the bathroom and brought myself back to the room to wait for my massage. The massage itself was good. But this place lost stars on its rating simply with the terrible customer service. I will not return to this location and will not recommend it to anyone read more

I made an appointment as a new client and I had to cancelled because of the results from my medical situation I was never told of the cancellation fee by the way . They still charge me even after I told the manager I could put her staff and her customers at risk if I came in. She did not care and said I will be charged. Horrible customer service. They were very good about following COVID protocols. Heather did my custom facial. From the beginning, she told me everything that was going to happen, then explained the products she was using as she did the facial. It was very informative and the products felt great on my skin. She did a wonderful job and was very sweet! I haven't heard great things about massage envy and from my experience, I don't see why! read more

I echo the EXACT sentiments of user D S. below. I am a massage envy member and my "home" location would be considered Burlington. First I'd like to start by saying over my years of being a member, I've had a few great providers at that location. Some excellent massages and facial services. But as mentioned before, making appointments at this location is absolutely impossible. Without exaggerating, 4 of my last 6 appointments have been cancelled BY THE LOCATION, day of, with no alternative appointments offered. It's completely unacceptable. As it is, I made each appointment at least 2 weeks in advance (booking is near impossible if you work AT ALL) and to have them cancelled with no evening or weekend appointments offered as alternatives is unacceptable. I also echo the complaint about 1) not being able to use my 12 (!) accrued visits in a timely manner and 2) not being able to gift them to friends or family without unrealistic limitations. I recently inquired about stopping my membership and was told unless I "pause" my account, my accrued visits would be unusable. Pausing your account still incurs a monthly fee. I have already "paid" for those 12 visits so of course, I don't want to lose them. But to require a payment still and have impossible availability is just really disappointing. I have left multiple messages with all my information, asking to speak with a manager or anyone else about this situation and none of my messages have been returned. This has nothing to do with COVID. Staff appropriately or give us our money back. read more

My massage was ok, but I have had better. Also my hour-long massage was about 40 minutes to allow them enough time to try to sell me a package. I said no, and she kept trying to sweeten the pot. Ultimately I was not interested. The purpose of a massage is to be relaxing, and I left feeling kind of stressed out by their aggressive practices. I would not recommend this place. read more

I don't know about other locations, but the Burlington location is definitely a waste of your time/ money. The manager is rude and condescending and the prices are through the roof. First impression aside, I continued on with my appointment because I had planned my day around it, and the massage was great. On my way out I dealt with a huge sales pitch about how i NEEDED to become a monthly member for my health, and somehow they talked me into it, a move which I immediately regretted. I called two months later to try to cancel, stating that I regretted my mistake that was causing me anxiety, but I had just moved and was struggling with my bills, and that I really couldn't afford the high monthly fee. The manager used a sickly sweet fake voice and fought me over the phone and wouldn't do a thing to help, so I asked my doctor to write a note saying I had to cancel, which she did. I canceled, but had already booked an appointment for a week and a half later, and as I understood from my "contract" I had 30 days from cancellation to use any accrued massages. I had the one booked that I had paid for already as well as some elusive free one that I got as a perk for signing up for a membership. I received a confirmation call two days ago and a confirmation email yesterday, but when I went in for my appointment today the manager said that because I had canceled my membership any appointments I had and any services I had in my "bank" were voided, and because I was no longer a member I also could not transfer them to a friend. No one could have called me to tell me the appointment THAT I PAID FOR and that I received 2 confirmations for was off?? And they wouldn't refund me. So I left, lesson learned, and chalked it up to a glitch that no one had called me to let me know I actually didn't have an appointment today. I called my boyfriend to fill him in and come to find out he called last night to try to upgrade my service for today as a surprise, and the SAME MANAGER told him that I had cancelled, but that I did in fact have an appointment for today. He disputed the price of the upgrade with her over the phone, and turns out she was going to charge me the non member rate for my service without informing me ahead of time. I would have gotten out of the massage thinking I was covered and I would have owed $80 when in reality I had already paid the monthly fee of $55 for it. To sum up, I am furious, as is my boyfriend, and I urge you to go to a different place for a massage. The only good thing massage envy has is the quality of the actual massage (and that isn't even THAT great). Also, you'll pay for a 60 minute massage but they only give you about 45 mins because they factor in time for you to undress and redress as well as time for their lengthy sales pitch. My boyfriend and I just got our first 'couples' massage here in Burlington, MA and it was great!! we were in the same room which was peaceful and the beds were so comfortable and warm! when we first got there, the front desk had us fill out some forms about our health and what we prefer/don't like. We then met our massage therapists who were so nice! My therapist's name was Kim, she just started recently but she was really great! She was very easy to talk to (if you want to talk!) and she definitely knows what she's doing! I would recommend her to any of my family and friends. The first-time massage lasted 50 minutes and it was only $39 (it is usually $78 but we got the first-time customer discount.) That first time price is outrageously cheap compared to what I've paid at other places (what do you have to lose!). I asked for a little deep tissue but mostly a Swedish full body massage. The therapists acclimate the massages to your requests which was really great since I was hesitant towards the pain of a full deep tissue. When we were done, the front desk did mention a monthly membership (which would be great if we had the money!) but we're college students right now so we have to wait on that. She did also mention that there are some health insurance discounts that we can explore in the future! We will definitely be back!! read more

If you are getting a 60 minute massage you're actually only getting 50. They account 5 minutes for dress and undress as part of it, which I think is pitiful. It takes me 2-3 minutes to undress. If your therapist meets you late (which was the case with me), they don't make up for that time. My result was a 45 minute mediocre massage. Why go here again when there are so many other private places who care about their customers. This is a chain, they have their rules and regulations and that's that. They don't care about you as a customer. It's also a bit like buying a used car - you better be ready for a sales speech and pressure to "become a member" after your massage. So much for relaxation. I went to Massage Envy today. My experience was not so good with the therapist that I worked with. I think the chain is good. I was using the $39 giftcard (their) introductory offer given to me by my husband. The massage time is 50 minutes. rest 10 minutes for wellness consultation and chaging your clothes. I went there to relax and my Therapist was talking most of the time (trying to sell me the membership) and only concentrated on the neck area for more than 35 miniutes. I am like I am paying money to not get just the neck massage. I had to ask her if she was going to cover the rest of the areas of my body as I had pain everywhere. We were only left with 15 minutes. Imagine, I had the rest of my body's massage in 15 minutes with so much noise. I thought they were only interested in selling me the membership. First I thought I will buy it since its only $59/month but now I changed my mind after such a bad experience. My husband has also been there once and he too wasn't too happy with the service. Some good things, very professional welcome, soothing ambience, well mannered staff. My Therapist streteched my neck, hands, legs (which was good). I think it all depends on the Therapist. read more
