    Cheese for Bretzel
    Alyssa W.

I am so dang sad. This place is not what it used to be. The food has changed a lot. The cheese dip served with the Bretzels seemed like it was definitely the Tostitos cheese dip in a jar, but warmed up. The toasted ravioli were the worst of my life which is so confusing like how is it possible to make fried food taste bad? I've had better from the freezer isle. My sister ordered the Mediterranean flatbread and it was weird. Didn't seem to truly be Mediterranean inspired and everyone who tried it disliked it. This place used to be packed and it was mostly empty. The strawberry sangria was SO watered down. I had 3 and didn't feel like I consumed any alcohol & certainly couldn't taste any. It was like watered down strawberry juice. The employees were nice, but they don't check on you at the table. You have to bring your cups and dishes back to the bar when you're done. I just don't know if this place will survive if they don't make some huge changes. My family and I used to love coming here, but the ambiance, food and drink offerings, and service is poor. Breaks my heart to see this place go downhill.

We love that we can come to the place we got married to enjoy some dinner and wine on our anniversary! Great place to relax and enjoy being outside.

A hidden gem! I discovered this cute little winery near my neighborhood! I was attending a wine glass painting class, which was so fun! They have them once a month. But I discovered a bingo game taking place, good drinks, delicious food and friendly employees! Guess where I will be at least once a month?! I can't wait to bring all my friends!

What a delightful venue situated in the country alongside beautiful farm fields. It fits in so nicely with a silo as part of the landscape. My first visit and during a pandemic, yet I felt safe. Reservations required, tables are social distance 6 foot apart and many are located in their own separate pavilion. Masks were required in the tasting room and while no "tastings" were being held, this is where you order from the bar and pick up your food order. No table service was offered. I get that because once you are at your table you can remove your mask. Very weak strawberry sangria was the special at $18 a pitcher. It's a refreshing choice on a hot summer night. Other wines we ordered were $16-$21 a bottle with tubs of ice to keep it cool. You pay a deposit of $2 per glass and can take home a souvenir or cash in when you leave. Domestic bottles of beer and other wine inspired frozen drinks were available--no hard liquor--beer and wine only. Food menu is limited but our tables found plenty to order from three different flavors of flatbreads to pretzels and cheese and sausage trays. I've saved the best for last! This venue offers covered outdoor seating and with the garage door like walls open wide even the tasting room lets the outdoors in. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and evenings are aglow with strands of outdoor lighting. There is a huge parking lot. Restrooms were clean and hand sanitizer was everywhere. We celebrated a birthday girl and would gladly return! On this Friday evening they closed at 10pm.

The Weingarten is a beautiful tucked away Winery in Belleville Illinois. If you have a sweet tooth or sweet palette then their signature wines are definitely for you. Hints of fruit and crisp finishes makes these wines great.

This is a great venue if you're looking to have a wedding or party of some sort. If you're looking for a place just to hang out and listen to good music and have a few drinks, this probably isn't the place. The food is overpriced and underwhelming but they do have a large selection of wine. We always enjoy their summer Strawberry Sangria which is very good. I've never been really impressed with the food items that we have here but it's mostly small plates and flatbread pizza. Live music on the weekends is always nice but don't expect anything exceptional, LOL. It's a nice place for a drink or two if you're in the mood for glass of wine but that's pretty much it. It really is more of an event venue than anything else. Definitely try the Strawberry Sangria

Gruv Bistro was our next stop, and they got us in on the back patio and the hostess and waitress so good knowing we had a time limit. The space is small with little off shoot rooms and really cute. Everyone we spoke with was very nice! My cocktail of choice, Smoke de Agave, a tequila drink of course. I really liked it. I had the prime rib sandwich with a side of brussels sprouts. Both were very good! Loved the ciabatta bread and the prime rib, arugula is always good! The Brussels were good, too. Would very much come back next time we make a visit!

Then to end the night I had their blackberry mule. Nice and refreshing. Sadly , mainly my fault I walked away from our table as we left. Didn't get a min away to realize I forgot my left over box. It had a few slices of pizza and appetizer I wanted for the next day. ( it was already tossed ) but dang that was fast how it happened. Overall service was good as always. Wasn't overall crowded. Had just the right amount of people flow. To end our dinner we did try a red velvet cake together. Wasn't too shabby. They have other dessert options like salted caramel cheese cake and a chocolate mousse one to be exact.

We arrived right on time for our reservation, stood for quite a few minutes in a half-empty house before being seated, then waited a very long time between visits from our apparently over-stretched waitstaff. The first cocktail I chose wasn't available; nor was the first entree. I settled on the "red wine flight", and it arrived in three glasses. The server recited their names, but I didn't catch them. Food was middle of the road. A smoked sirloin sandwich was tasty, though rather well-done. And the order of "salmon cakes", which the menu says is made of "smoked salmon, roast corn, tomato, cucumber, creme fraiche, and capers" was in fact just one cake (not cakes!), smaller than a hockey puck (about 1/2" thick max) and seemed to be made of canned fish, not the bright orange of smoked salmon. It was accompanied by five thin slices of cucumber and three or four halved grape tomatoes. No corn, no capers. It was so boring, and an overpriced disappointment at $23. If this Bridge is actually closing and focusing on the event space, they've gone out with a whimper. And if they're actually continuing service, I hope they get the food a little closer to the menu descriptions. Our drinks and water glasses were empty for long stretches. Our server was very pleasant and polite, but must've had way too much to do.

It was pretty tasty. And the caesar was a large portion & decent flavor.

I took a pill before eating. The pizza crust was tender and flavorful. It needed another 3-4 minutes in the oven as the middle was doughy. The squash and cheeses made for warm, gooey comfort food. I'll go back and hope for a better outcome.

My husband and I booked a cabin at Hidden Lake Winery for our anniversary at the recommendation of…read morefamily who raved about their experiences there (although it had been a few years since they'd been). After reading some concerning negative reviews, especially with a very rainy weekend forecast, we worried about a lackluster atmosphere and being confined indoors. We even agreed to cut our losses on the cabin and leave early if the experience was truly as bad as some reviews suggested. Thankfully, our stay was the complete opposite--a delightful surprise that exceeded all of our expectations! The cabin was spotless, cozy, and beautifully maintained, with no bugs inside (despite plenty outside, as you'd expect with any cabin in the woods). The jacuzzi was clean and relaxing, and we enjoyed complimentary breakfasts of bottled water, orange juice, and delicious muffins. We were even charmed by playful and curious baby foxes outside the cabin one morning. One of which came right up and peeked through our door window! The winery itself was a highlight. The food and wine were phenomenal. Quick and good service as well. We didn't do a wine flight, but requested to taste different wines at the bar before buying a glass and there was no deposit charge for the glasses as some reviews mentioned. There was plenty of covered outdoor seating that let us enjoy the views and atmosphere, despite the rain. Indoors, the upstairs offered board games and stunning views. Bartender Jeremy and owner Steve were friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to accommodate us with anything we needed, and even offered some great conversation! Steve's 3 dogs often accompany him to the winery and they are so gentle and sweet! You'll also find pictures of them throughout the inside of the winery! While heavy rain prevented us from hiking around the lake or to the waterfall, we had an amazing weekend. We can only imagine how amazing of an atmosphere it must be on a sunny day with live music! We left feeling grateful for such a wonderful anniversary and eager to return. I truly don't understand the negative reviews. Give this place a shot!

Unfortunately, all of the wines were slightly less than just OK. Definitely don't recommend any of them which was disappointing. The biggest negative was the fact they charge a five dollar glass fee for every glass to ensure you return it when you do a tasting. I've never seen this at a winery before. Frankly, most vineyards encourage you to take their glass so they have the enduring advertising. The highlight of our visit was the patriotic theme and sincere appreciation for our service members. Thank you for that.
